Thailand

Thailand The place of my dreams is very far-away from my homeland Estonia. It's the Kingdom of Thailand located in Southeast Asia. To reach there you have first to survive very long and exhausting flight which lasts about 12 hours. But don't worry walking out from the airport makes you easily to forget this, because tropical weather and sunshine never leaves you in Thailand. I have been in Thailand twice, but I haven't visited the capital and also the largest city of Thailand - Bangkok

Environment

This means that too much ultraviolet radiation now enters the Earth. This is very dangerous because it can cause cancer. Poisonous chemicals also cause acid rain, that destroyes plants, rivers, lakes and buildings. Acid rain can travel thousands of miles, so pollution in one country can become acid rain for another country. So how to avoid the worst? Lets talk about cars, which are the main means of transport in our everyday life, they are useful and take us to the place, where we want to go. But lets be honest, they have also negative aspects. Like heavy traffic in the morning, while you are going to work and in the evening, when you are about to go home. Cars also, like factories, produce poisoned gas in the air. So instead of cars, we should use public transport or a bike, in the name of our enviroment. And what about the factories? Well, we can't remove them from the planet, but they should be built in places, where is less forest and no cities near.

Motivation

For now, i have finished my high school studies, but my cookery qualification studies are still going on. These amazing years, what i have spent in a world of excellence in cookery are memorable. Probably the highlight for my studies was the opportunity what i found myself trough the Internet, during my 2 year studies. I had a rare chance to do my trainee period in well-known Jamie Oliver restaurant in London. That is Jamie´s first restaurant and also a place, where very many young students are trained to give them a better future. The period spent there is something what i would never change. Variety of cultures and thoughts, but one dream and a one team. What and inspiring place to be, to learn about food, cultures, different opinions on world, business and hospitality. Leaving from England was hard, for some reason a piece of me left there, so that was the moment i promised to myself, that i will go back to study in this multicultural environment

Positive sides of outdoor learning

Essay "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." Benjamin Franklin In the last few years outdoor education has become more and more popular worldwide and in Estonia too. While there are many definitions for outdoor education, I think the best way to describe it would be outdoor education is a form of education, when learning takes place somewhere else than a classroom and the subjects are not only about the environment and nature but also linked to the national curriculum. Outdoor education often takes place on a walk around the block, a visit to the cemetery or a local post office. It can happen at a city zoo, on a forest trail, or in a national park. These kinds of locations are conducive to first- hand experiences and these places can provide direct contact with the topic and also learning

James Watt

James Watt James Watt was born in Greenock on January 19 in 1736, the son of a ship's chandler. He worked in his father's shop and he developed an interest in trying to make things "work like clockwork". In his late teens he went to London to learn to be a "mathematical and philosophical instrument maker", and when he returned to Glasgow he got a job making instruments with Glasgow University, who gave him a place where to live and a workshop. In 1763 John Andreson asked him to repair an early steam engine he had bought. This early model, known as a Newcomen engine, was very unefective. The cylinder (where the piston was) had to be heated when steam was admitted, and then cooled again to condense the steam. This wasted a lot of time and fuel. Two years later, while walking through Glasgow Green, Watt hit upon the idea of condensing the steam in a separate place. This

It was begun between 1042 and 1065 when the English king Edward the Confessor built a church on the site where the abbey now stands. In 1245, King Henry III began work on the main part of what is now Westminster Abbey. Poets' Corner in the Abbey is a place where Britain's greatest writers are either buried or remembered with a memorial plaque. Spenser, Dickens, Kipling and many other great writers are buried there. William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde and others are remembered by memorial plaques. Great scientists like Newton and Darwin and famous military men are buried in other parts of the Abbey. Edward the Confessor & Westminster Abbey

negotiated with the rebellious Northumbrians in 1065. Thereof, shortly before his death, Edward named Harold as his successor even though he may already have promised the crown to a distant cousin, William Duke of Normandy. Edward's greatest achievement was the construction of a new cathedral, where virtually all English monarchs from William the Conqueror onward would be crowned. It was determined that the minster should not be built in London, and so a place was found to the west of the city (hence "Westminster"). The new church was consecrated at Christmas, 1065, but Edward could not attend due to illness. Some say, probably correctly, that Edward was a weak, but violent man and that his reputation for saintliness was overstated, possibly a sham perpetrated by the monks of Westminster in the twelfth century. Others seem to think that he was deeply religious man and a patient and peaceable ruler.

