Tallinna Õismäe Gümnaasium Kanye West Referaat Koostas: Enel Rand Klass: 8A Juhendaja: Koidu Ilmjärv Tallinn 2011 Kes on Kanye West?

The West End of London

The West End Trafalgar Square is called the heart of London because it connects the political area of Westminster to the rest of West London. Lord Nelson's column stands in the center of the beautiful square. Horatio Nelson was a great British commander who defeated Napoleon in the Battle of Trafalgar but unfortunately he himself was killed. To the north and west from the Trafalgar Square is the West End, which is London's main shopping and entertainment area. Most of London's best residential and commercial areas are in the West End. You can find there expensive shops, restaurants, hotels, museums and many art galleries. Great Britain's biggest department store is in Knightsbridge. It was founded in 1834 by Charles Henry Harrod. Harrods is also the world's first building with an escalator. Today Harrods is an amazing place with over 330 shops, which

Retsensioon "West Side Story" (muusikal)

,,WEST SIDE STORY" 8. mätrsil 2005.a käisin Vanemuise suures majas vaatamas Ain Mäeotsa lavastatud muusikali ,,West Side Story" Tegemist oli kahe vaatusega etendusega.

Geography of Madagascar

topographies: rounded and eroded hills, massive . granite outcrops and alluvial plains and marshes. The central highlands include the Anjafy High Plateaux and the Ankaratra Massif. A prominent feature of the central highlands is a rift valley, the largest body of water on the island, having a length of forty kilometers. This region has experienced geological subsidence, and earth tremors are frequent here. The west coast The west coast, composed of sedimentary formations deposited in several layers over time, is more indented than the east coast. Deep bays and well-protected harbors have attracted explorers, traders, and pirates from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The area has served as an important bridge between Madagascar and the outside world. The southwest The southwest is bordered on the east by the Ivakoany Massif and on the north by the Isala Roiniforme Massif.

Hornet's nest

To begin with, although this book is considered to be a thriller, it is rather a book about the personalities of the main characters. The main characters are unhappily married Judy Hammer a police chief in Charlotte, Hammer's deputy 42-year-old volunteer policewoman Virginia West and a young handsome volunteer reporter Andy Brazil, who is assigned to ride with West while doing the casual patrol. It is story about the relationship between Andy Brazil and Virginia West. Deputy chief Virginia West likes and respects her boss. But with an increasing number of visiting businessmen being murdered in her city by a maniac who is painting his victims bright orange, she finds it hard to accept Hammer's edict that a rookie reporter should ride on patrol with her to better relations with their citizens. Her worst fears are confirmed when the reporter, Brazil, presses the button to activate the boot-release rather than the siren on their first outing

Population

Nowadays all Welsh, Scottish and Irish people speak English (even if they speak their own language as well), but all the countries have their own special accents and dialects, and their people are easily recognizable as soon as they speak. A southern English accent is usually taught to foreigners as it is the most easily understood. Regional movements of people For over a century there has been a drift of people from the north and west to the south-east of England. Some of the major reasons for this movement are listed here. 48. A decline in the farming workforce and rural population (rural depopulation). 49. The exhaustion of raw materials (coal and iron ore). 50. The decline of the basic heavy industries, such as steel, textiles and shipbuilding. Those wishing to work had to move south. 51. Higher birth rate in the industrial cities meant more potential job-seekers. Movements away from conurbations

Topic: Canada

North America, from Newfoundland to British Columbia. Over 5000 km of border separate Canada and the United States. Climate/Land The northern part of Canada has very long, cold winters. Over most of the rest of Canada the winter are longer and colder than in the United States. Only in the southern part and on the west coast is the climate as mild as in the western part of the United States. Towering mountains, crystal-clear lakes and green forests make Canada's far west a beautiful region. Fields of wheat and other grains cover Canada's vast prairies. Much of Canada is covered with forests. Western forests produce much timber. Much of Canada's soil is thin and rather poor. During the Ice Age almost all of Canada was covered with sheets of ice. These ice sheets moved southward. As they did so, the carried away much soil from Canada and pushed it down into the United States. Stretching west from the Great Lakes and Hudson Bay there are great prairies

border. Canada`s northen coast is washed by Arctic Ocean, eastern coast by the Atlantic Ocean and western coast by the Pacific Ocean. Canada is so big that it contains six time zones. This huge land mass has been divided by nature into 6 distinct geographical regions. Stretching across the north is the Artic region. On the east there is another geographical unit called the Applachian Region after the range of mountains which run through the New England states north into Canada. Moving west, we come to the largest region of all, the Canadian Shield. This extends like a huge semi-circular ring around Hudson Bay. It is rugged, stony and with thin soil. Southeast of the Shield is the Valley of the St. Lawrence River which embraces the parts of Quebec and Ontario that lie along that river and Lakes Ontario and Eire. West of the Shield, we find two vertical bands of land that run from the Arctic southward into the US. This is called the Interior Plains Region

