Review Raamatust Dorian Gray

Form 11B This book tells the story of a beautiful young boy, called Dorian Gray, whose friend is an artist who paints a picture of him. Thanks to the artist, called Basil Hallward, Dorian meets with Lord Henry. Lord Henry tells him, that appearance and amusements are important in life and you shouldn't take anything seriously. Doria made a wish that he could be young forever like the picture of him. Dorian discovers that he's staying young and the picture of him is getting older. Thanks to aging picture and influence of Lord Herny, he's going to live vicious life. Lord Henry just wants to play with peolple and is interested in psychology, but in my point of view he isn't bad and he didn't now that he makes Dorian a bad man. The book contains lots of vicious side of life and how people don't realize what they are

For and against being rich and famous

Secondly, if you are young and your parents are rich you can start using the advantages of being rich already as a kid. For example you can go to a private school or even to a private kindergarten. On the other hand, their wealth and fame make their life stressful. Moreover, it makes people jealous and hateful. They also don't have privacy - press is looking at the famous people all the time. This is evident from all the famous people humiliated in public. To sum up, I wish I will be a rich and famous person someday with doing what I like and want. Everybody likes to be in the public eye, at least in some ways. Most celebrities are famous for what they do and how they behave and also their job brings them pleasure. Being rich and famous hasn't hurt anyone jet and I bet it won't.

He is active and has no difficulty making new friends. I also find him to be courteous and kindhearted. If his friends are in a trouble, Robin always tries to help them. Robin can be very humorous. Sometimes it is very funny to listen to his jokes during the break. He also has an artistic side. For example, some time ago, when we were practising our play ,,Highschool Musical", Robin played different roles. For all these reasons, I really like him. I wish I could see more of him, as we see each other mostly at school. However, we chat a lot at school and sometimes we are messaging. What I like most about him is that Robin is very humorous. I´m really glad that Robin is a good friend of mine. Allan Andronik 10B

Advertisements

One only has to flip through the pages of magazines or newspapers or sit through a television program to see the wide coverage that advertisements receive in terms of space and time. Companies fork out large amounts of money just to advertise their products or services. What, the, are the benefits of advertisements ? Advertisements offer a wide variety of options to both potential buyers and sellers. Through advertisements, employers can recruit workers. People who wish to put up their properties for sale can find buyers or vice versa. Although there are grouses about advertisements, the numerous benefits of advertisements remain undisputed. Advertisements are the lifeblood of many television and radio stations. Many companies build a reputation for their products through advertisements. Sometimes companies sponsor major sporting events and help in the development of sports in the country.

harm individual initiative. For that reason, Americans tend to think of the Republican party as more conservative. There are other, smaller parties in the United States besides the two major parties. None of these smaller parties, however, has enough popular support to win a presidential election. Americans do not have to join a political party in order to vote or to be a candidate for a public office. Whether or not they belong to a party, voters may cast ballots for any candidate they wish. Everyone votes in secret, and no one can know how another votes or force another person to vote for any particular program or candidate.

things don't have names alone. I was a bit scared but I kept on going! Oh! And that reminds me! I do love my name and I am so glad it came back to me! I'm quite sure that if I had received a new one it would have not fit me at all. Not that I'm trying to praise myself but I think I'm quite kind hearted and polite too. I try not to hurt anyone's feelings and be kind to others. It breaks my heart when I'm told that the Bread-and-Butterflies die if they don't find their weak tea with cream. I wish everybody could just live happily ever after, together in harmoney.

others say that they are unlucky. In my opinion is not just people who might be lucky or unlucky- it can be single acts. When someone does not win a card game or misses a shot in basketball then they often think that they are unlucky. People who say that they have bad luck are negative. For example they woun´t even play bingo or take part in raffle. They think that because they are unlucky they can not be lucky. I am sure that if they wait something good will happen their lives. I like to wish people good luck, because i think it is a nice thing to say if someone has an interview or an exam. But people pass exams or interviews because they studied hard or spoke well, not because of luck. People who consider to be lucky just embrace that idea that they are lucky start approacing life a bit differently. And because they thing that they are lucky people take more risks haing more unplanned events. But there is also a possibility that the same event can be lucky and unlucky for a person

