Top Gear

We didn't want to stop for long at James's rocketship with a bog next to your head so we showed James Richards motorhome. James took it all together with one nice sentence: ,,It's a Land Rover with curtains on the outside". That is pretty much all there is to it though Richard assured us that it will all be explained when we get to our camping site. No time later we were handed a challange. We had to drive over 200 km to Cornwall. As James May was boasting about his motorhome, Richard couldn't really do the same. The noise the motorhome ,,parts" or ,,walls" made was just terrible. Putting that aside, according to Hammond the heating system of the Land Rover wasn't as good as he had hoped for as well, describing it as ,,quite chilly". My motorhome was of course doing fine. Apart from some wobbling everything was just aces. Just to be sure I wasn't a threat on the road I had James pull behind me to take a quick look.

But what exactly is this IS that we can see or on the opposite can not see? Therefore this is one of the fundamental questions of philosophy. 2. Can you reject solipsism? Solipsism (solus ipse) means nothing exists, therefore everything is an illusion outside of our own minds. I think that it is true that we know WE as in myself exists. But i can not for certain say that the person reading this exists although it might seems like it to me. I think that you really can’t reject solipsism on the whole because you do know that you exists, but can you for certain say that anybody else does? It may as well be just an illusion, but you never can say for certain. That is why you can not reject it, although you may say that you don’t believe it. 3. What is Kant’s categorical imperative? It is a kind of ethic or moral law or philosophy that applies to every being. It is a motivation for an action that must be completed

The most pressing environmental issues in Estonia

As I know a lot of waste waters are putting out to see, near in the beach. In witness of it is appearance of blue seaweeds. In my opinion these thing is very dangerous and harmful for health. As I mentioned before we have also recycling problem. I think that today that problem should be smaller because people should to recycle rubbish. Today we have different containers, separately for paper, biodegradable things and bottles. I can't understand why people don't do it. Is it really so hard? I think no. To conclude, all people, nation, rich or poor, have great responsibility to challenge the problems that confront our country and the world on the whole. I am of the opinion that when people start understand that many things depend on our actions then environmental problem will become smaller. In order for earth to support us, we have to support it first.

magazines that are viewed by many people daily. Everyone has the desire to look like the actors and actresses do but, in reality, it just will not happen for most of us. Often the desire becomes an obsession and young girls see "thinness" as being a needed characteristic. For many girls, the teenage years are spent trying to acquire this look. 40% of 9- and 10-year-old girls are already trying to lose weight and I find this fact really terrifying. Eating disorders are a serious health problem. Three of the most common eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating or compulsive eating disorder. This can lead to many health problems, for instance an irregular heartbeat, that causes heart failure and even death. In my opinion, people are aware of the consequences of eating disorders and junk/fast food. I think, that eating disorders should be taken more seriously as this can be fatal

over his behaviour and his reputation in public decreases. This grows concern in Basil, who has deep feelings for Dorian and Basil tries to put some sense into the boy's mind. After Dorian had killed Basil, the same coldness and indifference, which had been there after Sibyl's suicide, appear again. All the sins that Dorian makes reveal themselves on the portrait. He keeps the door locked, but sometimes goes to see what he really has become. The picture that he sees is so horrifying that ultimately he hates it so much that throws a knife into the heart of the Dorian in the picture. After death the portrait turns back to original and the body could only be recognized by the rings that Dorian wore. The price that Dorian paid for his long-lasting youth was too high. I would never wish to be young forever if it would turn me into such a monster as Dorian was.

Firstly, I would like to say that if I were an English teacher I would variegate the classes with subjects, which students would actually find interesting. I would find it exciting to let them think and explore more about politics, social issues, world news and of course other subjects that they really find interesting to speak about. I believe these subjects need also considering because the majority of youth actually has no idea or interest who represents them or how politics work for that matter. I find having a dialogue with students is a good opportunity for creating good relationships between the two parties in question. Secondly, I find it necessary to make sure that understood the system. If I were an

Stress in the life of young people

have felt like I want to give up on everything and just stop caring. Then I remember that times like this will not last and after a hurricane comes a rainbow. Even though being stressed out is not anything uncommon in teenager's life nowadays, I believe that it is all in our own hands and a little bit of stress does not harm us. We just need to learn how to cope with stress and how to avoid getting depressed. It is really easy to affect young people because the younger one is. the harder it is for him to control his emotions. The important thing is to remember that life is a gift and not only do we have to treat others nice, but we also have to care about ourselves.

