Litter in our country

Kiev, Kharkov, Donetsk and others. People litter on the banks of the rivers, in parks, in the streets. A lack of bins is not a major factor in littering. Sometimes you can see the bin in the street, and a pile of litter half a meter away from it. The main reason of littering is behaviour. The more litter people see on the street the more inclined to litter. For example, cinema complexes, football ground and theatres are cleaned up but such areas as parks and streets are neglected. But people don't think that litter can be dangerous. It can especially be dangerous when it involves items such as broken glass, needles and syringes. Litter can get into the drainage system and block it. Litter scattered all over the city. Makes it look ugly. And it usually costs a lot of money to clean up the city every year. But the biggest problem is municipal dumps, because they cause environmental pollution. Most of the municipal dumps are filled

Art week

tradition that has been held for the last 30 years. Art Week is always organized by 11c class students who study Humanities and Social Sciences. Organizing class has to introduce the culture of the country they have picked to other students in school. The Art Week was originally initiated by Tiina Meeri, who is still working in our school and still organizes the week. At the beginning there were no countries, just certain time periods of history. The Art Week has some traditional events, such as the play "Moving Pictures" which tells the story of the theme country. At the opening ceremony, people from embassy come to congratulate and thank the students for their efforts of making such a big event happen. There´s also Art Week´s café where traditional food is served. Traditionally Art Week ends with costume party where organizing class performs with their own play. Also they pass on the torch to next organizing class by giving them the Art Weeks flag.

Formal letter - about suicideterrorism lecture

Dear Mrs. Antia Luik January 23th We had a lecture on suicideterrorism and motives for suicide. It was a very instructive lecture, because I got a lot of new information about terrorism. Such information, which I did not yet know or have heard. I can use that information in our bibliographical and if lucky, the English language examination. Such lectures could be more, because terrorism is a situation which can be found in almost every country. Still the subject of terrorism, I would like to know more. I would like to know more precisely how to deal with situations if someone wants to commit suicide and kill others or have any advice on how to stay calm and help others. Or, how could help, who wants to organize a suicide. Your sincerely Karel Varik

an island shortly after the end of the last Ice Age, about 8,000 years ago. Many different habitat types are found in Ireland, including farmland, open woodland, temperate broadleaf and mixed forests, conifer plantations, peat bogs, and various coastal habitats. Forest covers about 10% of the country. Only 26 land mammal species are native to Ireland, because it was isolated from Europe by rising sea levels after the Ice Age. Some species, such as the red fox, hedgehog, and badger are very common, whereas others, like the Irish hare, red deer and pine marten are less so. Aquatic wildlife such as species of turtle, shark, whale, dolphin, and others are common off the coast. About 400 species of birds have been recorded in Ireland. Many of these are migratory, including the swallow. Most of Ireland's bird species come from Iceland, Greenland, Africa among other territories. There are no snakes

Fast food

Fifth level Why is it so popular? You can buy fast food just about anywhere that sells food and snacks. Vending machines, drive- thru restaurants, and 24 hour convenience stores are probably the most common places to find fast food. It's so popular because for under $5.00 you can usually get a filling meal. However, fast food is inexpensive because it is usually made with cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats, instead of nutritious foods such as lean meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables. Is fast food bad? There is no such thing as a "bad" food. All foods can fit into a healthy meal plan. It's true that fast food is usually high in fat, calories, cholesterol and sodium, but eating fast food every once in a while is not going to cause you problems. If you eat too much fast food over a long period of time, though, it can lead

Enviromental problems

Environmental Problems and Sustainability The environment is our physical surroundings. This includes both human (man- made), social and physical (natural) features. Natural features include soil, the atmosphere, vegetation and wildlife. Human features include things such as culture, language and political systems. Geographers are concerned about human action in the environment. Human interference with the environment causes problems such as soil erosion, global warming and acid. You may ask how we as individuals can have an impact on the environment. Our actions can help to increase the problems highlighted above. For example turning off lights that are not being used helps to reduce global warming. Until recently, concern about the environment revolved almost exclusively around local and national problems. Over the past two decades, however, scientists have

The criteria for any acceptable energy supply will continue to be cost, safety, and security of supply, as well as environmental considerations. 2. and economic conditions may affect the current definitions of crime and the form of the legal, law enforcement, and penal responses made by society. These structural realities remain fluid and often contentious. For example, as cultures change and the political environment shifts, behavior may be criminalised or decriminalised, which will directly affect the statistical crime rates, determine the allocation of resources for the enforcement of such laws, and influence the general public opinion. Similarly, changes in the way that crime data are collected and/or calculated may affect the public perceptions of the extent of any given "crime problem". All such adjustments to crime statistics, allied with the experience of people in their everyday lives, shape attitudes on the extent to which law should be used to enforce any particular social norm. There are many ways in which behaviour can be controlled without having to resort to the

