Actually an MPs spends more time than an average person at work, the debates may continue into the night and this way it is one of the longest sitting Parliament in Europe. MP's mornings are takes up with committee work, research and preapearing their speeches. In the weekends they are supposed to be visiting the places they represent. They have very little time for their families. The party system MPs know that they owe their position in the Parliament to their party so they usually vote as their party tells them to. This is controlled by the Whips (MPs chosen among each others from their parties). They inform the MPs how to vote. There is a tradition that if the government loses a vote in a in Parliament on a big matter they must resign so for the voting day all the MPs have to vote even if they hadn't been there for the debates. Political parties in the US

They often accuse the Democrats of making the government too expensive and of creating too many laws that harm individual initiative. For that reason, Americans tend to think of the Republican party as more conservative. There are other, smaller parties in the United States besides the two major parties. None of these smaller parties, however, has enough popular support to win a presidential election. Americans do not have to join a political party in order to vote or to be a candidate for a public office. Whether or not they belong to a party, voters may cast ballots for any candidate they wish. Everyone votes in secret, and no one can know how another votes or force another person to vote for any particular program or candidate.

At the end of 19th century, people started realizing that workhouses are terrible places and they were improved greatly(better healthcare, different rules to working and people who are accomodated) Life of women Women were supposed to stay at home and look after the children and house. Lessons for the future

It gets much worse. Too many children do not even know who are Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy or where the headquarters of European Union is located. Even if such people opt to go to election some day, they will probably make their decision based on which party's name they have heard the most or who had the most beautiful advertisement on the wall of local mall or who coaxed them with most pens and pencil before the election day. The results of elections are much different if young people vote for politicians whose name is just popular or who gave them a dull coffee mug with his or her party's logo on it. In Estonia, young people often go with the flow of Reformierakond for example, because it seems to be ,,pretty normal" organisation. I am sure that if youngsters would find out for what one or another party stands for, they will discover that they voted for absolutely wrong party, for example a 18-year-old boy gave a vote to right-sided faction although his thoughts are the

History of the USA.

In 1865 the South accepted the loss. Lincoln was shot in 1865 and the next president wasn't strong enough to unite the country, so problems weren't solved. At the beginning of the 19th century many settlers came to America, in search for a better life. By the middle of the 19th century there were already 34 states in the USA. The United States grew to be one of the great powers of the world. The nation fought in the First World War. After the war women got the right to vote for the first time. In 1929 the Great Depression began with the stock market crash. Banks, factories and farms shut down and many Americans were unemployed. Franklin D. Roosevelt, who won the presidential election in 1932, promised a New Deal. Over the next two years, millions of unemployed were given jobs and numerous measures were also taken to help the farmers. In 1941 the United States entered the Second World War when Japan attacked the Hawaiian Islands

Comparison of Estonian and British State system

I previously talked about parliaments and that leads me to the first similarity: in both systems the head of the parliament is Prime Minister, current Prime minister in United Kingdom is Theresa May and in Estonia Taavi Rõivas. The second similarity is the election to the parliament in both countries you have to be at least 21 years old and there are some other criterias to match like mental health and imprisonment. And in both countries you have to be at least 18 years old to vote. When you think about it like that there is not too much in common, but at least these two systems have the same mission to handle to keep these two totally different countries operative. And thats it.

Men and women in politics

Over the past decade, women have resolved into leadership positions, encouraging the same sex to voice their opinions in voting booths, political debates, and society. Not only in America, but nationwide. Women comprise over 35 percent of the lower house in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Demark; 15 percent or less are seen in parliaments within ten countries . Over the years, women had to protest and fight for this right so that young women today can vote and have a say so in who represents the people of our city, state, and country. A woman's influence in politics has yet to be recognized as a true political voice of women that actually yields power. Perceptions of women and politics from the media, society, men, and even women themselves have shaped women's ability everywhere to participate politically and socially within our society. The United States, as well as many other countries, has various beliefs regarding the

