Speetch - Eating disorders

We also see many over-weight people. That is another extreme. Over-weight is not good for your heart and its actions. It severely damages your heart work and simultanously causes many heart problems. It also shortens your life, too. When people say the appearance of waif-like models in the media may send a dangerous message about eating disorders, general fitness, fashion magazines and television shows with thin characters also play a key role in infuluencing irregular eating patterns. Wll, I think they're right because people take stars as exaples and want to be like them. The same way people mistakely believe that they're too fat or they're over-weight eventhough it's not true. So all we have to do to have a good, long and exciting life is to keep it !

Eating Disorders

The media shows a great deal of beauty and thinness on television and magazines that are viewed by many people daily. Everyone has the desire to look like the actors and actresses do but, in reality, it just will not happen for most of us. An unfavorable relationship a person has with others is also a contributing factor to disordered eating habits. There really is no single reason that a person acquires an eating disorder. Causes like the ones mentioned above play such an important role in eating disorders. Is it really so important that in order to look like the super models people are willing to give up food and starve themselves to death for a little satisfaction on the outside? The look of a person on the inside is what really matters.

British Literature Character Sketch, The Cement Garden-Julie

After her father’s death and mother’s illness, Julie becomes remote from her siblings, quiet and certain of her authority. Jack shared her thoughts about her as he described her as serious and efficient, and later he says that he suspected she was exploiting the position, that she enjoyed ordering me (Jack) about. To me, Julie seems immature and too young for all the responsibility she has to carry, she was unsure about her actions and she wasn’t ready for her role as the mother. She was constantly tired of little Tom wanting her attention. She may be more responsible than her brother Jack, on the other hand she is less analytical. Julie is often unable to see the consequences of her decisions and actions. For example, actions involving Derek into their lives, which also led to the exposure of their secret. Losing parents definitely had a large role in forming Julies character. As if losing both-father and later mother wasn’t hard enough, they

„Nelson’s management style could have come from a modern textbook“

Summary of ,,Nelson's management style could have come from a modern textbook" By Stephen Howarth Many people think that it is almost impossible to use war leaders of the past as role models for the present. Although leaders and heroes are still needed. Nelson's character and training for the adventure of the Nile still makes him an figure example for everyone. Today even at the hardest boardroom battle almost no-one has to feel the level of responsibility that Nelson had in 1798. He bored responsibilities that are also described in modern books, there he mentioned important themes. Those themes, for example developing teamwork, are still very valuable.

All people in our society have a role. All adults should have jobs. That means that they need to choose a profession. Some professions are more needed in our society than others. Nowadays in Estonia we need mostly newer professions, connected with computers and things like that, bust also some older professions... The most needed profession is builders. The cities grow and new buildings are being razed. When you walk in the streets then you can see everywhere that some buildings are being repaired, or some older ones are being demolished to make space for newer and bigger buildings. Some old houses are being restored like they used to be in the past. In the Centrum new and modish glass buildings are being constructed. That gives the builders and all the people connected with construction and building jobs. And we need more of those people in our society. The second most needed profession is connected with computers. More...

Oliver Twist

Thanks to the language, it took us back in time where the story takes place. It was hard to focus on the play, because of a girl who was sitting in the last row. She was laughing at all times, although the play had only a few humorous lines worth laughing. If you go to a theatre and you find the play boring, sit quietly and have some respect for other people. I really don't like plays where they cut down on the number of actors. Every actor should have only one role, so that they don't get their lines mixed and to really live into their character. Fortunately the performances were rather convincing. Also it is better to watch when the stage is decorated. In this particular show they used only the most neccessary things. It made the stage look amateurish and cheap. If you haven't read the book yet, and if you get the chance, go see it. If nothing else, it still makes you acquainted to the legendary and well-known story of Oliver Twist. The play could

Your pet's life is in your hands and this alone will make you a more responsible person. Shutter island review Shutter island is a movie written by Martin Scorsese. It is a very psychological film in my opinion and you can not take your eyes of the screen for a minute, because then you will lose track. I think Leonardo is very good in this role and these kinds of movies suit him. I did not like the movie so much because there is a lot of talking and little action in my opinion. Some of the parts were very well executed, for example the part where Teddy realises he is a patient in the hospital. The movie was good becasue you could not tell what was going to happen and the ending was unexpected, that is what is diffrent from other movies. I have once seen this

The industrial revolution

industrial and urban. By mid-century, many people worked for small businesses or on farms, laboring in fields that would yield barely enough food to feed the family. New inventions and technology began to change that, however. Larger factories opened and produced new farm equipment, such as the steel plow and the tractor, which allowed farmers to cultivate bigger fields and produce more food that cost much less. Developments in the iron industry also played a central role in the Industrial Revolution. In the early 18th century, Englishman Abraham Darby (1678-1717) discovered a cheaper, easier method to produce cast iron, using a coke-fueled (as opposed to charcoal-fired) furnace. In the 1850s, British engineer Henry Bessemer (1813-1898) developed the first inexpensive process for mass-producing steel. Both iron and steel became essential materials, used to make everything from appliances, tools and machines, to ships, buildings and infrastructure.

