Happiness

If the humanity would take some time and think about the idiotic things they whine about they would realize that they are way too overrating and that life is too short for it. Money is definitely one of the most vital sources of happiness. Also in this subject the lack of it which brings the unhappiness all over the world. We cannot deny the importance of it but we must value what we have and not cry over the things we do not. Some of us are rich and wealthy, some of us are not. Usually it is so that people who cannot afford everything and who have suffered more in life are living in reality with both feet on the ground. I admire them due to the fact that sometimes I get 10 feet off the ground and I do not want to come down. But I am bothered by those who can only complain, because then they miss the bright side of life. They will not even notice when something great is happening in their life.

In some of the southern regions, people speak Seto and Võro dialects, which are sometimes considered to be separate languages altogether. Dialects spoken in northern Estonia are more influenced by Swedish and Finnish, especially along the coast and on the islands. One of the oldest traditions in Estonia is The Song Festival. Pet therapy

uncommunicative has recently been given a new name: pet therapy. It has given difficult children, lonely old people and even anti-social prisoners a completely new outlook on life  Even though pet therapy is only now being widely used, it is not a new idea. In the eighteenth century an English doctor, William Tuke, filled the grounds of a hospital for mentally disturbed people with chickens, rabbits and goats. At a time when people were usually punished for strange behavior rather than helped, this was a radical new approach to treating the mentally disturbed. Tuke's idea was that patients could learn self-control by caring for creatures weaker than themselves.  This is an idea which has persisted. In New York, horses, cows, cats and dogs were recruited to heal soldiers who had been wounded during World War II. These animals comforted the traumatized and helped the battle-scarred to avoid becoming obsessed

same time, there are not enough doctors in Estonia. The second bad thing for new member countries in this rule is free movement of goods. One way, it is very good that people can buy goods with better prices, because there would be no duties. In the other hand, it's bad for local companies, who must compete with whole Europe and at the same time they have to adopt the new rules (ecological, health protection at the working places etc) what usually need big investments (cleaning equipment, infrastructure).

the public opinion and, furthermore, it has the power to influence the formation of an individual’s identity. In such a situation, television violence has a particularly significant and dangerous impact on the viewers, especially youth, whose identity, moral values and beliefs are in the process of formation. Young people often perceive celebrities they see on TV and imaginary characters they see in movies as models for their own behavior. Children usually want to be soldiers or gangsters. As a result, they attempt to follow their lead, which often leads to the development of negative models of behavior. Also, some people think that fighting scenes, explosions, shooting scenes and other violent elements of movies are so awesome and they also want to spice up their lives and do something “cool”. The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in a child’s behavior or

Asher is turning twelve in the beginning of the book, and is thirteen at the end of the book. Asher is a bit childish, fooling around a lot and does not have precision of language,as he usually mixes up words and doesn't get phrases correct, like when he was a three, and mixed up snack with the word "smack", recieving many blows of the "discipline wand" on his hand. This resulted in a silent Asher for a while, but after a whle he learned and began to talk with greater precision. Asher is usually late for school, and uses multiple excuses to explain this. 12. What is Lily's ,,comfort object"? What will happen to it when Lily turns to Eight? Why does the author say it's an imaginary creature? Comfort objects are stuffed animals that are given to children when they are born to help them fall asleep. Lily's comfort object in The Giver is an elephant. These comfort objects were usually soft, stuffed and imaginary animals.

Some are so different that they do not even remotely resemble the original festival despite sharing the same name and date. There are also various local festivals (e.g. Tobata Gion) that are mostly unknown outside a given prefecture. It is commonly said that you will always find a festival somewhere in Japan. Matsuri is the Japanese word for a festival or holiday. In Japan, festivals are usually sponsored by a local shrine or temple, though they can be secular. There is no specific matsuri days for all of Japan; dates vary from area to area, and even within a specific area, but festival days do tend to cluster around traditional holidays such as Setsubun or Obon. Almost every locale has at least one matsuri in late summer/early autumn, usually related to the rice harvest. Notable matsuri often feature processions which may include elaborate floats. Ladies, don't think building muscles means you have to look like a body builder. You can maintain a healthy amount of muscle mass. Reduce Stress and Improve Moods: We now know exercise helps our physical health. What about our mental health? Anyone who exercises would tell you that it definitely reduces stress. Exercise is known to cause the release of a hormone that makes you feel more relaxed, and even increases your self esteem. Because of this hormone, people who exercise are usually in a better mood, have a higher energy level, and sleep better. Exercise usually helps people not only fall asleep, but helps to deepen sleep as well so we feel well rested during the day. However, exercising right before bed can actually be counter-productive because you'll have too much energy to sleep well. So give yourself enough down time between exercise and bed. Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