Durability of concrete In this presentation I'm focusing on the durability of concrete. First I'll give a brief overview of concrete, we have to know what does it actually means and where is it used? (slide) Basically concrete is a construction material composed of cement, aggregate (generally gravel, limestone, or granite, plus a fine aggregate such as sand) also water, and chemical admixtures.(slide) Concrete is used to make pavements, architectural structures, foundations, roads, bridges, marine- and parking structures, brick/block walls and footings for gates, fences and so forth. Mainly it is used because of its high durability and availability, but also because it is cheaper than to use wood for example. Concrete is used more than any other man-made material in the world.(slide)

Scottish literature includes text written in English, Scottish Gaelic, Scots, French, and Latin. The poet and songwriter Robert Burns wrote in the Scots language, although much of his writing is also in English and in a "light" Scots dialect which is more accessible to a wider audience.Sport is an important element in Scottish culture, with the country hosting many of its own national sporting competitions, and enjoying independent representation at many international sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup, the Cricket World Cup and the Commonwealth Games (although not the Olympic Games). Law Scotland retains Scots Law, its own unique legal system, based on Roman law, which combines features of both civil law and common law. The terms of union with England specified the retention of separate systems. Children go in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?" The word "trick" refers to a "threat" to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given .Halloween costumes are traditionally modeled after supernatural figures such as monsters, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils.Because the holiday comes in the wake of the annual apple harvest, candy apples, caramel or taffy apples are common Halloween treats made by rolling whole apples in a sticky sugar syrup,

because it is an entertainer or informant, but because of the grip it has on many people. It is called a "living room monster" or "one-eyed monster." It is established that the biggest viewers are pensioners and housewives. The latter watch TV while their husbands are at work. In total they spend five hours daily sitting before the "boxes." Children watch commercials, horror films or films of violence. TV prevents children from creating their abilities. They get accustomed to TV to such an extent that they watch it all the time. To force their children away from their favourite evening programmes to their homework has eventually become the main problem of the parents of different countries. Moreover, TV is damaging for health. It has bad effect on the eyes, particularly of children. The physicians proved that if children do not watch TV their eyesight improves. measured by companies working in the textile industry. Pilling measurement is traditionally performed using manual procedures involving visual control of fabric surface by human experts. Since the early nineties, great efforts in developing automatic and non-intrusive methods for pilling measurement have been made all around the world with the final aim of overcoming traditional, visual-based and subjective, procedures. Machine Vision proved to be among the best options to perform such defect assessment since it provided increasingly performing measurement equipment and tools, serving the purpose of automatic control. In particular, a relevant number of interesting works have been proposed so far, sharing the idea of helping (or even replacing) traditional measurement methods using image processing-based ones. The present work provides a rational and chronological review of the most relevant methods for pilling measurement proposed so far.

However, through the analysis of two such accounts on Romania, Dervla Murphy's Transylvania and Beyond (1992) and Eva Hoffman's (ample chapter on Romania in) Exit into History (1999) this paper aims to show that such translations, if undertaken, may turn into complex exercises of intercultural

as say learning to write but it is increasingly important in the modern world. Jobs in developed nations are becoming much more specialised and service based. You cannot (for example) just turn up at a computer software company and `learn the trade' like you could at a coal mine in years past. Skills needed today are more complex and depend on scientific and mathematical knowledge, and/or an ability to think about abstract concepts. Such understanding can only be taught in higher education institutions. The point of education is to allow opportunity. As opportunities change, so must our education systems. Also why do pay the university costs yourself is that you already have education free till the end of high school. So what do you want more from the Government? Government makes big spendings to education because they know that this is their country's future at stake. Even lunches till high school are free for everyone.

Natural resources - our treasure

These resources are also used in industry. We get natural resources from the environment. Many of them are essential for our survival while others are used for satisfying our wants. Renewable resources: Some natural resources can be reproduced within a few years or decades. These are called renewable resources. Solar radiation, wind and hydroelectricity, are perpetual resources that are in no danger of a lack of long-term availability. Some natural renewable resources such as geothermal power, fresh water, timber, and biomass must be carefully managed to avoid exceeding the worlds capability to displace them. Solar energy is the energy derived directly from the Sun. Along with nuclear energy, it is the most important source of energy on Earth. People usually use solar energy to produce electricity and heat. Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as electricity, using wind turbines

What makes a person successful?

comes my version. Success is a moment when a person achieves a goal that they has made for himself for a long time period. In my opinion, we have to stress the words ,,long time period." Why ? Because I do not think that somebody has made an enormous success, when the goal they had made was not actually a challenge. To make it more clear to You, we should not use extremely widespread Borat's expression ,,Great success!" so often. A succesful person takes down such goals as a wish to be a director, to get promoted and to marry a very nice looking lady. Achievements which some people see only in their dreams, the ones you can be proud of ! Surely it depends on every individual personally, what is important for them. In conclusion, a succesful person is a person who has managed to break very many targets and such ones that really count and make a difference!

