Anthropology and Tourism

Therefore, the first problem for tourism while dealing with female solo travellers would be lack of space and place for female tourists, especially in male dominated countries, for instance, like Egypt. To provide these specific criteria’s would be easy only in the one half of the world, where the other half would be abusing female presence. In Egypt, females (locals and travellers) are abused verbally as well as physically (The New York Times, 2013). The reason for that is behind culture norms, many female travellers have written countless blogs about how they felt harassed while their trip in Egypt. How they tried to be polite and follow local customs, but they were still followed at the streets by Egyptian men (Young adventuress, 2012). Local women need permissions/escorts for even walking in the streets (The New York Times, 2013). In western world, female tourists can be as free as they want to be.

effective against pro-Communist Viet Minh and Viet Cong forces. Regarding Ngo Dinh Diem, the Roman Catholic President of South Vietnam, as insufficiently anti-Communist, the U.S. gave secret assurances of non-interference for an impending coup d'état. On November 1, 1963, South Vietnamese generals overthrew the Diem government, arresting and soon killing Diem (though the circumstances of his death were obfuscated). Kennedy sanctioned Diem's overthrow. One reason to support the coup was a fear that Diem might negotiate a neutralist coalition government which included Communists, as had occurred in Laos in 1962. Dean Rusk, Secretary of State, remarked "This kind of neutralism...is tantamount to surrender.During his time in office, Kennedy increased the number of U.S. military in Vietnam from 800 to 16,300. It remains a point of some controversy among historians whether or not Vietnam would have escalated to the

American Literature Portfolio

Of Plymouth Plantation is the single most complete authority for the story of the Pilgrims and the early years of the Colony they founded. Written between 1620 and 1647, the journal describes the story of the Pilgrims from 1608, when they settled in the Netherlands, through the 1620 Mayflower voyage, until the year 1647. The book ends with a list, written in 1650, of Mayflower passengers and what happened to them. The Age of Reason The Age of Reason: Being an Investigation of True and Fabulous Theology , a deistic treatise written by eighteenth-century British radical and American revolutionary Thomas Paine, critiques institutionalized religion and challenges the inerrancy of the Bible. Published in three parts in 1794, 1795, and 1807, it was a bestseller in America, where it caused a short- lived deistic revival. Bullying

Some bullies do it to get attention or to make other people afraid of them. Others might be jealous of the person they are bullying. It makes bully feel, stronger, smarter, or better than the person he or she is bullying. Some people think that it's one of the best ways to keep others from bullying himself. What is even worse, some bullies may not even understand how wrong their behaviour is and how it makes the person being bullied feel. Some young people are bullied for no particular reason, but sometimes it's because they are different in some way. It could be the colour of their skin, their financial condition, the clothes they wear or even their name. Some people think bullying is just part of growing up and a way for young people to learn to stick up for themselves. But bullying can make young people feel lonely, unhappy and frightened. Young people who bully are more likely than those who don't bully to skip school and drop out of school

does not contaminate the atmosphere as much, but I don't think it overweighs all the sick and dead people when an accident happens. Nuclear wastes last forever and the radiation is bad for us. The amount of radiation balances out the smaller amount of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. I also feel that it might cause a lot of trouble between countries and their need for power in the future. Nuclear power might be the reason for the next World War. I hope that nuclear power won't grow much and that people understand different aspects of nuclear energy before they make a decision. References: 1. Buzz, P. (2009, February 23). She was plump and pretty. Drunkards, she used to urge to join her at the church, called her the Jesus Belle. She was loved by men and attracted attention, many of drunkards stopped in the street when Jeanette’s mother walked past and raised their hats to her. She was very religious person. Louie considered church as her family more than her own family. “My mother stood up and said she believed this was right: that women had specific circumstances for their ministry, that the Sunday School was one of them, the Sisterhood another, but the message belonged to the men.” She believed that praying could solve all the problems and people like her were meant to be separated fr...

Jane Eyre

Jane traveled to Rochester’s new residence, Ferndean, where he lived with two servants named John and Mary. At Ferndean Jane and Rochester got to together once again. At the end of the story Jane and Rochester married and had their first son. Rochester also regained sight in one eye. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was always interesting and exiting. I think that the most exiting part of the book was, when Jane heard that Rochester had wife, who was greasy and the reason of the fire in Rochester’s room. I liked that it wasn’t just a blame love story, it was pretty different from the others. I also liked the century of the story when there were no phones and texting, when people still had to write to their loved ones.

