Conditionals

If you’d called me, I’d have come to see you. (= If you had called me, I would have come to see you.) It can sometimes be used to criticize people or point out their mistakes. If you’d been more careful, you wouldn’t have caused the accident. Linking words used in Conditionals if or when If and when are not the same - if refers to conditions and when refers to time. Thus, in Conditionals, only if, not ‘when’, may be used. when is used to refer to something the speaker knows will happen at some point in time: When I finish cooking, I will call you. if is used to refer to something that we think might happen or for something impossible or imaginary: If you see Ann, tell her to call me. If I were you, I wouldn’t do that. unless, if … not, except if refer to things which have not happened or did not happen or probably will not happen: Come over tomorrow around five, unless my secretary contacts you.

things. His main obsessions are the Empress of Blandings and the great pumpkin. (Quotes 3,4,10). Lord Emsworth is very much attached to the old nobility manners. He tries to do everything like his ancestors did before him. It is most notable in his language: it is exactly like out of a 18th century nobleman's mouth. Although he is deeply attached to these manners, he still prefers to walk in the garden in a more free "uniform". He prefers something comfortable (Quote 5). Lord Emsworth and the gardener Angus McAllister often argue on topics concerning the garden and everything related to it. A good example is the dispute about whether or not to make a gravel path through the Blandings famous yew alley. But since they both know so much about flowers and love them, then they often have friendly chats on that topic (Quotes 6,7). Regarding the nobility manners, he is also very keen on that his son

Respect For Other People

Respect for Other People I would definite the word respect as esteem and as excellence of a person, a personal quality and ability. In human cultures there are varied ways of showing respect by bodily actions. In many European cultures, people shake hands. In others, such as in Japan people bow at the waist when meeting. Frequently, gender is a factor in how respect I displayed in bodily behavior. For example, woman in many Western cultures traditionally curtsy, whereas men bow. As a sign of respect in almost any form of the military is a salute. A salute is used by enlistees to show respect to the position held by officers and by officers to those of higher rank. The 21-gun salute is done within the military for funerals of military members and for high-ranking civilians such as the President. Sometimes the word respect can mean also toleration and tolerance. It means that we accept people who- and lik...

Eclipse, Chapter Seventeen – Alliance kokkuvõte

They argue a moment, but Bella takes the gift. It's a silver bracelet with a tiny wooden wolf charm made by Jacob. Bella thanks him for the gift and lets Jacob put it on her wrist. Jacob asks why she is distracted and tries to get her to explain what's going on. He pulls Embry and Quill over to hear the details just as Alice steps in. A fight nearly breaks out when Jacob blocks Alice from moving and Jasper immediately comes to her side, but Bella stops them. Alice explains that she has seen something and that the Cullens are heading to Seattle. In the discussion, Jacob steps in and demands an explanation. Upon hearing all the details, Jacob insists that the wolves be involved. Alice sees what he means and thinks it's excellent. After a big of arguing, Jasper tells them that if they really want to be involved, there is a "strategic meeting" later on that night they can come to. Jake agrees even though Bella protests.

Simple and small ways affect the enviroment for the better

Simple and small ways affect the enviroment for the better Everyone can do something for the enviroment. All of us should do something, because enviroment is very important to people. Our planet is changing and we need to help it change for the better. One way how to help the enviroment is saving energy. You should switch off anything, that uses electricity. If you’re not using it, then turn it off, it’s simple. This goes for lights, televisions and so on. Also try unplugging if possible, because even when an appliance is turned off, it still may use power. You could switch your light bulbs to LED light bulbs,

see any positive way to get out of it. I have to say that I strongly believe in the meaning of this proverb and I try to recall it in my mind every time I'm in a complicated situation. Although I, like every other person in this world, have my ups and downs, I mostly like to think of myself as a positive person. I always seem to surprise people with my "can-do" attitude and smiley face, especially in severe or akward situations. I tend to believe that there's always something good in bad and that things will always turn out well, no matter how hopeless circumstances might be. Some of my friends, as well as couple of my family members are strong pessimists. While spending time with them I feel how their negative and passive attitude is slowly starting to affect me too. I wish it would be the other way round - I'd affect them with my positivity. But I guess unfortunately I adopt different attitudes a lot more easily rather than spreading mine forwards.

Can you buy everything for money?

