The island is very isolated and through the process of speciation, a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as the most alien- looking place on Earth. The Noble Savage in the 20th Century Fiction

Of course, a story can change people without making them go to all sorts of conventions. Even the small ideas make a change. The main part in a story, the one that seemingly makes the impact, who guides the consumer through its change, is the protagonist. The development in the reader or the watcher happens through the transformation of the hero. Usually the main character starts off as an outcast, somebody the society sees as unimportant or too strange. Then something happens that sends the hero on an adventure. The breaking point on his road is meeting a teacher an encounter that gives him the ability to face the adversary of the story. In the end the hero faces his villain, emerges a winner, detaches himself from his outcast status and becomes a significant part of the society. It could be said that the most important part of the hero's progress is this teacher, someone who gives guidance and the knowledge how to defeat the antagonist

Jens Bjorneboe "Jonas"

While journeying, the narrator tells, the little prince passes by neighboring asteroids and encounters for the first time the strange, narrow-minded world of grown-ups. On the first six planets the little prince visits, he meets a king, a vain man, a drunkard, a businessman, a lamplighter, and a geographer, all of whom live alone and are overly consumed by their chosen occupations. Iseloomusta väga kõrge IQ-ga inimest

Iseloomusta vägakõrge IQ-ga inimest. Millised võiksid olla selle inimese nõrgadküljed? Kõrge IQ-ga inimesed on tavaliselt eraklikud. Oleneb just sellest kui kõrge see IQ on. Reisimise essee

Every nation has its own culture, which differs from others. When I have been to some exotic country I can understand the people better because I have seen their culture. Learning different cultures makes everything easier to understand. People who do not travel are missing most of the book, their mind is not so opened and they are unimaginative. They are stuck in their everyday routine. Everything that happens farther than their homeland is very strange for them. I feel sad about people who do not travel. Often the people want to travel but just can not because of their financial or other problems I think I have not travelled much in my life. Usually it is because my financial condition does not allow me to travel to the countries I like but I am happy I have not stayed home sprawling. Alari Toomsalu

Ghost Story

Ghost story A family of four moved to a little old cottage. One night, when they went to bed they heard music coming from the attic, but when they got to the attic, there was nothing but the wind howling. They did not pay much attention to it because they thought it was just wind. A few weeks later, when they arrived home around 1 pm and found their dog, who almost never barked, barking and acting very strange. He was barking at their garage. The family at first thought it was a cat or some other small animal; the father turned his attention to the garage. The whole family then went to see what was going on, when they opened the old squeaking garage door; they saw an old lady who was sitting in a chair rocking back and forth very slowly. The father went to the car and directed the cars headlights towards the lady, they saw nothing, when he turned the lights out again, and the lady appeared

They stumbled across that same building, where the mass murder had happened. Despite the tragedy they bought it because of the low price. Georg, the father of the family, even said that houses do not kill people. The Lutzs moved eagerly in and started to live their American Dream. But strange things began to take place, which happened more and more often. Kathy, the mother of the family, felt worried and went to the library for more information about the house. It is then she found out another dark secret, which seized her with terror. The new version is much more gripping thanks to the amazing special effects and compelling actors. A day out to remember

After all that, I chill in my computer, chat with friends and just watched TV. I had a phone call, I was a little bit surprised because it was my old friend with who I didn't see a long time. she called me, to ask, whether i want to go out with her. I agree and started to dress. When I stepped out from the house, I looked around and see that day was wonderful. When I was walking by the old lady, she was smiling to me, I smiled to her too. And then she said something strange, she said < Be careful today, girl. > At first I didn't notice it, but when I walked more I started to think about this. I started to walk across the road and then everybody around started to scream, I stopped, and then realized, if I had been stepping one step more, the car would have ran me over and then may be I would be dead. I really don't know, was it happened, because this lady said something, or may be it was coincidence

There should be a complete ban on the advertising of dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol

There should be a complete ban on the advertising of dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol There are many legal but dangerous products like cigarettes and alcohol that get a lot of advertising. You can see those advertisements almost everywhere, from streets to television. Should they be banned? Are they useful? Most of these ads are meant for people who don't smoke or drink alcohol and since most of the adults already do one or both of them, they are mainly made for children. It's not like the tobacco or alcohol companies would agree with me on that, but this is how I see it. That makes me agree with the ban, to keep children away from bad habits. People who already smoke or drink mostly don't care about the advertisements and are not affected by them. It can clearly be seen that such adverts are only useful for the companies who gain money from new "addicts". Since new smokers increase ...

