Collecting and recording fish data reveals what species are surviving and inhabiting a particular stream system and to what extent the aquatic ecosystem is maintaining that population. Depending on the type of stream visited and the field chemistry and habitat measurements taken, biologists have certain expectations of what type of species they should expect to find. When this ends up not being the case, as where warm water pollutant tolerant species are found in what would be considered cold water species habitat, then the biologists look closer into possible causes for the ecological imbalance. When combined with water chemistry, habitat, and stream invertebrate information, a clear picture of the ecological system is brought in to focus from which sound management decisions can be made. 8.1 Introduction · Electrofishing - use of electricity to: capture fish guide fish block the movement of fish

Common Kingfisher - Jäälind

In Finland it lives at south coast, in Africa it lives in north from Sahara. In Asia it lives in North-Turkey, Caucasia, West-Iran, India, East-China and more. It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter. In winter Common Kingfisher travels from north to Mediterranean countries. It is a rare bird in Estonia, up to 1000 birds in summer, and 100 birds in winter. Common Kingfisher likes to live by rivers with steep riverside banks, where the water is clean and still, and flow is slow. It prefers rivers with bushes and trees at the riverside. In the mountains it can live near the lakes up to 2km high. Common Kingfisher breeds 6-7 eggs a time for 19-21 days. Only mother feeds the birds, although father is always nearby. After breeding time the relationship between parents ends and they break up. Common Kingfisher eats mostly fish, whose length does not exceed 6cm. It also eats

world countries? I had thought about it before, however newer as thoroughly as William Sutcliffes novel made me think. The author writes about the struggles and triumphs in adjusting to major environmental changes and issues with other travellers that appear in every other backpackers journey. The book is entertaining though it’s full of problems that the 3 rd world has and it highlights them in almost unnoticeable ways. “Are you experienced “ draws attention to food and water problems that are common in India. There were many detailed descriptions of diseases and parasites, they were rather disgusting. Even the thought of the situation where locals can’t drink tap water or they even don’t have running water in house makes reader as me aware of the issues and makes me appreciate what I have. The issues raised in the book were taken from life and most of them are part of travellers life,

TOPICS FOR SPEAKING CYLINDER FRAME The cylinder section of the engine consists of a number of cylinder blocks, which are tightened together with the engine frame and the bedplate by means of through- going stay bolts. Two central bores, one at the top and one halfway down inside the cylinder block, enclose the cylinder liner. The upper part of the cylinder block forms part of the cooling water space around the central part of the cylinder liner, whereas the lower part forms the scavenge air space. A central bore in the bottom of the cylinder block encloses the piston rod stuffing box. The bottom is double with a hollow space through which cooling water is circulated. On the exhaust side of the cylinder block there is a circular opening leading into the longitudinal scavenge air receiver of the engine. Furthermore, there is an inlet pipe for cooling and lubricating oil

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

There is a saying that „we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.“ Nowadays people don not think about it and are ruining the planet. There are researches which say that the human life on Earth will go extinct within a century. Eventually the Earth will become uninhabitable. People cannot change the past but their actions affect the future. One of the ways how people are affecting the lives of future generations is increasing pollution. Clean air and water are the most valuable resources, but they are getting more and more polluted. For example the air in China is so polluted that people need to wear masks. The pollution of water kills hundreds of thousands of water animals and birds. Some of the big companies have accepted the problem and are taking action. For example McDonald`s and Burger King are not using plastic straws anymore. Second thing that affects the life on Earth is overpopulation. The estimated population in 2050 is near 10 billion