Money is a resource for which you can afford to buy anything, of course, if this is enough money. But they are also a lot of things (values) that you can not for the money. You can not buy friendship, family, acquaintances and loved ones much more. Money can be used as means of payment can shop in peace, by paying taxes, etc.. Coming back on the friends you can not afford to buy your friends, we do not pay for this, for us who they are. But between, we have a friend do something (to help), and for a small fee to give to a friend. In my opinion, as well as many others have money in the all-powerful, for it can get things done, you should not get in when it is earned. However, I need to stay alive. Money has grown to what it is today. It was originally just a matter of money, which can be converted or wood grain, it was the same as those of high value goods themselves. But now the money is much more valuable than the products, which could be for any amount

Why I came to study English essay

I had the luck to win some of them. It felt good to be one of the best students in our class. As the school went on and I finally found myself in 9 th grade, just before the exams, and I realised that in the following years after my graduation from elementary school, my mathematic skills had gotten a bit rusty and I was mortified. Our teachers kept saying to us that math is really important in the future and that you have to have the knowledge in mathemathics to actually achieve something in your life. But still, there I was, writing poems and essays, even in my free time, because unlike my skills in maths and other subjects like chemistry and biology, my skills in writing had actually improved and I had also discovered my love of reading in English. I had always loved to read, but many of the books I loved had not been translated into Estonian, so naturally I had to read them in English. At the end of the

Childhood

But when I get pregnant for the first time, we decided to move in a house in Nõmme. It's a beautiful place to live. My favourite, because I lived there when I was younger. It's also nice that we have a big backyard where our children can play and just spend time. Me and my husband can also spend good time there. We usually grill there or have parties with our friends. When Oliver and Merilin were young, about 2 years old, I never scream when they did something wrong because they're only children, they don't know anything about life and doing something right or wrong yet. When they grew up, went to school and sometimes got bad marks, I didn't yell at them. I think it's very wrong. My mother never yelled at me when I got bad marks or everything wasn't so good in school because life teach us and the lifeschool is the best school. When Oliver tould me that he wanted a dog, we brought him a dog for his

Workday needs fairy tales

Workday needs fairy tales Every person has a way to escape the day to the wonderland, through the music, the art of movies, or through the books. Person can loose a job, all the collected treasure, their love. Even if they have just one friend who cares and supports them, they are not alone. It is very encouraging to think that there is someone who will run to help you, when everyone else turn their back. Music is something that can light up the worst day. Music is filled with many feelings, many words and a lot of soul. Music is like a good friend who is always there. If a soul is filled with hate, music is the one to answer with raw, aggressive and straight forward sound. When the mood seems hopeless, it's music that surprisingly lifts the corners of your mouth with it's swinging and rhythmic melodies. If you are feeling down, then it's the music, like mother's soft fondle, that gently cheers you up

How I take attending school seriously

too many things undone. That alone is a really good reason to go to school. Who wants to spend their holiday at school. It would be a torture. Also one reason why I take attending school seriously is because of friends. Cause every child has to go to school there is nothing to do when I miss classes. There isn´t anything to do alone and so it is much better to attend school because then I can be with my friend and also because then we can have more fun. Especially when we find something that is only for us funny but to others it may be something embarrasing. What can we do? We are boys after all. So what am I doing that showes how I take attending school seriously. First of all I try to study enough to get through the tests. I am trying to do my homework if I know how to do it. Okey my marks doesn´t seem good enough to a bystander but to me they are almost good enough. If I´d really want to I could do it better.

Love- your worst enemy?

love really your worst enemy? Is heartache a good reason to start feeling worthless and give up on everything? It is one thing to love a family member. Every person in your family is important and you have to love and care for them. A family has to stick together and always be there for each other. It is not difficult to love somebody related to you. It is quite natural. You can feel the connection between that person and yourself. On the other hand, loving someone outside your family is something very different. It can be very painful and yet that pain may be the best thing that had ever happened to you. Most of us start out as just friends and love comes later. Others fall in love at first sight. It takes a lot of courage to become more than friends. What happens if this doesn't work out? It is not that easy to stay friends after a bad break-up. There is one thing you must not be afraid of and that is heartache. Especially young people who are inexperienced and easy to become attached

Why people go to school?

Why people go to school? In one's opinion is this question easy to answer. Who goes there to learn who goes to make fun ( to amuse ) and who goes there forcibly at all. Another can not answer it. I think that there is more than one answer to this question.. For example, I go to school to learn. Learning is the basis of life and even wise people have said that human being learns the whole life.. but he still dies as fool." I'm not going only to learn at school ... At any time you should learn something new and interesting. The school and education plays a major role in our lives, because the more you will learn and the more you achieve, the more choices are available. School shouldn't be a place where someone has bad to be. In my mind there have to be sufficient funny and interesting at school, and there's to be something that distract the students. Anyone's motivation shouldn't disappear ( being motivated ). If there

