My best friend

My best friend I have one best friend. Her name is Elen and we have known each other since we were 12 years old. We met with her in school in dance class about 14 years ago. If I were to describe how she looks, I would say she is very pretty. She has short brown hair, brown almond-shaped eyes, a small nose and a small pointed chin. She is not very tall but not short either and she is quite slim. She doesn't like to dress up so I usually see her wearing jeans and a T-shirt or sweater. It seems like she and I are always talking or laughing about something. She has a very nice personality and a wonderful sense of humor but she can also get a little depressed from time to time. I can always count on her to be honest and to give me the best advice. We are interested in many of the same hobbies. We both enjoy music, playing in computer games and surf in internet. We like going to the cinema but sometimes can't agree on which movie to see. Som...

School uniform

School uniform We dont have school uniform at our school. Good things about school uniform: 1. no bullying about dressing 2. 2. if you represent your school somewhere, olympics or something, its hounur, because you have the school uniform, that no otherschool have not. 3. When I wake up, then I don´t need to think what i wear today. Bad things about school uniform: 1. You get bored when you everyday wear same clothes. 2. The uniforms are so uncomfortable. 3. Uniforms make you feel contained like you're in jail or something. When my mother used to go to school, then she wear school uniform. She wear dark blue skirt and light blue shirt. Festiv shirt was white and everyone must wear scarf. When she finished school, school uniform would be no more.

Freedom of speech

Freedom of speech Freedom of speech is a wide speared conception. I can understand it in many different ways. For example in my state, Estonia, the freedom is a very important for every human. At least to me it is seemed to be like that. But at school is a little bit sad story with freedom of speech. Some teachers are not used that student expresses her own strong opinion. When another way some teachers are just waitening it. As well as people can not speak along with state public topics and express their opinion. Therefore freedom of speech is debateable. Already from the old times Estonians have been fighting for their own freedom, because they do not like to allow to another country or state, foreign public and foreign language. Estonian public have been fighting with German, Russian and a lot of other states. Estonians has strongly tried to keep a...

BULLYING Bullying is a very big problem in almost every school. When bullying goes out of the limit, it might end with a terrible gunfire(Colombian massacre). I believe everyone have been bullied by someone and have been a bully for a once. Bullying is an issue that is very important in nowadays and needs a special attention. Some of the ways to bully other people are by: calling you names, making things up to get you into trouble, hitting, pinching, biting and pushing, taking things away from you, damaging your belongings, stealing your money, taking your friends away from you. Now, to talk about why people bully someone there are many aspects. Some bullies do it to get attention or to make other people afraid of them. Others might be jealous of the person they are bullying. It makes bully feel, stronger, smarter, or better than the person he or she is bullying. Some people think that it's one of the ...

The answer is close to why scientists investigate the big mysterios space. We all want to know the secret of infinite mystery. And why only girls? That part is actually quite easy, Cause every teenage girl edventually will come to that point of her little teenage life where they just get sick of boys. I think girls are pretty much the biggest question to all teenagers and why just to teenagers? Answer to that question you will get while growing up. Well at least I think so. And now some more specifics about teenage girls. There are all kind of teenage girls. Well, for exempel the ones who think that being a teenage girl is all about boys, drugs and alcohol, then there are ofcourse those sissy girls and neards, plus there are the ones who live THE mo...

I am sure that find out about your professional knowledge, perks and official duties helps us to understand your profession better. However, the lesson would be in English, so students can express them thoughts and ask questions in English. It would help us to evolve our communication in the formal way and it makes us richer by the experience. Visiting our school would be useful for you too. We could discuss about the problems in the education system and offer our solutions to improve an education. The highest result of education is tolerance

The highest result of education is tolerance Ladies and gentleman! Today I will discuss a topic what is opened by a quote by beautiful Helen Keller: The highest result of education is tolerance. Today is the day you will understand that her quote is accurate. So I should probably start with a question. Why should we be tolerant to weird kids at school? Does anybody in this room know why?........Okay, let's just drop that question for now, we'll come back to it later. If I would ask you Where do we get our education from you all would probably say: From schools duuuh! But what is a school? Tallinn English College? Yeah, it is a school with all those fancy numbers with what you can become successful........but the greatest education comes from the life school where we learn about other people's views and thoughts. And when those views happen to have even a slight difference from our own then we start a discussion ...

