Woman and management

Woman and management Historically, women were known as the fairer sex. Usually, they had to be at home and take care of children. If their family had the means, they normally received a basic education in the arts, etiquette, manners and aspects of running a household. Women did not have any opportunity to say a word in any kind of business. They were only in a subordinate position. As the saying goes- behind every great man there is a great woman. I think that it was pretty fair that women were only at home in action with children at this time, because business were not so developed as the whole society. Good sence of authority, ability to take risks and decisiveness which are akin to men´s characteristics were good to lay the foundation for business. But also I think that going to business should not be forbidden to women. The advent of the indrustial revolution and during the World Wars, while men were at the

Film review “Scent of a Woman“ 1992 by Martin Brest

Film review "Scent of a Woman" 1992 by Martin Brest Scent of a Woman is the story of Frank Slade, a blind, retired army colonel who hires Charlie Simms, a poor college student on the verge of expulsion, to take care of him over Thanksgiving weekend. At the beginning of the weekend, Frank takes Charlie to New York, where he reveals to the student that he intends to visit his family, have a few terrific meals, sleep with a beautiful woman and, finally, commit suicide. Over the weekend, as they learn about life through their series of adventures, they start trusting eachother. Two absolute favourite scenes: The first is in the New York ballroom where the blind Lt. Colonel teaches a lady to dance the tango. It is so smooth and dramatic that even a couch potato is tempted to dance along. The second and most profound is the speech that Al Pacino makes in defense of Charlie at the prep school disciplinary hearing. It has to go

Leona Lewis"Bleeding Love"and Lenny Kravitz"American woman"

Leona Louise Lewis "Bleeding Love" and Leonard Albert "Lenny" Kravitz "American Woman" Leona Lewis, winner of the British singing contest "The X-Factor", is english pop and R'n'B singer. Her music is passionate and rhytmical, yet relaxing, enjoyed mostly by younger people. Lenny Kravitz, American singer-songwriter, is on the other hand more for old-school people, producing different styles, starting with rock and funk, to end with folk and ballads. Usually you would think, that title "Bleeding Love" would refer to something really corny, when it actually does not. The song refers to someone in a relationship, blinded by love and has no other option but to "bleed love" for a loved one. ,,American Woman" is originally written by a Canadian band The Guess Who but was differently interprated by Lenny Kravitz in 1999. Some say the ,,American Woman" refers to a Statue of Liberty or has something to do with anti-war movem...

Children while young

I think that there are not the right age for having children. It is so individual how people get ready to having them. Some of them are mature already in beginning of 20´s, therefore some people are not mentally adult even on their 30´s. Or like one of my relatives says that the best combination is young healthy woman and an older wealthy man. Also, the term young is very relative. Concidering the age of woman giving birth for the first time is about 25. It has been increased very much comparing with the ten years back time and the medium age for woman giving birth is 35. The society thinks that it is quite late and so am I. In my point of view people should have children when their health is on the best condition. So, I think that the best age for having children is befor 40´s on men and before 30´s for woman. It is well known that woman over 35 is a risky group for having children.

Gender equality in higher positions of companies

less credit for their jobs, even if they do their work really well. Every person is unique and has their own set of skills. Companies have to value people's experience, qualification and education more than their gender, race, sexual orientation or other personal aspects. Those have nothing to do with the ability of someone doing the job or how this individual will bring profit to the company. So, no company should hire or even make a job interview with a woman just because she is a woman. Vice versa, if a woman is turned down by a company just because she is a woman, is already a serious discrimination. Some parts of the he society have taken an opinion that women have to maintain their family and children. Our society itself has a negative viewpoint towards working woman who want to make career instead of a family. They believe that only men are able to handle the financial decisions and have higher leadership skills, making them part of higher positions in the companies.

What Is Marriage

WHAT IS MARRIAGE ??? ( Thoughts pouring down in ones mind ) 1. Marriage is not a word. It's a sentence (a life sentence). 2. Marriage is love. Love is blind. Therefore marriage is an institution for the blinds. 3. Marriage is an institution in which a man loses his Bachelor's Degree and the woman gets her masters. 4. Marriage is a three ring circus: engagement ring, wedding ring and suffering. 5. Married life is full of excitement and frustration: In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the NEIGHBOR listens. 6. Getting married is very much like going to a restaurant with friends. You order what you want, and when you see what the other person has, you wish

In the picture, I can see two people - a man and a woman. I think they're married. She brought some hamburgers outside to have dinner in fresh air and to please her husband. They are barbequeing outside. The man has a blue shirt, shorts and grey sneakers on. He is holding a spade (?) for cooking and flipping burgers. On his shoulder, he has a towel. The woman is wearing a white blouse and an apron. She is holding a plate with hamburgers and she is reaching it towards the man. I can also see a table and a plate with meat on it. Both, man and woman are smiling. the weather is warm and sunny and it is probably the best day for some outdoor cooking

`se turbe con la dulzura del soberano deleite, que por el Hacedor de las cosas fue puesto, porque el linaje de los hombres `se perpetuase, sin lo cual perescería. (Finch p 36) Literal Translation You know, Pármeno, that Calisto is lovesick°. And you shouldn't judge him for being weaker than it; undaunted° love conquers all things. And know that, if you don't know already, that two conclusions are true. The first, that a man is forced to love a woman and the woman love a man. The second, that he that truly loves must be bothered by the sweetness of natural delight, which the Maker of things put onto us, for the lineage of men to continue, without which it would perish°. Madonna

The look is pure subservience. The white-painted face with lips like a red gash is framed by a dead straight curtain of dark gloss hair. It is a stark image of Geisha. This is Madonna the woman who sums up feisty independence in the post-feminist era posing as a silent submissive geisha girl. She is the mistress of reinvention. From the moment the Detroit convent girl hitch-hiked to New York 20 years ago with a burning ambition to be the world's most famous woman, she has shown an amazing talent for transformation. It is no coincidence that Steven Spielberg is looking for a woman of his adaption of Arthur Golden's best-selling novel, Memories of a Geisha. And if her new Geisha look is a part of Madonna's campaign to secure the part, who can blame her? Madonna has always been a brilliant consolidator of trends, picking up on an existing look and making it her own. When she first bounced into the charts, it was a trashy punk.

