Acid Rain

irritations can be caused by the sulfur dioxides and nitrogen oxides from acid rain. Acid rain can be absorbed by both plants (through soil and/or direct contact) and animals (from things they eat and/or direct contact). When humans eat these plants or animals, the toxins inside of the things they eat can affect them. It can cause brain damage, kidney problems and even Alzheimer's disease. The countries that are producing the majority of the pollutions that causes acid rain are not that badly affected (Germany, Britain, USA). Instead the wind direction means the acid rain falls in the other places (in Europe : Scandinavia, USA; Canada) Cultural effects Acid rain and the dry deposition of acidic particles contribute to the corrosion of metals (such as bronze) and the deterioration of paint and stone (such as marble and limestone). These effects significantly reduce the societal value of buildings, bridges, cultural objects (such as statues,

Animals we miss today

Causes: *The main cause of animal extinction, without doubt,is human demand, either for animal resources directly, or for the natural resources of the animals' habitats. *In addition to that, there are other indirect causes caused by human activities. *Habitat loss: Is considered to be the main cause for animal extinction. Humans are clearing our forests for wood and timber. The foodchain is disturbed and animals will die. *Wildlife trade: Poaching and wildlife trade are another common threat to animals. International wildlife trade has also been linked to drugs trade. The most common anilmal trade is pet trade, such as orangutangs. Animals are also killed for fur(tigers, leopards, cheetahs)

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

Agnus invented the term. From then until now, acid rain has been an issue of intense debate among scientists and policy makers. Acid rain, one of the most important environmental problems of all, cannot be seen. The invisible gases that cause acid rain usually come from automobiles or coal-burning power plants. Acid rain moves easily, affecting locations far beyond those that let out the pollution. As a result, this global pollution issue causes great debates between countries that fight over polluting each other's environments. For years, science studied the true causes of acid rain. Some scientists concluded that human production was primarily responsible, while others cited natural causes as well. Recently, more intensive research has been done so that countries have the information they need to prevent acid rain and its dangerous effects. The levels of acid rain vary from region to region. In Third World nations without

Stress of the Young people Today

Stress of the Young people Today I think every young people have been faced with stress, like feeling exhausted or undrer excessive pressure. It may cause a desire to run far away from problems just because couldn't cope with it. The main thing in school age peoples what causes stress is probably school. Teachers are giving too much homeworks for not thinking that them subject is the most important. Also about half tests in one period is in the same week. The second thing I bring up is lack of funding. For young people is important hang out with friends, going to the cinema, shopping or just käia kuskil trennis. Everything costs nowadays, but if you don't have money, it causes more stress. Thirdly some young people, especially teenagers, don't get on with their family

Eating Disorders

They want to be thin and pretty like the models they see on television . Often the desire becomes an obsession and young girls see "thinness" as being a needed characteristic. For many girls, the teenage years are spent trying to acquire this look. Eating disorders are a serious health problem. Three of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating or compulsive eating disorder. There are other possible causes to this widely known health problem. The media shows a great deal of beauty and thinness on television and magazines that are viewed by many people daily. Everyone has the desire to look like the actors and actresses do but, in reality, it just will not happen for most of us. An unfavorable relationship a person has with others is also a contributing factor to disordered eating habits. There really is no single reason that a person acquires an eating disorder. Causes like the ones

Achondroplasia (one per 26,000 to 40,000 births) 2. Diastrophic dysplasia (one per 110,000 births) 3. SED (one per 95,000 births) Primordial dwarfism A rare form of dwarfism that results in a smaller body size in all stages of life beginning from before birth. Potential causes Many forms of dwarfism are usually the result of a spontaneous mutation in a single gene from averagesized parents. By genes inherited from one or both parents. Diagnosis Through prenatal testing. Most cases are not identified until after the child is born. Treatment Hormonal therapy. Limblengthening surgery. Most forms of dwarfism cannot be treated or cured. Prevention Prompt treatment of any childhood illnesses and proper nutrition.

