Proposal

Dear Sir/Madam, I read with great regret that you want to reduce the funding for English college Film Club. I would like propose the ideas to enhance the Film Club to not to lose the funding. I will try to change your mind by bringing out folowing reasons. Firstly, Film Club evenings take plave on Fridays 6-10 pm. Usually films are in English and quiz evenings about films are always very popular. Students like to relax and communicate with each other, it is also popular because watching films is not too physically demanding. Secondly, there are some problems but Film Club team is trying to solve them. The biggest problem is lack of money and because of that we would like to raise the entry fee. Friends have more Influence than Family on Teenagers

Friends have more Influence than Family on Teenagers Human interaction plays a vital role in our existence. It isn't abnormal for people to learn from each other or act according to the social norm set by others. In their teens, people begin to form strong connections with other individuals their own age this may inherently play a role in how we act. The connection made between friends is usually much stronger than between family members. With teens, there is always a `rebellious' factor in play, which may make them adapt certain behaviors or ideas from our friends, in order to appease the inner rebel inside of us. Teenagers act according to the norm that is prominent in the group they are apart of. For example, the punk movement will possibly penetrate different groups and to feel apart of the group, teens will also dress accordingly.

There are two types of stator winding methods forstepper motors: bipolar and unipolar. Bipolar windings use field coils with no common connections. The coils must be driven independently to reverse the direction of motor flow and rotate the motor. Unipolar motors use coils with centertaps. The centertap is usually connected to the positive supply, and the individual coils are grounded (through transistors) to drive the motor. Each time the field is changed in a bipolar motor or a different coil isturned on in a unipolar motor, the motor shaft steps to the next rotation position. Typical step sizes for a stepper are 7.5° or 15°. A 7.5° stepper will have360/7.5 or 48 steps per revolution. The step size depends on the number of rotor and stator teeth. 3

First of all, the main what attracts people abroad are journeys. People want to widen their outlook. Tallinn is the right place for tourists who want to get know about the medieval life in Europe. Here are such attractions as the Medieval Old Town, Kadriorg Park and Rusalka monument. These are the main places people usually want to visit. So, we must develop our tourism system. For example, make up some journey programmes with elements of the Estonian tales. That certainly attracts much more tourists in Tallinn. Moreover, Tallinn has the good benefit in its geographical location. Estonia is like a bridge or gate between Europe and Russia. And Tallinn is the heart of Estonia its capital. Rural versus Urban

Another big plus for rural environment is clean and beautiful nature. Forests where you can go camping and lakes where you can go swimming. It may look very exciting to an urban people but it may seem boring to rural people. So, good thing about living in city is that there are probably many more people who you can meet with. Thanks to this there is a bigger possibility that you would find yourself a girlfriend or a boyfriend or just some very good friend. Also when you are an athlete there are usually better conditions to sport. So I think that you can't tell that one society is better than another. I think that people should try both and then decide which one he likes better. And also I think that your opinion may change during the years.

Leona Lewis"Bleeding Love"and Lenny Kravitz"American woman"

Leona Louise Lewis "Bleeding Love" and Leonard Albert "Lenny" Kravitz "American Woman" Leona Lewis, winner of the British singing contest "The X-Factor", is english pop and R'n'B singer. Her music is passionate and rhytmical, yet relaxing, enjoyed mostly by younger people. Lenny Kravitz, American singer-songwriter, is on the other hand more for old-school people, producing different styles, starting with rock and funk, to end with folk and ballads. Usually you would think, that title "Bleeding Love" would refer to something really corny, when it actually does not. The song refers to someone in a relationship, blinded by love and has no other option but to "bleed love" for a loved one. ,,American Woman" is originally written by a Canadian band The Guess Who but was differently interprated by Lenny Kravitz in 1999. Some say the ,,American Woman" refers to a Statue of Liberty or has something to do with anti-war movem...

ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM

The term acid rain refers to what scientists call acid deposition. It is caused by airborne acidic pollutants and has highly destructive results. Scientists first discovered acid rain in 1852, when the English chemist Robert Agnus invented the term. From then until now, acid rain has been an issue of intense debate among scientists and policy makers. Acid rain, one of the most important environmental problems of all, cannot be seen. The invisible gases that cause acid rain usually come from automobiles or coal-burning power plants. Acid rain moves easily, affecting locations far beyond those that let out the pollution. As a result, this global pollution issue causes great debates between countries that fight over polluting each other's environments. For years, science studied the true causes of acid rain. Some scientists concluded that human production was primarily responsible, while others cited natural causes as well

Making a film

Whatever kind of movie you make, it must have a clear idea, because the audience needs to understand the content. Film-making is very expensive, even about 15 minutes long film can cost over 30,000 pounds to make. A low-budget feature-length film can cost more than 0,5 million pounds. Therefore, film-maker must be sure that audience will like the movie. Low-budget films in Britain usually begin with a script, which is written specially for playing in the cinema. There are courses over Britain for people who want to learn how to write a script. One person can't take the responsibility of the whole movie, because film-making needs to involve hundreds of people. Low-budget films are shot on limited budget, beacause young or unknown dircetors suffer from lack of funding from studios.

