If I were a boy

Dear Teacher, Thank you for your last letter. It was very interesting to read it, because I have never thought to that before and it made me to think that what would it be like, if for one day I were a man. I think that almost every girl have thought sometimes that boys are stupid and they doesn't understand girls. So if I were a boy for one day, I would give my best to be the perfect boy and would try to avoid the mistakes that I think mostly the boys do when they hurt a girl. But definately that day would help me see the world as the way boys see it. And I think that day would help me a lot in my following life because probably I would understand the life better beacause I could see it from different corners. If I could experience one day as a boy I think without doubt it would change many things and viewpoints of my life. Definitely I would like to have a day like this. And also I would like to know how and why did you start thinking...

A film review

with parents, pedagogues apathy, punishment and retribution. For me, the film was really galvanic and thought-provoking. In real Estonia it is not that cruel as it is in film, but it may be possible in somewhere American schools. I think the film is too uncharitable and is not educative for everybody. It is possible that some teenagers follow that lead. ,,Class" is a documentary drama with an obvious message - "Violence gives birth to violence" as one teacher has said. Everyone run out of patience eventually. I recommend that film for high school students, teachers and also for parents.

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against

Electronic devices in the classroom: For and against This is a very difficult question if the electronic devices are good or bad things in the classroom. When I made a list of the pluses and minuses I found that the electronic devices are a very bad idea. The advantages are that children can easily find information and lessons are more interesting. Teachers can show different pictures, movies and other such things. If students do not know the answer they can easily search for it from the internet. Most of the programs are in English and I think thanks to that students vocabulary expands considerably. The disadvantages are that electronic devices ruin children eyes and they are 24/7 behind the computer or social media. The electronic devices take a lot of money because the school and children need to buy them. The teachers have to be always ready to do something else because the network can always go down or the electro...

Letter of application

to start a new chapter in my life. Starting from my sophomore year, I took all AP classes and obtained four A levels my senior year in Spanish, History, Anatomy and Theology. I was elected to our school’s Associated Student Body where I had the responsibility of caring for our school’s financial activities as the treasurer. I also received Honors and a Seal of Biliteracy. History has had always a big part of my life. I knew I wanted to be a history teacher at the age of 13 when I was in junior high in Yorba Linda. Since then, I have read tons of history-based books and mostly focused on the Postclassical era. Last semester I went to Cambodia and filmed a documentary about Angkor Wat. This work was extremely enjoyable and I feel the urge to do something amazing like this again. I have enclosed my CV with the details of my application. I am looking forward to your response in the near future. Yours sincerely, student M. Davis

Why do I need to speak English in English class?

Why do I need to speak English in the English class? I am going to write why I need to use English in English class. Using English in theEnglish class is important, because it is the best practise for English pronunciation and the more I use English the more I will command the language. I must express strong regret that I have not been using English in English classes very often and because of that I have many cacoepies and I am not very good at speaking English and that is why I should speak English during the English classes much more. Using English frequently gives me better understanding of the language, I will become more fluent in it and my general intelligence improves remarkably. Human beings are unique species because of their ability to learn, but in order to use this ability's full capacity, I must study every day. As to languages, constant improving is even more important becaus...

One reason why is good live in Estonia

Good morning my dear classmates and teacher. I'm here to talk about one reason why is good live in Estonia. Estonia is a state in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. Estonia is a very beautiful country because of its versatility. I can read a lot of reasons for living here. We have a very beautiful nature, which will take many speechless. We have also a lack of mineral resources, which is very important to us. These reasons may be very much to read. Each person has their own reason why he likes to live in Estonia. For me personally the most important thing is our language. Estonian language have very many rules that make it very difficult to learn for some people. If leave those rules aside, is the Estonian language in terms of its sound very nice, that even many foreigners are admired that and are happy to listen it. Here I would like to ask, is the Estonian important for you? Rise your hand for whom it's important. Thank you, it...

Automaatika referaat (eng)

and education. In 1973, the late Ellis Page and colleagues at the University of Connecticut programmed the first successful automated essay scoring engine, "Project Essay Grade (PEG)" (1973). The technology was foretold some six years earlier in a landmark Phi Delta Kappan article entitled, "The Imminence of Grading Essays by Computer" (Page, 1966). At the time the article was provocative and a bit outrageous, though in hindsight, it can only be deemed prophetic. As a former high school English teacher , Page was convinced that students would benefit greatly by having access to technology that would provide quick feedback on their writing. He also realized that the greatest hindrance to having secondary students write more was the requirement that, ultimately, a teacher had to review stacks of papers. While PEG produced impressive results, the technology of the time was too primitive to make it a practical application. Text had to be typed on IBM

