Malthus alahindas tehnoloogilist progressi praeguse tehnoloogiaga saab samalt pindalalt korda...

similar to the ISA bus used in personal computers and is capable of data trans- fers in the 5 Mbytes/sec range. Many CPU boards also have the PC/104 Plus bus, which has characteristics similar to the much faster (133 Mbytes/sec) PCI bus. Although it might seem that the faster bus is always preferred, it is often less expensive to design a peripheral board for the PC/104 bus than for the PC/104 Plus. PC/104, due to the slower clock rates, allows longer traces and simpler logic. If you have a relatively large analog I/O board plugged into a PC/104 CPU board, the relaxed timing constraints of PC/104 may make layout easier. Many low-volume products simply do not sell enough units to justify the higher development costs associated with PC/104 Plus. Of course, this assumes that the PC/104 bus will support the necessary data rates. Similar considerations apply to other buses, such as PCI and Compact PCI. EMC

The time passes quickly. The plane arrives at the airport on time. 6)Travelling by train is slower than by plane but it has its advantages. When on the train you can always see the country side around you, so you are not simply travelling, but your holidays have already begun. To have a good trip by train you must book the tickets in advance. When the day of your departure comes, you go to the railway station, which is usu¬ally closer to your home than the airport. neurotransmitter acetylcholine on memory. Rats were trained to go through a maze. Once they were able to do this two different groups of rats were injected with chemicals that either increased or decreased the activity of acetylcholine in the brain. There was also a third group, who were not injected anything. The results showed that the rats with more acetylcholine in their brain were faster in finding the food in the maze and the rats with less acetylcholine were slower and took more wrong turns. The researchers concluded that acetylcholine played an important role in creating a memory of the maze. Major depressive disorder is an affective disorder that is related to low levels of neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain. People with depression are often treated with SSRI-s, that block serotonin reuptake when it is in the synapse, causing it to act for a longer time than normal and increasing the available serotonin that is needed for mood regulation.

It's the little--John details that are vital. Little things make big things happen. Wooden, Hall of Fame NCAA basketball coach (10 NCAA titles in 12 years) Common Questions and Criticisms CAN THIS FREQUENCY REALLY BE ENOUGH? Yes. Doug McGuff MD compares burn healing to muscle tissue healing to explain: Building muscle is actually a much slower process than healing a wound from a burn [which typically takes one to two weeks]. A burn heals from the ectodermal germ line, where the healing rate is relatively faster, because epithelial cells turn over quickly. If you scratch your cornea, for instance, it's generally going to be healed in 812 hours. Muscle tissue, in contrast, heals from the mesodermal germ line, where the healing rate is typically signi cantly slower

Multimode & Singlemode Fibers Multimode & Singlemode fiber are the two types of fiber in common use. Both fibers are 125 microns in outside diameter - a micron is one one-millionth of a meter and 125 microns is 0.005 inches- a bit larger than the typical human hair. Multimode fiber has light traveling in the core in many rays, called modes. It has a bigger core (almost always 62.5 microns, but sometimes 50 microns ) and is used with LED sources at wavelengths of 850 and 1300 nm (see below!) for slower local area networks (LANs) and lasers at 850 and 1310 nm for networks running at gigabits per second or more. Singlemode fiber has a much smaller core, only about 9 microns, so that the light travels in only one ray. It is used for telephony and CATV with laser sources at 1300 and 1550 nm. Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) is large core ( about 1mm) fiber that can only be used for short, low speed networks. Step index multimode was the first fiber design but is too

as kittens undergo the colour change and the face becomes reddish. By age two, they may resemble a red Burmese. It differs from amber as ambers have dark noses and paw-pads. Non-agouti (solid) amber kittens are very dark with a dark face that is last to go red while russet kittens have off-white faces (possible due to Burmese sepia gene in the mix), which are the first part to go red (rather than the last as in ambers), and pale undersides. The russet colour change appears to be slower than the amber colour change. Russet kittens to date have been larger at birth than their siblings and somewhat on the large side as adults. ESTONIAN SYMPHONIC MUSIC. THE FIRST CENTURY 1896-1996.