Should advertisements promoting alcohol be banned?

Should advertisements promoting alcohol be banned? Nowadays lots of people drink alcoholic drinks. While I think that drinking alcoholic drinks is up to every person himself, I am strongly opposed to advertisements promoting alcohol. Firstly, seeing, for example, a cold bottle of beer with water drops on it on TV is very tempting. It looks so beautiful and fresh and that makes you think that you have to buy it. Usually people do not think that it looks good only on TV and those drinks are harmful for health. Furthermore, advertisements promoting alcohol show that drinking alcohol makes people cooler and parties better. In these advertisements all the people are smiling, nobody is angry and everybody feels at ease. But in real life these parties are not so good, some people, who are really drunk, start to fight with other ones. Also, it is not unusual for some people to end their party in hospital.

Report - how to make buildings more crime-proof

To: The Crime Prevention Officer From: - Date: 28 October 2010 Subject: Increase in crimes Introduction The purpose of this report is to suggest reasons why criminals target the area and give some advice on how to make buildings more crime-proof. 1 Inveiglement Firstly, people keep their valuable items in the visible places like on the window sill and that entices the criminals. Recommendation: Valuable items should be put away, where it is impossible to see them from the window. 2 Security systems Another thing to mention is that people do not give much attention to the security of their houses. That decreases dread of being caught and criminals are getting more and more impudent. Recommendation: Security systems and security cameras should be installed in the buildings. That increases the chance that the criminals will be caught or they dare not to commit the crime. 3 Dogs Finally, burglars can easily hide themselves behind the ...

Description of an animal

Endangered animal koala bear Though often called the koala "bear," this cuddly animal is not a bear at all, it is a marsupial. Koalas live in eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees they love are most plentiful. In fact, they rarely leave these trees. That is why they are usually called "treehuggers". Koalas have thick, grayish fur, with white on their chests, inner arms, and ears. They have large furry ears and leathery noses. The koala has large, sharp claws to assist with climing tree trunks. The koala is one of the few mammals that have fingerprints. Koalas do not live in big groups, they rather prefer to be alone. How can people reduce the amount of waste?

Trash is not the thing one's body should digest. Trash on the ground it is the worst problem which needs solving. Fortunately, there are many campaigns today, which tidy the9ikmmj ground from the waste. To avoid catastrophes, we really should reduce the amounts of waste. It can be done with recycling and composting. There are many collecting centres, that buy old dangerous devices, because they consist dangerous substances. But all starts from homes. Families should sort their trash. Usually everything goes into a trashbin. Actually it is cheaper to sort, so people should really think about it. Reducing the waste is still not that easy. But a lot can be done to make our planet alive again. Nature need humans, who will make the best solutions to hold our land. This should be an idea for every people, who really want to do something really big, something what matters.

Paper-based media will soon be replaced by online media

Paper-based media will soon be replaced by online media The technology is always improving and that is why it is believed that in the future internet will be the alternative to today’s newspapers and magazines. I agree with this statement. First of all because this development would save customer’s money and I think we shouldn’t have to pay for our daily news. People who don’t want to pay for the newspaper are already checking the most important news online which are usually free. Another reason for this progress is that online newspapers have been made so easy to access. There were times when people could only get their newspapers by mail or from store, but now they just have to find Wi-Fi and use their gadget to be able to catch up with the latest news. In addition, even the most frequently published papers are only distributed once per day. This simply means that papers can’t compete with the Internet, because there we can see changes almost every hour.

What should we do to live longer?

Fresh and friendly environment belongs there too. In addition, the most important is healthy food. You should not eat junk food. You need to get all the necessary vitamins. It is necessary to eat local food, because it has no preservatives. In fact, there are many young people, who are smoking. Smoking is very unhealthy for everyone. Smoking damages our health. Acctually non-smokers life is much longer, than people who smoke, because smokers can get lung cancer, which usually means death. For example, of course many people are drinking a lot too. By my side, I think drinking is not so bad, but you need to border mind. Young people consume too much alcohol what is very bad to their healt. However, very important thing is doing sports. Sport helps to be in the form. Thanks to sport activities we can move and this is very important to your body. You should be an active. Finally, we need to rest a lot and sleep. If their family had the means, they normally received a basic education in the arts, etiquette, manners and aspects of running a household. Women did not have any opportunity to say a word in any kind of business. They were only in a subordinate position. As the saying goes- behind every great man there is a great woman. I think that it was pretty fair that women were only at home in action with children at this

Are we too dependent on computers?