Reported speech reeglid

When we use reported speech, we are usually talking about the past (because obviously the person who spoke originally spoke in the past). The verbs therefore usually have to be in the past too. For example: "I'm going to the cinema". He said he was going to the cinema. Basic tense chart The tenses generally move backwards in this way (the tense on the left changes to the tense on the right): present simple past simple I'm a teacher. James Watt kokkuvõte

His father was a mathematical instrument maker. James was a delicate boy and often suffered from severe headaches. That is why he didn't go to school when the other children did, so his parents had to teach him. He liked mathematics and was fond of making things, so his father gave him some tools. James liked to take his toys to pieces and build new things to his own design. At the age of eighteen he decided to become a professional instrument maker. It was very hard to find a teacher. But finally he found an instrument maker in London who took him on as an apprentice. After a year he returned to Scotland and became a mathematical instrument maker. He also made musical instruments. He was asked to repair a small steam engine which was very primitive and used too much coal and a lot of steam was wasted. He found out that it was built on the wrong principle. It took him 2 years to put his theory into practice. He started making the new engine with a man called Baulton

Reasons of and solutions to truancy

not care about going there. School is just a chore for them and they do not see the point in it. If school were made a little more interesting, then maybe there would be a little less truancy. Some truant students are even addicted to the joys of being truant. Some of them are just too tired to go to school or have something better to do. In addition many students also miss class because they have not done their homework and do not want to get yelled at. Futhermore, some of them do not like the teacher or the subject is too difficult for them. I think that a good way to reduce truancy is not to leave any homework and to make the tests in any time and nobody would be upset about it(students choose when they take the tests). In my opinion there is acdually no solution to get rid of truancy. There are ways to reduce it but it probably also slow slow down the learning problem. School system should not be so strict. Students should decide themselves when to come to class

Summer holidays are too long

If summer holidays were shorter, they wouldn't have time to do all this. School is hard work. Learning new things all day, and after school there is homework to do. There is quite little time left for children to keen on their hobbies. Men do all the same things all day and some women stay home and drink coffee, while their kids are in school. Children, unlike adults, don't get paid. Children can be quite difficult to handle. There is the whole class of boys and girl and only one teacher. It is tiring for teachers too. Most children enjoy holidays and teachers need to enjoy them even more to get back to school fresh and rested. Summer holidays need to be long, so everyone could rest and spend time with their kids. If holidays are long enough, then finally children get bored of sitting at home and would want to go back to school. This should be everyone's priority, that children would like to go back to school voluntarily. Karin Torim 12.T

Kunstnikuks saamine ja olemine

Mulle meeldivad Konrad Mäe maalid. Juba sellepärast meeldivad, et Konrad on Eestlane. Kuidas Konrad Mägi sai Eestis ja mujal maailmas kuulsaks kunstnikuks? Konrad Mägi sai elementaarset kunsti haridust Tartus, alustades joonistutest. Esimene kaasaegne Eesti looduse maal oli Saaremaa. Oma õpinguid jätkas ta Peterburis(1903-1905). Sügisel 1907 läks ta Pariisi, kus ta õppis vaba akadeemias. Alates 1908-1910 ta elas Norras . In 1912, Mägi returned to Tartu, where he worked as an art teacher.

I have carried out a survey among the students at Kose Gymnasium. My findings are presented below. Findings The first thing students thought was that our school is using and wasting paper. Theatchers do not use both sides of paper while printing. Secondly the students have noticed that the computers are not always turned off at end of the day. They take a lot of power and waste energy if they are turned on overnight. The tird thing I found out is that our school does not recycle and reuse enouhg which is also bad influence for the environment. Reccomendations Firstly, I would like to suggest to reduce paper. Stalini lapselaps

I knew about all this and I had the same attitude as any other normal person to it. But after Khrushchev's speech many people abandoned us. For them we were only Stalin's relatives. Nobody came to visit us. The headmistress of our school began to pick on my sister and me. We had to move to another school. Later, thank goodness, I met somebody who behaved differently towards me. I was studying drama with Oleg Efremov but I wanted to be a director. Oleg Efremov recommended me to a wonderful teacher, Maria Osipovna Knebel'. She became my mentor, my friend, a second mother. Maria Osipovna later told me what she had thought at our first meeting. She said: "I saw before me the descendant of a terrible person, the grandson of a person who had caused me great pain - my brother was a victim of the repression. His fate was in my hands. Should I take revenge on him? But what was he guilty of? He seemed so weak and defenceless. And I wanted to protect him." That little woman had a big heart.