I think the character I like the best is Sonchai. He has that something that makes you wonder what is he going to do next or does he belive in things that might exist in this world and might not. He is constantly stuggeling with Damrongs' death. Shortly after he first heard of Damrongs' death he buried hes' problems into a vodka bottle. Essay: my ideal job

I like to read very much, so I could do something I really love daily. The salary is pretty good for teachers. Also, I could enjoy the summer about two months, I don’t have to work in July, I can enjoy summer. Plus, there are holidays on autumn, winter and spring. Also, I can get home before 5’o clock. There are also disadvantages. It is hard to teach the subject, when kids aren’t interested about it. Maybe they don’t want to listen my talk and do something else. Nowadays, kids have a smartphones and other technical devices, which can take away their attention. Also, after the work, when i come home, I have to prepare for the next lesson and check their tests and so on. Despite all the things, I would really like to become to teacher. I have dreamt about this since I was ka kid. This is my ideal job.

Leap of faith

All the people around you seem to have a goal in their life, almost if they knew what they were destined to since they were born. As if you were the only one, who has no idea what’s going on in your future. But, if look closely, you will find out. that nobody is 100% sure of their chosen career paths. Nobody was born knowing their career or their life purpose. Sometimes, or may I say, almost in all occasions, you must have faith in something. It’s like believing in something, when others will say it’s impossible or pointless. Nowadays, we get a lot of advice from our parents, teachers and from everyone. But what is most important is that you have to dig deep down and ask yourself, who do you want to become. Not which career path will guarantee you money and success, not career path that your parents want, not the career path that most of the young people follow. No! Figure out what makes you happy no matter how crazy it sounds

House of my dreams

Vsevolod Dolgov So, today I want to tell you about my house and house of my dreams. I live in a three-bedroom flat with my mother and brother. Our flat is very big, well, it is very big for me. It is very warm in there, but my mom says it's cold. I have my own room, and it is very cool, because it is like my own flat. I have all my things in there, such things like: a computer, books, my big bed, a guitar and diplomas. There, in my room, is all my life, if you want to know something about me, all you need is to visit my room. We live on the ground floor, and because of that, we do not get a lot of sun in the flat. Our city is not so big, but we live far from the center, our house is in the north-east of the city- it is about fifteen minutes by bus. But it is not so bad, in big cities you need fifty minutes! That’s why I love my city. My dream house should be located outside the city, where I can find true peace and happiness

From these moments on, i realised that you can only get somewhere if you do something yourself. I would not have had these opportunities if i would have just waited for good luck. It made me think, what i would like to do in the future and where to be. I already knew, that my dream was to study abroad, and after Brussels it came to me. Oscar Wilde “The Nightingale and the Rose”

The reddest rose in the world was ready. When the Student saw that he was really happy and grabbed that and ran up to the Professor's house to see his love. But the girl instead of falling into Student's hands, frowned. She said that the Chamberlain's nephew had sent her some real jewels and everybody knew that they cost far more than flowers. Boy was disappointed and left. He was really disappointed in true love, he went to his room and began to study Metaphysics. Moral was something like so that people don't notice the real values in life, they often don't appreciate the most generous acts. People also start to understand values after they have lost somebody or something.

small children, to camouflage a person's fear or insecurity, establish a group identity, establish membership in a group and maintain the group's boundaries, express solidarity with other people or just to add humor, emphasis or "shock value" (http://people.howstuffworks.com/swearing1.htm). As can be seen, swearing has many reasons, but the first one is probably the most common. Using a swear word to emphasize something is often necessary as it shows how people really feel about things Secondly, swearing can be also quite beneficial. It can be a a useful substitute to physical violence as swearing often frees people from anger or frustation.Swear words can also be used in a more positive manner, in the form of jokes and humor, storytelling, self-deprecation or even social commentary. Tolerance.

Ladies and gentlemen, before I move to my actual topic, think with me for a second on this scenario... A black exchange student from Kenya comes to our school and you see him getting beaten up by a bunch of bullies without no apparent reason, what would you do? More then a few of us pretend as if they had not seen anything. I myself would feel awful, but I wouldn't know what to do either. Although I would condone myself with the idea, that life is difficult and it's just something you have to deal with. But does tolerance mean that all manners should be accepted? No, of course not. Manners that disrespect or hurt others, like being mean or bullying, or manners that break social rules, like lying or stealing, should not be tolerated. Tolerance is about accepting people for who they are -- not about accepting bad behavior. Tolerance also means treating others the way you would like to be treated. Nobody wants to be mocked or even be a victim of physical violence

Why do we learn the English language?