Eclipse third chapter(Motives)

Eclipse Chapter 3-Motives Edward and Bella are returning from their trip to Florida as Bella recounts one pointed conversation she had with her mother, Renee, during their visit. Upon arrival at home Charlie expresses missing Bella while she was away, especially her cooking, and tells her to call Jacob as soon as possible. Jacob, who had apparently been calling frequently that day, called again. A Waste of Time

Reading- A Waste of Time? Actually I really don't like reading, but that book is really interesting. If I started to read that book, it's seems boring, but actually it isn't that. It's going more and more interesting and I like it. That book tells the story of Madame Wu. On her fortieth birthday, Madame Wu carries out a decision she has been planning for a long time: she tells her husband that after twenty-four years their physical life together is now over and she wishes him to take a second wife. The House of Wu, one of the oldest and most revered in China, is thrown into an uproar by her decision, but Madame Wu will not be dissuaded and arranges for a young country girl to come take her place in bed. Elegant and detached, Madame Wu orchestrates this change as she manages everything in the extended household of more than sixty relatives and servants. Alone in her own quarters, she relishes her...

A day to remember

my aunt left me in the classroom and drove to the house. I felt my heart sink as I saw go but I soon began to feel better.the times passed quickly and I started making new friends so I began loving the school. However even today, when I think of my first day at school 1 remember the fear that I had and how my teacher and my friends helped me to overcome this feeling. My memories of the first day at school haunt me till today. Never again have I experienced such a mixture of strange feelings. The anxiety of being in school along with the excitement of making new friends- all these made my first day at school most memorable and I long for the innocence and fun that was common among me and my friends.

Class essaay. "Music is the universal language"

. it is in the wind when it blows.. birds, who are loudly screaming now. The noise of cars.. the noise of humans, expecialli their laughing makes me a little happier everytime when I hear it. There're such beautiful voices. Sometimes we just must stand quiet in center on those voices, and catch their message. Music tells us stories wich were never known. Nowadays young people hear music on MP3. They're like in their own reality. Yes it's great to feel that, but a little bit strange, because when somebody wants to ask something at the bus stop, they can't hear anything. Thats sad. I listen to my iPod too, but sometimes it disturbes me, and then I want to hear the naturalmusic after hearing artificial music, which is just imitted that nature by humans. I like to create everything with my hands. I love everything that is connected with art. Some years ago Istarted to paly the goitar, but I havent enough patience. But now, I want to really learn and play it better

First snow

First snow It was unusually hot in my small bedroom when I woke up. As I looked at the clock, it was only 7.30 in the morning and I was still dead tired from my last night`s birthday party. I didn´t feel any strenght left in my muscles but nevertheless I walked across my bedroom to turn the radiator down. That was strange. The heat wasn´t on. When I opened the window to let in some cooling autumn air I saw something slowly falling from the sky. It was too early for the first snow and also the weather was also unusually warm. I opened the window even more to get rid of that suffocating air stuck inside the room but that made it even worse, all the breathable air seemed to fly out. Next, I quickly closed the window and rushed to the bathroom where I was about to take a refreshing cold shower

Lühike monoloog "Luck"

consider to be lucky just embrace that idea that they are lucky start approacing life a bit differently. And because they thing that they are lucky people take more risks haing more unplanned events. But there is also a possibility that the same event can be lucky and unlucky for a person. For example someone who had a bad car accident and broke three ribs and both legs, Yes we can say that he was unlucky because it happed but he survived it so he is very lucky. I am not sure if there is that strange thing called luck or unluck, because in my opinion unplanned good or bad things happen to everyone once in a while

