Resume (conception of studying and teaching in university)

Approaches to studying in higher education Research, carried out in Great Britain and Sweden in 1970 identified only three dominant approaches to study. ·A deep approach (understanding the meaning of materials and in my oppinion this approach includes additional studies, very serious way of learning) ·a surface approach (memorising the course materials, the most common approach) ·and the last one, a strategic approach (only grades make sense) But the same student can adopt different approaches, It depends on different things, such as personal interest, teacher, tasks. Conceptions of learning in higher education. ·Learning as the extending knowledge ·Learning as memorising ·Learning the main ideas of procedures ·Learning something abstractive of meaning ·Learning as procedure aimed at the understanding of reality ·Learning as process inspired by personal interest. ·

Academic success in my culture

Academic success in my culture: the most important factors Stanislav Stõkov MASB11 Academic success is determined by a wide range of factors. For some students, they may not have all of the perfect components, but they rise above their difficulties to have success. Whether a student is gifted academically or not, an important factor is personal determination. Students, who invest more of their free time in their studies and make more effort in lectures than their peers, generally have higher levels of academic achievement. A key component to success is a student's work ethic. Students who are willing to put extra hours in to study and prepare for classes and presentations tend to improve their skills and academic abilities

In Estonia, student can choose Secondary school or Vocational school. Secondary school is divided into three classes: class ten, class eleven and class twelve. Essee Eesti ja Usa haridussüsteedide võrdlus

An American college is an institution of higher learning which lasts over a four year period and which grants/gives Bachelor's degree at the conclusion of studies. The students may gain a Master's degree within a year or two of further study. After another year or two of study and research they may gain a still higher degree of study and research as Doctor of Philosophy. Students of the establishment of higher education are freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors. A freshman is a first-year student, a sophomore a second- year student, a junior a third-year student and a senior a fourth-year student. Higher education in Estonia is basically the same. We have collages and universities, where students are provided with closer education. After students have achieve to graduate, they also get diploma or some sort of degree, depends of school and which degree they were studying for. So in those aspects, where I brought examples, were not so much differences at all

REPORT (FORMAL) This report is intended to describe the access and facilities for disabled ppl in my school. More and more high school students with disabilities are planning to continue their education in high-school. As a student with a disability, you need to be well informed about your rights and responsibilities as well as the responsibilities high-school have toward you. As a disabled student, being well informed will help ensure that student has a full opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the high-schools education experience without confusion or delay. One way to ensure that our school can help the disabled students is to make elevators and lifts, but it costs a lot, so many schools, including ours, does not have such kind of a system. If school does not have elevators and lifts then the other way is to hire people who can help the disabled students out. There is always another way

Oscar Wilde “The Nightingale and the Rose”

Oscar Wilde was born on 16 October in 1854, he was a successful Irish playwright, novelist, poet and author of short stories. He graduated the Magdalen College. Wilde was sentenced two years in prison that was unkind to his health, after he was released in 1897 he spent his last three years penniless. I read a Oscar Wilde`s fairy tale, it was a bit different of usual fairy tales because it didn't end happily. There was a Student, who loved one girl. This girl was a daughter of the Professor. She had said that she will dance with the Student if he would bring her a red rose. But the problem was that there weren't any red roses growing in his garden and he wept, his face buried in his hands. He was very sad because he can't dance with his love. Fortunately a small bird named Nightingale saw him crying, the bird really wanted to help him, she knew that she had found this true lover of whom she had sung night after night

It´s a student´s life

Dear Mr Faraday, I am writing with reference to the article entitled ,, It´s a student´s life" which appeared in the magazine, English in action. Following a note from my friend, recommending that I should express my opinion with some of the views, which the article contained.. Firstly, I can definitely say that I have to disagree that student´s do not know the meaning of the word ,,work." As I am a student also, I know from personal experience that a large quantity of students have been in contact with work in some way or another. In some cases students have to earn their living simultaneously with their studies. Moreover you claimed that students do not contribute nothing to the society. In the student's defence I have to mention that, we are growing individuals, who develop to be the best contribution and enrichment to our country. So I think it is wrong to judge the book by it's covers.

Advantages and disadvantages of taking a cap year - essay

studies in the university or just being tired of school. I think that a gap year is almost the only option for a young person to have a little rest, to enjoy young life, because life never becomes easier and the next chance to stretch out could be when we reach our pension time. To go on a bit longer holiday abroard with best friends is for sure expensive, but I think that it would be the time to remember. A gap year can change the option made earlier which subject a student wanted to study in university, and maybe it is the only time when a student is able to think what he/she really wants. A year off can also ruin the rhythm of studying. It might happen that a student does not want to go back to school after a nice holiday and instead of going back to school he/she would prefer working, earning money and starting a personal life. I think that if a person has his/her clear sights, a gap year would do only good. It may

Millised ajakirjandustudengid saavad tulevikus edukaks?

