Radial growth of trees were determined from 65 samples of pines sampled in 2009. Samples were measured on LINTAB instrument and TSAPWin program. Measured data were analysed in Excel and TSAPWin programs. Results show that yearly growth of bog pines was the biggest during 1960-1990 - clear agreement with earlier studies. During last decades the growth has dropped: in Kõrgesoo back to level of 60s, in Puhatu on slightly higher level. Thus, nice agreement with the use of oil shale - the main source of alkaline and nutrient-rich pollution in area is observable.

In the first part of the thesis, technological features of the original engine were dealt with and its particular condition was described concerning its measurements and observations. This was necessary to identify further decisions and opportunities. In the next part, the task was to find out the extent of alterations to achieve the desired goal, for that a simulation of the engine's outer characteristics was performed, using the program Engine Analyser Pro. The simulation revealed that to achieve the objectives, extensive alterations were to be done in the engine, which included improvement of the capacity of inlet and exhaust channels, optimization of gas distribution mechanism, increasing the compression ratio, and the adjustment of various units of the engine to operate at higher speeds. Based on the simulation and the condition of the specific engine the necessary activities were decided upon to carry out the work.

They were also lovers of Siamese cats and became aware of Stirling-Webb's experimental breeding programme in England. The Borretts travelled to England to visit Stirling-Webb and to purchase several of his cats to start their own breeding program.