On his eleventh birthday he discovers he is a wizard, and soon afterwards goes off to study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which is where most of the action in the six books takes place. Giidindus- Toompea

TOOMPEA Toompea (from German Domberg – Cathedral Hill ) is a limestone hill with an area of about 7 hectares in the central part of Tallinn. It towers about 30-40 m above the surrounding areas. According to the legend it´s the tumulus mound over the grave of the national hero Kalev, erected stone by stone in his memory by his grieving wife Linda. It is the birthplace of Tallinn - a place where in 1229 the Knights of the Sword built a fortress instead of the wooden Estonian stronghold. Toompea Castle is also one of the most potent symbols of the reigning power. Today Toompea is the seat of the Government of Estonia as well as the Riigikogu, both of which are often simply colloquially referred to as Toompea. For centuries there was only one access to Toompea - Pikk Jalg - but there is also another way leading up to Toompea - Lühike Jalg, which was made in the 14th century

The role of the Secretary in business

Secretary is actually really important in the company. But what are Secretary's main tasks and why is she so important in business? I think that Secretary is very important person in the company. All clients and guests meet the secretary first so she is the first contact of the company and its reputations depends on how great is the customer service. She is like a business card of the company. Secretary greets clients and if needed, forwards clients to the right place. I think Secretary job gives a lot of variety of different tasks. Secretary has to communicate with all different clients, do paperwork, see if the company runs efficiently, to assist and advise the director in his everyday job. One of the reasons why I wanted to bocome a Secretary is that I like organising and I think I'm good at it, also I like documentation and paper work. I'd rather work as a

Kristjan Raud was one of the first Estonian artists who is brave enough to try and make his career in his homeland, although his talent and connections in the art world, established already during his studies in Germany and St.Petersburg would have enabled him to easily merge in either place. The long years of study in St.Petersburg, Dusseldorf and Munich ended in 1903 when Kristjan Raud settled at home. A great part of K. Stepihunt, inglise keelne kirjeldus

I like to read scince fiction, psychologyle and philosophical books. That makes my mind work other direction and lets me think over my consciousness. BOOK CONTENT So lately I have read a book named „Stepihunt”, author is Hermann Hesse. This book was quite lovely piece on art. Authors one side of her is in that book, as I have heard and read about it. When he wrote this book he had gun on his table every time. Same kind of thing is in this book, he thinked all the time razor he had. Place where all events took place was in German, stormy 1920. Book talkes about one man life who have two sides of himselfs. One side is human (that likes to live and enjoy life) and other side is wolf (side that you do not wanna be, makes you think about how sad life is, suicide thoughts included). Although book talks a lot about suicide and depressed life at first, but the more you read, the more things spins out. Like he finds herself in one pub, as he drink there

Letter travelling description

My dear Rashmi, I received your letter a week ago. I am sorry, I could not write to you earlier as I was but of station. During the winter break, I had a chance to visit Kolkata along with my uncle. I hope, my description of the visit of that great city will be a source of pleasure for you. It was my first visit to Kolkata. We stayed there with a friend of my father. He was a kind host. He took me round some important places of the city. Kolkata is a very big place. The streets of Kolkata are full, of the crowds of people. There is such great rush-of traffic that at first I felt quite confused. Kolkata is a city of fine streets. I liked the Chawranghee most of all. On one side it is lined by tall buildings and on the other by the maidan. The maidan is a great open park where large numbers of people assemble to spend their sweet evenings. In Kolkata there are many places worth-seeing. I saw the Government House, Fort William, the

Old Tallinn

Old Tallinn Old Town, a medieval walled city filled with old buildings and fortifications. The sheltered bay and the easily defended Toompea Hill made it a natural place to settle. Sometime about 1050 A.D. a fortress was built atop the hill, the first of many. In 1219 the Danes showed up as part of the Northern Crusade to subjugate the Baltics and convert the local pagans to Christianity whether they wanted to or not. The Danes improved the fortifications and expanded the town, which became part of the Hanseatic League, a trading organization of a hundred northern cities. The Danes sold Tallinn to the Livonan Order, a branch of the Teutonic Knights, in 1346