The Girl is moving and observes people in action. Her gracious dance sounds wistful. 1 The work was first staged at the Schwerin State Theatre (the then East Germany) in 1960 with Kurt Masur conducting. The first symphonic performance was by ERSO, 7 Oct. 1960, conducted by Erich Kõlar. 2 Kuus Eesti tänase muusika loojat (Six Creators of Estonian Modern Music) (Tallinn: Eesti Raamat, 1970) 117-118. In the third movement the bi-tonal leading image appears anew in a slower tempo. The Girl feels dissatisfied and resigned, her anxiety and displeasure are increasing: Example 82. Her yearning and passion are softened by flute music in the culmination: how many beautiful days are still to come? Obviously the outstanding feature is the plasticity of Tamberg’s thinking. The functionality has lost its role, instead the tone C is the tonal centre for the whole work, sounding as “pure” harmony at the end. The tonality is extended. Contrasting

African villages, are imported. You shower. You show me a water company owned by Blacks. Though Africans have water companies, they invariably still have to be built and maintained for them by Europeans. In the Black community, all the products they use are produced by other people. That is not an economy. This is a lesson we should learn. When the Caucasian needed slaves to work in their farms, they made Blacks their machines. They found these machines much slower when they invented the horse-drawn plough and they became superfluous. When they found the cold unbearable, they invented heating systems. When they found summer heat unbearable, they invented the air conditioner. When they needed a way of talking to one another without visiting each other, they invented the telephone. When they stopped the practice of town-crier, they invented the radio. When they found writing with pens too slow, they first invented the typewriter and now the computer

Bunny. "Pegasus" does not denote anything, because there is in reality no winged horse for it to denote. (We shall discuss such names at some length in chapter 3.) Or consider pronouns of quantification, as in: (5) I saw nobody. 4 Philosophy of Language It would be a tired joke to take "nobody" as a name and respond, "You must have very good eyesight, then." (Lewis Carroll: "Who did you pass on the road?" . . . "Nobody" . . . " . . . So of course nobody walks slower than you."1 And e. e. cummings' poem "anyone lived in a pretty how town"2 makes little sense to the reader until s/he figures out that cummings is perversely using expressions like "anyone" and "noone" as names of individual persons.) Second, consider a simple subjectpredicate sentence: (6) Ralph is fat. Though "Ralph" may name a person, what does "fat" name or denote? Not an individual. Certainly it does not name Ralph, but describes or character- izes him (fairly or no).

What kind of so- ciety would we have if everyone lived and behaved exactly the way you do? Many of the problems in our society would not exist if this test were applied regularly in debates over public and social policy. Gov- ernments would be slower to approve certain actions in the areas of crime, education, welfare, and business if there was a likelihood that everyone would engage in those actions. ■ SET HIGH STANDARDS FOR YOURSELF Here are some questions that you can ask yourself on a regular basis: First, ask yourself, “What kind of a world would my world be if everyone in it were just like me?” Just imagine! The Japanese had evidenced some interest in the San Francisco-Honolulu scrambler, and Marshall was acutely sensitive "that the Japanese would have grasped at most any straw" to suggest to the isola- tionists that the administration had committed an overt act that had forced the Japanese hand. Japanese interception of a scrambler warning might thus have sent the country to war divided. So Marshall shunned the scrambler telephone and relied on the slightly slower but much more secure method of enciphering a written message. As he was completing the message, Stark called him back. He had reconsidered and wanted Marshall to add the usual admonition to show the message to the naval opposites. Marshall added: "Inform naval authorities of this communication." Stark offered the Navy communication facilities, but Marshall said that the Army's could get the message out as quickly. Marshall gave the message to Bratton to take it to the War