Essay- Money is the All Root of Evil

It is because you cannot buy things you think you need to be happy. I think that, when someone thinks that they are unhappy because they do not have money, they are stupid. There are so many things to be happy for. I think money is the root of all evil because money can make sometimes the best friends to a enemies. Money can change things some times very much. Like when you need some money and you borrow that from your friend and promise her to give it back. And then your friend really needs this money you had borrowed from her and you just cannot give it back because you do not have it anymore. Then there is the situation when you do not have your friend anymore. Because you do not keep your promises and friendships consists of trust. Also some people don't know how to use money. As it is said- easy come, easy go. For example when you win the lottery and just spend the money without thinking where you put it then you don't have this money soon.

The Internet is making literature irrelevant

the book's title was, the person will not know what to answer. Nobody reads any more, or if they do it is on the internet and only a summary so as not to get tired too much. The Internet entertains superficially, as people do not gain too much by ''surfing'' it. Yes, maybe a new pair of glasses for spending so much time in front of a computer. I do not say there are no educating websites that are worth visiting, that really help, but their number is quite small. As not to get fat, while sitting on an arm-chair, people could instead go to a library, borrow a book and go to a park and start reading. Everybody will notice the difference. They will think so well of themselves while doing more things at once: reading and enjoying themselves in the middle of nature. People should try to understand that the Internet is benefic to our life till one point. If

Speech: TV is Little More Than a Waste of Time

Documentaries can help develop critical thinking about society and the world. Cultural programming can open up the world of music and art for young people. So it is important to watch quality channels. Finally, TV is considered to be a remarkable source of entertainment. I think that it is quite fun to watch interesting TV-shows from time to time and that it can be very relaxing. It is also nice to watch movies with friends and family. I don't watch TV very often but when I do, I really enjoy it. So, I agree that TV is a little more than a waste of time. But it is important to limit the time you watch TV to avoid the negative effects of television.

Dorian Gray - The price of everlastin beauty

The Price of Everlasting Beauty I read Oscar Wilde's book called "The Picture of Dorian Gray". It talks about a man who never ages, instead a portrait of him ages. Dorian can be forever beautiful but is it worth it? Dorian realizes that he cannot be young forever and wishes that the portrait would age not him but he does not think about the consequence. Lord Henry points out that Dorian cannot be beautiful and young forever and Dorian wishes that the painting would age not him. I think this it not worth it because everyone around Dorian will grow old and eventually die. He would see the people he cares about dying. Also, when Dorian understand that he can be beautiful forever, he does not care so much about what is going to happen or even what is going to happen with people around him. He was a caring young man who loved very much Sibyl, especially when she was acting. After realizing he would stay young foreve...

A short story

I had prepared myself for a job interview for a long time because I wanted that job so much. One day before the interview I set the alarm clock at 7.00am, so that I would have enough time to get ready. The interview started at 9.00am. I woke up in the morning because I heard a door bell and wondered who could come so early. I saw my neighbour standing at the door holding a newspaper. ,,You always come at 8 o'clock. What are you doing here so early?" I asked. She raised her eyebrows, felt really confused and said she had come as usual. I glanced at my watch and understood that my alarm clock hadn't rang. My job interview would start in one hour and I had to hurry on a bus. Half an hour later I was in the bus station and felt relieved because I had still 5 minutes until my bus came. So I waited and looked at the timetable and saw that the bus drove every working day except that day. ,,Oh, great," I said ironically. I wanted to call a taxi, but found

Efficient initiatives to help protect the environment

made by extracting fresh, raw material from the Earth, through mining and forestry. Recycling helps conserve important raw materials and protects natural habitats for the future. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change. I see this as a more sufficient way compared to saving electricity for example (but which, of course, is important too), for it’s generally easier to just recycle. It's really easy to carelessly waste energy–– leaving a light bulb on here and there, keeping the air conditioning on at home when you're out at work or school all day etc. Although it may not be obvious, there is a connection between energy use and the environment. As the same with recycling; when you consume less power, you reduce the amount of toxic fumes released by power plants, conserve the earth’s natural resources and protect ecosystems from destruction.

Wealth does not bring happiness. True or false?

And poor people dreaming can tell even less because they've never had such money and they don't know what it takes to stay wealthy and not fall hard back to being poor. In the end, wealth does help you a lot. It makes your life so much easier so you can concentrate on either getting more money or on your hobbies. On the other hand, it can also make your life more difficult. You never had a security problem before, and also people judge you only by the money you got and not by who you really are. It just doesn't show behind the wealth. But can anyone be happy without people who care of them? Because, as we've all seen in the movies, people close to rich people only care about their money which makes being rich a kind of sad, miserable and pointless. In the end of the day, your happiness has nothing to do with how wealthy you are. Wealth can help, but it can also disrupt. The grass is always greener on the other side, so be careful of what you wish for.

