The themes dealt with in a book are simply not relevant.

from even earlier. Those books are mainly discussing love, wars and relations having one but those books don't talk about everything. They have their confines and mainly concentrate on descriptions and less on the story. But young people want their own picture from the book, they don't need every detail described. When we think more about the themes disussed in obligatory books, then they are also hold in check. Here is the second problem, youngsters can't relate to those topics. For example, they are only describing a feeling, like love, but don't give a real situation, so that the reader can feel as a part of the story. A princess story isn't a real one. So I don't think that the themes discussed in obligatiry books are irrelevant. But what about books of this centuary? They describe also every detail but from a real aspect. They don't have fairytails, because that doesen't sell. And maybe it is right. You can

"The Canterbury Tales": · He planned to write 120 tales but managed only 20. · They travel one April from an inn in a London fifty miles to the cathedral city of Canterbury to visit the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket. · The pilgrims can be divided into three groups: the feudal group, the church group and the city group. · It has been thought that Chaucer went on a pilgrimage himself. · The tales are connected by links that relate what happened among the pilgrims travelling together. · The Ellesmere manuscript of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales is an early 15th century manuscript of the Canterbury Tales.

place or wants to talk with you. You need to learn English when you want to go to some other country to study. It is usual that there are Universities in different countries in the world where is possible to learn in English. I don't know if there is any other university outside Estonia where you can learn in Estonian. You need to learn English when you would like to find new friends outside of Estonia. Today a lot of young people are speaking English and there are good opportunities to relate with people trough like MSN, Skype and Facebook. When you speak English well it is easier to find a job because a lot of professions need language skills or to go to work to some other country. Abroad are better possibilities to find job you like.

Having children while young

Having children while young Some people say that having childern while young is the best time of your life. However, being a child has both advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side, you will still remember what's like to be a kid. Sure you will remember that in your 30s and 40s, but the more younger you are the more likely you are able to truly understand and relate to your child. All in all It's difficult to be sympathetic to someones problems when you dont know what they are going throught. However, for every plus side there is a minus. For one thing, you have to spend all day with your kid and can't go out when ever you want to. Sometimes when you are getting a child while you are still studying in a school you have to drop out of scool and go to work. But that means you cant acquire better knowledge , that can help you get a better job in the future.

SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING GUIDELINES

Both measures reflect important, but distinct, aspects of sustainability. Absolute figures provide a sense of scale or magnitude of the use or impact, which allows the user to consider performance in the context of larger systems. In reporting on environmental indicators, reporting organisations are also encouraged to keep in mind the principle of sustainability context. With respect to the environmental measures in the report, organisations are encouraged to relate their individual performance to the broader ecological systems within which they operate. 9 3) Social Performance Indicators The social dimension of sustainability concerns an organisation’s impacts on the social systems within which it operates. Social performance can be gauged through an analysis of the organisation’s impacts on stakeholders at the local, national, and global levels. In some

The Godfather

The Godfather trilogy to this day is considered the best trilogy of its times. The saga carefully and intimately inspects the ups and downs and psychology of the Corleone family and the fears and insecurities that each character possesses and how they compel them to behave in the way they do. The movie was not only popular for its artwork, but also for its close relation to real life. There were many nuances at a primal level that most of us could relate to. Not only do we see glimpses of personal life but we also see how the Corleone mafia worked as an organization. The workings of the mafia closely endorse some of the age-old motivation theories. The Godfather is the story of a Mafia family. It follows the rise of Michael Corleone within the family. Michael was once a war hero and did not want to be involved in the family business. When his father is shot though, Michael takes revenge on the people who did it and

Minu arutlev lõik Mati Undi teose “Hüvasti, kollane kass” miljööst ja muud säärast Mati Undi teose “Hüvasti, kollane kass” miljöö on vägagi koolilik, sest kogu tegevus koosneb iseseisva elu lävel seisva nooruki minajutustustest. His writing style was florid and poetic, with a strong comic touch. He satired of British aristocratic snobbery Dickens is famed for many things--his depiction of the hardships of the working class, his intricate plots, his sense of humour. But he is perhaps most famed for the characters he created. His novels were heralded early in his career for their ability to capture the everyday man on paper and thus create a memorable character to whom readers could relate, and envision as a real person. BLEAK HOUSE (1853) belongs to Dickens's greatest works of social criticism. The novel is built around a lawsuit, the classic case of Jarndyce, which affects all who come into contact with it. Another novel of Charles Dickens is Oliver Twist, written in 1837-39. Oliver Twist is the first novel in the English language to centre throughout on a child protagoni and is also notable for Dickens's unromantic portrayal of criminals and their sordid lives.

