The Catcher in the Rye

He tells her his fantasy of being "the catcher in the rye," a person who catches little children as they are about to fall off of a cliff when playing on a rice field on the edge of a cliff. Next day Holden calls his former English teacher, Mr. Antolini, who tells Holden he can come to his apartment. The teacher asks Holden what does he want from his life and tries to give good advice to the boy. In the evening Holden returns to see Phoebe and takes her to a amusing park. Watching his sister riding on a carousel laughing brings out Holdens tears, and almost causes him a nervous breakdown. The story ends with Holden talking to a psychiatrist, who tries to ,,open him up". Although, critics have chewed on it for a long time, it was an interesting book, writen in a colloquial style, which really fits for younger people to read. Thatswhy I would reccomend ,,The Catcher in the Rye" to people my age....

Summary of philosophy of right (õiguse filosoofia kokkuvõte)

The basis of individual rights lies in property. Property is not merely material acquisition--it is central to an individual's assertion of identity and personality. Property is an expression of self and the locus of an individual's claim to rights, since it is through property that one can say "this is mine," a claim that others respect. In the first section, Abstract Right, Hegel returns to a theme of earlier writings in which he wrestles with the fairly common belief in "natural rights" that are present in the various "social contract" theories of, for example, John Locke, where social or political order is said to derive its legitimacy from its ability to uphold and protect the rights of autonomous, sovereign individuals. For Locke and others, the social is merely the outcome of a contract between autonomous individuals to respect each other's rights...

Essee fast food

More people should know about fast food. Fast food has less advantages. The most evident advantage of fast food is that it saves time. In today's fast life, there is nothing better than getting a ready meal. No matter how much the chefs praise the benefits of fresh food, at the end of a hard working day, when one returns home all tired and hungry, a pizza or a burger can be godsend. Besides the time an individual has to spend in the kitchen, cooking a meal also requires one to make a trip to the supermarket to buy the ingredients for the food. Fast food has very many disadvantages. The greatest disadvantage of fast food is the adverse effect. It is a fact that fast food is more unhealthy than homecooked meals, as they contain higher amounts of salt, fats and calories...

Tundra

But because of the short, cool summer and freezing winter temperatures, plants can't decompose. Remains of plants thousands of years old have been found in the tundra permafrost. In this way the tundra traps the carbon dioxide and removes it from the atmosphere. Today global warming is melting the permafrost of the tundra and every year several feet of tundra are lost. As the tundra melts, the plant mass decomposes and returns carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. The tundra is a very fragile and difficult environment to survive in during the winter, and plants and animals have a hard time coping with any extra disturbances. The smallest stresses can bring about their destruction. More people moving to the tundra to work in the mines and oil rigs have created towns and more roads. These obstacles have disrupted some animal's movements to traditional feeding and denning grounds....

Kirjelda mastaabiefekti erinevust mastaabisäästu ja mitmekülgsussäästu puhul (increasing returns to scale vs economies of scope). Majandustegevused on väga erinevad.