I would want the people to care for the nature and respect it. To sum it up, I wish I could change all that. It needs to be with all the comforts and in new or renovated condition. Kitchen should be big and spacious plus bathroom and toilet needs to be separate. Apartments with balcony or terrace, large windows and separate rooms are more appealing for me. I prefer to rent for a longer period of time with reasonable price. Range should not be over 400 which includes public utility bills. It is important that apartment has full kitchen furniture, cellar and garage for car. Neighbourhood needs to be peaceful, with nice neighbours and good public transport access. Do you have a webpage, where I could see latest apartment ads with pictures and your other offers? How to become successful?

Success is measured by everyone on their own and everyone sees success differently. If one doesn't strive towards being wealthy, but wants abundant free-time to think of oneself as successful instead, then my recommedations brought out above would be useful for them. All in all, I think figuring out the definition of successful and setting the most crucial principles are the main guidelines for one's case. So as I wish to have a decent job in the sience field, I think of those two things as of the things I have to follow.

darkglasses to avoid being recognized. Who wouldn't want to be in the spotlight? Being a celebrity means having nice cars, gigantic villas, clothes from famous fashions designers and a shot on the front cover of a magazine each week. The first answer among children to the question `Who would you like to be in the future?' most likely tends to be a singer, a model, a dancer, or simply: a superstar. Some parents wish to realise their dreams on their children. For example, in their youth they aspired to become famous, but failed and now force their children to work hard to realise their dreams for them. A perfect example for such faith is Michael Jackson. His father started to create a superstar of Michael when he was in a very early age. Many people have said that Michael Jackson lost his childhood and tried to realize it when he was a grown-up. The evil master has never been seen, only his victims. Howling and wailing have been heard. Unsettled feelings and images of being horrified have been recorded. But never a glimpse of the evil one. And so, while you read this tale, never--ever be afraid to expose and overturn those who wish you ill, if you are truly encountering evil. There are always solutions. There is always intelligence and most of all, honor and courage, and those are the best ways to solve problems. Never be a victim. Without integrity, you may become a ghost yourself.

Essee "Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining"

I always seem to surprise people with my "can-do" attitude and smiley face, especially in severe or akward situations. I tend to believe that there's always something good in bad and that things will always turn out well, no matter how hopeless circumstances might be. Some of my friends, as well as couple of my family members are strong pessimists. While spending time with them I feel how their negative and passive attitude is slowly starting to affect me too. I wish it would be the other way round - I'd affect them with my positivity. But I guess unfortunately I adopt different attitudes a lot more easily rather than spreading mine forwards. I think attitudes vary when it comes to different nationalities and cultures. While travelling, I've noticed how different people actually could be, and it depends quite much on where they are from. I think a lot of people would agree with me if

Overload on funders and advertisers: Those people who pay money to the mass media or to non-governmental organizations - advertisers and funders - are also flooded with more requests than they can meet. So it is critically important for NGOs today to produce high quality work if they wish to attract funds from donors or support from companies that have the option to spend their money on direct advertising and promotion. In view of the above, it is important for NGOs and others who wish to use the mass media and other mass-comm channels to stress quality and professionalism in the work they do, especially in their information/promotion work. I will never forget the day

I will never fotget the day... I will never forget the day when i was in the country, at my grandmother's, i was listening to the sounds of nature. Everything was quiet, as if everything was standing still. There was a gentle breeze, and the sough in the branches made the morning almost perfect. You could hear birds from further away. I was alone. I had time to enjoy the moment. I was restless and couldn't stand still, so i got up and went to do my usual affairs. To this day i still think and wish i could sit outside early in the morning and listen to the nature. Time has passed by so much, that now i spend much of my free time at the computer, and do not fall asleep until 3 in the morning, and so i do not have the time to go outside in the early mornings. Life has a habit of presenting us with obstacles which are not easy to surpass. Also, we end up in situations where we feel rage, anger, sadness and other feelings. Yet we