For thousands of years Aborigines lived as hunter-gatherers along the coast and in the inland desert areas, following the same lifestyle as their ancestors. 3. Finding food and water Aboriginal tribes obtained water from trees and roots and even squeezed water out of the bodies of frogs. Women collected anything that grew or moved, including fruit, lizards, snakes, roots, grass, etc. Their skill in finding food even in the most extreme conditions often kept the whole group alive. 4. Siseriiklik tasand: Eesti kui teised riigid maailmas ka väga muretsetud veekriisi probleemiga. Selle pärast üle Eestis toimuvad erinevad koosolekud, kus arutlevad veekriisi probleemist. Kuid tõhusam probleemi lahendamine siiski toimub kohalikul tasandil (Globaalprobleemid 2011). Minu meelset on kak olulised siseriiklikud laste konkursid, kus Eesti koolinoored võttavad osa rahvusvahelises võistlustel "Stockholmi veeauhind noortele" (Stockholm Junior Water Prize, SJWP). I don' t throw my garbage to outside, i put it in the garbage bin. I will try to sort my garbage. But there's also things why I am forced to ruin nature . I really don 't wanna do that but I can't change it anyhow. I'm forced to do it because in that department whe I live , here is no drainpipe. Because of that we have to throw all our used water to the nature. Everything what we do, what needs to waste water, that's goes all to the nature . It' sad because of that we don't have that drainpipe, our life is so complicated . It takes a lot of time. I think that is the only thing how I pollute the nature.

flooding in april. It is called to be the fifth season. A lot of rich soil are situated near the pärnu river, for example some of the biggest farmlands are situated in the Järva county. 83% of phosphorus and 79% of nitrogen originates from human activities of the total discharge of biogenes from Pärnu River basin. The soil does not bind a huge amount of the nutrients. 65 % of the treatment plants are over 15 years of age and most of them are programmed in a way, that when the water level exceeds some point, the sewage water will be sent directly to the outflow or in some cases to some biopools. There are a lot of straight drainage systems, ditches and dykes near the forests and farmlands which used to be excessively damp. This contributes a lot to the flooding in the spring, because the water will reach the main river in a very short time. The flood plain grasslands located along the riverbanks are the typical example of plant

Mangrove forest

MIS ON MANGROVE FOREST ÜLDSE? Mangrove swamps are found in tropical and subtropical tidal areas. Many mangrove forests can be recognized by their dense tangle of prop roots that make the trees appear to be standing on stilts above the water. This tangle of roots allows the trees to handle the daily rise and fall of tides, which means that most mangroves get flooded at least twice per day. The roots also slow the movement of tidal waters, causing sediments to settle out of the water and build up the muddy bottom. KAARDIGA SLAID Mangroves can be found in over 118 countries and territories in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The largest percentage of mangroves is found between 5° (degrees hääldad seda kraadi märki) North and 5° South latitudes.[20] Approximately 75% of world's mangroves are found in just 15 countries. Asia has the largest amount (42%) of the world's mangroves, followed by Africa (21%), North/Central America (15%), Oceania (12%) and

Austraalia referaat inglise keeles

History Australia was once a part of the giant continent Gondwana. It included Africa, South America and Antarctica. First Australia and Antarctica split from Gondwana, then Australia broke away from Antarctica and began to move north. Aborigines arrived there about 50 000 years ago. They had occupied the whole continent by 30 000 years ago. At that time Tasmania was still part of the mainland. About 20 000 years ago the ice began to melt and the rising water level cut Tasmania off from the mainland. Traders from what is now Indonesia are thought to have been visiting Australia well before the 17th century. Chinese, Malaysian and Arab sea Captains may also have landed in Northern Australia after the 15 th century. Still Australia remained unexplored until 17th century. One reasons Australia remained undiscovered was that it was located off the trading corridor of the Indian and Pacific.

Essay living forever

Corralejo is the largest resort on Fuerteventura. Town Beach, with its calm waters, is best for families. Diving, fishing, and tours to nearby islands are other popular pursuits. One of the Sundays will be the most fun because we’re going too an island. After that, I might go swimming with my family. When we get there I will play volleyball mostly. Since the summer gets really hot I will enjoy getting wet at the beach. I may fish there, too. I hope I catch a fish to eat. When I go to the water park I will run through the water and get wet. I could always take my water gun and spray myself, too. My Dad and I might have a water balloon fight. Spain is a wonderful country, I especially like the language they speak and the free life they do. There’s just so much fun stuff to do in the summer at Spain . Than as soon as I get back I think I’ll relax after the vacations I had, then I will try improvise something useful until university starts on October .