Which Kinds of Journalism Students are the Ones Who Succeed? It's the end of another semester at the college where I teach, and as I contemplate doing final grades for my journalism classes I find myself thinking about what makes one student successful and another less so. What's the secret formula for doing well in journalism school, and then translating that into a career in the news business? Is it writing ability? Some of my students are naturally gifted writers, the types who always did well in English classes and took a journalism course because they loved to write or were encouraged to do so by one of their teachers. exams). General or vocational education is free of charge, higher education in part-time studies is on a fee-paying basis. Student in colleges of further education often take vocational qualifications to prepare them for a particular job they would like to do, such as computing or tourism. At the end of their course, university students take their final examinations. Students who succeed in passing them graduate with a BA (Bachelor of Arts) or a BSc (Bachelor of Science). Most student in Estonia do not leave at home. They often choose to go and study in another town or city. In the first year, many live in a ,,hall of residence" (student accommodation which can be self-catering or whit food provided). After that, many prefer to rent a room or flat whit other students. Lots of students join clubs and societies when they go to university, such as drama societies and sports clubs. Karin Torim 9.B

Why students dropp out of college

Students tend to drop out because their expectations of college--academically, socially, or both--don't match up with the reality once they get there. They also suffer from lack of motivation, inadequate preparation, and poor study skills. Students who are well prepared for college coursework are more likely to stay in school. Academic help alone is not enough to keep many students in school. Students also need individual support to feel connected to the campus community. When a student drops out of college, everyone loses--the student, the college, and the greater society.

A film review

A Film Review ,,Class" was directed by Ilmar Raag. It is based on the relations between violent leader Anders, his sacrifice Joosep, a new student Kaspar, his popular girl-friend Thea and other classmates. The film talks about the violence in schools what is a very actual theme in Estonia. There comes a new student Kaspar to a city school and quickly becomes popular because he is communicative and talented. He also gets a popular girl-friend, but it all doesn't like to the class leader Anders. There is also a whipping boy Joosep. Kaspar is going to protect him what changes a new classmate to a foeman of Anders. Developing the film uncovers schools violence, relations with parents, pedagogues apathy, punishment and retribution. For me, the film was really galvanic and thought-provoking

Studying abroad

There are even some organisations, who help people get started studying abroad. For example in Estonia there is organisation named YFU , who helps people to get started in foreign country. YFU helps people to find a host family and school, but everything else is up to them. There are many advantages of studying abroad. For example it is a good opportunity to travel and get to know different cultures. An exchange student will also get more independent. Also it is a great way to study foreign language and broaden your outlooks. When people study abroad they make a lot of new friends, also some people have even found their love of life. However studying abroad is not easy. First months are hardest because it is a completely different environment, it takes people a lot of time before they feel comfortable in foreign country.

School system in the USA

Graduate school Students who have obtained a bachelor's degree can continue their education by pursuing one of two types of degrees. The first is a master's degree. This is usually a two-year degree that is highly specialized in a specific field. Students who want to advance their education even further in a specific field can pursue a doctorate degree, also called a PhD. A PhD degree can take between three and six years to complete, depending on the course of study chosen, the ability of the student, and the thesis that the student has selected. The thesis is a very intensive research paper that must be completed prior to earning the degree. It is always required that students pursue a PhD, or sometimes be required of students pursuing a master's degree (depending on the school). Certain courses of study are only available at the graduate school level in America. The most notable of these are law and medicine. Students who want to pursue a degree in one of these

random order to demonstrate comprehension, d) reading and writing commands, e) students issuing commands No forcing to speak Culture is the lifestyle of people who speak the language natively I agree that this method is perfect at the beginner level. And it is pretty natural as well. The goals are having an enjoyable lesson, understanding the instructions and following them. In the beginning it is totally teacher-centred method. If a student doesn´t understand the teacher repeats the instruction. This method is similar to Dewey´s learning technique:" learning by doing". This method emphasizes on listening skills and following the orders. It is difficult to say how is evaluation accomplished but I think if the student performs correctly then the task passed. And once again no native language was used. · Humanistic methods: Community language learning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWn4DJgbGHM

A basic education is provided free of charge for young people in nearly all developed and democratic countries. However, when it comes to university, or higher education, there are many different approaches taken. In some countries (such as Finland and Sweden) higher education is still free. In other countries, higher education is purchased like any other service. In many countries (such as the UK and the USA), fees are charged to students but how much of the cost of education these cover varies greatly. Often governments offer loans and financial support to help students pay these fees. However, more and more people want to go to university, putting student funding systems under pressure. So should Governments charge fees for higher education, or provide it for free? Government should charge fees because it is well known that the `education' is often only a small part of the university experience. Students spend far too much time and ...

The School where I am studying is Académie Ste. Cécile International School. I can take music, drama and languages courses. That is really interesting and I like here. All the classmates are really friendly and understanding. The family where I am living with is big. There is a mother and father, two sons and one daughter. They are really nice. I get along with their daughter whose name is Carlis. My English is better than before and I am more confident. This is a positive experience. I hope you are okay and I hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes, Mari Mets

What is expected of a graduate of the 21st century

Kaisa Kamenik In Mike Nichols 1967 cult film „The Graduate“, Dustin Hoffman character Benjamin Braddock, who has just graduated from college, is facing basically same questions as posed in the title of this essay. Everyone is asking what is he going to do with his life now, but he is very uncomfortable aswering them and at that point he doesn’t care as well. Being a third year history student in University of Tartu, I am wondering over the same questions and find myself often thinking what is expected of me after graduating and how has university played a role in my development for almost three years now. When asked what is the main purpose of university, most people would say that it is preparing students for different proffessions, which would later be the driving force of the country. But I think it is more complicated than that. Going to university is a logical step to a
