Nobody can win a war

So they become winners, but it is only formally. On the other hand, there is only one advantage of a war getting some territory or money, but it has much more disadvantages like violence, distraction, houndreds of innocent victims, human's deaths etc. What's more, millions of veterans and their children would remember cruelty, violence and rudeness. In conclusion, I would like to say that war has neither winners nor losers. If somebody wins a war, he is the same loser like those who are not, because he puts himself at the same low moral level as a simple criminal.

To a Skylark

Shelly asks the lark to teach him to sound as joyous because he says that none of the existent books could ever teach him such art. Shelly ends the poem by asking the bird to teach him at least half of his skills so that the world would listen to his poetry in the way he admires the Skylark's singing. Wordsworth Wordsworth's poem is more about the speaker rather than the bird. It also praises the lark and its ability to sound joyous but it concentrates more on the wish to reach the same heights as the bird. The poem starts with Wordsworth asking the bird to lift him up and teach him. He wishes to reach the place where the lark gets it's inspiration from. I have walked through wildernesses dreary And to-day my heart is weary; Had I now the wings of a Faery, Up to thee would I fly. These lines create the image that Wordsworth was walking in the woods when he saw a skylarks' nest up high and that was what gave him inspiration. He wishes he could fly like a

Wonders of the modern world

Essay Wonders of the modern world Wonders are different. I am sure that today's world wonders are not the same that they were years ago. World has gone on and so the same way is with wonders. In my opinion, the most needed wonder is Internet. It has developed quite quickly. Most of young people can not live without it. Youth can communicate each other and they can also find some necessary information. There are also some elderly people who need the Internet. Usually they use it to do work, but older people also use it to communicate with other people like friends or colleague. Some elderly people may use the Internet even more than some youth.

In 1956 he married the American writer Joy Gresham, 17 years his junior, who died four years later of cancer at the age of 45. Lewis died three years after his wife, as the result of renal failure(neeru puudulikkus). His death came one week before his 65th birthday. Media coverage of his death was minimal, as he died on 22 November 1963 the same day that U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated(mõrvatud), and the same day another famous author, Aldous Huxley, died. Lewis's works have been translated into more than 30 languages and have sold millions of copies.

The first effect of foreign influences is of course the volume of the vocabulary. Borrowings influence native words stilistically and semantically. If we have 2 words in the language: one native, other borrowed, then they become different in meaning and usage (nt, to meet or to encounter- meaning's the same, but stilistically different) Under the influence of borrowings native words narrowed their meaning (nt stool-iste, chair was borrowed, chair infuenced stool and it is now a taburet). Borrowings have influenced the English language a lot but native elements should not be disregarded or overlooked. How far can we go being tolerant?

How far can we go being tolerant? Tolerance- it is the willingness to accept or tolerate somebody ot something especially opinions or behaviuor that you may not agree with, or people who are not like you. When we speak about tolerance and being tolerant, then of course all of us do not have the same opinion about tolerance. There is saying that there are as many different opinions as people in the world and talking about tolerance is not different. How we tolerate other people and their behaviour depends a lot of how we are raised and educated, where we live and who we connect to When we hear word ,,tolerant" then mostly we connect it with homo sexuals, racism, religion and all kinds of different people(disabled people for example) and how we tolerate those things

What are the most needed professions in the 21st century?

More growing computer using and replacing jobs with robots and computer programmes leave some people without jobs. That's why people need to know more and more about computers. Companies need someone to look after the computers and they also need computer repairmen who know how to fix computers. There are viruses in the computers and hackers who try to brake in the computers and every companies computers need to be protected. I guess that the most needed professions in our country are the same in other developed countries. As you may have noticed, all the countries have needs for the same professions, actually. I think that younger people need to know how to use newer technology, or at least learn how to use it. I really hope that the doctors who we have left, won't go anywhere, because we need them really much.

Are student organizations beneficial for students?