Ristna Sea Store

This is where it's located. We went there with 3 of us. We took pictures and collected some information about marine debris in the Baltic Sea aswell. This is how the museum looks like from the outside. Here are our students in front of the Ristna Sea Store sign. The most common components of marine debris in the Baltic Sea are food waste and packages. 31-43% of marine debris are plastic bottles and even 50-63% of marine debris is plastic. Marine debris is harmful for everyone. It causes garbage ingestion and entanglement for marine animals. For marine life it causes accumulation and spread of toxic compounds and garbage deposition. These pictures are illustrative. Ristna Sea Store is organized into different departments and that's why it's called Store. From that exhibition you can find differend findings and their decomposition times in nature. This is how the exhibition looks inside.

Having a job while studying

works something, that schools usually do not teach. Being practical with your time comes in handy while trying to work and study at the same time. If one can manage to do that, it will benefit your greatly in many ways. Some people just cannot keep that up, but if one would think again, not everyone is made the same. However as mentioned, nothing is all good. Working while studying causes irregularities in many students' lives. Lack of sleep, stress and missed classes is not a nice combination for a good life. Trying to find spare time to relax is very difficult. Humans are ,,programmed" to value work over studies therefore students might skip homework and get worse results in school which causes even more stress and extra work for the student. In brief words, working while having a job is not for the weak.

Essay- Money is the All Root of Evil

Essay: Money is the root of all evil Vanessa Maibaum Money is the only thing you need to pay for things you have to buy. It helps to buy and sell things and pay for the services. When money is so important, then why people say that its the root of all evil. Money is also something that causes a lot of troble. For example when you have it much then some people only are friends with you because they need money. Like, they play friends with you only because they know that when they need money then they can borrow that from you. Also it causes troble too when you do not have money. Because when you do not have it you think that you are so unhappy only because you do not have money. It is because you cannot buy things you think you need to be happy. I think that, when someone thinks that

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

The problem is that humans are consuming more than the Earth can regenerate. The exhaustible resources are running out. And with the population growing, it will become an even bigger probleem. This means people in the future may not have enough resources, because right now humans are using too much. Another huge problem is global warming. The effects of global warming can already be seen today. Half of the Great Barrier Reef already dead because of the increasing temperature. Global warming causes a lot of species to go extinct. It also causes extreme weather conditions. Rising temperatures may lead to droughts and increase wildfires. If people don not find a solution to global warming now then future generations will have to face a lot of difficulties. Pollution, overpopulation and global warming are destroying the Earth and the lives of future generations. People need to start taking action. The Earth is not someone`s, people cannot do whatever they want with it

Smoking is one of the biggest causes of death and health diseases. Most of the youths start smoking to improve their self image with no attention of becoming addicted. The awareness of the harmful effects of smoking among young people has been rising but many of the young people ignore the dangers of smoking. One possible solution to reduce smoking is to educate the teens. Schools could have classes and seminars that increase the knowledge about the consequences of smoking. That way teens would be

Caffeine

18 stimulant. 19 Caffeine is believed to work by blocking adenosine receptors in the brain and other organs. This 20 reduces the ability of adenosine to bind to the receptors, which would slow down cellular 21 activity. The stimulated nerve cells release the hormone epinephrine (adrenaline), which 22 increases heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow to muscles, decreases blood flow to the skin 23 and organs, and causes the liver to release glucose. Caffeine also increases levels of the 24 neurotransmitter dopamine. 25 Part of the reason caffeine is classified by the Food and Drug Administration as generally 26 recognized as safe is that toxic doses (over 1000 mg for an average adult) are much higher than 27 typically used doses. Ordinary consumption has low health risks, even when carried on for 28 years there may be a modest protective effect against some diseases, including Parkinson's

Tsunaamid

TSUNAMI Kristjan Sillaots G1R2 WHAT IS TSUNAMI? A tsunami is a series of ocean waves that sends surges of water, sometimes reaching heights of over 100 feet (30.5 meters), onto land. These walls of water can cause widespread destruction when they crash ashore. WHAT CAUSES A TSUNAMI? These awe-inspiring waves are typically caused by large, undersea earthquakes at tectonic plate boundaries. When the ocean floor at a plate boundary rises or falls suddenly, it displaces the water above it and launches the rolling waves that will become a tsunami. WHAT CAUSES A TSUNAMI? Tsunamis may also be caused by underwater landslides or volcanic eruptions. They may even be launched, as they frequently were in Earth’s

