Yellow stone puma

Males and females interact for breeding when females are about 2 1/2 years old. Giving birth throughout the year, females can have litters of up to four kittens, but usually only one or two survive. Born spotted, the kittens stay with their mothers for about 18 months, after which time they will leave in search of their own home range. The Mountain Lion is capable stalk-and-ambush predator; the cougar pursues a wide variety of prey. Primary food sources include ungulates such as deer and bighorn sheep, but it hunts species as small as insects and rodents The Cougar prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but it can live in open areas. The cougar is territorial and persists at low population densities. Individual territory sizes depend on terrain, vegetation, and abundance of prey. A single male lion may require up to 175 square miles of territory for its home range. They prefer wild areas frequented by deer

Environmental problems today

Which are the most problematic environmental problems and how can we avoid them ? To start with, the biggest problem is global warming. The temperature is rising due to air pollution, which is caused by smoke from factories and of rising levels of CO2 . As a result, smog and soot causes health problems. Also, a big problem is deforestation. Due to the fact that it is causing destruction of the rainforest, it contaminates the water. To solve these problems, we certainly should use renewable sources of energy and we need to avoid dangerous gases. For example, we should switch off lights every time when we leave a room. Moreover, we should take public transport more often and stop using CFC's. We can solve environmental problems only if we follow certain rules. that it is causing* ; renewable energy resources*; Therefore, we*; when we leave a room*; Moreover, we should take..* and stop using CFC's* We can solve environmental problems only if we follow certain rules.

Energy - põhjalik referaat energiast

police stations, places of worship, warehouses, hotels, barber shops, libraries, shopping malls--and that's just the beginning of the list. These different commercial activities all have unique energy needs but, as a whole, commercial buildings use more than half their energy for heating and lighting. Picture 2.5. How energy is used in commercial buildings Electricity and natural gas are the most common energy sources used in commercial buildings. Commercial buildings also use another source that you don't usually find used in residential buildings--district energy. When there are many buildings close together, like on a college campus or in a big city, it is sometimes more efficient to have a central heating and cooling plant that distributes steam, hot water, or chilled water to all of the different buildings. A district system can reduce equipment and maintenance costs, as well as save energy.

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Tourism

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Tourism? In today's world tourism is vital part of economy. Although tourism has became main source of income to many countries, it was not so couple of decades ago. This young branch of industry started developing in the second half of last century, when people had more money and sources than ever before. Importance of tourism to countries such as Egypt, Greece and Spain can not be questioned, as employment, service industry and opportunity to sell goods, is related to it. Tourism has also helped to build up certain regions, which otherwise would still be struggling in poverty. Futhermore, to make country desirable destination, governments have to keep crime rate under control, which makes life safer for locals as well.

It was made from wool or a wool/linen combination and twill woven in a pattern of colored stripes which today has become known as tartan, though originally the word tartan referred to the type of cloth (like linen, or cotton) and not the pattern of colors as the word almost exclusively signifies today. Acid rain

PH is the scale measuring the amount of acid in the water and liquid. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14 with lower pH being more acidic while a high pH is alkaline; seven is neutral. Normal rain water is slightly acidic and has a pH range of 5.3-6.0. Acid deposition is anything below that scale. It is also important to note that the pH scale is logarithmic and each whole number on the scale represents a 10-fold change. Causes and History of Acid Rain Acid deposition can occur via natural sources like volcanoes and rotting vegetation but it is mainly caused by the release of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide during fossil fuel combustion. When these gases are discharged into the atmosphere they react with the water, oxygen, and other gases already present there to form sulfuric acid, ammonium nitrate, and nitric acid. These acids then disperse over large areas because of wind patterns and fall back to the ground as acid rain or other forms of precipitation.