There are lots of benefits participating in the organizations, but some drawbacks as well. It is clear that student organizations are beneficial for students. Firstly, it helps students to find out their interests, which helps them in the future, when they are choosing suitable profession. It is always better when you already have some imagination of the job. In addition, organizations give new skills and knowledge. Secondly, it connects people with same interests, which leads to a more active social life. It seems that right connections are even more important, when it comes to finding a job, than education. Another relevant point is that nowadays you have to know how to work in a group and student organizations are excellent places to practise it. It must also be noted that good ideas come more easily in a group. In addition, it is easier to make these ideas come alive with lots of people than alone. It is

About a minute later, the cash starts to fall down from the ceiling over the audience. The next day, FBI arrests The Four Horseman, and the big thrilling chase starts. The FBI, leaded by the general agent (Mark Ruffalo) and an Interpol detective (Mélanie Laurent), tries to reveal the secrets of the magic trick. At the same time The Four Horseman outwits them many times. Parallelly to the FBI a lordly ex-magician (Morgan Freeman) tries to find out the bank robbing secret. The film scrolls up to big finale, what ends with a culmnation and a lot of surprises. I truely enjoyed the movie. I have seen Louis Leterrier's films and "Now You See Me" is the best of them for sure. There was enough tricks and magic to keep you up waiting for the next illusion

Racism Racism is discrimination between different race people. Mostly people are discriminating people who aren't the same skin color as they are, but there are many more discriminations. Racism is belief, that people, who aren't the same skin color, who don't look like you or whose life standards aren't like yours, then you are better and more intelligent than them. White people mostly discriminate black people. They call them dumb and violent. Biggest issue with racism is in USA. Many centuries ago black people were white people's slaves, but when the slavery became unacceptable, white people and black people had to live together in America and have mixed. Nowadays many americans still believe, that black

Educational problems of public school, Report

Report The aim of this report is to compare Estonian and British students opinion on educational system. We wrote down our opinion on the 6th of september 2012 in our english class. We had 12 students who gave an opinion about the Estonian educational system. Corporal punishment is illegal in British and Estonian schools. 62% of British childrens think that it would be needful but only 31% Estonian childrens have the same opinion. Actually it could be not banned, because if they used controlled corporal punishment it is not likely to be harmful. I would argue that there were actually fewer discipline problems back in the old days when corporal punishment was more common. Most school in England require children to wear school uniform. Estonian children no longer wear uniforms but few decades ago they wore uniforms. 74% British students and 39% Estonian

The climate in Estonia

It is not completely dark at night from the beginning of May until the end of July. Estonia, on the coast of the Baltic Sea, is at the same latitude in Europe as central Sweden and the northern tip of Scotland. In North America, the middle latitude of Estonia passes through the Labrador peninsula and southern coast of Alaska. However, due to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf Stream, the weather in Estonia is considerably milder than the continental climate characteristic of the same latitude. The temperature in the summer months (June September) is typically 15ºC...18ºC and in winter 4ºC...5ºC. Estonian weather offers many surprises. Temperatures may fluctuate by 20ºC. In the early morning the thermometer might read 12ºC and by afternoon it may already be 10ºC. Although it doestn't always snow in winter, there tends to be about 10cm of snow on the ground consistently from late December through to the beginning of March

School Uniforms

School uniforms Uniforms are in many schools nowadays and they are approved by many people. Also, there are people who do not like them. So, are the uniforms good for pupils or not? There are many good sides of wearing uniforms. First, everyone is equal. There would be no fights or teasing about people's clothes because everyone is wearing the same ones. Secondly, school uniforms help to create a strong sense of belonging somewhere. With different clothes no one would notice, that for instance you and your friend go the same school. It would be easier to recognize people with their uniforms. Uniforms also prepare you for your future life, when you often have to dress smart when you go to work. It is a lot easier to dress every morning because you do not have to choose between different sets of clothes. You will have only one to