A Disaster in Mellowtown

A Disaster in Mellowtown Hello! This is Kairi from WLAG radio reporting you about an accident that happened with a truck carrying chickens. The accident took place in Mellowtown, at the intersection of Main Street and Broadway about 12.30. A chicken farmer was driving his chickens to a market, when by unknown reason he made an accident. Tom Phillips, the chicken farmer, said that he was driving slowly and carefully as always, but suddenly the truck started to make strange noise and he could not control it any more. Then he crashed. As a result the crates, where the chickens were held, went to pieces and chickens broke free. At the moment there is a real chaos in the middle on Mellowtown, chickens everywhere and pieces of the crates also. And

Illegal Immigration in America - essee

A more convincing argument would be the rise in criminal activity caused by illegal immigrants. For example more than 60 percent of the Hispanic gangs in Southern California are made up of illegal immigrants. These gangs are involved with drug-distribution systems, murders and robberies. Another issue caused by illegal aliens is the cost for taxpayers. It has been estimated that the average immigrant without a high-school degree will cost the U.S taxpayer about $100,000. A major reason for all of these problems is that 60 percent of illegal immigrants haven’t finished high school. What can be done to fix the problem? It wouldn’t seem reasonable to just send every immigrant back to their home country. A better solution would be to punish companies who take advantage of the cheap labor provided by illegal immigrants and stop them from paying the immigrants under the table. This would mean that if a person wanted to find work, he or she would have to be documented

Health

Many thousands of men and women, who work in the medical profession, spend their lives taking care of the sick. When disaster strikes, hospital workers give emergency aid to the injured. Medical care consists of three main elements: the diagnosis of disease, the treatment of disease; and the promotion of health and prevention of disease. 7. Doctors Doctors have detailed knowledge of the human body and are specially trained in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. For this reason, they take the responsibility for making all major decisions regarding the care of patients. Doctors can be divided into two main groups: general practitioners and specialists. GPs provide care for every member of the family, regardless of age. Other doctors specialize in a particular field of medicine. Neurologists, for example, specialize in disorders of the nervous system, psychiatrists treat mental illnesses, oncologists specialize in treatment of tumours in the body etc.

Irish Christmas

After the Christmas evening meal, bread and milk are left out and the door unlatched as a symbol of hospitality. St Stephen's Day, the day after Christmas, is almost as important, with football matches and meetings going on. For children, the Wren Boys Procession is their big event. Boys go from door to door with a fake wren on a stick, singing, with violins, accordions, harmonicas and horns to accompany them. The reason for the ceremony is to ask for money 'for the starving wren', that is, for their own pockets. Children often put out Christmas sacks instead of stockings. It is tradition to leave mince pies and a bottle of Guinness out as a snack for Santa. "Nollaig Shona Dhuit" (NoLik Suna Ditch) means "Merry Christmas" in Irish Gaelic. "Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat. Please put a penny in the old man's hat. If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do

Caffeine

This 20 reduces the ability of adenosine to bind to the receptors, which would slow down cellular 21 activity. The stimulated nerve cells release the hormone epinephrine (adrenaline), which 22 increases heart rate, blood pressure, and blood flow to muscles, decreases blood flow to the skin 23 and organs, and causes the liver to release glucose. Caffeine also increases levels of the 24 neurotransmitter dopamine. 25 Part of the reason caffeine is classified by the Food and Drug Administration as generally 26 recognized as safe is that toxic doses (over 1000 mg for an average adult) are much higher than 27 typically used doses. Ordinary consumption has low health risks, even when carried on for 28 years there may be a modest protective effect against some diseases, including Parkinson's 29 disease, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. ABOUT SERIAL KILLERS

One thing that is not consistent is motive. The most common motives are theft, revenge, and sex, but the range within those motives is vast. CONCLUSION Serial killing is surprisingly common, and unsurprisingly disturbing. Popular media 2 has sensationalized and glorified the killers themselves, giving them yet another motive: fame. One of the reasons I didn't go into depth or detail about all of the various serial killers is for this reason - to keep your eyes on how horrible and tragic it is. We shouldn't romanticize serial killers, or their victims. It might be better if we forgot the name of Gilles de Rais or Adam Lanza. Thank you for your attention. WORKS CITIED 1. "Serial." Drugs and how they affect your health.

the United States is a result of smoking tobacco, making tobacco more lethal than all other addictive drugs combined Nervous or Depressed? Scientists are learning how tobacco and nicotine affect teen smokers. Studies going on for 25 years show a link between heavy teen smoking and fear of going outside (agoraphobia). Teens who smoke were 6 times more likely to get agoraphobia. And, teen smokers were 15 times more likely to have panic attacks than teens who did not smoke. Scientists think the reason is that nicotine hurts blood vessels to the brain, and also blocks air from the lungs. Whatever the reason, teen smokers are more likely to have panic attacks, anxiety disorders, and depression. Illegal Drugs When people talk about the "drug problem," they usually mean abusing legal drugs or using illegal drugs, such as marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, LSD, crystal meth and heroin. Cocaine is a white powder that comes from the dried leaves of the coca plant that is found in South America