Having job while studing

Having a job while studying Students want to work, while they are studying, but is it good or bad, if you study and work at the same time? In some cases it is good, when you have a job. You can earn money and not depend on your parents. Then you can make new friends, if it is a serious job, you can meet people, who are older than you, and they will help. Job makes a person to be more responsible. When you are young, you can try to work in different job areas and when you grow up, it is easy for you to make a choice, where you would like to work. And the last, I think, when you have a job, it is interesting and exciting for you to try something new. But there are some negative aspects of having a job while studying. Some students try to work a lot, to earn a lot of money. So they are always very tired and forget about school. “ Government fails to serve up free school meals for all “

Home reading ( magazine article ) : 1. " Government fails to serve up free school meals for all " from http://www.timesonline.co.uk 2. The article is about Scottish government who has failed to achieve it's goal of extending free school meals to all children in the first three years of education. This healthy meal serving is now extended because of the tight public finances caused by the economic slump. There's mentioned that at the moment government can only offer a healthy lunch for 20% of the pupils in Scotland. 3. This topic is interesting because now I can compare my school lunch with Scottish meals. Here we have it for free until the end of the primary school. It's also interesting to read how are they handling with this economic crisis. 4. reluctance vastumeelsus, magnetiline takistus provision säte, lepingutingimus acute, akuutne, terav 5. Schools kill creativity

Schools kill creativity Kristiina Moosel N-14 Ken Robinson had a greate speech in TedX 2006. He was discussing about creativity and how we help ourselves and others to develope it. Mostly I agreed with him but still there were some points, where I could argue with him. Ken Robinson says noone knows how’ll the future be like. The future where our kid’s are going to have to live in. Still our education system wants us to prepare them for that. Prepare them for the mystery, for something we have no idea about how it’s going to be. If I had no younger relatives, I’d have to dissagree with him - I mean, when I was in secondary school I had to study mostly only those subjects I’d really need in the future. But I have some relatives younger than I am. The youngest is 9 right now. And when I look at what she must study, well, I studied it in 4th or 5th...

Reasons of and solutions to truancy

Reasons of and solutions to truancy Truancy is bad. It is bad for the Students(and their future), the Parents, the school and the community. Truancy has become a growing problem. There are many reasons why students play truant from school. Firstly, the biggest reason why students do not go to school is probably that they just do not like school. They do not care about going there. School is just a chore for them and they do not see the point in it. If school were made a little more interesting, then maybe there would be a little less truancy. Some truant students are even addicted to the joys of being truant. Some of them are just too tired to go to school or have something better to do. In addition many students also miss class because they have not done their homework and do not want to get yelled at. Futhermore, some of them do not like the teacher or the subject is too difficult for them....

Truancy in school – individual responsibility

Truancy in school individual responsibility Hello ladies and gentlemen, today I am here to talk to you about truancy in school and why is it an individual responsibility. Truancy in school is a very serious problem nowadays. Unfortunately many students have lost their motivation to study. According to the BBC 400,000 children were persistently absent from England's schools in the past year and missed about one month of school each. The effect that poor attendance at school can have on a child's education can be permanent and damaging but skipping should be child's own responsibility and it is not right to punish the parents for it. Students have many reasons why they are skipping school, mostly they do not like the teachers or the subjects that they are taught. They tend think that they won't need those subjects in their future life. Some children are just lazy and irresponsible. Also one serious reason is bull...

Educational problems of public school, Report

Report The aim of this report is to compare Estonian and British students opinion on educational system. We wrote down our opinion on the 6th of september 2012 in our english class. We had 12 students who gave an opinion about the Estonian educational system. Corporal punishment is illegal in British and Estonian schools. 62% of British childrens think that it would be needful but only 31% Estonian childrens have the same opinion. Actually it could be not banned, because if they used controlled corporal punishment it is not likely to be harmful. I would argue that there were actually fewer discipline problems back in the old days when corporal punishment was more common. Most school in England require children to wear school uniform. Estonian children no longer wear uniforms but few decades ago they wore uniforms. 74% British students and 39% Estonian students believes that school uniforms ...

Students could go there and sit on benches to gather their energy. In the schoolyard, there would be big maple and oak trees and a lovely pond- what a nice place for a picnic on your break time! The lessons would take place in an old manor, where doors opening and closing by themselves wouldn't be anything unique. The classes would be small, but cosy and warm. We'd have a huge library with hundreds of old books. There would be a huge section only for romantic novels and books about love stories. The lessons would start at 9am. In my ideal school I'd have to study the average level of general subjects. There would also be certain amount of specialty studies, which I could be able to choose for myself. About myself

About Myself From the very start I should say that it is not an easy thing to speak about myself as it is hard to have a look at yourself from aside, but at the same time who knows you better than you yourself do? I am a girl of sixteen. When I look at myself in the mirror I see a blond girl with short straight hair, dark eyes and slander figure. As to my appearance I'm rather tall and slim. I have never thought I'm a beauty I whish I were more beautiful. I think that I'm even tempered, rather reserved, calm and modest. But sometimes I can lose my tempo and become either angry or sad. I like staying alone and sometimes I retire into my shell. But at the same time I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it. There are many things in our life I like and some I dislike. I like when everything is OK. Being happy is one way of b...

TALLINN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING INGLISE KEEL Essee Differences between Estonian and USA school and education systems. Juhendaja: Koostanud: 2009 Differences between Estonian and USA school and education systems. Question is, how different are our own and this big country they call United States of America's education. Or maybe there is no difference at all, and our systems about school and education are more similar than they appear at first sight. After reading all the materials and all sorts of notes about USA's education systems and their school household. All at once I realized, that they are not so different at all. Like for example USA's kids have to go to school exactly the same amount of time as our Estonian children. And basically learn same amount of same things. Like everywhere there are always ...

