Such an angle is not an alien one to other nations either – here and there, since its very appearance, jazz has created contradictory opinions varying from deep admiration to total denial and ban. Thus the aim of this study has been to find out how jazz reached Estonia, its scope of penetration in Estonia, factors facilitating or hindering this and its influence on the general cultural (and musical) background.