Ice hockey is a most popular in areas that are sufficiently cold for natural reliable seasonal ice cover such as Canada, the northern United States, Scandinavia and Russia. History European immigrants brought various versions of hockey: like games to Canada, such as the Irish sport of hurling, the closely related Scottish sport of shinty, and versions of field hockey played in England. Where necessary, these seem to have been adapted for icy conditions; for example, a colonial Williamsburg newspaper records hockey being played in a snow storm in Virginia. Early paintings show "shinney", an early form of hockey with no standard rules, being played in Nova Scotia in Canada. NHL

Water purification is not a very one-sided process; the purification process contains many steps. The steps that need to be progressed depend on the kind of impurities that are found in the water. This can differ very much for different types of water. In which ways is polluted water treated? The Major Environmental Problems In Estonia

As Estonia belongs to developed countries, people have enough power purchased and they mindlessly buy things they do not even need. According to that there is overconsumption which also causes huge waste dumps. Lastly there is abuse of the natural resources in Estonia. While wasting paper, people do not think that it is made of both wood and water which should be saved. Therefore there is over-intensive logging and the area of woods is decreasing. To sum up there are no such environmental problems in Estonia such as widespread hunger and poverty whilst there are some smaller problems in comparison with the Third World countries. The environment in realtion to mobility/transport in Europe

Through some pollution comes from these natural sources, most pollution is the result of human activity. The biggest causes are the operation of fossil fuel- burning power plants and automobiles that combust fuel. Combined, these two sources are responsible for about 90% of all air pollution in the United States. All kind of pollutions can lead us to serious health problems. For example, air pollution is increasingly being cited as the main cause of lung conditions such as asthma - twice as many people suffer from asthma today compared to 20 years ago. Every year, 3.2m Europeans are diagnosed with cancer - the most common cause of death after heart disease. Most widespread are cancers of the lungs, breast and colon. Diseases such as bronchitis, lung cancer and heart diseases may all eventually appear in people exposed to air pollution. When the wind blows, then it carries the pollution with him. consolidate their power. In this example, the free riders avoid all of the personal risks of war while enjoying the benefit of tax dollars spent under the false popular perception of the urgent need for national defense. Government is indeed the primary mechanism by which societies address free rider problems. In addition to fiscal measures noted above, regulation is another form of collective action taken by governments to resolve free riders problems such as environmental degradation or excessive resource use. The free rider problem is also one justification for the existence of governments which provide public goods. Some ideologies, such as libertarian capitalism, are often rebuked, because in such a system all property in a society would be privately owned, away from any state involvement or regulation. Libertarians counter that potential free riders within their system could face social ostracism, which may deter those who accept services

THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIA ON BAD BODY IMAGE IN CHILDREN

sizes. Over the past 20 years, several articles have proposed a link between the thin female beauty ideal and the muscular male body ideal portrayed in the media with a range of psychological symptomatology including body dissatisfaction and eating disorders. Over time the cultural ideal for women's body size and shape has become considerably thinner and leaner and men's body size and shape has become stronger and more muscular. Websites such as Tumblr, Lookbook , Instagram and also Facebook feature photos that can be recognized as harmful towards any person with a mental disorder. However, they can also be recognized as causes for eating disorders and depression. Just to show how bad the situation is, I kindly ask you to do a litle test. Just pull out your cell phones or laptops. Access your Instagram App and go to the "Explore" page. Refresh the page. Now count the number of photos that refer to some type of body image

Jane Austen

Chapter 18 Chapter 39 Chapter 59 Chapter 19 Chapter 40 Chapter 60 Chapter 20 Chapter 41 Chapter 61 Chapter 21 Chapter 42 Chapter 1 It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighbourhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered the rightful property of some one or other of their daughters. "My dear Mr. Bennet," said his lady to him one day, "have you heard that Netherfield Park is let at last?" Mr. Bennet replied that he had not. "But it is," returned she; "for Mrs. Long has just been here, and she told me all about it." Mr. Bennet made no answer.

Sheep senses and social cognition

Sheep generally are held in low regard as far as cognition and social skills are concerned. However there is now interesting evidence from studies of their behaviour and brain function that they have highly sophisticated social and emotional recognition skills using faces, voices and smell. They are able to recognize and remember many diferent sheep and humans for several years or more and appear to have some capacity for forming mental images of the faces of absent individuals. The precence of such social cognition abilities in this species means that we must pay careful attention to welfare factors such as the composition and stability of their social environment as well as the nature of our own interactions with them. To many humans sheep are regarded as being as close to an automaton and amindless animal species as can be imagined and any serious consideration of their cognitive, social and general mental faculties deemed futile. I can give example about sheep memory

Such schools may be really named the schools of life because children studying there are forced to grow up earlier than others. Furthermore, present youngsters spend a great deal of their spare time sitting in Internet. They communicate, study and play games in simulated environment of the virtual world

Poverty in World

Poverty has also been described as the number one health problem for many poor nations as they do not have the resources to meet the growing needs. But poverty is not restricted just to developing countries. Industrialized nations are also seeing a sharp increase in poverty. While the current form of globalization is resulting in additional wealth, the disparities are sharp. Less people are turning out to be benefiting while an increasing number are left behind. Even in places such as Europe and USA, poor people still do not seem to get enough attention or resources to help alleviate their problems. Certain types of poverty in various European cities can be regarded as worse than in some other parts of the world which one would not normally think would compare with Europe, such as India.