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government?

How can the issue of intolerance be addressed by the government? Intolerance in society is actually the intolerance of it’s individual members. Intolerance is rooted in fear and ignorance. People are afraid of the unknown, it is natural. But it can only grow, if it gets encouragement, either from parents, who are also ingorant or school, who just do not teach children any better. And fighting intolerance requires Law. Intolerance can be fought with education. Tolerance can be teached at an early age only, later it is difficult change a person’s values. And if intolerance starts with the fear of the unknow, education can help. Government should emphasise education more and more. Children should learn about tolerance and human rights and about other ways of life. School should teach children to always be open-minded. Teaching about tolerance and human rights and that the world is bigger than it seems, has to be taught at an early a...

TWILIGHT-CHAPTER TWO-OPEN BOOK

Summary: It's Bella's second day at her new school and while it is a better day in some ways, in others it is much worse. Mike continues to be very friendly, much to Eric's displeasure, which Bella finds flattering, however, she is not interested in Mike and realises she will have to do something about his over-friendly behaviour. Bella is also feeling more confident because she recognises more faces and people are looking at her less than the day before something that, for Bella, is very important. Her day gets worse when she gives the wrong answer in Trig and has to play Volley-ball ending up hitting her team mate on the head with the ball giving us further proof of her clumsy nature. However, the worst part of this second day is that Edward Cullen is not in school and for some reason Bella can't stop thinking about him and his behaviour of the previous day. She feels nervous and uncomfortable, waiting to see if he is in schoo...

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling

Pros and Cons of Homeschooling Hello! My name is Sander and today I talk about Homeschooling. Homeschooling is becoming more popular every day, with a growth rate of 7 percent per year. There are about two million children currently learning at home. Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests and are welcome at colleges and universities. Pros: Individual teaching attention Continuous population growth is leading to overcrowded schools in many areas. Add this to the recent economic struggles, with many schools laying off teachers or closing altogether. This means that teachers are more overwhelmed than ever, often handling classes of 40 or more children at a time. Personalized learning Another important consideration in the pros and cons of homeschooling is your ability to tailor lesson plans to your child. In traditional school environments, classmates often learn at very diffe...

Friends and Friendship I have several friends. But my best friend is Anette. Anette is a little younger than i am- 14. I first met Anette when i was 8 years old, but we didnt become friends at first. Our fathers used to work together, so we first met each other in my fathers office. We became friends about 3 years ago, when Anette came to my traning group. It had been 3 years since we last saw each other so i didnt recognize her at first, and Anette did not recognize me either. So we bacame true friends without knowing that we had known each other for many years already. We found out that our fathers are friends about two yeas ago, when they met each other in one of our competitons and later asked us if we knew that they used to work together. The thing I most like about Anette is her character. Our characters just fit together and we have almost nerver been in a fight. Anette is that kind of girl who ...

501 S Sapodilla Ave West Palm Beach FL 33401 Dear Sir/Madam, 14 May 2012 I am writing to ask you more about your school in America because I would like to become an exchange student there for a year. I am a 17-year-old girl from Estonia, cheerful, kind and hard-working. I love literature and arts; however, learning new ideas and cultures has always been my secret passion. There are many places I have been to and even more yet awaiting to be explored. I would like to know more about the location of your school, strengths and major subjects. Are there any accommodation possibilities such as staying with host families? It would be interesting to try it at least once in a lifetime. And one more question about the fees is there any extra pay for studies, books, uniform, etc? I look forward to your letter. Sincerely, [eesnimi perekonnanimi]

Stalini lapselaps

Russian Language 2. Translation. "Stalin's Grandson" Theatre director Alexandr Burdonsky only rarely gives interviews about his family history and about what happened to him after Stalin's death: "I was fifteen years old when the 20 th Congress took place and Khrushchev gave his secret speech about the cult of personality and its consequences and about all the people who had suffered under Stalin. The speech was no revelation for me. Many of my mother's friends had spent time in prison camps. She herself was constantly under threat of arrest. I knew about all this and I had the same attitude as any other normal person to it. But after Khrushchev's speech many people abandoned us. For them we were only Stalin's relatives. Nobody came to visit us. The headmistress of our school began to pick on my sister and me. We had to move to another school. Later, thank goodness, I met somebody who behaved differently towards me. I was studying drama...

For and against studying abroad

For and against studying abroad At first it will definitely seem exciting, scary and overwhelming to study and live in another country and far away from all your friends and family back home. This experience will expanded your horizons and make you more independent. Obviously there are both pros and cons to studying abroad, and here is what I think they might be. I believe that there are many advantages that the time abroad will provide you. For instance you will make a lot of friends from all over the world. It is always nice to have a place to stay when you accidentally end up in Japan or Australia for a few days. Being an exchange student is also a fabulous chance for travelling. Getting to know a new country so well is definitely not possible during a holiday or a short visit. Besides living in a new culture for a long period of time will teach you more about the culture than reading any boo...
