Learning foreign language - Why is it necessary?

Estonian is very little language and example is quite hard to get god job if you cannot speak some world language. This is very positive that we can learn at least two foreign language in the school. Very important is than we get practice beside school lessons. Some things like watching films and listening music make us understand this language better. In the future I would like to learn french and Swedish but first I should learn to speak Russian and English correctly. If we travel, we anyway communicate with different people and it's easier to make contact than we can speak language very well. And communicating with different people make our world-view larger. If your partner, relatives or friends speak a different language, learning that language will help you to communicate with them. It will also give you a better understanding of their culture and way of thinking....

Ei maksa karta Venemaad - Hansapanga näitel

kohalikes tippülikoolides (nt SSE Russia, Moskva Ülikool jm) või asutada päris oma akadeemia, mis hakkaks vajaminevaid tippspetsialiste täpselt soovitud suunas välja koolitama. Viimast varianti on näiteks päris tihedalt kasutanud Balti riikide IT ettevõtted ning see on osutunud kvalifitseeritud töötajate suhtes üsnagi tulutoovaks. ,,If you do business in Russia, you will lose all your money, because your Russian business partner will steal it from you, because he or she is a thief. Or you will die, because Russian mafia will murder you in the hotel bedroom, when you visit Moscow or St Petersburg".1 Nii kõlab Economist grupi asepresidendi Daniel Thorniley poolt sõnadesse pandud Wall Street Journali avaldus majandustegevusest Venemaal ning see on 98,6% ulatuses vale. Ettevõtlust Venemaal peetakse üheks paremini hoitud ärisaladuseks maailmas ning eelpool näiteks toodud...

Tallinn-topic

Petersburg to Tallinn in 1870. Tallinn grew into a major port and an industrial centre, with huge shipyards. Interest in culture grew and Estonians became conscious of their national identity, dreams of independence gained ground. On 24 February 1918 Estonia was declared an independent country and Tallinn became the capital of the Republic of Estonia. During World War II Estonia was occupied by both German and Russian invaders and Tallinn suffered heavily. The bombing of the city by the Soviet air force on 9 March 1944 left over 20,000 people homeless. During the Russian occupation which followed attempts were made to Russify the local people. Estonia re-established its independence on 20 August 1991. Toompea Toompea is the oldest and the most respectable part of the city. For centuries there was only one means of access to Toompea Pikk Jalg Street. In the middle of the 15th...

Character Reference

I have known Alice for 11 years, both as a friend and as classmates. We first met at elementary school. Since then, I have got to know her very well and have come to appreciate her many talents. Her studies are going brilliantly, she is an excellent student. She knows Russian , Estonian, English and German as well. Alice is very helpful and nice person. She always gives the impression of educated and sensible person at any situation, what she has been ever got. She always finds the right way out of the situation. In fact, I would go as far as to say that she is so energetic person, that your company will need no more workers. Sometimes it seems, that is capable to do thousands doings at the same time. The one her drawback is `hurry sickness`...

Clockwork Orange

But after undoing of the Ludovico treatment he turns back violent for a short time. Eventually Alex is bored of violence and changes into a good society member. WHAT IS THE THEME OF THE BOOK? Author is trying to state that people can be abnormally violent and society is not able to protect it's citizens against those people. AUTHOR'S USE OF LANGUAGE AND STYLE Author makes up some words of slang but some are aloso from Polish or Russian . Author uses few symbols and irony is used very often. YOUR OPINION OF THE BOOK When I first chose this book, I thought that I would be very interested in it, because people, who had read it before, told it was a good and interesting book. I was disappointed, because it wasn't as good as I was told. It was interesting but I couldn't read it more than 30 pages per day. It was a hard book to read, because it was full of violence and author used slang...

inglise keeles Eesti tutvustus: Project: Estonia

Estonia was consolidated under the two forces by 1227. Northern Estonia remained a possession of Denmark until 1346. Tallinn (known as Reval at the time) was given its Lübeck Rights in 1248 and joined the Hanseatic League at the end of the 13th century. In 1343, the people of northern Estonia and Saaremaa rebelled against the rule of the Germans in the St. George's Night Uprising, which was put down by 1344. There were unsuccessful Russian invasions in 1481 and 1558. After 1524, during the Protestant Reformation, Estonia converted to Lutheranism. Estonia regained its independence on August 20, 1991, with the Singing Revolution during the Soviet military coup attempt in Russia and the following collapse of the Soviet Union. The first country to diplomatically recognize Estonia's reclaimed independence was Iceland closely followed by Denmark. The last Russian troops left on August 31,...

