The author has chosen this topic because the legends of Our Lady icon gave rise to great curiosity. The aim of the paper was to find out where the nunnery got its former name of Pühtitsa, and how it is related to the discovery of the icon of the Mother of God. The paper has 9 chapters. In the first chapter the author introduces the only operating Orthodox nunnery in Estonia. The second chapter presents the origins of the name Pühtitsa.