Wheel well (rataskaev) This wheel well, first mentioned in 1375, was once one of the main sources of water for Tallinn. The legend says that: Citizen of the town believed that an evil spirit lives in the well and threatens to make all the town wells run dry if it doesn't get regular animal sacrifices. To keep the spirit happy people started to throw dead animals to the well. The main victims appeared to be cats living in the town who were tossed to the well sometimes even live. The practice was so common, that soon it was given a name "Cat's Well". Although the wells in town never ran try

William Turner

the 19 December 1851. He was an English Romantic landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker. Although renowned for his oil paintings, Turner is also one of the greatest masters of British watercolour landscape painting. He is commonly known as "the painter of light". Painting: The subject of the painting is the practice of 18th century slave traders who would throw the dead and dying human 'cargo' overboard during the middle passage in the Atlantic Ocean. Turner was inspired by two sources: by the Zong Massacre of slaves and by lines from James Thomson's The Seasons (The Zong Massacre was the name given to the mass-killing of African slaves that took place in 1781 on the Zong). The violent power of the sea and the strange sea creatures represent the forces of nature punishing the guilty. The painting was widely admired for its use of colour and the way in which sea and sky merge around the distant ship

Pasknääri eluviis

Eluviis. Pasknäär eelistab elukohana tiheda alusmetsaga okas-, sega- ja lehtmetsi. Pesitseb reeglina kuuse-segametsades. Teine talle tuntust toonud fakt on tammetõrudest toitumine.

Forestry and the forest industry in Japan

1953, provides funds for forestry at fixed interest rates that are lower than prevailing rates from private banks. Repayment terms are over decades and most funds have been provided for planting. ----------------------- In any industry, if market conditions deteriorate some establishments leave the industry. Forestry is no exception. In the case of small forests, forestry households decrease their labour input and increase their reliance on other sources of income. Originally, most managed their forests part-time and maintained other jobs. It was therefore easy to reallocate labour input. According to data published by the Forestry Agency, forestry households labour input to forestry has been decreasing constantly since 1971. Full-time forestry households could not leave forestry and had to confront harsh market conditions. For them finding other sources of income meant changing occupations. It is more

Some date it to the Exodus from Egypt circa 1490 BCE. Others say that no Exodus happened. On the basis of archeological evidence, many believe that the ancient Hebrews were originally a group of Canaanites who gradually separated from the main body and eventually developed a separate culture. That would certainly explain why so many Jewish holy days were derived from the Pagan Canaanite culture.  Note 4: Sources differ greatly. A sampling of the Internet on 2015- DEC-02 showed estimates from to 12 to 173 million: o According to a statistical overview in 2011 of religions in China: "The number of Taoists is difficult to estimate, due to a variety of factors including defining Taoism. Celtic Mythology / Keldi Mütoloogia

Celtic mythology is the mythology of Celtic polytheism, apparently the religion of the Iron Age Celts. Like other Iron Age Europeans, the early Celts maintained a polytheistic mythology and religious structure. Among Celts in close contact with Ancient Rome, such as the Gauls and Celtiberians, their mythology did not survive the Roman empire, their subsequent conversion to Christianity, and the loss of their Celtic languages. It is mostly through contemporary Roman and Christian sources that their mythology has been preserved. The Celts peoples who maintained either their political or linguistic identities (such as the Gaels and Brythonic tribes of Great Britain and Ireland) left vestigial remnants of their forebears' mythologies, put into written form during the Middle Ages. Though the Celtic world at its apex covered much of western and central Europe, it was not politically unified nor was there any substantial central source of cultural influence or

Radioactive wastes are usually the by-product of nuclear techology and they are the remnants of nuclear fission. There are different types of nuclear waste.Low-level waste,intermediate-level waste and high-level waste.Radioactivity diminishes over time.Low-level waste is stored in sealed facilities for hours, days or weeks, but high-level waste stays isolated for thousands of years,it is buried deep underground. Radioactive waste comes from different sources as used nuclear fuel and from nuclear weaponry. If contracted, it will cause radiation sickness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acute_radiation_syndrome Radioactive waste is also planned to be disposed into outer space. This process contains launching multiple rockets, because one rocket could not carry much waste. If an incident would happen to the spacecraft, lots of debris would be scattered in our atmosphere. Nuclear weaponry is also a source of the radioactive waste. It causes a lot of