Brian de Palma is well known director, who is focused on noir area through his career (he was once considered as a Hitchcock imitator) ``The Black Dahlia" can be classified as Film Noir. The genre is called Film Noir due to the `serie noir` books, which were publised in France (bethween 1940s and 1950s). These books were translations of American novels by authors like Dashiel Hammet, Raimond Chandler and James M. Cain. The novels usually talked about a strong, violent hero (anti-hero?) who moves through a corrupt dangerous world. ``The Black Dahlia`` is based on a novel by James Ellroy and not on a true Black Dahlia (murder) case. The theme of murder/crime/violence is one of the most important themes in Film Noir. In Film Noir morality is less clear (than in Western, for example, where there are simply to sides: good vs evil). There exists a feeling of paranoia about society, as we can clearly see in this film

matter if the story takes place today or many years ago- it can be same effective. Even it does not matter where the story takes place the story could be same effective in Tallinn, Berlin or Madrid. Usually the stories took place in lonely and depressing places. For Example: hotel which was almost empty and there was a rainy weather, the railway station, the train. The main characters in Hemingway's stories are couples a strict man and woman who are younger and who depends on her husband. Usually they do not have names. They are called like American woman, American man, American girl and so on. I think Ernest Hemingway was talented writer, although it was quite difficult to take the meanings of the stories not everyone can work out such a brilliant titles and everyone can not say so much with so little words. At first I did not like the Hemingway's stories because I did not understand them, but later when somebody has explained the messages to me, I had another opinion.

Henry Moore

He became well-known through his large-scale abstract cast bronze and carved marble sculptures, and was instrumental in introducing a particular form of modernism to the United Kingdom. His ability in later life to fulfill large-scale commissions made him exceptionally wealthy. Yet he lived frugally and most of the money he earned went towards supporting the Henry Moore Foundation, which continues to support education and promotion of the arts. His forms are usually abstractions of the human figure, typically depicting mother-and-child or lying figures. Reclining line was even considered as his signature. Moore's works are usually suggestive of the female body, apart from a phase in the 1950s when he sculpted family groups. His forms are generally pierced or contain hollow spaces. Many translators liken the wavy form of his lying figures to the landscape and hills of his birthplace, Yorkshire.

Tolerance and Diversity

Tolerance and Diversity Nowadays people are cautious and like to be independent to choose who they want to be acquainted with. The origin of a person is usually top priority. However, some people do not care where their friends are from and what the colour of their skin is. "Tolerance" is a noun with profound meaning. It has been built on an individual opinion, on the influence of friends and how the society affects people. Human nature is one-sided, because they believe in exact stereotypes of people and try to follow them. Many characteristics are also immediately being added to the person's characteristics according to its origin

Different tribes use different materials, weaving techniques, basket shapes, and characteristic patterns. Sandpainting Traditional sandpainting, considered a sacred art, is important aspect of Navajo art and culture. Sandpainting consists of images and patterns created with colored sand. These usually depict the deities of the Navajo but also plant and animal symbols. There are two very distinct and very different forms of Navajo Sand Paintings. First is the traditional "sacred" sand paintings, performed by a Medicine Man, as part of a healing ceremony. The second form of Navajo sand paintings is the one often seen today. The Navajo sand paintings seen today in museums, shops and galleries all contain purposeful errors, as the real sand paintings are considered sacred.

In British English, the fender is called the wing (this usually only refers to the panels over the front wheel arches, in modern cars, since the rear 'fenders' are more an integral part of the car's body shape). The equivalent component of a bicycle or motorcycle, or the "cycle wing" style of wing fitted to vintage cars which is not integral with the bodywork, is called a mudguard in Britain, as it guards other road users - and in the case of a bicycle or motorcycle, the rider as well - from mud, and spray, thrown up by the wheels.