It allows people to work from their home, to form friendships from home, to vote and discuss social issues from home. Internet communications can potentially displace face-to-face communications. People tend to loose their real-life communication skills and the generation growing up now has bigger chance to face the problems similar to social anxiety. This can happen especially if the motion concerns a consensual or non-controversial political project, or even a question for which MPs' will vote according to their "moral convictions", rather than the politics of their party. In such cases, governments traditionally allows members the freedom to vote according to their conscience. Two important examples of Private Members Bills have been passed by Parliament are the law to abolish the death penalty (Murder Act of 1965 ), and the law authorizing abortion (1967). Territoriality The British Parliament is both Parliament of England and Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, later Windsor (1901-...): The first king of this period was Edward VII, the eldest son of Victoria and Albert. He enjoyed active social life and had several mistresses (hence the name `the Playboy King'). George V was confronted with many crises, including World War I, Ireland's fight for independence, women's battle to secure the vote, the General Strike, the Great Depression and the rise of Hitler's Nazis. The family name was changed into `Windsor' in 1917. World War I (1914-1918) was a war in Europe fought between France, the UK and the British Empire, Russia and the US (`the Allies') on one side and Germany, Austria-Hungary and Turkey on the other side. As for voting, the Reform Act of 1832 gave the vote to all men who owned a house. Later, in 1928, all men and women over 21 had the right to vote. The General Strike on 04

since dissolved. In 2010, Russell Group members received approximately two-thirds of all university research grant and contract income in the United Kingdom. [1] The group is widely perceived as representing the best universities in the country.[2] Parliamentary democracy The UK is a parliamentary democracy: government is voted into power by the people, to act in the interests of the people. Every adult has the right to vote - known as 'universal suffrage'. Constitutional monarchy The UK is also a constitutional monarchy - the head of state is the monarch (currently Queen Elizabeth II), who remains politically impartial and with limited powers. The single most important fact in understanding the nature of the British political system is its fundamental continuity. Britain has not had a revolution of the kind experienced by so many other countries and Britain has not been invaded or occupied for almost 1,000 years.

Policy of 2016

In November 8, 2016, the United States had 58th presidential election. The biggest nominees were Donald Trump, who won 30 states, and Hillary Clinton, who won 20 states. Hillay had 48% of the votes and Donald 46%, but Donald won, because of the winning number of the states. I do not like him at all, because he is racist and he is patronising women. He says what he thinks and he does not care if it is hurting somebody. That is why people vote for him, because of the haranguing. Similarly to Brexit, after the voting results, plenty of people regretted their choise. Now, since 20 January 2017, Donald Trump is the USA president. We do not know what is going to happen and what will he really do, but we do know, that people are afraid of his promises and they are fighting against it. I hope that people would not give up for their hopefulness and they would not let him control their lives.

Estonian Independence Day

institutions. Prior to its forceful dissolution by Bolshevik authorities, and the foreseeable invasion by German forces, the Maapäev took a decisive step toward sovereignty by declaring itself the supreme authority in Estonia on November 15, 1917. Independence Proclaimed The elections to the Estonian Constituent Assembly were held on February 3-4, 1918. Parties which supported the idea of national independence, gained two-thirds of the popular vote. With Soviet forces hastily retreating and German forces advancing, the Maapäev elected a three-member Salvation Committee, Päästekomitee, and granted it full decision-making powers to ensure the continued activity of the Maapäev. The Päästekomitee drafted a declaration of independence. On February 19, 1918 the Elders of the Maapäev approved the manifesto and on February 24, 1918 the Päästekomitee publicly proclaimed Estonia an independent and democratic Republic.

Political analysis (PEST) Lithuania

Tax policy After regaining independence in 1990, Lithuania is a fully functional parliamentary democracy. The chief of state is the president, and the head of the government is the premier. The president is directly elected by the people and serves a 5-year term. The parliament, known as the Seimas, has 141 members who are elected for 4-year terms. Of these, 71 are directly elected by the people and 70 are elected by proportional vote. The tax burden, at some one-third of the GDP is moderate by international standards and will further be reduced as the liberalization progresses. These are mainly income and value-added taxes . Tax revenues come from a variety of sources. Goods that are imported into Lithuania face import duties that range from 10 to 100 percent (but average 15 percent on most goods). The highest tariffs are on tobacco, automobiles, jewelry, and gasoline.

European Union Exam

There needs to be a fundamental shift of power down to the lower levels, closer to the people and to the problems. There needs to be an introduction of democracy at the place of work in order to transform the labour/capital conflict, and in the local community. We shall now look at these in turn. Second order national elections (Reif and Schmitt, 1980) - National electoral programmes (developed by national parties) + very small room for European programmes - Debate and vote focussed on national issues (few exceptions Bolkenstein / constitution) – retrospective / protest vote - List of candidates defined by national parties - Party and voters’ perspective – lower relevance than „first order elections“ – no govt. - Lower turnout if compared to national elections - Protest vote and retrospective judgement - Sanction towards governing parties (no consequences on the govt.)