Women writer's influence on our society

Women writer's influence on our society Estonian women writer's history doesn't go far back. The reason for that is that people were slaves back then. Even if there were writers, then most weren't famous and they wrote poems and stories more for themselves. Also being a woman and a writer wasn't considered as a decent job for a woman at that time. The stories that we have from that time were given to one another by talking and mostly we don't know who were the authors. Education was also very expensive so only rich people could get it and Estonians, who were just farmers, mostly didn't have money for that. First I am going to talk about Marie Heiberg. She lived 1890-1942. Her first poem collection was ,,Mure-lapse laulud" in translation ,,Problem child's songs"

Should a man be a househusband

In my opinion, a man should earn money for his family, but taking care of the house and kids should be women's chores, because every child needs mother's care and attention. Otherwise lack of it may be seen in the future and father cannot replace mother. Furthermore, men are not going to stand still and watch it uselessly. Most of them think of themselves as the family heads and they have an obsession about being the successful ones. But behind every successful man there is a woman, and it is a boost for men's ego, because they have been grown up knowing, that they are obligated to raise a family, but not to do ,,women's chores." On the other hand, I understand women, who want to make their own career to fulfil themselves as persons in their own rights, not just as "a John's wife". And a child needs a parent while growning up, not just some kind of a stranger. So, if a woman wants to earn money, the best way

Character sketch - Shel, Orlando by Virginia Woolf

He was not that rich and spent his time mostly at the sea. Before meeting Orlando he had been on his way to join his brig, but the wind blew from the wrong direction and he could not continue his journey. He was passionate about his job because he did a little model on the ground of the Cape Horn when Orlando asked about it and told stories that had happened during his travels. At the same time, Shel was afraid of the wind change because it meant he had to choose between the woman he loved and his duty as a seaman. When Orlando said that she loved Shel, they discovered something at the same time. He comprehended that Orlando was a man and Orlando realized that Shel was a woman. He could not believe that Orlando was a woman because she was ,,as tolerant and free-spoken as a man" and Orlando was astonished because Shel was ,,as strange and subtle as a woman". Sexualisation of women in advertising

One of the commercials that I am sure many of you have already seen is the following one: Page 2 of 5 http://www.defactual.com/marxism-still-relevant/ This commercial is a perfect example of the sexism previously discussed. The visual and written texts were produced by the fast food company Burger King. On the left the photo contains a young woman, with her mouth open. Her appearance clearly also plays a role in the effort to sell Burger King’s meal. Note not particularly intelligent. Adjacent to her mouth there is a sandwich that Burger King tries to sell through this add. The logo in the upper right hand corner is much smaller than the hamburger, the product being sold and the woman’s lips, which further emphasizes that sex is being used to sell as a woman’s bright red lips are associated with sex.

How far can we go being tolerant?

genitals. So, ten and more years later he was ready to give birth to a baby. Many people present, including Oprah, were tolerant about that and encouraged him, also said that it is very normal and brave thing to do. Thomas got many supporting letters from all over the world and neighbours baked cakes for him and his wife. But I was shocked to the bone by that. Who was he? A man or a woman? He was a man in appearance, but biologically a woman. He considered himself to be a man, but carried out the female social role. I am confused where are we going to end up when everyone starts having this kind of an identity crisis? I just have no idea. Continuing on the topic of operations, there is this being beautiful, perfect and forever young mentality. It has become a trend to have plastic surgery and all kind of implants when you are barely twenty five and plus, maybe even younger. The figures keep growing. No wonder, if there

George Sand

Contemporary views Sand's reputation came into question when she began sporting men's clothing in public. In addition to being comfortable, Sand's male dress enabled her to circulate more freely in Paris than most of her female contemporaries could. It gave her increased access to venues (meeting places) from which women were often barred -- even women of her social standing. Also scandalous was Sand's smoking tobacco in public. These and other behaviors were exceptional for a woman of the early and mid-19th century, when social codes were of the utmost importance. As a consequence of many untraditional aspects of her lifestyle, Sand was obliged (kohustatud) to relinquish (loovutama) some of the privileges appertaining (juurde kuuludes) to a baroness. Poet Charles Baudelaire was a contemporary critic of George Sand: "She is stupid, heavy and garrulous (lobisev). Her ideas on morals have the same depth of judgment and delicacy of

REPORTED QUESTIONS When we ask for information, we often say Do you know...?/ Could you tell me?. If you begin a question like this, the word order is different from a simple question Compare: Where has Tom gone? But Do you know where Tom has gone? * What time is it? Do you know what time it is? *Who is that woman? I don't know who that woman is. *Where can I find Linda? Can you tell me where I can find Linda? * How much will it cost? Have you any idea how much it will cost? Be careful with do/does/did questions: *What time does the film begin? Do you know what time the film begins? *What do you mean? Please explain what you mean. *Why did Ann leave early? I wonder why Ann left early. Use IF or WHETHER where there is no other question word: * Did anybody see you