themselves. There are extremely few people who care about homeless people even though homelessness has greatly increased over the past decade. But why is that so? Are they worse than us? As Mike Yakonski once said: “Sometimes it's easy to walk by because we know we can't change someone's whole life in a single afternoon. But what we fail to realize it that simple kindness can go a long way toward encouraging someone who is stuck in a desolate place.” I can relate to that fairly well because everyday i see homeless people and it makes me extremely sad. When i got a spare change with me i always give it to the ones that need it the most, because i think it is the only thing at the moment that i can do for homeless people. The reasons people lose their home are mostly addictions, losing their job, expelled from school or even family problems. If they have already lost everything, most of the people start

The Catcher in the Rye - kokkuvõte

The Catcher in the Rye Despite being written in the beginning of the 1950s, for me “The Catcher in the Rye” is a novel that many youngsters to this day can relate to. The book tells the story of a troubled teenager Holden Caulfield, who sets off on a short trip to New York, after being expelled from yet another private school, to avoid facing his parents. His dark and at times depressive thoughts and emotions have been mixed with humour and brutal reality, making this book stirring to read. The novel is a fantastic example of the coming of age genre, thanks to its various themes of

You can still live life at your fullest and by that maybe see your other sides, not bad sides but good. We all have to find ourselfs some time. The main character finds love and kindness, finds enjoy and happiness (he did not smiled often, as usually people used to). He finds friend who he can relate to. Book have much budism thought and tells you, if all does not go well, then do not give up. I recommend this book to anyone, this book can motivate people and can help them at their darkest times I hope. Review "THE CATCHER IN THE RYE"

D. Salinger Book is read. I'm very pleased to report that I joined the group of people who have already read "The catcher in the rye". Many people have mentioned this story in some conversations and lots of quotes in Internet contain "J.D.Salinder" in the end of it, therefore I was really excited when we decided to read this book as a part of our English lesson course. It was very good way for English skills practice and also self- liberalizing. I think many teenagers would be able to relate the book to the actual themes - it's a modern classic of today. Every teeneager has had once felt himself sort of depressed and upset. It is absolutely normal state for identity formation. We mature, we become adults, we revise our values and are feeling really unusual sometimes. Lots of times I have caught myself thinking that I'd already felt something like this before... Lots of moments in this book were really similar to some periods of my life

Essay on Iron Man

In Iron Man Tony confessed to his personal assistant Pepper Potts that she was all he had. At the conclusion of the movie Iron Man 2, the stage was set for the beginning of Tony and Pepper's relationship. Stark was also frequently helped by his friend James Rhodes who seemed to be really close to him. Even though it was hard to see, Tony Stark really appreciated his friends. A superhero is special because of his extraordinary powers, but typically still has personal problems all of us can relate to. Iron Man is a good example; he clearly has his strengths, weaknesses and something he values in life. He is unique but still matches the definition of a superhero. sources: http://articles.washingtonpost.com/2008-05-02/news/36833035_1_iron-man-tony-stark- obadiah-stane http://www.comicvine.com/iron-man/4005-1455/ http://www.the-spearhead.com/2010/05/10/iron-man-2-a-brief-interpretive-analysis/ http://daniellebowers.wordpress.com/2011/07/03/character-relationship-analysis-tony-stark-

WHAT IS A LOAN AGREEMENT?

WHAT IS A LOAN AGREEMENT? WHAT IS A LOAN AGREEMENT? The loan agreement is a contract entered into between the lender and borrower which regulates the terms of a loan. Loan agreements usually relate to loans of cash, but market specific contracts are also used to regulate securities lending. When an enterprise is in the process of starting or expanding, it will definitely require additional funding or capital. These finances can be acquired from financial institutions like banks or a third party willing to loan the money to the business. Exposing the Human Condition in Antigone

marked out, and if she had allowed the gods to correct matters she would not have needed to confront the king. Her unfaithfulness toward the gods was very non-heroic. In modern society, we today act in the same manner as Antigone did toward her family. Our loyalties toward family members tend to be strong, but even so, we may take our anger out on the people we love. In all heroic tales we usually can see ourselves in the situations of the heroic and non-heroic aspects of characters and relate to them wholeheartedly. It seems that the writers of old had a good grasp of the human condition, and it seems that their main goal was to make us realize who we really are.

Bella has a bad dream in which Rosalie is fighting Billy Black in his wolf form and sees the Third Wife's knife in her own hand. She wakes to find Edward reading Wuthering Heights, a novel he previously claimed to dislike. As he lulls her back to sleep, he tells her that she is awakening human emotions in him, and that he can now relate to Heathcliff as he couldn't before. The next morning, Bella remembers what Edward said, and finds her book open to Heathcliff's declaration that he could never hurt Catherine by killing her husband, though he longs to do so. She talks herself into discounting the passage as being indicative of the change in Edward's feelings.

