What is the best age to be?

What is the best age to be? In my opinion there is not a best age and because of that is a question that will always be left unanswered. The life span approach emphasizes developmental change is throughout adulthood as well as childhood. As a 18 year old female I cannot really choose a specific age group that would be best in the life in every aspect, because I have not yet reached certain age periods of my life span development. All ages have great and bad things. When you are a child your freedom is limited and it mostly depends on your parents´ mood at that time. Some examples like where you have to be home at 9.00pm and no TV until you´ve cleaned your room. Also then you have problems, but only the ones generated at school. Childhood has many responsibilities, some we like, some we have to do and some we despise. Responsibilities some of us enjoy doing is homework...

English portfolio

This was the time of the crystallization and the culmination of serfdom, when various socio- political and cultural undercurrents were also active, preparing the ground for the industrial society and the national-democratic movement in the second half of the 19th century. The 1710 of the corporations of knights and towns, until Alexander II (18551881), established the relationships between Estonia, Livonia and the Russian Empire. The Baltic Landesstaat reached its full development. The freedom of action in the new provinces was naturally granted to one of the most firm ideological pillars of the tsarist empire -- the Russian orthodox church; though as the Landeskirche in the Estonian and Livonian territories, the Lutheran church long maintained a de facto predominance. The most important organ of Baltic German local government was the Diet, consisting of all the noble families who had been `selected' in a list of the eligible. Although jealously...

Ameerika ühendriigid

History For thousands of years America was unknown to Europe. In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered it while trying to reach India. He didn't stay and in the sixteenth century the first Europeans to settle in America were the Spanish, the English and the French. The first village founded by the English settlers was in Virginia in 1607. It was called Jamestown. In 1620 a new group of British settlers reached Plymouth, Massachusetts, called 'Pilgrims' due to their strong belief in religion. They became farmers and businessmen who coped with the Indians and in 1621 had a big dinner to thank the Indians as they had helped them to survive the hard winter. That day is now known as Thanksgiving and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in America. More and more people arrived. Over a time settlers from many other countries...

Links between Estonia and English speaking countries

These contacts might be very old. During Hanseatic times the trade on the Baltic Sea was quite active. The links might be even older. Historians have claimed that already during the second Punic war in 218 BC a northern nation called Esths controlled the north south trade of furs. It is most likely that some furs also reached the area of present day England. Even more likely contacts between Estonia and England date back to the beginning of the second millennium AD. It has been widely acknowledged, that Estonians and Danes often combined forces when attacking larger targets. This would mean that Estonians have made frequent and regular raids to the shores of England. Unfortunately there is no written evidence about these contacts. The only possible...

How to make the world greener

How to make the world greener As the time goes on, people keep polluting the world more and more till the last decade or so when green living has reached a huge audience and a lot of organisations have been established aswell as a lot of online sites like greenerworld.com which help you save the environment. The main reason the global pollution has risen lately is because of the enormous growth in world population. Some scientists predict that we will reach ten billion people count by the year 2050, but who knows, maybe by then we have used up all the irrecoverable resources and have to move half the population to the moon and...

Tallinn

Nowadays, the church has an Estonian Lutheran congregation and also serves as a concert hall. 3. Lower Town The Town Wall encircling the Lower Town is one of the greatest medieval treasures of Tallinn. It was begun in the 13th century, completed in the 14th and constantly improved and strengthened thereafter. The walls were 2.5 metres thick on average, over 2 km long, and their height reached 15-16 metres. The wall was fortified by 27 towers, 18 of which have survived. In Tower Square you can admire several of them. The strongest are the cannon towers Fat Margaret and Kiek in the Kök (Peep into the Kitchen). Many towers in the Town wall have been restored as fine restaurants, cafés and intimate concert calls. Two-thirds of the old wall have survived, making it one of the most special medieval sights in Tallinn. The Tallinn Town Hall...

Carl Lewis

Carl Lewis The greatest and most famous athlete of the last century, who formerly won about 20 gold medals in four different events (100 m, 200 m, long jump and 4x100 relay), is called Carl, which is a nick that hides his true identity: Frederick Carlton Lewis. He was born on 1st July 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama, the same country of Jesse Owens for the will of doom: in fact his parents lived there fleetingly owing to their job. Third of five sons, he spent his childhood in Willingboro together with his younger sister Carol, Bill, his dad and Evelyn, his mother. Since his first years of life he could breath the soft and clean air of sport: his father used to train athletes at university and his mother was 6th at 80 m hurdles in the Pan-American games of 1951.He saw the Olympic games of 1968 on TV and could admire Bob Beamon: he was...

Sandrigham house

The story began in 1862. Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, was looking for a country home for his eldest son, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, before his twentieth birthday. The idea was to find a healthy retreat for his young son, away from the distractions of the city. Before a decision had been reached , the Prince Consort died suddenly of typhoid in December 1861. It was left up to his eldest son to conclude the house-hunt. After paying a visit to Sandringham on 3 February 1862, the Prince of Wales was impressed enough to have decided by the end of the day that he wanted to buy the house. For the house and furnishings, the Prince paid £220,000. Sandringham's first role was as a home for newly-weds. Prince Albert Edward married...

Many of these are found nowhere else on the planet. Among these animals are kangaroos, wombats and koalas. They carry their babies in pouches. There are platypuses and tiny anteaters (echidnas)too, which are the only mammals in the worls that lay eggs. Among the birds are emus, lyrebirds and black swans. When a platypus specimen first reached to Europe people thought it was a fake, sewn together from birds and other animals. The platypus, the strangest of Australia's animals, is a living reminder of ancient, exctinct creatures. The best known animal that lives in Australia is the kangaroo ofcourse. There are about 50 species of kangaroo, ranging in size from the big red kangaroo of the outback to wallabies and smaller ratkangaroos. Kangaroos are marsupials too. Their babies develop inside their mother's pouch....

The romantic movement in American literature

· "Bolts of Melody: New Poems of Emily Dickinson" · Poems for Youth (1934, poetry) · Love, nature, religion, morality I died for beauty I died for beauty but was scarce Adjusted in the tomb, When one who died for truth was lain In an adjoining room. He questioned softly why I failed? "For beauty," I replied. " And I for truth,--the two are one; We brethren are," he said. However, the invasion of Ireland was not motivated by religion. The invasion force captured Wexford on the Norsemen. Despite the ongoing negotiations Dublin fell and the establishment of a small Anglo-Norman colony, known as The Pale, marks the start point of foreign rule over Ireland. Without too much of a fight all Irish kings gave in to Henry II. The Anglo-Norman authority outside the protected colony, The pale, was non- existent. Henry II reached an agreement with the Irish and they signed the Treaty of Windsor. By this Treaty Rory O'Connor became the monarch of all the unconquered areas of Ireland and in return he recognised King Henry II as his overlord and was due to pay him an annual tribute. A period of eight centuries of foreign oppression had began for the Irish. *Richard I and Minstrel Blondel There is a legend that when King Richard the Lionheart disappeared his favourite trobadure Blondel the Minstrel went to search for him...

Piletid vastustega

Real poeration currents and voltages of power diodes are essentially restricted with power losses and the thermal effect of power dissipation. Therefore, in power devices cooling is very important. In the case of reverse biased voltage, only the small leakage current flows through the diode. This current is independent of the reverse voltage until the breakdown voltage is reached . After that, the diode voltage remains essentially constant while the current increases dramatically.Only the resistance of the external circuit limits the maximum value of current. 8)For power diodes, switching process is the most common operation mode. A power diode requires a finite time interval to switch over from the off-state to the on-state or vice versa. Switching properties are analyzed at a given rate of current change....