It is not very cold in winter and never very hot in summer. So, the British ports are ice-free and its rivers are not frozen throughout the year. The weather on the British Isles has a bad reputation. It is very changeable and fickle. The British say that there is a climate in other countries, but we have just weather. If you don't like the weather in England, just wait a few minutes. It rains very often in all seasons in Great Britain. Autumn and winter are the wettest. The sky is usually grey and cold winds blow. On the average, Britain has more than 200 rainy days a year. The English say that they have 3 variants of weather: when it rains in the morning, when it rains in the afternoon, and when it rains all day long. Sometimes it rains so heavily, that they say «It's raining cats and dogs». Britain is known all over the world for its fogs. THE HISTORY OF JOURNALISM

Professional and ethical standards In the UK, all newspapers are bound by the Code of Practice of the Press Complaints Commission. This includes points like respecting people's privacy and ensuring accuracy. However, the Media Standards Trust has criticised the PCC, claiming it needs to be radically changed to secure public trust of newspapers. This is in stark contrast to the media climate prior to the 20th Century, where the media market was dominated by smaller newspapers and pamphleteers who usually had an overt and often radical agenda, with no presumption of balance or objectivity. Little note: Publishers, owners and other corporate executives, especially advertising sales executives, can try to use their powers over journalists to influence how news is reported and published. Journalists usually rely on top management to create and maintain a "firewall" between the news and other departments in a news organization to prevent undue influence on the news department. English Phonetics and Phonology. Mid-term2

The second area of difficulty can be called the problem of assignment. There may be found many cases where it is difficult to assign a particular speech sound to a particular phoneme. We use the term neutralisation for cases where contrasts between phonemes which exist in other places in the language disappear in particular contexts. A clearer case of neutralisation can be found in the case of plosives following s in syllable-initial position. Words like 'spill', 'still', 'skill' are usually represented with the phonemes p, t, k following the s. But, as many writers have pointed out, it would be quite reasonable to transcribe them with b, d, g instead, because b, d, g are unaspirated while p, t, k in syllable- initial position are usually aspirated; but in sp, st, sk we find an unaspirated plosive. Although we dont transcribe as such, it is important to remember that the contrasts between p and b, between t and d and between k and g are neutralised in this context

Exposing the Human Condition in Antigone

out." Antigone should have realized, as she stated, the laws they, the gods, have made for men are well marked out, and if she had allowed the gods to correct matters she would not have needed to confront the king. Her unfaithfulness toward the gods was very non-heroic. In modern society, we today act in the same manner as Antigone did toward her family. Our loyalties toward family members tend to be strong, but even so, we may take our anger out on the people we love. In all heroic tales we usually can see ourselves in the situations of the heroic and non-heroic aspects of characters and relate to them wholeheartedly. It seems that the writers of old had a good grasp of the human condition, and it seems that their main goal was to make us realize who we really are.

Competitions started with "flying as long as possible" and spot landings. With increasing performance cross-country flying replaced them. Usually two to four waypoints have to be passed with a landing at a goal. Nowadays every two years there is a world championship. Reported speech kokkuvõte ja harjutused

Reported Speech (in other words Indirect Speech) If we report what another person has said, we usually do not use the speaker's exact words (direct speech), but reported (indirect) speech. Therefore, you need to learn how to transform direct speech into reported speech. We use reported speech when we are saying what other people say, think or believe. - Example: If this verb is in the present tense (says), it's easy. We just put 'she says' and then the sentence. When we are reporting things in the present, future or present perfect we don't change the tense. : direct speech: "I like ice cream"

Epic (ingl. k eepos)

and events significant to a culture or nation. Nonetheless, epics have been written down at least since the works of Virgil, Dante Alighieri, and John Milton. Many probably would not have survived if not written down. The first epics are known as primary, or original, epics. One such epic is the Old English story Beowulf. Epic Conventions, or characteristics common to both types include: 1. The hero is a figure of great national or even cosmic importance, usually the ideal man of his culture. He often has superhuman or divine traits. He has an imposing physical stature and is greater in all ways than the common man. 2. The setting is vast in scope. It covers great geographical distances, perhaps even visiting the underworld, other wortlds, other times. 3. The action consists of deeds of valor or superhuman courage (especially in battle). 4

Anglo - Saxon

England around the 7th and 8th centuries. Christianity was introduced into Northumbria and Mercia by monks from Ireland, but the Synod of Whitby settled the choice for Roman Christianity. As the new clerics became the chroniclers, the old religion was partially lost before it was recorded. Despite these prohibitions, numerous elements of the pre-Christian culture of the Anglo-Saxon people survived the Christianisation process. Dress materials Anglo-Saxon clothing usually utilized only three types of fabric. Wool was a coarse material which was used for most garments. Lower class people, such as slaves and poorer peasants could only use wool for their garments, even garments worn against the skin. Linen, harvested from the flax plant, was a finer material which was used for garments. Silk was an extremely expensive material, and it was used only by the very rich, and then only for trim and decoration. Men`s fashion