Having a job while studying

Having a job especially while you are studying is great responsibility for a human being. It is difficult to keep both your job and studies up. Although there are good points, like earning money to support yourself, gaining work or life experience, learning more about how the world works something, that schools usually do not teach. Being practical with your time comes in handy while trying to work and study at the same time. If one can manage to do that, it will benefit your greatly in many ways. Some people just cannot keep that up, but if one would think again, not everyone is made the same. However as mentioned, nothing is all good. Working while studying causes irregularities in many students' lives. Lack of sleep, stress and missed classes is not a nice combination for a good life. Third of five sons, he spent his childhood in Willingboro together with his younger sister Carol, Bill, his dad and Evelyn, his mother. Respect For Other People

A salute is used by enlistees to show respect to the position held by officers and by officers to those of higher rank. The 21-gun salute is done within the military for funerals of military members and for high-ranking civilians such as the President. Sometimes the word respect can mean also toleration and tolerance. It means that we accept people who- and like they are. Does not matter what skin color you have, do you love men or women or are you religious or not. No one in earth is the same as I am and I am not the same like they are. I have the right to be different and like other people should accept it, I should accept and respect them. To respect other people means some how to make compromises. It means that, we need to find the best possible solution. According to cultural background it can mean different things: mostly it has a positive meaning- as consent, an agreement where both parties win something; in the USA it may rather have negative connotations as both parties lose

The Matlock Paper Book Review

girlfriend brutally tortured and gang raped which makes Matlock very emotional. Eventually James discovers something that not only puts his own life but also the life of the girl he loves at risk. One thing I liked the most in this book was that every chapter of the book ends with something very fascinating which makes it very hard to put the book away. I also liked conversations between people, they almost always ended with something interesting. My only criticism on the book would be same as I mentioned before, there were very long descriptions and quite a few lines about the persons past everytime a new character came into, this doesn´t look too interesting for me, I want the plot already to move on! All in all, if you´re a fan of thriller books, you´ll propably like this one also but I think that there are better books out there, propably even from the same author. Unfortunately I haven´t

upcoming contest. That means to train every day without complaining about the lack of free time. Furthermore, competition is needed in order to be able to compare different things. If we do not compete, we can not ever know who is stronger, better and smarter. We can only say our own subjective opinion. For instance, If we need to make university admission tests, we all know, the smartest win.Clearly we understand that all have chances to win, because everyone must pass the same test and have equal chances to prepare for it. Opponents of this view say that the competition is not necessary, because we can not compare due to the fact that we all are different. Even in nature there is nothing exactly the same. Also, people have different skills- somebody can sing well, the other person is an excellent communicator, and the third is good in mathematics. How to tell who is the most talented? Different cultures

Different cultures- a problem or blessing? When we live in our country we never think that something that we do is wrong and needs some changes. Only by meeting the different cultures you may think that some things that you had before were worse or better than they need to be. Effective communication with people of different cultures is especially challenging. Cultures provide people with ways of thinking--ways of seeing, hearing, and interpreting the world. The same words can mean different things to people from different cultures, even when they talk the "same" language. When the languages are different, and translation has to be used to communicate, the potential for misunderstandings increases. Second are "behavior constraints." Each culture has its own rules about proper behavior which affect verbal and nonverbal communication. Whether one looks the other person in the eye-or not; whether one says what one means overtly or talks

Over the past decade, women have resolved into leadership positions, encouraging the same sex to voice their opinions in voting booths, political debates, and society. Not only in America, but nationwide. Women comprise over 35 percent of the lower house in Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Demark; 15 percent or less are seen in parliaments within ten countries . It also changed people's thinking. Young americans tried to copy what they saw in the movies. They dreamed about faraway places and a different kind of life. How to dress, what they could be seen doing. Made people more equal. Rich and poor families saw the same movies. The children all shared the same wish to be like movie stars. Culture and westernization. The culture in big towns moved over to rural areas. The nation exported it-s culture through movies . Movies were actually key to the westernization of the world as 90% of all movies then were made in hollywood/us. Information travelled faster. At some point the movie companies wanted to expand and do movies further away. People needed to communicate more. Another thing that