Waldspirale in German

Many of us reading fairytales have dreamt about living in magic houses and this twelve-storey building twisted in a shell is a dream come true. This eye-catching house, built without any rectangular forms, has a green roof with a garden, for what it was actually called a Forest spiral. There are 105 apartments, garage (), grocery store and a café inside the house as well as the patio () with an artificial pond and playground for kids. But why this house really stands out is that windows in it are situated unusually, going not in one line, but chaotically set in a façade. There are more than 1000 of them and no two are the same. The author of this creation, famous Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, says that he wanted to create the house, that will be a part of nature, as people should live in a harmony with our natural surroundings, even in the city center, as well as

Life in town vs Life in the country

People who will locate to live in the Country, cold be a good relationship with nature. Life in the Country is easier in many ways: quiet, fresh air, cheaper food, comfortable. In the Country people don't live very close to each others, which makes life more peacuful, there is opportunity to feel privacy. Air is less polluted than in Town, which enlarge people lenght of life. Food and other important things for life is cheaper than in Town, because it is really hard to find a job and almost impossible to spend money. People who live in the Country don't need to dress like pople in Town. In Town it is very important to look good and be well-established, specially in the downtown, but in the Country it doesn't matter what people wear. Although life in the Country is easier , it has its own negative sides like: unemployment, establishment will be closed, distress services are hardly available. Soon, the ultimate redemption arrives meeting Mr. Tyler Durden, the exact opposite of the narrator himself. I think for Mr. Palahniuk, the book is a way of telling the World how twisted the consumerist world is. The way of telling, is of course a bit extreme, depending on the readers taste, but I truly like it. Characters, like Mr

A letter to a friend describing a house for rent

This house has a view on a lake, where you can ride a boat and fish. It's surrounded by a little garden, in front of the house there are some beautiful roses growing. There is also a back yard suitable for barbecue partyes I know how much you like to cook with Markus, so it's a big pro. From the outside the cottage looks very pretty. It's finished with blue pine and is painted to light-green. It has also a marvelous thatched roof and it really reminds me one of these little elf houses from fairytales. Interior of the house is fully-furnished, it's is very spacious, but still comfortable and cozy. On the ground floor there is a living room decorated with unique lighting fixtures and beautiful wall ornaments. There's also a fireplace. Two bedrooms with a view over the lake are situated on the first floor. There is a sauna with bubble tube on this floor, too.

It had been a bonding experience for them. John Ames is amazed by the fact that everywhere he goes people seem to know that he is a reverend, even strangers. Mr. Ames thinks about the brightest memories of his childhood and writes them down hoping that his son learns something from every story he has put down for him. He mentions his good old friend Mr. Boughton tells about a small disaster that had happened to their hens and the barn. John Ames really wants his son to know and remember him when he is gone and tries to give a detailed list of his regrets and meaningful stories hoping his son learns from them. Workday needs fairy tales

The one that goes running would surely agree that there is no better feeling than running. Whichever worries have been collected during the day, are becoming forgotten. There, the person is together with the running lane, feet gently touching the ground and the target even more clean in front of their eyes. The body is heating up and the clothes are sticking to the sweaty body, the wind blowing through the hair and the sporting goods company Adidas banner: Impossible is nothing, really seems possible. It is the work, that you can see and feel the outcome right away and that's why it feels so inspiring and wonderful. Comes a feeling that ugly duckling can actually become beautiful swan if you work hard and give enough effort. Workday fairy tales can be hidden in unimportant details or be something totally common. Their charm comes in timing. In a right time even a butterfly flying by can make a day like a fairy tale.

After that Pecola discovers that she is pregnant. The entire town of Lorain turns against her, except Claudia and Frieda. In the end Pecola's child is born prematurely and dies. The language was a little hard for me. There was lot of expressions and I got many new words. I think the main message of a book is that people discriminate those who are different and this is wrong. You can't decide who is beautiful and who is ugly. I recommend this book for everyone, because it is really interesting to read. it makes you think, because issues raised in the book are also problems in our every day life Where does Claudia and Frieda live? Why does Pecola think that she is ugly? why does Pecola think blue eyes will change her life? What tragedies did Pecola have to deal with? Why did Pecola's father rape her? Why why did the entire town turn againt Pecola? What happened with Pecola's child? In what school was Morrison teaching while writing the novel?