New Zealand beaches

Even though New Zealand is only about the same size as Colorado, the large coastline is possible because it is extremely iregular and indented. New Zealand's coastline is packed with deep coves, bays, intricate harbours, long sounds, and steep fiords. Its territorial waters stretch from the sub-tropical through to the sub-antarctic. Both islands tend to have better swimming beaches on their eastern coasts and the further north you go. The west coasts of both islands are quite rugged with cliffs and more unsettled weather. There are however some suitable swimming and bathing beaches here, with iron (volcanic) sand beaches (black sand) being common on the North Island. The longest beach in New Zealand is the 90 mile beach, which is actually about 60 miles long. This beach is famous for its huge sand dunes and resembles the Sahara Desert in places. This beach occupies the north western coastline of the North Island.

the world rather than the industrialized nations. 3. After the World War Two the United States and the USSR were the dominant military powers in the world, but they had very different forms of government and economy, the USA a capitalist democracy, USSR a communist dictatorship. The two nations were rivals who feared each other, each ideologically opposed. The war also left Russia in control of large areas of Eastern Europe, and the US led Allies in control of the West (each had atomic weapons) . Arguments also rose about Poland. The USSR wanted Poland to have a communist government while the others wanted a democratic. Finally they agreed on democratic elections but most of the candidates were communist so the communist still got to power. In between the countries which were controlled by the communist and the countries which were on the USA's side an iron curtain was drawn. Military

Hip-hop

gangsta rap became a major part of American music, causing significant controversy over lyrics which were perceived by some as promoting violence, promiscuity, drug use and misogyny. Nevertheless, hip hop continued to increase in popularity, and by the year 2000, it was a staple of popular music charts. In the 1990s, gangsta rap became mainstream, beginning in 1992, with the release of Dr. Dre's The Chronic. This album established a style called G Funk, which soon came to dominate West Coast hiphop. Other artists such as Tupac Shakur (a.k.a. 2Pac), who would start his rapping career in 1991, would dominate in the 90s (before being shot and killed in a drive-by in 1996) becoming the highest selling rapper ever with over 75,000,000 albums sold world wide and played a major role in the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry having beefs with East Coast rappers The Notorious B.I.G. (a.k.a. Biggie) and Sean "Puffy" Combs (now known as Diddy) and Bad Boy Records. Also The Notorious B

When it came to her personality, Jordan was portrayed to be quite arrogant and restless, and she somehow thought herself to be better than others, especially, when it concerned the people who lived in West Egg. For example, the first time she spoke to Nick "she remarked contemptuously, that he lived in West Egg" (Fitzgerald 1993: 27). West Egg represented people, who had become rich on their own hard work, also known as "new money", whereas East Egg symbolized ageing and established aristocracy, "old money". Nick himself pointed out that "the less fashionable of the two /.../" (Fitzgerald 1993: 22) was West Egg. Jordan constantly had an attitude about her, which showed like she did not care for

Christopher Columbus

He first went to sea at the age of 1465 at the age of 14. He was a deck boy and he had to clean, cook and mend clothes. By the age of 30 he was an experienced sailor and a skilful navigator. He had made many journeys to the South Atlantic from his home the Madeira Islands. He also sailed to Bristol and Galway. Many people believed that he had also sailed to the north of Iceland in 1477. During those visits Columbus heard stories about life to the west of Europe. His ambition to find the shortest and safest sea route to the riches of the Far East started to grow. Gradually he worked out his plan to reach the East by sailing west. In 1482 Columbus tried to interest the Portugese king, Joao III, in his journey. The Portugese king had tried to find a route to the Indies from the east for a long time. Columbus explained that he believed he could reach the Indies from the west. In 1483

Agriculture

Agriculture About 77 per cent of the land area of Britain is under agricultural use of some sort. However, the sector's role in the economy is much smaller than in most other major industrial countries, in terms of employment and contribution to GDP, reflecting Britain's early industrialization. Agriculture employs less than 2 per cent of the population and contributes 2 per cent of GDP. However, it achieves high levels of efficiency and productivity. Britain is self-sufficient in 58 per cent of all types of food and animal feed. Large parts of Britain, notably in Scotland and Wales, are suitable only for grazing. Overall, in the first half of the 1990s about 39 per cent of agricultural land was under pasture, another 27 per cent under rough grazing, and the remainder under crops or lying fallow. Over half of all full-time farms are devoted to dairy or beef farming, or sheep. Cattle and sheep con...