the town Lindanisa: Lyndanisse in Danish, Lindanäs in Swedish, also mentioned as Ledenets in Old East Slavic. According to some theories the name derived from mythical Linda, the wife of Kalev and the mother of Kalevipoeg. who in an Estonian legend carried rocks to her husband's grave that formed the Toompea hill. It has been also suggested that in the context the meaning of linda in the archaic Estonian language, that is similar to lidna in Votic, had the same meaning as linna or linn later on meaning a castle or town in English. According to the suggestion nisa would have had the same meaning as niemi (meaning peninsula in English) in an old Finnish form of the name Kesoniemi. After the Danish conquest in 1219 the town became known in the German, Swedish and Danish languages as Reval (Latin: Revalia). The name originated from (Latin) Revelia (Estonian) Revala or Rävala, the adjacent ancient name of the surrounding Estonian county.

Computers - indispensable part of our life

on our lives. Chat rooms allow us to connect with like minded people and discuss with them about our favourite topics. Messengers also allow us to connect to your friends across the world and talk to them. We use computers to talk and chat with people all over the world. Often we lose our sence of time for this and don't even accept the fact that it is not useful for us. It has been reported that programmers after a long time of working with computers began to relate to others in the same way than they did to their computer. They begin to loose relational skills especially the ability to synchronize with group behavior or other human to human relatioships. The fact that programmers use computers more than us, doesn't change the fact that it could affect us the same. Although it is good to talk to people using computers, one should always prefer communicating people in real-life. We use computers daily, but do we accept the fact that long-term using of computers is

Victorian life - Briti ajalugu

The problems included poor education system for children(teachers uninspired and low paid, children weren't taught reading and writing), physically demanding jobs(breaking rocks and so on; very detrimental to health) and long, 10-hour workdays; women, children and men had different living and working areas in the workhouse, so families were split up. To make things even worse they could be punished if they even tried to speak to one another! The food was tasteless and the same day after day. Children could also find themselves 'hired out' (sold) to work in factories or mines. At the end of 19th century, people started realizing that workhouses are terrible places and they were improved greatly(better healthcare, different rules to working and people who are accomodated) Life of women Women were supposed to stay at home and look after the children and house. Women didn't have many rights that they do nowadays. They couldn't: own property sue people

Monologue and photos

share a quality time together. And that’s what really counts. Option 2 I rather disagree. To begin with, you have to spend time with your friends. For example, it is much easier to make friends with those you share some common hobbies with. Moreover, in order to offer mutual support, friends need to be there for each other all the time. For instance, it would be difficult for me and my best friend to help each other if we didn’t live in the same town. Finally, in order to move to the same direction, you and your friend just have to have time for each other. For example, I feel more connected with those friends I see on a daily basis than with those I see very seldom. Option 3 I partly agree and partly disagree. On the one hand, a good friendship always survives, no matter what. For example, I have a good friend whom I met 10 years ago in Germany, and we’ve been in touch ever since. Moreover, true friendship does not happen right away. It develops through many ups and downs

Housing

the building of their own houses. This notion of houses principally as investment leads to a strange approach toward house prices. Individuality and conformity Flats are not unpopular just because they do not give enough privacy. It is also that they do not allow enough scope for the expression of individuality. Not everything about housing in Britain displays individuality. Most houses are built one at a time. Instead, whole streets, even neighborhoods, are built at the same time and same design. But if you walk down the same street that you saw from the air, every single house would seem differentpeople give individuality to their house. All this says to us that anybody who wants to built an extension to their house must first get "planning permission" from the local authorities. Interiors: the importance of cosiness British idea of home is as much psychological as physical, so is their idea of domestic comfort.

Comparison of diesel and petrol engine

gasoline and diesel engines. Advantages and disadvantages of gasoline and diesel engines The question then is, which engine is "better". By better I mean more efficient, powerful, and faster. The efficiency of the diesel cycle is higher than the gasoline cycle because of higher compression ratio, and because the temperature of combustion in a diesel engine is much higher. The higher temperature is outweighed by the increased heat output at that same temperature. A gasoline engine cannot have the same compression ratio as a diesel engine, because fuel and air are mixed before they reach the cylinder, and they would explode before the piston reached the correct firing position, causing the engine to "knock" and not exploit the most efficient use of energy. It is true then that a diesel engine is more cycle efficient.