Friends with benefits

Jamie presents Dylan with the contract to sign so she can land her commission for recruiting him. One night, while hanging out at Jamie's apartment watching a romantic comedy, they get on the topic of sex and relationships. They come to the conclusion that sex should not come with so many emotional attachments. As they both feel the need for a physical connection, they agree to have sex without emotion or commitment. After several trysts together Jamie comes to the realization that this isn't really what she wants and she would like to start dating again. She informs Dylan that they need to stop. There's also an unexpected ending. It's my favourite movie at the moment. First time I saw it was in the cinema with my best friend. This movie always reminds me of her. The main characters are funny and lovely. Mila Kunis is my favourite actor. I highly recommend this movie. It's a great movie for all comedy lovers and romantics. I've watched it many times and for sure will watch it again

Traditions

These traditions bring family closer together. For me birthdays are very important. On your birthday you can feel the love around you and also you can see that there are so many people who care about you. In my opinion the importance of ,,The New Year" on January 1 is overemphasized. There seems to be an almost magical belief in a "New Year" bringing change. Other than starting a new wall calendar, beginning a new tax year, and having a reason to party it's really just any other day. Changes and resolutions can be started any time in December or January. Quite often people think that this is the right time to get drunk and do things which you don´t want to remember tomorrow and that`s sad. Because this should be the time to think about what has happened in the previous year and think about the future. This evening should be unforgettable. I think that this tradition- celebrating the New Year has lost its meaning and glamour.

American Literature Character Sketch-The Color Purple-Shug Avery

Character Sketch-Shug Avery The Color Purple by Alice Walker Shug Avery was a very passionate African-American blues singer, and I believe quite a lot throughout the novel. Her evolvement was interesting to observe. First impression of her wasn’t positive because she appeared rather inelegant and also quite selfish. In essence, she seemed to be unlikable as well as superficial. Shug (originally Lilly) didn’t really embrace herself and adopted a nickname – “Shug”. However she developed a sexual relationship with Celie and with that broke the boundaries of traditional gender roles. She was outspoken, exteremely honest and not easy to affect. All her three children were born out of wedlock. She is a good example of sexuality and gender not being as univocal and simplistic topics as they may seem since she was a bisexual (sexual relationship with Celie).

Benefits and drawbacks about Estonia

Many countries have gradually climate , when all time sun is shining and it rains one time in 1 month. In my opinion, all seasons have own benefits. For example, Even winter is coming, snow is falling, temperature is very high, weather is cold, Estonian forests are so fantastic and enchantress. Also, Estonia is slightly bigger than Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. On the other hand, this country have own drawbacks. What I really hate, it is mandatory learning Estonian language. Without knowledge Estonian language, I, and a lot of people cannot study in qualify and attractive universities. Also in our country significantly small salary and low perspective. There is average salary in one month 977 euro, but not all people give this money. In Estonia typical policeman getting paid approximately 600-700 and As long as police do not

What I Think of Homereading

books. The genre of the book depends what the reader likes to read about. I think that everyone can find something interesting for themselves, they just need to search. These days it is easy to find books, the library is full of books and there are many webpages where reader can read e-books online. Reading is not only fun and entertaining but it also improves your writing skill. From books we can learn many new words and write better essays in school. It really improves language and I don't mean foreign language but also native language. We can learn many new ways of saying things and so we can make our writing and talking much colorful by variety of words. I think that is very important for us to learn new words because if we hear them from news, tv, radio or read them from newspaper, magazine we know the meaning of the word. Knowing variety of words also shows our intelligence.

The Importance of English History

Even now some parts of England have inhabitants whose distant relatives and great-great-great...parents origin from the first ones to ever settle down on the island. To conclude, it could be said that the most interesting part of the history is watching the development of a nation and its life with the native nature. Both change through time, yet neither disappear nor surrender completely to another. The importance of English History lies in everything and everyone connected with it. England really is an island to learn something interesting about.

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons

Speech: Ideas are our greatest weapons Hello class and classmates, I would like to open up my speech with a quote that I find really amazing: „The pen is mightier than the sword”. Sadly I don't know whose it is, but it means, that not every war has to be fought with swords and weapons, coming up with an idea about something that isn't violent might be a lot easier way to conquer in life. I think that all of you know that every tool, weapon, Everything that surrounds us, has started with an idea. That shouldn't be new for you. Some people might find it hard to believe, but even the most

Alchemy English

Mixing together diferent substances probably shorten their life span by decades. They spent their lives to find it but I don't think that they managed it. Why i would like to have a philosopher's stone? Think about a person who can make gold. I could rule the world simply by being able to produce massive amounts of money out of iron or copper. I could be the richest person on earth and do what i want. It's a nice dream but thinking about it more deeply and after a really short research, I do not believe that a thing like Philosopher's stone exists.

Why does Marx elevate proletariat? Do you see Wright doing the same? What do you think why?

was dealing with life instead of revolutionizing, which inevitably causes inequality. Some people have business knowledge and others have skills, which necessarily makes one getting exploited by the other. What he wanted to say was, that the proletariat does not have to be against the upper class. All in all, I am more into Erik Olin Wright’s view rather than Marx’s. Unless there comes a time in my lifetime when an event such as a revolution really comes to life. Until then, they both make good points and have ideas that are worthy of looking into.