Pet therapy

uncommunicative has recently been given a new name: pet therapy. It has given difficult children, lonely old people and even anti-social prisoners a completely new outlook on life  Even though pet therapy is only now being widely used, it is not a new idea. In the eighteenth century an English doctor, William Tuke, filled the grounds of a hospital for mentally disturbed people with chickens, rabbits and goats. At a time when people were usually punished for strange behavior rather than helped, this was a radical new approach to treating the mentally disturbed. Tuke's idea was that patients could learn self-control by caring for creatures weaker than themselves.  This is an idea which has persisted. In New York, horses, cows, cats and dogs were recruited to heal soldiers who had been wounded during World War II. These animals comforted the traumatized and helped the battle-scarred to avoid becoming obsessed with their injuries.

Different nations

in our country, we'd be affected by the media, so we'll still use English words in our everyday talk and so on.Different nations should accept each others culture, language and traditions. Then it would not be that hard to live side by side. For example, when you have a new neighbour in your home town, who's English, you should go and visit him/her, introduce the town to the person, the customs and the traditions. Then it would be easier for the newcomer. If you're alone in a big strange and different country, you will need someone to support you. Someone, who could teach you to understand the foreign culture and language. We all should have some tolerance, humanity and some compassion. Then we could share our land friendly.

Beryl Bainbridge – “Master Georgie”

is the only one in the book referring to George Hardy as Master Georgie, she constantly follows him around and never lets him out of her sight 2) Dr Potter - sententious geologist who eventually marries another of the Hardy children, he, like Hardy is also an intellectual 3) Pompey Jones – He is a street performer, and also he learns photography from Hardy, as a child he used to steal things from people and return them for a reward I find it strange, that the book is titled “Master Georgie” because the main character is mostly referred as “Hardy”, “George Hardy” or “Mr Hardy”. Myrtle is the only one calling him “Master Georgie”. Mr Hardy leaves his affluent lifestyle in Liverpool, where he is heir to a fortune, to go to war at Inkerman in the Crimea. He believes "that the war would at last provide him with the prop he needed." His story is told by Myrtle, Dr Potter and

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

in Florida and serving as a Colonel in the Confederate Army. Not being married, Elias had allowed his nephew to stay at his estate. One strangeness is that although John could go anywhere in the house he could never enter a locked room with his Uncle's trunks. A second strangeness was in March 1883 a letter postmarked from Pondicherry, India arrived for the Colonel inscribed only "K.K.K." with 5 orange pips (seeds) enclosed. More strange things happened: papers from the locked room were burnt and a will was drawn up leaving the estate to John Openshaw. The Colonel's behaviour became bizarre-he would either lock himself in his room and drink or he would go shouting forth in a drunken sally with a pistol in his hand. On May 2, 1883 he was found dead in a garden pool. On January 4, 1885 Elias's brother Joseph receives a letter postmarked Dundee with the initials "K.K.K" and instructions to leave papers on the sundial

may collapse. This has caused the necessity to protect men and women from the invasion to his or her privacy that can harm subject mentally and give distress, far greater than bodily injury. The solitude and privacy is more and more essential to the individual. They look into several case law about breach of trust, confidence and an implied contract. For example in the famous case of Prince Albert v. Strange, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert made sketches as a hobby and showed them to friends and gave them as presents. Strange had accsess to some of the sketches and used them for own porposes. The court held that this action is prohibited and invasion to privacy. Case of Yovatt v. Maailmakirjandus 1920. - 1930. aastatel

Tollal said inimesed peamise info muust maailmast ja toimuvatest sündmustest just paberkandjate näol. Raamatud, ajakirjad ja ajalehed moodustasid tähtsa osa enamuste inimeste elust ja kujundasid suuresti nende üldise harituse. Teadmist klassikast(kirjandus-toim) peeti oluliseks hea hariduse juures.