Bush also has ties to the University of Oxford; he researched Spanish fiction and history there. There exists a clear difference between the two English translations. One may think that they actually have a third language in front of them when reading the translation by Mabbe. Phrases like "Nor art thou for this to censure... love subdueth all... if thou knowest it not already" (Mabbe p 63) simply don't pass for modern English. Bush translates this same passage as "You've no reason to carp... love sweeps all before it... If you don't know already" (Bush p 20-21). It is easy to see how much more modern this second translation feels, it is much closer to the way that I would translate the words of Rojas. This difference of "time" is the most distinctive feature of each translation. APPENDIX James Mabbe Ed. Dorian Gray, Lord Henry Wotton, Basil Hallward

to know so well. The life of Lord Henry is all about one party topping another. You can call him a good people-person. He attends all polite social events for example parties and theatres. He drags his subjects of study with him to expand his influence span. His life goal is to celebrate youth and pleasure and he doesn't let anything come on his way of partying. You could call him even unshakeable as he can turn even the most dramatic events into a reason to party without a care in the world. Lord Henry Wotton is probably someone whose shoes would be interesting and fun to walk in but whose company is a tough burden to bear.

I guess it's all in your head. Whether you accept that something has happened and you try to make the best out of it and do anything that makes your life great again, or you sit sadly and pity yourself, unable to fix anything. The slogans like "Look at the sunny side of everything", "After the rain always comes the sun", "Be happy with what you have, not with what you don't", and "It might always be worse" might sound cheesy, but they are there for a reason - they are true. Life is hard, but as much as it's hard, it's beautiful. There are a million things that make life worth living, that make it beautiful and enjoyable, that make you happy. There's always something in your life that still makes it worthwhile. It's an art to remember and appreciate it even at the worst times of your life, but if you do that, you can get through anything. If you do that, you can have a beautiful, happy life what ever happens.

THE VALUE OF THINGS VS THE PRICE OF THINGS

A good example to prove it, is Apple. The price of Apple products are simply overrated. Iphone is like any other phone, but people buy it just to be popular and because everyone else are buying them. For Apple it is good of course, because they are serving benefits. Other example are designer clothes. The value of these clothing items are like clothes from basics shops. Designers sell their clothings for thousands and people are buying them. I think the reason, why people are buying such expensive and overrated products, is that they want to be like each other or show that they are better or richer than the others. It is funny that people do things like these. Some people do not value things that are buyable, they value things, what they have. For example pensioners. They do not want expensive cars, technology, clothes or houses. The most important things for them are good health, healthy family members and warm house.

What is expected of a graduate of the 21st century

There should be no pressure form outside environment to students what they should do after graduating. It is their own choice and they don’t need immediately start looking their place under the sun. University should make the decision easier but not to set high standards. Of course I don’t mean that there should be no pressure at all because it is good and inspiring when students know that something is expected from them. It gives them some insurance that they are in university for a reason and need to work hard. Swiss developmental psychologist Jean Piaget once said that the principal goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done. I think that applies to university graduates very well and what should be expected from them. University can open a door for you but you must enter yourself. Positive sides of outdoor learning

Also, outdoor education is not only important to raise environmentally responsible citizens, but to have positive impact on student's development. Several studies are claiming that students who participate in outdoor education have rising trends in self-esteem, linguistic skills, motivation, concentration and better understanding of the concept. All these aspects are essential in youth development and the main reason why these traits have positive growth is that in outdoor education many different subjects are combined and integrated. This will make student lives and interaction with the world clearer. Some nature centers, environmental education facilities, camps, and other organizations that focus on teaching outdoor education have started to incorporate digital technologies into their programs in hopes of connecting today's children to nature. The Dog fence

Day after day people, singly or in pairs travel at the fence filling their days by patrolling at the fence. They fill in the holes, set the traps, replace post, close the gates, and shoot dingoes. Natural forces conspire against the fence. Floods wash it away, rust eats it up, blowing sand buries it, and falling trees crush it. Then there are the animals. Wombats, foxes, and pigs dig holes under it. Hot-blooded bulls and wild camels knock it down. Emus for some reason run with full speed into it and spilt the mesh. Dingoes usually don’t make holes. They just wait to step through one. The repair work is relentless on a fence pressured by weather and wildlife. The work is hard and hot. Unloading post logs, carrying timber, stringing new mesh across the posts. To build a mile of 2m high netting costs as much as 12,000 dollars The Fence is administered by the Department of Natural Resources and Mines. The Wild