"Anna Karenina" kokkuvõte

Levin wrestles with the idea of falseness, wondering how he should go about ridding himself of it, and criticising what he feels is falseness in others. He develops ideas relating to agriculture and the unique relationship between the agricultural labourer and his native land and culture. He believes that the agricultural reforms of Europe will not work in Russia because of the unique culture and personality of the Russian peasant. Stiva stays with Levin on his country estate when he makes a sale of a plot of land, to provide funds for his expensive city lifestyle. Levin is upset at the poor deal he makes with the buyer and his lack of understanding of the rural lifestyle. Levin pays Dolly a visit, and she attempts understand what happened between him and Kitty and to explain Kitty's behaviour to him. Levin is very agitated by...

Cold war

He didn't care for people who didn't meet his expectations of the perfect race. In his eyes all other groups of people like the Russians , Jews and just crazy, crippled or diseased people were worthless and didn't have any other use than for slave work or just killing. b) After the war twenty-four major political and military leaders of Nazi Germany, indicted for aggressive war, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, were brought to trial before the British, French, Russian and American judges. More than 100 additional defendants, representing many sectors of German society, were tried in a series of 12 trials.Twelve prominent Nazis were sentenced to death. Most of the defendants admitted to the crimes of which they were accused, although most claimed that they were simply following the orders of a higher authority. Those individuals directly involved in the killing received the most severe sentences. Other people who played key roles in the...

Pope Eugene renewed the indulgence in 1342. There are records of pilgrimages to the chapel in the 15th and 16th centuries. In the first century of its existence the castle was not involved in much military action. Campaigns conducted against the surroundings of Vastseliina did not concern the castle as a rule. The castle was systematically under siege for the first time in 1463 but without any result. The castle surrendered to the Russian forces only in the Livonian War, after a siege of three weeks, on June 30, 1558 and was controlled by them till the end of the war. According to the conditions of the Jam Zapolski peace treaty the castle was surrendered to Poles in 1582. Vastseliina castle repeatedly featured in the wars of the 17th century. During that time, in 1625, it came under the control of Swedes for a longer period. By that time Vastseliina castle had lost most of its former significance....

English history

Firstly, many nations felt that their sacrifice should be rewarded with independence, for example India. Also, the losses to the Japanese destroyed the myth of the European omnipotence. Secondly, heavily in debt to the United States, the United Kingdom was financially exhausted. This left it almost impossible to defend its wider colonies by force. So the vast markets were opened to American companies and to weaken the UK in general. No empire has been larger or more diverse than the British Empire. At its apogee in the 1930s, 42 million Britons governed 500 million foreign subjects. Britannia ruled the waves, and a quarter of the earth's surface was coloured red on the map. Where Britain's writ did not run directly, its influence, sustained by matchless industrial and commercial sinews, was often paramoun...

Theatres in Estonia

Theatre played an important role in advancing and safeguarding the spirit of Estonians during both the period of last century's national awakening and the oppression of the Soviet regime. After the restoration of Estonia's independence, theatre lost its political significance and became one area of culture amongst many others. Nowadays, theatre has to prove its worth by means of art only. Estonian theatre arts is a mixture of German and Russian theatre. Theatres in Estonia, like elsewhere in the world, may be divided into three categories according to their form of ownership: state, municipal and private theatres. One of the six state theatres in Tallinn is the Russian Drama Theatre. Although its repertoire is Russian, quite a number of Estonian classical plays are staged there. The audiences are mostly people of Russian nationality....

Theater of Tallinn

The town school children, who were Germans, staged Terence's The Andria in Latin. The first theatre house in Tallinn was mentioned in written materials which date from the late 17th century; the house was used by travelling theatre groups. Tallinn was already known then as a theatre-loving city. The first prominent name in Estonian history of theatre, August von Kotzebue, dates from the same period. The Russian authorities sent him from St. Petersburg to Tallinn to work as an official. Kotzebue's entertaining productions became famous all over Europe. He founded the first theatre with its own permanent cast, and brought the Estonian language to the stage. Theatre became especially popular amongst Estonians in the second half of the 19th century, as part of the national awakening process. Theatres in Estonia, like elsewhere in the world, may be divided into three categories...