Are mistakes necessary for discovery and progress?

is often an efficient way of finding out something new which can help people to make progress on whatever that is worked on. It is often the mistake that tell us what is wrong or what needs to be corrected. Through correcting any mistakes that are made and learning from those errors, deffinitely help to make progress. Homework that teachers give to students are a good example, like submitting something to your teacher and getting it back later with corrections. By carefully analyzing the mistakes made in the work, many important discoveries which might be ignored before would be noticed that can later help to progress in something. What can also be brought up as a good example is analyzing errors after losing, so later, after correcting the mistakes, a win would be more likely to come. But progress and new discoveries can sometimes be achieved also without any mistakes made

Kevade

Minu ema lemmik eesti film ,,Kevade'' on valminud Oskar Lutsu samanimelise jutustuse alusel, mille tegevus toimub möödunud sajandi lõpuaastate Eesti külas. See on lugu ühe kihelkonnakooli laste eluolust õppeaasta kestel sügisest kevadeni. If I were the Minister of Education in Estonia

printed. Also I would change most of the subjects for optional, that students can choose the best subjects for them. I think that the absences wouldn't be so punishable by the school, because I think it's your own choice if you go to school or not, just like in universities. There should be more e-learning lessons, because when I can't or do not want to go to school today then I can do the lessons at home on my own and then submit them to the teacher. If I were the minister of education, then I would do all that what makes kids love school. All teachers should love children and also love working with them. Teachers should believe in children's abilities. At least in elementary schools falling out should be impossible. I would do anything it takes for all kids to get the best education they need. I would like if children could say that school is their second home.

KEVADE

Minu ema lemmik eesti film ,,Kevade'' on valminud Oskar Lutsu samanimelise jutustuse alusel, mille tegevus toimub möödunud sajandi lõpuaastate Eesti külas. See on lugu ühe kihelkonnakooli laste eluolust õppeaasta kestel sügisest kevadeni. My mother's favorite Estonian film, Spring '' has been produced on the basis wit...

Letter to aunt Anette

01/03/04 Dear aunt Anette, Thank you for your letter. I hope you and uncle Joe are well and that you'll find a good place for living. At school is a very terrible time at the moment. I have to spend all my time to studing, because the exams are coming, as you know. I'm not very good at maths so I'm thinking about taking a private teacher. It's quite expensive, but I have to pass the exams, so It's OK. Thanks for the invitation to visit you at London. I've never been there but I'm sure It's great. I would love to see you after these years. I think you have not change at all. I'm glad that I can see uncle Joe for last! You have written so much about him. Did he bought a new car yet? If It's okay to you I'll visit you and uncle Joe in the middle of summer. It will be a very busy summer to me

Resources for a Beginner Tester

If some seem a bit too long, check out the "Very Short Blog Post" series. Maaret Pyhäjärvi http://visible-quality.blogspot.com.ee/ - she writes a lot about daily hands-on stuff, problem-solving, mob testing, you name it. Katrina Clokie http://katrinatester.blogspot.com.ee/ - she's a test coach in New Zealand, I recommend checking out her learning pathways James Bach http://www.satisfice.com/blog/ - James has contributed A LOT to the testing community and he's the creator and teacher of Rapid Software Testing course (as is Michael Bolton) Erik Brickarp http://erik.brickarp.se/ - he's worked as a teacher for software testers, so he's written quite a lot about the education program he taught. The Integration of subjects

yet when groups of students delve into projects that demand critical thinking they also are developing their social skills and cooperation with other people. Everyone knows that when studying is fun the time passes more quickly and the brain records more information which is also easier to access. Lastly, the idea of a learning experience like this looks good on paper but problems can occur. There are just too many variables - the teacher might not be prepared to deal with this hands-on type of work. This system could only work if the subjects synchronize perfectly. For example if there is a stumble in math the whole integrated course might suffer. To conclude, I believe the idea of integrating subjects is risky and could even be bad for the education system on an international level because of non-compatible courses. I think that these ideas should be for specialized schools only.

Digital Nation

We can’t imagine that we haven’t our smartphone with us. We are always connected. Every day we sit on computers, we are chatting on facebook or whatsapp, we are posting pictures on facebook, twitter and instagram. We have always connection with the digital world. In this movie is clearly set out that children in schools want to deal with different things. They want to be connected with their friend, but at the same time they have to listen what teacher is telling in front of the class. The results in education has fallen and that’s because students aren’t well prepared. Technology is updating very quickly and all we can do is learn how to use it. I think that if it came in our lives, then it’s important too. We can argue about different things that it has taken from us, for example we aren’t sending letters anymore, maybe we don’t show up

Estonian teen

sweats. What do you argue with your parent about most? I don’t argue with my parents lot. When I argue then mostly about how much do I have to study and why I don’t take school a much more serious. I really don’t have any reasons to argue with my parents because I like following rules. How is school life for you? I like school because then I can talk to my friends. School and studying isn’t very hard but sometimes it’s abnormal how much teacher give you a homework. The school atmosphere is very good in our glass but our glass doesn’t speak a lot to our parallel glass because they really hate us. What are the biggest pressures for teens in your city? Võru doesn’t have many pressures but maybe the biggest problem is that in Võru there is no place to be with your friends. In our city luckily is no problem with criminality. Is there a difference in Estonia between the north and the south?