Computers - indispensable part of our life

on our lives. Chat rooms allow us to connect with like minded people and discuss with them about our favourite topics. Messengers also allow us to connect to your friends across the world and talk to them. We use computers to talk and chat with people all over the world. Often we lose our sence of time for this and don't even accept the fact that it is not useful for us. It has been reported that programmers after a long time of working with computers began to relate to others in the same way than they did to their computer. They begin to loose relational skills especially the ability to synchronize with group behavior or other human to human relatioships. The fact that programmers use computers more than us, doesn't change the fact that it could affect us the same. Although it is good to talk to people using computers, one should always prefer communicating people in real-life.

THE VALUE OF THINGS VS THE PRICE OF THINGS

some things that are not buyable. Everyone want a person, that loves us, by our side. Money can not buy ourselves friends or lovers. Of course it is wrong in some ways, because if you are rich, people want to be your friends for your money, but to be honest, these are not people to trust. Every one needs belongings that money can not buy. There are many kinds of values, like personal, family, material, spiritual and moral. Personal values we build to live our life right and guide us to relate with other people. Personal values are related to family values, because we depend on our families. Family values are good or bad, which depends on parents, because they teach how to behave outside the home. Material values are things that allow us to survive, these are the basic needs, like food, clothes and protection from the environment. Spiritual values are the importance we give to non-material aspects in our lives. These are the parts of our needs and makes ust o feel fulfilled

English literatutre - Authors, history

· The wide range of subjects from which the poet draws his imagery. Metaphysical poets used, for example, the areas of science, travel, medicine, alchemy and philosophy to create original imagery. This is in stark contrast with much of Elizabethan poetry which used the stock imagery of the period (birds, flowers, sun, moon, stars); · The use of wit: wit in the 17th c. referred to the ability to relate dissimilar ideas, and implied intellectual genius. The Metaphysical poets displayed this form of genius in the use of paradoxes, conceits and puns. Thus, Donne's work was characterised by the use of paradoxes, conceits, epigrams and puns, i.e. striking images that associate dissimilar ideas. Much of the poetry written in the period in which he lived was musical, ornate and respectful: he rejected these standards and wrote poems which were original, striking and irreverent.

Phonetics Glossary Homework

Spanish ir. In English it usually is the full infinitive (to go) although alphabetized without 'to' (go); the present tense is used for some defective verbs (shall, can, and must have only the one form). In Latin, Ancient Greek, and Modern Greek (which has no infinitive), however, the first person singular present tense is normally used, though occasionally the infinitive may also be seen. The pronunciation form in a dictionary will usually relate to the citation form of the word in question. This may differ in various respects from the forms to be expected in connected speech, sometimes referred to as phonotypical forms. Wells, J.C. 1999. Phonetic transcription and analysis. Kriitika "Twilightile"

So what do I think, why so many people love ''Twilight''? Since Meyer left one important detail the main character's personality unwritten and pretty much up for interpretation, absolutely anyone can imagine themselves into Bella's place. And apparently, that is precisely what they do what I did. Which makes the imagination even easier, is that there are a few hints on certain traits such as clumsiness that asbolutely every single human being can relate to, and for the first time in their lives, while reading ''Twilight'', they are encouraged to feel special about it they are encouraged to feel as if they might as well be the next love itnerest of a steamingly attractive vampire. To me, Bella really seems to be an incredibly unfortunate creature. She doesn't seem able to be happy about anything, doesn't have any hobbies or real friends, because apparently their

It not a big issue in creating this character but it reduces the respect we should have to it. The reason we do not learn anything from the hero lies with our need to identify ourselves with a character. The story would not be interesting if there were nobody we can relate to. The adventure our hero takes is the same we go through while reading a book or watching a film. So when the main character learns, we learn, while he suffers, we suffer and when he has a happy ending, we are also happy. The teacher our icon meets is also the teacher for us. It is also dominated by scientists with doctoral degrees. Given the history of ONR and the long tenure of some of its senior personnel, this environment is what one might expect, and this kind of work force has served ONR well for many years. It may not be serving ONR's current needs as well, however. A number of scientists and engineers do not relate to the prevailing management style and perceive that they have a difficult time at ONR. They clearly like their work, but they do not see the opportunities for advancement and support that allow them to use their full capacities. This may have a negative impact on ONR's ability to recruit high quality people. Some of the differences in perceptions between men and women are striking. The moving Finger has successfully been adapted for television, firstly in 1985 and the latest film in 2006, starring James D'Arcy as Jerry, Talulah Riley as Megan and Emilia Fox as Joanna, as seen on previous pictures. My opinion: I enjoyed reading it, though I found it difficult to follow all the characters, they got mixed up a lot. But they were believable and the reader can relate to each one. I didn't like the stalling before the exciting parts, which were the murders and the revealing of the murderer. I often got bored and wanted to find another book to read but after finishing it I understood it was necessary in order to paint a clear image for the reader of all the different personalities and their behaviour. Because of the misunderstanding of the characters the ending took me by surprise. I didn't see a