drink derived from the agave plant over 400 years ago. In recent years, world demand for tequila has been growing much more rapidly than in the past and production has doubled over the past years in order to satisfy growing world demand. Mexican consumers have always taken pride in consuming tequila made from 100 % agave, while most export tequila was mixture of 51 % tequila and 49 sugar-based distilled spirits. But domestic consumption of pure tequilaactually fell in 1999. The reason: Rising Prices caused by booming foreign sales. Because the agave plant takes as lõng as 10 years to mature, supply cannot be quikly increased. Mexican consumers have suffered a loss of consumer surplus. They will drink more mixed tequila or switch to ohter drinks. Such is life in an economy that is open to free trade. This book reviles more , exampl about transport costs continuing . hinge! You are my reason to live ! :* Sa muudad pisarad naeruks, valu armastuseks ja pimeduse valguseks ! When you can live forever , what do you live for ? I live for you , because you are my reason to live . (L) Elus tuleb õppida leppima olema ilma . Nüüd ma tean mis tunne on nukul , kui ta minema visata . Kui sõber sureb , siis me kaotame osakese endast ühe parema osa . Kui kaotame sõbra , siis me kaotame ka osakese endast ühe parema osa .

The Death of the Author

fears, her unprovoked bravado, her daring and her delicious delicacy of feeling” Who is speaking in this way? Is it the story’s hero, concerned to ignore the castrato con- cealed beneath the woman? Is it the man Balzac, endowed by his personal experience with a philosophy of Woman? Is it the author Balzac, professing certain “literary” ideas of femininity? Is it universal wisdom? or romantic psychology? It will always be impossible to know, for the good reason that all writing is itself this special voice, consisting of several indiscernible voices, and that literature is precisely the invention of this voice, to which we cannot assign a specific origin: literature is that neuter, that composite, that oblique into which every subject escapes, the trap where all identity is lost, beginning with the very identity of the body that writes. —

Percy Bysshe Shelley

How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver, Streaking the darkness radiantly! yet soon Night closes round, and they are lost for ever: Or like forgotten lyres, whose dissonant strings Give various response to each varying blast, To whose frail frame no second motion brings One mood or modulation like the last. We rest. A dream has power to poison sleep; We rise. One wandering though pollutes the day; We feel, conceive or reason, laugh or weep; Embrace fond woe, or cast our cares away: It is the same! for, be it joy or sorrow, The path of its departure still is free: Man's yesterday may ne'er be like his tomorrow; Nought may endure but Mutability.

armoured vehicle, but this time it had the ability of transforming into a motorbike. One important piece of equipment, though not used by Batman in combat as others, was the BatSignal. This was a searchlight with batshaped insignia over the lens that projected the symbol of a bat on the clouds in the night sky. It was used by the Gotham City police to call on Batman whenever he was needed. The reason for using a searchlight was that the signal could be seen from anywhere in Gotham City. IV The Hero on the Screen Even though Batman began as a character in comic books, much of his popularity can be attributed to the 60's TV series. The series gave its subject matter a much lighter treatment and relied heavily on comedy. In 1989, a movie by Tim Burton was released, which once again brought the character to

The monastery in Tallinn was certainly in existence by1246.Constructed in the gothic style, it exhibits a number of Interesting architectural features, and contains the largest collection of carved stones in Estonia. The site of the monastery in the Old City was carefully chosen in order to facilitate both the ministry of the friars and their business interests. They traded in fish in order to support themselves, but their reason for existing was preaching the word of God. The seal of the monastery bore the words `Order of Preachers". The people, however, knew it as "Blackfriars Monastery' because of the black cloak the friars wore in public over their white habit. Accoding to medieval documents the monastery was dedicated to Saint Catherine. A common symbol of the Dominican Order is a black and white dog holding in his mouth a burning torch. information (size, shape, colour, brightness or location) that reaches the eye is called 2 05144023 perceptual constancy. And perceptual constancies tell us that visual information from the retinal image is sketchy and incomplete, and that the visual information has to travel beyond the retinal image in order to be more complete. For this reason, Gregory argues that perception must be an indirect process involving a construction based on physical sources of energy. From this point of view there is a footing for explanation of illusions in which some of them he has explained successfully. Gregory argues that when we experience a visual illusion what we perceive may not be physically present in the retinal image. Illusions can essentially be explained when our

business with Estonians. Estonians do not always respond to what has been said, especially if they are uncomfortable with the subject or if they need more time to organize their thoughts. Although they are direct communicators, Estonians temper their directness in order to protect the feelings of all concerned. They are slow to pay compliments and may become suspicious of compliments offered too readily and without sufficient reason. Passive silence is very much part of the communication style. Estonians are not fond of conversational overlap and will not think highly of someone who interrupts them while they are speaking. Estonians value their good reputations. Therefore, be careful not to criticize or embarrass anyone publicly. Business Meeting Etiquette Meetings generally begin with a welcoming speech from the most senior Estonian at the meeting. The most senior person from your team should respond with a short speech.