Life in future

Life in future I think that technology will definitely influence our lives, but I don't think that life will be better than now, rather worse. The air won't be suitable for breathing so there will be probably some kind of masks or glass cities, where to live. Water won't be drinkable and people will buy all needful water from shops, actually not from shops but from the internet, because there won't be shops anymore. Food nearly won't exist anymore; energy will come in tablet form. Transport will be a lot comfortable and faster. Cars will be soundless and all vehicles will whir ten times faster. You will think nothing of taking a holiday in outer space. Students will learn from TV, recorders and teaching machines. They will get pills to make them learn faster. We shall be healthier, too

1 5. What gives introducing of Reynolds, Mach and other numbers in Fluid Dynamics? This numbers help us to divide flow into different cases. For example high Re number tell us, what we deal with turbulent flow. If Re number is low, we have laminar flow. Much number is commonly used to represent the speed of an object when it is traveling close to or above the speed of sound. Froude number is used to determine the resistance of an object moving through water, and permits the comparison of objects of different sizes. For Fr < 1 the flow is called a subcritical flow, further for Fr > 1 the flow is characterised as supercritical flow. When Fr 1 the flow is denoted as critical flow. 6. How can be investigated fluid flow with heating? 1 If we have changing in the temperature, we should use special type of equation (add equation for density). In this case we have dependence of the density in coordinates. When changes are very small, we can

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS

become increasingly aware of the problems that surround it. With a massive influx of natural disasters people need to be aware of what types of environmental problems our planet is facing. Current environmental problems make us vulnerable to disasters and tragedies, now and in the future. Unless we address the various issues seriously we are surely doomed for disaster. Current environmental problems require urgent attention. 1. Pollution: Pollution of air, water and soil require millions of years to recoup. Industry and motor vehicle exhaust are the number one pollutants. Heavy metals, nitrates and plastic are toxins responsible for pollution. While water pollution is caused by oil spill, acid rain, urban runoff; air pollution is caused by various gases and toxins released by industries and factories and burning of fossil fuels; soil pollution is majorly caused by industrial waste that deprives soil from essential nutrients.

Estonian Language

Estonian Language Estonian laguage(previously called ,,ground language" by estonians in old days) belongs into Finno-Ugric language group. It is spoken by about 1.1 million people, mostly in Estonia. Some people have said Estonian reminds them of the sound of babbling water. Some non-Estonian people I know just say it sounds weird. Estonian language is closely related to Finnish. Originally they were a single language but they parted about 5000 years ago. Most of Estonian vocabulary is borrowed from other languages like German ang English. Very few of Estonian words are originally Estonian. For example, suu (mouth), vesi (water) and ema (mother). One thing that features Estonian is that unlike any other language, Estonian has three degrees of phoneme lenght: short, long and overlong. Pronouncing the phoneme differently can change the meaning of the word. There are many different dialects in Estonian langu...

Enivornment in Estonia - Problems and solutions

Environment in Estonia Nowadays environmental problems are too big to be managed by individual persons or individual countries. In other words, it is an international problem. But what are the biggest problems in Estonia, why and how people could solve it? Air, water, and land pollution rank among Estonia's most significant environmental challenges. The combination of 300,000 tons of dust from the burning of oil shale by power plants in the northeast part of the country and airborne pollutants from industrial centers in Poland and Germany poses a significant hazard to Estonia's air quality. Estonia's water resources have been affected by agricultural and industrial pollutants, including petroleum products, which have also

symbolizes renewal, calm, wonder and continuity in the hereafter. Stones. They are laid out in accordance with strict rules, depending on their shapes and sizes; they often are twinned by pairs. The type of stone to use is one of the most important element, in the design of a Japanese garden. Lantern. Whether they are rounded, arc-shaped or in zigzags, they always remain in harmony with the surrounding nature. Carps.