Singing revolution

The Soviet Union was protected with the Iron Curtain, which symbol was the Berlin wall. At the same time, not only Estonia, but also other countries that were under the authority of the Soviet Union, increased the independence efforts. People didn't want to live like this anymore, it was based on fear and commands. The start of the Estonian public announcement of the reindependence is probably the Singing Revolution. To begin with, the Singing Revolution was a non-violent wish expressing and embarked on the Soviet Union to fall apart. The Singing Revolution is a commonly used name for events between 1987 and 1990 that led to the restoration of the independence of Estonia and also Latvia and Lithuania. Afterwards, there was a spontaneous mass night-singing demonstrations at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in June 10-11 in 1988. Singing revolution is known as a revolution without blood. Its aim for Estonia was to separate from the Soviet Union. The Singing

Almond Blossoms by Vincent Van Gogh

In early 1890, Van Gogh’s brother Theo had a son who was named Vincent after the artist. The painting was a gift for his brother Theo and sister-in-law Jo, who had just had a baby son, Vincent Willem. He was very close to his brother and he thought to symbolize new life in the flowers of the almond tree for the birth of baby Vincent. In the letter announcing the new arrival, Theo wrote: ‘As we told you, we’ll name him after you, and I’m making the wish that he may be as determined and as courageous as you.’ Unsurprisingly, it was this work that remained closest to the hearts of the Van Gogh family. Currently the painting is located in Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam.

The history of movies

It also changed people's thinking. Young americans tried to copy what they saw in the movies. They dreamed about faraway places and a different kind of life. THE STORY (do houses look like in Desperate Housewives and do women look like in Baywatch). In addition the actors and actresses at this time were told to practice public behavior. Where to eat. How to dress, what they could be seen doing. Made people more equal. Rich and poor families saw the same movies. The children all shared the same wish to be like movie stars. Culture and westernization. The culture in big towns moved over to rural areas. The nation exported it-s culture through movies . Movies were actually key to the westernization of the world as 90% of all movies then were made in hollywood/us. Information travelled faster. At some point the movie companies wanted to expand and do movies further away. People needed to communicate more. Another thing that

They do not take it that serious as the other nationalities would and they are definitely the best laughers at themselves. The brightest memory I have from those two videos is that guy in the wheelchair. Unbelievable how selfish and rude they are! And no-one can do anything about that. If they say so then all the people around them have to act like they wish. They are absolutely innocently taking the advantage of other innocent people. Certainly we cannot talk about all disabled people from that point of view, but the exception affirms the rule. And in Britain, you can find a lot of exceptions. The second thing which also amused me was the humiliation of other people for unjustified reasons. The scene of a transsexual lady, feeling sick and puking in the teacup was a perfect example of humiliation in nowadays just in different context. It

MARGARET THACHER

It is a rather big achievement for a woman to become the prime minister. Back these days it was even inadmissible to believe in it. She was the only woman in the Parlament at that time. Her father was a pole model and inspiration for her ever since she was a young girl. When she saw her father giving powerful and confident speeches, it motivated her to become as looked up as her father was as a political figure. What gave her a push into politics was wish to make a change in the world, Not to become someone, but to change something that would matter. She was wise and clever enough to do so. What drove her most was her remarkably strong will to stand for her beliefs, disregarding what others said or believed to be better. She strongly believed in her decisions and never backed downs on a decision what she had made. Her terrible stubbornness is probably why she was such a success as a prime minister.