Essay about Chinese language taking over English

as the world's most important language?", he must often answer the questions concerning Chinese importance over English. Graddol states that China's economy is growing and it is already second in the world. In fact, it has become the largest exporter and first in energy consumption. In addition, China will presumably be the largest manufacturer soon. However, he questions whether Chinese language grows at the same pace as its economy. Graddol's teaching in Hong Kong starts with a lecture called "World Englishes". He notes that he wrote his book "The Future of English" in 1997, same year when China got Hong Kong back from Britain. Graddol reminds the students, how many things wasn't happened then: euro was not put in use, even Windows 98 was not ready. He had been in Hong Kong before that, actually, making a TV-programme about global English for BBC, which showed that Putonghua, the native language,

Petersburg to Warsaw . The construction project was controlled by the Russian Ministry of Roads. The port of Paldiski was chosen because its southerly position made it ice free all the year round. Soon after both Paldiski and Tallinn experienced an upswing in trade, notably exports of grain. In 1877 another line was complete, connecting Tapa and Tartu; later extended to Valga in 1887, which brought a connection to Latvia via the Pskov Valga Riga line also being constructed at the same time.Additionally a network of narrow gauge railways (750mm) were being built in Estonia, the first connecting Valga and Pärnu in 1896, then Mõisaküla to Viljandi (1897), later extended via Paide to Tallinn in 1901 PRESENT SERVICES The rail transport system in Estonia consists of circa 1,200 kilometres of railway lines, of which 900 kilometres are currently in public use. Speculation about Shakespeare

to prove either way.[180] Sexuality Main article: Sexuality of William Shakespeare Few details of Shakespeare's sexuality are known. At 18, he married the 26-year-old Anne Hathaway, who was pregnant. Susanna, the first of their three children, was born six months later on 26 May 1583. However, over the centuries readers have pointed to Shakespeare's sonnets as evidence of his love for a young man. Others read the same passages as the expression of intense friendship rather than sexual love.[181] At the same time, the 26 so- called "Dark Lady" sonnets, addressed to a married woman, are taken as evidence of heterosexual liaisons.[182] Portraiture Main article: Portraits of Shakespeare There is no written description of Shakespeare's physical appearance and no evidence that he ever commissioned a portrait, so the Droeshout engraving, which Ben Jonson approved of as

Comparison. Jan Guillous’ ” Evil”.

hierarchical society based on class and age. The film was made in 2003 and directed by Mikael Håfström. Andreas Wilson plays the leading role of Erik Ponti. It has been named Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design (2004 Swedish Film Awards); Audience Award for Best Feature (2004 Miami International Film Festival). And it was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category in the 2004 Oscars. The plot of the film is basically the same as the books, but in the film, the director has tried to make Erik seem better. In my opinion it was unnecessary because although Erik was more violent in the book, he still made a positive impression. But in the movie some of the most important scenes were left out and the movie lost a lot with that. It seems that the director tried to make Erik seem like a non-violent hero or something like that. At first, when I found out that "Evil" is going to be on TV, I was really exited in seeing it

Countering

Nobody has to suffer. Everybody is free to choose between right and wrong. Well, that depends on whether we really have free will. 7.5 Countering using "after all" "at least" "even so" both for concession and antithesis Why shouldn't they? If they're any good, then surely they'll survive. After all, these songs have been handed down for generations. What if the employers decide to introduce new working practices? After all, things can't remain the same for ever. The films we see on TV don't go that far. At least there's some censorship. But at least it's culture free. With Esperanto as the world language, no country would be accused of exporting both its language and its culture. Well, even so, why should the exact positions of the Sun, Moon and other planets on your date of birth have any connection whatsoever with your personality and the future course of your life?