Since the objectives are often pecuniary, it is often necessary to relate the decisions about the physical units of inputs and outputs to the costs of production. · If the prices of the inputs and the production relationships are known (or understood), it is possible to calculate or estimate all the cost relationships for each level of output.

observable components. Different AES systems evaluate different numbers of these components. Page and Peterson (1995) referred to these elements as "proxes" or approximations for underlying "trins" (i.e., intrinsic characteristics) of writing. It is the observable components that automated essay scoring engines, identify, computationally, and subsequently use to compute essay scores. AES statistical models are developed by weighting the various observable components as they relate to intrinsic characteristics of writing. For example, a model in the PEG system, might be formed by taking five intrinsic characteristics of writing (content, creativity, style, mechanics, and organization) and linking proxes. An example of a simple prox is essay length. The empirical evidence suggests that the longer an essay is, the more highly valued it is by a rater. This could be because the writer provides additional details which improves the essay's standing in the eyes of the grader

Kuidas kirjutada esseed

Keep in mind that you should never summarize your essay in your conclusion; try to introduce a new idea in the conclusion an idea that will leave your readers thinking. How to decide what to write in the conclusion? 5 Connect your thesis statement with the body of your essay, then go ahead and describe how this turn of events or whatever you have written about relates to you being an ideal applicant, and how does it relate to your decision to apply for college admission. It is a good idea to use rhetorical devices in the conclusion as long as it's not very overdone. The main point is to connect your changes to your current plans. Types of essays: You can write three types of essays. Jacques Louis David ja Prantsuse Revolutsioon

She found the painting to be disgraceful and destroyed it, with all existing copies and sketches. (Roberts, 1989, p.75, 76) Furthermore, in the context of the Revolution, the painting with a long sword displayed above Le Peletier brings forth the idea of killing the tyrant. With The death of Le Peletier David has the power to control the attitudes towards the death of the king and Le Peletier. (Vaughan,????????????????) By creating a martyr of Le Peletier, people found it easier to relate to the events and political actions that occurred at that time. The second martyr and the most famous among the three was Jean-Paul Marat. Marat was a member of the Jacobin club, publisher of the newspaper called L'ami du Peuple and one of the main prompters of the carnage of 1792. He was assassinated in 1793 by a supporter of the Girondists, Charlotte Corday, who stabbed him in the chest while Marat was taking a bath.

Summary of philosophy of right (õiguse filosoofia kokkuvõte)

in which all individuals are embedded. Ethical life is present in the three important levels of social life. In its most elementary form, it is present in the family and finds expression in basic emotions such as love and altruism. In civil society, a sphere of social interaction corresponds to economic life or the "system of needs." Civil society engages individuals as bearers of Abstract Rights, as owners of property and bearers of legal rights. In civil society, individuals relate to one another in universal terms. While private property as the basis of abstract right and morality is a positive force in promoting individual freedom, individualistic material interests, such as the pursuit of economic gain, could potentially destabilize society. When left unchecked, these destabilizing forces tend to polarize humanity into rich and poor. The individualism of private material acquisition also weakens the

Law-makers breaking the law: torture as a justified interrogation technique?

and legislators. And now his theory of is the one that is known for justifying torture (Verplaetse, 2008). Since 9/11 and the following fight against terrorism it became clear that the Bush administration thought of torture as something justifiable while it goes against all possible agreed upon treaties and conventions. One could indeed possibly think of situations that could serve as an exception to the prohibition of torture but these hypothetical situations can hardly relate to real situations. The ticking bomb argument looks at the hypothetical case where a leader of a state is asked to give their permission to torture a captured rebel leader because he (probably) knows the locations of a few explosives that are spread around the city in different apartment buildings. In case they are not found within 24 hours, they will explode and many will be left dead (Walzer, 1973). Is it justified to torture this person to find out where the bomb is?

Stop violence in home Domestic violence is one of the most common human rights abuses, affecting millions of women and children around the world. The Body Shop has been tackling the issue of domestic violence for over a decade. Our first campaign was launched in Canada, and is now running in 26 countries. But why has The Body Shop been working on this issue and how does it relate to the toiletries and cosmetics business? At The Body Shop, women represent the vast majority of both employees and customers our two most important stakeholder groups. It has therefore been natural for us to direct our attention and support to women's rights through our various campaigns. In 1997, the `Love Your Body' campaign, featuring a round, redheaded doll named Ruby, celebrated the diversity of women. The `Love Your Body' slogan has remained with us, along with a commitment to honesty