paperwork is done with a computer. Work with computer is comfortable and much easier. People are dedicated to computers. They can make researches, find information and cannot even imagine their everyday life without computers. Secondly, in society 15-25-year-old youngsters use computers the most. Mostly they use these for messaging, playing games, commenting pictures and listening to music and watching films. It is common to talk with friends in messenger after the school and usually it takes a lot of time. This may lead to computer addiction. Some children even do not want to do their homework, because they become lazy. Luckily not all people are so dependent on computers. It stands on person´s personality. It is important to watch after our youngsters, that they would have enough temper to use computer opportunities moderately. In conclusion, I would like to say that computers and Internet are very useful and important

Thanksgiving

Topic No. 4 Thanksgiving In the United States, the fourth Thursday in November is called Thanksgiving Day. On this day Americans give thanks for the blessings they have enjoyed during the year. Thanksgiving is usually a family day, celebrated with big dinners. The first American Thanksgiving was held in Plymouth. The Puritans from England came to America because they were unappreciated. They were called the Pilgrims. They came to America on a ship called Mayflower. September was the worst season of the year for sea crossing. After 65 days they landed at Cape Cod. The Pilgrims suffered a great deal during their first winter, because they were poorly equipped and poorly trained. One spring morning an Indian came and introduced him in a friendly way. The Indian chief offered assistance to the pilgrims and the Indians thought the Pilgrims how to hunt, fish, and grow food. ...

Article: Estonians

Rarely tend they to kiss or hug each other unless their beloved ones. So if they nevertheless do it then there's a great chance you're dealing with some non- Estonians. But there's no reason for worrying- if a person is from a region where that kind of over-loving-behaviour is common and he or she practices it anyway then a bathetic Estonian will just bear it and play along. In case of visiting like in many other European countries in Estonia it's also polite to bring some presents with you, usually a box of chocolate or something like that will do the trick. To greet "Tere!" is the word you won't get wrong, but if you use something else equivalent in English for example they'll understand. If not, you have potentially bumped into a non- Estonian. Despite that there's nothing extraordinary in eating habits or social life in Estonia fork and knife are the usual, sticks in Chinese restaurant people love to party and spend time with their friends and family

Marriage - an outdated tradition

relationships. It think that avoiding serious commitments is like a self-protection. In this sense break-up would be easier to manage with than divorce. We need to be very certain about our partner and feel secure before getting married. What is more, a lot of people nowadays have been married before. They already have experiences in this area. For some reason they have lost their partner in life and it is usually not prior for them to get married once again. It is fortunate if they ever find another person to be with and I suppose then they´d rather just enjoy living and being with the beloved one. In conclusion, the importance of marriage has significantly changed over time. I don´ t think people find it inessential nowadays but I believe that we are more careful in making as serious commitments as marriages. Nobody wants to get hurt and that is why we need to be

Gays as Parents

and want to get children, but as we all know, children cannot be born without mother and father and a gay couple has to adopt to get a child. Some think that a child cannot have mentally healthy childhood if growing up with gay parents. I think that children who are old enough, should decide themselves if they want gay parents or not. I do not see a problem if a thirteen year old kid decides that he preferres gay parents to no parents. But the poblem is that younger children or even babies are usually adopted. They cannot decide so important thing. And here is the problem, to let gays adopt babies or not? I do not have a clear opinion in gay parents. I would like to believe that if a same sex couple has proven that they can raise a kid then they keep their word. I cannot say that it is perfectly fine to grow up with gay parents, because we really do not know if it has a bad effect on children. Of course it is better to live with loving parents even if they are gays. But at the

Being too visible on the internet is dangerous

The Internet plays an important role in modern people's lives. Most of us use the Internet on a daily basis. It is mostly seen as a way of entertainment, but there are some risks and dangers involved. Already as children people often register themselves in online communities where they can connect with others, upload pictures of themselves and share information about their actions. Unfortunately, places like these are often filled with pedophiles, who usually add their victims through various messengers and start chatting. They show themselves through a web-camera and such, and in return they ask for some pictures of the victim. Sometimes the youngsters are too gullible and they do as told. The consequences might be very extreme. There have been cases where the victims find photos of themselves naked on the Internet. The worst part is that sometimes they can't handle the pressure and commit suicide.

Tourism a threat to the environment?

For example of positive effect would be that, people who organize hikes take care of pathways and camping places. If they had not built the camp sites for tourists there would be overgrown forest. So may say that thanks to the good and decents businesses are our surroundings clean and pleasant to everyone who like to spend some time and relax in wild. Tourism has a negative impact to environment if a large number of events are organized in a inappropriate sites. Usually people throw garbage and empty packages down when they stay overnight or just party. In addition too many people on one land may damage the plants under their feet. Besides nature decorative effects it also changes the economic situation of this place. Develop new jobs and increasing the purchasing power and scale of living. When increase peoples purchasing power increases as well as local municipal tax resulting from revenues. Wich leads to that parish can spend more money to social works.