- Anonymous You know, one day you look at the person and you see something more than you did the night before. Like a switch has been flicked somewhere. And the person who was just a friend is suddenly the only person you can ever imagine yourself with. Me? I'm scared of everything. I'm scared of what I feel, of what I've said, of who I am, but most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my life the way I feel when I'm with you. I wish you could hear all the words I'm too afraid to say. A relationship is only made for two, but some bitches don't know how to count - all those moments will be lost in time , like tears in the rain . - people always tell me to follow my dreams , so thats why i follow u . - life is too short to be anything , but happy . - Don't fall in love . Fall off a bridge , it hurts less . - I'm like a butterfly ; pretty to look at , hard to catch

Artist report or review

European province of Estonia. Characteristic of Estonian folklore Kristjan Rauds work contains very few light and playful undertones. The image of a singing Kalevipoeg is one of the most joyful motifs in the artists entire work. More than 40 drawings and sketches picture Kalevipoeg as a triumphant giant standing on a hillside and singing to his brothees. In Rauds work Kalevipoeg is a joyous king forever young like the dream of ancient country people who wish for a crowned king of their own: a king never crowned. In the spring of 1940, shortly before the forceful incorporation of Estonia into the Soviet Union, the last prewar art event tok place in Estonia the year of Kristjan Raud. That year was dedicated to the artist in connection with his 75th birthday. In the winter of 1942 a few months before his death Kristjan Raud finished his composition entitled The Return of

The Picture of Dorian Gray

Movie was well done. None too big cuts. All good quotations were present but it felt to me that in some places they were a bit too forced (crammed together). Alltogether I liked the movie and it gave away the meaning of the book pretty well. The storyteller explaines in the beginning that Harry likes to play with people. Not good. The novel has no reference to Dorian being painted with an Egyptian goddess shaped like a cat who could grant his wish, as the film has. Appears throughout the whole movie. Girls signs the painting- Glaidis, Basils niece. Dorian stole her heart. Also important in later recognising the corpse. In Wilde's original, Sybil Vane is a Shakespearean actress whom Dorian observes playing Juliet, rather than the gifted dance-hall singer seen in this film. This necessitates altering Dorian's motive for breaking up with her. In the novel, her acting has become shallow as a

Robert Burns

Robert Burns is loved by all Scotsmen as their greatest poet. The future poet was fortunate in his father who was understanding, friendly and fearless man. So it was probably from him that the poet inherited his great love and undrestanding of people. From his mother he, too, learned something that was to be value to him. His mother often sang the old songs and ballads of the countryside. Although William Burns, Robert´s father, was a poor peasant, he was man who valued knowledge. His greatest wish was to give his children the best education in his power. It was from him where Robert received his love of books. When Robert was six he and his brother Gilbert went to school, but only after a few months the teacher left and the school was closed. Their father persuaded two or three neighburs to join him in engaging another teacher. The new teacher was called John Murdoch. Although he was only eighteen, he was a very clever teacher. Robert interested him more than other pupils. When Robert´s

We all have felt good about donating something.

someone I do not know if I needed it? This whole idea makes me stop and think. Health issues are very common nowadays and luckily, medical science has advanced so much that nearly everything is curable. In addition to good medical science, organ transplants have improved too. You can replace almost everything from your body. But when all of these great advances come down to a personal decision, it gets difficult. I respect donors a lot, but I wish I knew what inspired them to do so. If someone handed me a donor card to fill out, my instinct would propably be to pass it right back. I do not plan to ever get rid of any part of my body. Nor do I think I am being selfish, but giving an organ away just is not realistic. Moreover, donating an organ seems to me like giving a part of your life away. But circumstances and life can change us and our thinking.

World peace essee

happening. it's like viewing the forest while not seeing the trees rather than the opposite means around. The perennial question can invariably be wherever to begin. If we have a tendency to take time to browse the teachings of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Kung futzu or take many minutes to seem at the Bible, the common divisor lies with the "Golden Rule" that teaches "not to try to to unto others what we have a tendency to don't wish others to try to to unto us". This teaching rings true even nowadays after we look into however folks ar treated in some elements of the planet. War, violence, famine and social injustices ar all handmaids of the devil. If we attempt to treat people sort of a brother, living harmoniously with each other, treating one another justly and fairly, there would be no conflict and also the rest follows. For this reason, so as to realize world peace, we'veto begin with ourselves