Drugs and how they affect your health.

acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is one of many chemicals called neurotransmitters that carry messages between brain cells. Neurons have special spaces called receptors, into which specific neurotransmitters can fit, like a key fitting into a lock. Nicotine locks into acetylcholine receptors in different parts of the brain, rapidly causing changes in the body and brain. Nicotine raises the heart rate and respiration (breathing) rate, and causes more glucose, or blood sugar, to be released into the blood. This might be why smokers feel more alert after smoking a cigarette. Nicotine also attaches to neurons (brain cells) that release a neurotransmitter called dopamine. Nicotine stimulates neurons to release unusually large amounts of dopamine. Dopamine stimulates the brain's pleasure and reward circuit, a group of brain structures called the limbic system involved in appetite, learning, memory, and feelings of pleasure. Normally,

Thoughts on Air Pollution Essay

These chemicals come from a variety of sources. Among the many types of air pollutants are nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxides, and organic compounds that can evaporate and enter the atmosphere. Air pollutants have sources that are both natural and human. Now, humans contribute substantially more to the air pollution problem. Forest fires, volcanic eruptions, wind erosion, pollen dispersal, evaporation of organic compounds, and natural radioactivity are all among the natural causes of air pollution. Usually, natural air pollution does not occur in abundance in particular locations. The pollution is spread around throughout the world, and as a result, poses little threat to the health of people and ecosystems. Though some pollution comes from these natural sources, most pollution is the result of human activity. The biggest causes are the operation of fossil fuel-burning power plants and automobiles that combust fuel

Wave-energy

One of these options is the usage of waves for the generation of electricity. The devices needed to perform this task are called wave energy converters. Wave energy is indirect solar energy in twice. At first there is the wind, which is caused by variations in atmospheric pressure due to a differential solar heating of earth's surface by the sun. Different regions of pressure drives a force which rises a movement of atmospheric air masses that causes the earths wind system. If wind strikes over the surface of an open water, waves are induced. First they are very flat with only a low level of energy. When there is a long distance over the water on which wind can attack the small ones, they became bigger and bigger with a lot of energy inside them. Physics of wave energy To have a better understanding of the technical possibilities to harvest the energy out of waves to convert it into electric energy it may be helpful to have a look

Most of the people don't realize what are they causing the victim, when bullying him/her. The worse cause that bullying can cause, is suicide. There is 7% of young people who attempt suicide every year. Nearly 30% of students don't go to school, because they don't want to get bullied. Also one of the worse causes is self-harming. The victim is often sad, he/she keeps distance from the others, he's/she's anxious, they have conflicts with their classmates, friends or even family. I have my own experience on bullying. I got bullied for about 4 years, until I changed school. I had a lot of mental break-downs, I used to think about suicide, I used to self-harm (just that one time), I cried myself to sleep several nights

Essay on water pollution, global warming, acid rain, deforestation, intensive farming

term. In Third World nations without pollution

Maa soojad ja külmad perioodid

hoopiski näha, et viimase kolme miljoni aasta jooksul on kliima hoopiski külmemaks muutunud. Seda toetab ka terve Fanerosoikumi graafik. Fanerosoikumis on välja joonistunud 4 suuremat sooja- ja 4 suuremat külmaperioodi. Esimene neist oli umbes 475-420 miljonit aastat e.m.a. Teine 325-275 miljonit aastat e.m.a. Kolmas neist 175-110 miljonit aastat ema. Viimane külmaperiood algas kuskil 60 miljonit aastat tagasi ja kestab tänapäevani. 11.Kasutatud kirjandus 1. Car vs horse.

I talking about that, why horse would be better than car. With horse you can run on everywhere, without damaging the ground. A horse dont need any fuel like cars, only food, water, and some vitamins. Horse does not emit toxic lead or carbon monoxide which can cause diseases on people and animals. But with horse you cant drive so fast and long distances like with car. Horse causes no traffic jam, he does not need to be managed traffic light since it travels with much slower speed and can stop faster than car. But of horse you must take more care than car. Car may stay in garage a long time, nothing happening with that, but horse often needs food and takeing more care.