First, there must be no danger of losing basic form or orientation, of never coming out. The surprise must occur in an overall framework; the confusions must be small regions in a visible whole. Furthermore, the labyrinth or mystery must in itself have some form that can be explored and in time be apprehended. Complete chaos without hint of connection is never pleasurable. But these second thoughts point to an important qualification. The observer himself should play an active role in perceiving the world and have a creative part in developing his image. He should have the power to change that image to fit changing needs. An environment which is ordered in precise and final detail may inhibit new patterns of activity. Although this may not seem to be a critical issue in our present urban chaos, yet it indicates that what we seek is not a final but an open-ended order, capable of continuous further development. This development has resulted in political, social and religious conflicts, as well as evolving governmental and constitutional institutions. The early political history of the British Isles is the story of four independent countries (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland), but a dominant English political and military expansionism over the century. Near the end of the Middle Ages, the role of government in England underwent many changes. From the Magna Carta to the creation of the English Parliament, England laid the foundation for representative government and regulated sovereignty. The Magna Carta clearly defined the ancient rights and privileges of the people 1. It established the principle that the king no longer had absolute control, and prevented English rulers from taking advantage of their subjects. Later, England would institute a Parliament to allow

Rowan Atkinson

Using this experience, Atkinson continued to work in television with Curtis, with whom he created the comedy series, Blackadder, in 1983. Playing a variety of Blackadder characters throughout England's history, the show became a favorite among the British and American audiences alike. Billed as a "situation tragedy" on the BBC, it ran three seasons and later spawned a couple of specials. Atkinson made his major feature film bow with a small, yet comical role in the James Bond thriller, Never Say Never Again. In the late '80s he starred in a few films penned by Curtis. It was while they were filming The Tall Guy that Atkinson and Curtis created Mr. Bean, an average British Joe with a clumsy nature and a nasty streak and launched a series. With virtually no dialogue, the comedy and its star became famous worldwide. Running for six years, Mr. Bean developed a cult following and by the late '90s had spawned a feature film.

Essay: Christmases in Estonia

autumn celebrations. Christmas Eve and Christmas Night were the most sacred times of the season. Nowadays, Christmases are simply considered to be a holiday to spend time with family and friends. Estonia has assimilated most of the traditions which were not relative to Estonia's culture in the old times. Nevertheless, our tradition is to give gifts to each other but for example in America, Santa Claus brings his gifts by coming through the chimney. As a rule, food plays a big role in Estonia's Christmas table. Traditional Christmas meal consists of pork with sauerkraut and potatoes, white and blood sausage with cowberry jam. As a matter of fact that Estonians are fond of drinking, vodka and glogg will also be there next to the traditional food. To conclude, most of the Estonians find Christmas to be one of the greatest times of the year. We, Estonians love to say in the end of this time of year that now we have to wait for St. John's Day due to the fact

The school year should last from 1st September to 22 June There is no doubt that the school has a big role in our lives. It teatches us how to cope with our life. But what are the pros and cons, if the school would last longer? Firstly, if the government wants to shorten our summer break, then we would not have enough time to rest or visit our relatives. And when the school starts again in the autumn, then many of us would have no motivation to learn. And because of that, our grades starts to deteriorate.

A Movie Review of Moliere

The main character, the poor playwright Moliere has the honour of writing a comedy about his tragic life and lost yet true love, and his feelings, so similar to those of the viewers, reach everybody through the detailed story. It can be said that the new, 2007 "Moliere" was composed by a genuine author with the same principles of life as of the 17 th century Moliere. To sum up, it can be said without hesitation that the movie included great work from the actors, the main role played by Romain Duris, and wonderful work from the director Laurent Tirard, a talented man who has written many masterpieces himself. If there is a movie that is definitely worth seeing, then "Moliere" is the one. Reet Kuznetsova, 11b

What methods should parents and governments use to tackle obesity in schoolchildren?

Thanks to modern day society it does not seem like the rates are going down themselves any time soon. What could government and/or parents do to make youngsters lifestyle healthier? One approach that parents should consider is to influence their children to part-take in a heathy lifestyle. It is probably true to say that kids who are used to eating junk food and low physical activity are more likely to become overweight sooner or later. By changing living habits and stepping up as good role models parents should adapt food that is beneficial and doing sports into normal everyday life. If this is what kids are used to doing in a young age the more likely they will use the same technique when raising their own children in the future. An alternative approach that is definitely not less important- providing schoolkids many interesting and unusual workouts such as archery and rowing so every child can chose his/ her passion, something that keeps them exited and as a big bonus- fit

Argumentative Essay

Royal Family. The British Empire did conquer many places but they did not do it just to help the people. They did it to get the resources and workers for the least amount of money. The ,,helping" was just a smokescreen. Australia for example was nothing more than a dumping ground for criminals, thieves - the unwanted. Some part of those ,,flag bearers" still hold a grudge for it. The current monarchy has changed into constitutional monarchy. The role of the queen or the king is to represent the nation; actual ruling of the nation is in the hands of the parliament. It is such an old tradition and a national symbol that it should continue on.

Looks - how important

What if look would not be important? I do not even have to generate theories. I know people, who do not think about necessity of taking care of their look. I can see them every day. Somehow they do not aware their problem. How can anyone ever feel comfortable with dirty clothes, untidy skin and fetid body? This secret remains to be under disgusting cover. In conclusion I would say that look is really important! No matter what is being achieved, look has a solid role in result! Of course if people did not care of the way they look, some doors would be closed, but life still would worth living!
