Customs and behaviour patterns in Finland

You can still politely suggest that you would be happy to pay for your companion's meal. Finnish people drink coffee all the time and everywhere, for instance meetings always begin with a cup of coffee. Do not be surprised if no one comes to sit next to you on the bus. Remember privacy! Dishonesty is the worst sin of all to the Finns. Going to a sauna in Finland, even without clothes, has nothing to do with sex a sauna is a sacred place for the Finns. Remember to respect the nature. Nature is very close to a Finn's heart. Finnish society is very organised. Also, remember to queue! Silence at night is required in tower blocks normally after 10pm. The communal hallways usually have information on the times of silence. Do not disturb! The custom here is that both men and women

meters ahead. But then he remembered about the other rider, but when he turned the Devil`s Field was empty. His companion was gone as well the horses. The man was seriously scared now, but since he was one of the Royal Solders fear was not allowed to be shown in public. So he drew his half-iron, half-silver sword and decided to go back to the field, but then he thought: "Alec told me to run...It means I mustn`t return to That place anymore...What should I do?" Suddenly the cloudy autumn sky turned red and the rider heard some wild animal roaring. This was unacceptable to his brave lionheart and he ran off to the forest not looking back even once. He wandered pointlessly many hours thinking of his friend whom was taken away by some mysterios beast. "Maybe the Devil really exists?" he whispered anxiously to the trees, but they didn`t give him an answer, they only swayed in the chilly wind.

The Pilgrim Fathers

On November 9th, 1620, the `Mayflower' sighted what is now Cape Cod. Despite seeing land, the crew of the `Mayflower' searched for another month to find somewhere to land. Where they eventually landed was called New Plymouth. On December 25th, after finding a place where the `Mayflower' could be safely anchored, the Pilgrim Fathers began to build the first house for common use. By February 1621, 50% of the Pilgrim Fathers had died as a result of the cold weather and the inadequate housing that they had built for themselves. A Native American called Squanto helped those Pilgrim Fathers who survived the harsh winter. He showed them how to sow maize and how to cultivate the crop. Seeds brought from England were of little use in their new environment

Two years after his wife´s death Poe himself was found in a Baltimore street near a polling place on an Election Day, died a few days later in hospital when he was only 40. · His works reflect the double aspect of his personality: the abandonment of the self-destructive romantic artist and the self-control of the conscious and conscientious craftsman, the passivity of the dreamer indifferent to all that exists outside his dream world and the restless activity of a keen mind always on the alert. · Poe himself classified his tales as "grotesque", "arabesque", "ratiocinative", to

more than anyone else in England. People said Mr. Treves ought to write his memoirs. Mr. TREVES knew better. He knew that he knew too much. He's opinion was always respected. The group who sat around the fireplace talked about the murder what had happened in the Old Bailey in the morning. They talked themselves out, little by little and then their eyes turned to mr. Treves. Then mr. Treves said a few wise words. He likes a good detective story, but they all start with the wrong place. They start with the murder. But murder is and should be at the end of the story. It should begin at long before, perhaps even years before that. the whole story should culminate to towards zero. The story continues in the 11th January. Angus MacWhirter wanted to commit suicide but he found himself from the hospital. He was a very angry because he was not allowed to die. London - inglise keeles kokkuvõte

LONDON The history of the town is very closely linked with the history of the country itself. The name probably comes from the celtic words Llyn, which means a lake, and Dun, which means a fort or a strong place. Although the site was not important during the Celtic period (400 BC 43 AD) During the Roman occupation Londinium, as it was called then, was not influential politically, but was, however an important crossing point for the romans over the river Thames. Londinium was at a very good place, so it soon became a trading centre. In AD 61 the city was devastated by Boudicca, who led a revolt againt the Roman conquest of Britain. The city was burned down and its inhabitants massacred. London was rapidly rebuilt, becoming the capital of the province Britannia. AD 122 Roman walls were built around it as a Around AD 400 the Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain. They destroyed the roman towns and formed many kingdoms that were hostile to one another. London fell into ruins. King Egbert

Of course the situation was a bit different in smaller colonies where the population was smaller and also more easily manageable. All the bigger colonies had complete internal self-government but recognized the overall authority of the British government. All the changes that took place in Britain were carried to its subjects as well in one way or another. Everything that took place in the mother country reflected to its subjects as well. After the World War II, in 1947 India gained its independence and a new state of Pakistan was simultaneously created which led to a wave of decolonisation and several colonies became independent and sovereign states. Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin More than a century after his death, and four generations after the publication of his chief work, "The Origin of Species", Charles Darwin may still be considered the most controversial scientist in the world. His name is synonymous with the debate that continues to swirl around the theory of evolution, a theory that deeply shook the Western view of humanity and its place in the world. We tend to speak simply of the theory of evolution, leaving off the explanatory phrase, "through natural selection." At most, perhaps, the general public has heard of "survival of the fittest" a poor phrase as far as I'm concerned, since fitness in everyday usage is associated with physical conditioning and athletic ability. "Survival of the most suited to its environment" would be a more accurate, and convincing expression for this pedicular concept