Rivaled only by Frank Sinatra, her recordings of work by Cole Porter, Ira and George Gershwin, and Rogers and Hart were incredibly successful. One of the early "scat" performers, Fitzgerald found a place among the growing jazz innovators, making recordings with such greats as Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, and Louis Armstrong. Her true genius, however, was not formal innovation or deeper expression, but artistic renderings of the enthusiastic songs of her time. "I'm very shy, and I shy away from people," Ella once said. "But the moment I hit the stage, it's a different feeling. I get nerve from somewhere; maybe it's because it's something I love to do." More than

list of World Heritage Sites in 1986 in a co-listing with Avebury henge monument, and it is also a legally protected Scheduled Ancient Monument. Stonehenge itself is owned by the Crown and managed by English Heritage while the surrounding land is owned by the National Trust.[2][3] New archaeological evidence found by the Stonehenge Riverside Project indicates that Stonehenge served as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings.[4] The dating of cremated remains found that burials took place as early as 3000 B.C, when the first ditches were being built around the monument. Burials continued at Stonehenge for at least another 500 years when the giant stones which mark the landmark were put up. According to Professor Mike Parker Pearson, head of Stonehenge Riverside Project:[5] " Stonehenge was a place of burial from its beginning to its zenith in the mid third millennium B.C. The cremation burial dating to Stonehenge's sarsen stones

Art and aesthetics essay

truly is in the eye of the beholder. The music of songbirds is not generally considered art to us, but to birds it may be. The study of beauty is something not easily perfected because there is no absolute and true single beautiful thing in the world. Ideas of what is beautiful and what isn't change quickly, one day something may be thought of as "in" and the next day "out." I have learned that beauty isn't necessarily a person, place, or thing. Beauty for the most part is a feeling it's internal, something in your heart or mind that makes you smile when you see, hear, or sense it. Something beautiful can give you a sublime feeling or may relax you in some ways, making you believe that everything is right in the world. Not all works of art necessarily create an aesthetic experience in us. For example when we look at a painting and all we can think about is to determine how much we can sell it for then

St. Charles Church (Kaarli kirik)

At first it was wooden and not very large, built in a Greek cross style. Traditionally, the church was named after the king that built it. In 1710, right before the invasion of the Russian troops and during the Great Northern War, the church was burnt down along with many buildings surrounding the city fortification wall. The destruction led to decreasing of the congregation - some of the members left to join other neighbouring congregations. Discussions about re-establishing the place began around the middle of the 1800s. By the end of 1850s, money was being raised collectivley in order to build a larger and more durable church for the use of Estonians. The construction lasted from October 1862 to December 1870, the two towers on the west side were enlarged in 1882. The architect of the project was Otto Pius Hippius from St.Petersburg. Along with the reconstruction of Tallinn’s largest place of worship, the Charles congregation was re-established as well.

What is needed for good society

other people needs and at the same time sacrifice some of your own needs. Good society is not a paradise. Universal access to human essentials means that everyone have the rights to access elementary things for living, such as: air, water, food, protection from harsh weather (clothing and shelter), and safety from harm. So these right-hand duds are major for good society, in Estonia these things are usual for some people, but not for anyone. In the world generally I still do not know any place where you can see all the people owning all of these things. So we are doomed. Some thoughts I found at internet: “If there are homeless people on the streets while rooms in mansions sit empty, we do not have a good society.” “If some are idle while others work too much, we do not have a good society.” Accessibility to other desirable Items means that there is also other basics that could be desired by nearly everyone

Australia

Because of the country's great size, the climate in Australia ranges from tropical regions of the Northern Territory to the cool temperate conditions in the southeast and Tasmania, where it often snows in winter. In the north, half the year is `wet' and half is `dry'. From November to April heavy rain fills the rivers and makes enormous lakes where thousands of birds come for the summer. From May to October it is often sunny and dry for weeks, and it is a popular place for winter holidays in the sun. In the hot, flat centre of Australia, there is an area called the `outback'. It covers more than two-thirds of Australia, but its population is less than 100,000. In some places, it doesn't rain for years. There are hills and big dry salt lakes, and it is very difficult to grow anything there. Many people live on sheep or cattle stations, a few of which are as large as the country of England