easy to travel there. I lke to read books. And I like to read newspaper too. If I know, for example, English I´ll be able to read ,,The Morning Star". I know, that it is a very popular newspaper. Knowledge of foreign languages helps us to develop friendship and understanding among the people. For example, we have a foreign exhibition in Moscow. If I know a foreign language, it is easy for me to visit this exhibition. If I want to ask something, I can do it in English. You can see a lot of advertisements, signboards, names in the street. They are in foreign languages. Very often they are in English. If you know English, you can read and understand them. Now we buy many dresses from other countries. If you know English well, you can read something about size of this or that thing. It is clear for you what this dress is made of. There are a lot of films in foreign languages. If you know them, you can understand films without any help

Talent vs experience speech

Talent vs experience Dear audience I would like to speak about talent vs experience. Talent is something you are born with. But on the other hand experince is gained through life. John Wooden has said: “I'd rather have a lot of talent and a little experience than a lot of experience and a little talent. “ I agree with the statement. To start with, while practising some sports and professions one needs to be talented. For instance, you can’t be a ballet dancer if you haven’t assumptions for that or you can’t be a composer if you haven’t musical hearing

Review "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

English lesson course. It was very good way for English skills practice and also self- liberalizing. I think many teenagers would be able to relate the book to the actual themes - it's a modern classic of today. Every teeneager has had once felt himself sort of depressed and upset. It is absolutely normal state for identity formation. We mature, we become adults, we revise our values and are feeling really unusual sometimes. Lots of times I have caught myself thinking that I'd already felt something like this before... Lots of moments in this book were really similar to some periods of my life and many relatives seemed very similar to characters of this book. "The Catcher in the Rye" certainly wouldn't be everyone's "cup of tea book", however I find it an exciting and captivating reading, with a variety of brutal reality poured in along with some humour, contrasting with moments of depression. For me it's quite difficult to rate this book. On the one hand, it is very strange and depressive

well, just as Denis was is the eyes of the society. "Let's check that noise out," said Creasha and jumped from the open window to the slippery rooftop. "Are you crazy? You'll get killed there!" "Come and help me then!" "You idiot!" But Creasha only smiled as an answer. Soon the both girls were climbing on the roof. "Wait," said Creasha, the oldest. "What is it?" "What do you mean, can't you hear that?" "Hear what?" "This...I don't know how to describe it,,, It's like a clock's ticking or something!" "Maybe it's a bomb?" asked Suzan with an irony in her voice, her imagination was very rich. Creasha went really pale and shook her sister. "A bomb? You really think so?" "It could be. Mom and dad are clever politician they have plenty of enemies, just as Danny has!" "Damn it! You're right!" "Oh yea, I saw something like that in a western movie as well..." "You're a genius! Money

Money. Money is certainly something which is often discussed in today's world. Hardly a day goes by without the subject of money being raised in most people's lives. Everyone uses money. We all want it, work for it and think about it. If you don't know what money is, you are not like most humans. Most people don't spend much time wondering what money is, their major concern is how much they have, and how to get more. However, it is highly debatable whether it is more important than other considerations, such as health and

suffered from alcoholism. Iron Man's heart condition was his other weakness worth mentioning. His heart had been replaced by a transplant powered by palladium core which was slowly killing him during Iron Man 2. Iron Man didn't seem to have any physical weaknesses at least when he was in his suit. Tony Stark repeatedly said that his technology was the most advanced in the world. Iron Man's weakness was his personality. Despite all the strengths and weaknesses, there is always something a person values in life. For Tony Stark it was definitely the people close to him. It often seemed like he was all about money and fame, and was never good at relationships, but he was true to his friends and acquaintances, in a way. In Iron Man Tony confessed to his personal assistant Pepper Potts that she was all he had. At the conclusion of the movie Iron Man 2, the stage was set for the beginning of Tony and Pepper's relationship. Stark was also frequently helped by his friend

Essay about necessaty of zoos

20th century. The population in the Tanzanian Selous Game Reserve, once the largest of any reserve in the world, dropped from 109 000 in 1976 to 13 000 in 2013. 85 000 elephants were lost to poaching in Tanzania between 2009 and 2014. Even though zoos compared to reserves are really small, they are still important in preserving animal species. Also, some of the animals lose their natural habitat completely due to the natural disasters or something even worse like pollution caused by who?-human being. It is really hard to accept the fact that we are trying to protect something from ourselves. Giant panda in south central China does not have a "home" anymore. Chinese Wolong National Nature Reserve with the help of UNESCO World Heritage Site and Japanese zoos are helping to preserve panda bears. A 2006 New York Times article outlined the economics of keeping pandas, which costs five times more than that of the next most