Australians. The flag with its colours of red (representing the land), black (representing the people) and the yellow in the middle (representing the sun) is a source of pride for Indigenous Australians. The present coat of arms was granted by King George V in 1912. It consists of a shield containing the badges of six Australian states, enclosed by an ermine border. The shield is a symbol for the federation of the states, which took place in 1901. The crest, which is above the shield, is a seven-pointed gold star on a blue and gold wreath. The seven points of the star represent exactly the same thing that they do on the flag. The supporters of the shield are native Australian animals: the red kangaroo and the emu. Usually the coat of arms is depicted on the background of sprays of golden wattle with a scroll beneath it containing the word `Australia'.

Freedom of speech

Estonians has strongly tried to keep alive their own nationality, independent that Estonia is a very small state in comparison with other states. Thanks to the Tartu peace treaty, liberty war, finally public achieved to their state a freedom. Republic gives to people feeling that they are free inside and outside to express their own opinion on many subjects. Anyway if I live in Republic I should have to be a chance to express my opinion. There is still a place, where I can not do this. That place is unfortunately my home, what does not makes the homely feeling in me. When I was just a little girl, my mother died and everything in my life changed. My father separated me from my sister and brother. I had to go to live in his family and accept with a stepmother and their kids. To me was verboten to say my opinion about something. They didn't write them down, just told or sang them to others, who passed them on the same way and so they spread from generation to generation. Now if a language dies, the folklore dies with it. So we will also lose our ancestors knowledge, in what they believed in, what they valued. We will lose the myths and legends, how the world or a certain place was made. In fairytales people learn about virtues, how to make a difference between right and wrong. If that was lost, where will kids learn their values then? From society? Where there are liars, thiefs, frauds, hypocrisists, violent and selfish people? Or from cartoons, where a cat hits a mouse and the mouse hits it back? When languages die, songs and traditions die as well. Our ancestors use to dance and sing at parties

on position lower down from the about 38m-high tower. Already in the late 15th century the tower was somewhat reconstructed. The outer walls were made thicker and the tower got a diameter of 17.3 m. The walls are 4 m thick but the tower was then lower than today. The waterproof upper floor made of cobblestones was open and had 22 embrasures in its parapet. The parapet must have been covered by some kind of a roof but the middle part of the floor was uncovered to get the mortars and catapults in place better. Compared to the other Tallinn towers Kiek in de Kök was predominant in its fire power, due to its 27 embrasures for cannons and 30 for handguns. The ground floor was a storage floor and here was also the initial entrance. This floor had a narrow light and airshaft and no embrasures. The ammunition was hoisted up through the openings in the domed vaults by the help of a winch. On the upper, defence floors the guns were rigged

The first season are directed by Robert Young, the second by Simon Langton and the two last series are directed by Ferdinand Fairfax. The theme song is an original piece of music in the jazz/swing style written by composer Anne Dudley. Like I was saying the action discribe 1920's and 1930's and that's the reason why the jokes are more controlled than today. You can see and feel the 30's environment and how peoples are polite and wear smart clothes

Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student

The thing I am the most proud of is the information technology and telecommunication field. I could not imagine my life without such a good internet connection as it is in Estonia; it is one thing I use absolutely every day. I read e-mail, newspapers; use bank services and so on. I find it being impossible to not mention the voting opportunity through the internet in fact 140 00 voters (24, 3% of actual voters) used online voting when the election of 2011 took place. This is impressive. For an entrepreneur it is also a very best place to start, we have skilled and hardworking workforce, Estonia actually encourage entrepreneurship skills and it only takes 20 minutes to get your company registered legally. Our IT-friendly atmosphere is also an advantage. Being a student of economics has affected me by inverting my overlook on money and developed my economical thoughts about life. For an example last weekend I went to Tartu

With quotation marks it means that idea is not mine and at the end of my work I mention the author's name. No plagiarism is when you introduce information that is common knowledge (e.g. China is oriental country). As soon as this knowledge becomes more studied by somebody and this information has some source you need to credit the source the information came from. Common knowledge specific knowledge. Unintentional plagiarism may take place if you reword the author's idea or words slightly keeping basically to his sentences and yet you mark it in your reference however because of borrowing so many words even mentioning the name of the author and the page of his book it is still plagiarism (e.g. "This author is the cheap prostitute selling the cheap ideas" Author X.
