the 19th century, also Charles congregation is currently the largest in Estonia by the number of members. It was originally built in the 17th century, during the time of Swedish rule, when king Charles XI commissioned the construction of a church for the Estonian and Finnish population in 1670. At first it was wooden and not very large, built in a Greek cross style. Traditionally, the church was named after the king that built it. In 1710, right before the invasion of the Russian troops and during the Great Northern War, the church was burnt down along with many buildings surrounding the city fortification wall. The destruction led to decreasing of the congregation - some of the members left to join other neighbouring congregations. Discussions about re-establishing the place began around the middle of the 1800s. By the end of 1850s, money was being raised collectivley in order to build a larger and more durable church for the use of Estonians.

Vastseliina were granted a forty-day indulgence. Pope Eugene renewed the indulgence in 1342. There are records of pilgrimages to the chapel in the 15th and 16th centuries. In the first century of its existence the castle was not involved in much military action. Campaigns conducted against the surroundings of Vastseliina did not concern the castle as a rule. The castle was systematically under siege for the first time in 1463 but without any result. The castle surrendered to the Russian forces only in the Livonian War, after a siege of three weeks, on June 30, 1558 and was controlled by them till the end of the war. According to the conditions of the Jam Zapolski peace treaty the castle was surrendered to Poles in 1582. Vastseliina castle repeatedly featured in the wars of the 17th century. During that time, in 1625, it came under the control of Swedes for a longer period. By that time Vastseliina castle had lost most of its former significance.

The author was inspired by the Russian fairytale Snegurotska while writing her debut novel. story takes place in Alaska 1920's and it talks about a couple, Jack and Mabel, who decide to make a snow girl out of snow. The next day the snow girl has become a real human being. Before Jack and Mable were living in Alaska they were living in Pennsylvania. They moved to Alaska to get away from the family, because they had lost their first child. It was hard for Mabel to recover there, because there were children around all the time.

The development of Lake Võrtsjärv and its vicinity, and planned utilisation of Lake Võrtsjärv as a resource, is the common interest of all rural municipalities. The mentioned rural municipalities are located on the territories of three different counties: Rannu and Rõngu - in Tartu County; Puka and Põdrala - in Valga County; Tarvastu, Viiratsi and Kolga-Jaani - in Viljandi County Võrtsjarv is the largest lake within the boundaries of Estonia. Not considering Lake Peipsi on the Russian border, it surpasses all other Estonian lakes together by the surface area. The few islands are mostly located in the southern part of the lake. Tondisaar and Pähksaar are permanent islands while Ainsaar turns into a peninsula during low water, and Heinassaar is flooded in high water periods.
