Tourism report

There's plenty to do in this historic city. Tallinn really has a long history of its names and flag. There have been many rulers with different nationalities, so there are marks of their architecture too. There are very many positive things connected with that city: · Tallinn has a very special old town that you cannot find in any other countries. It has middle age architecture combined with little modern one. · Kadriorg palace ensemble is beautiful place, especially in Spirng when teh nature is ,,waking up". · Tallinn also has big shopping centres where you can take a cup of good quality coffee in some nice cafes. · Local people are quite helpful, so you can ask the way to somewhere wth no problems. But also there are some bad things, like: Restaurantes are quite expensive. In shopping centres there are some well-known brands that are more expenisve than in other european countries.

Do young people today learn enough at school to face the world tomorrow

Probably such school-leavers have only several opportunities for the future to become criminals, join local gangs or to control themselves and to do their best in studies. Such schools may be really named the schools of life because children studying there are forced to grow up earlier than others. Furthermore, present youngsters spend a great deal of their spare time sitting in Internet. They communicate, study and play games in simulated environment of the virtual world. That is the place where young people really get the most information. Internet has the only advantage comparing with schools, information from there never becomes out of date. Thus, we may affirm that youngsters don`t get enough information at ordinary school to face the world tomorrow. They get from there the base, the most information they can need. Then everything is up to themselves.

The invention of the car changed the world

The invention of the car changed the world People have learned to get by as comfortably as possible. They have invented all kinds of things to make their lives easier. One man in history did a big favour to all of us. That knowledgeable man was Henry Ford who invented a machine, which was called automobile. Nowadays it is known as a car. Inventing a car made our lives easier. Nowadays people can move much faster from one place to the other and it is also more comfortable. There are very many different functions of automobiles. They are used primely for transporting things and people as well. Cars are very useful for people, but not beneficial for nature. Year after year people buy more cars instead of taking a bus. Owing to this, the air pollution has been doubled up in few years. It's not only nature that gets damaged by cars. People could also get injured and some of them may even die in car accidents.

"Babel" My favourite film

"Babel" I have got a number of favorite films, but the last one that I have recently seen and really enjoyed is called the "Babel". In the scenes are playing Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and others. "Babel" is a Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-winning 2006 film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu and written by Guillermo Arriaga. The action of the film takes place in 3 different countries and all the events that happen during the film are interrelated. At the beginning of the film two Moroccan boys shot from rifle and this influenced a chain of events that link on American tourist couple struggle to survive, two Moroccan boys involved in an accidental crime, nanny illegally crossing into Mexico with two American children and a Japanese teen girl rebel, whose father is caught by the police in Tokyo. A review of a film

The bedroom door swings ominously open and closed and footsteps can be heard on the stairway. The films main focus relies heavily on sound and atmosphere. And a refreshing aspect lies in the minimal amount of special effects. As the camera begins to capture paranormal events, night after night, with increasing intensity, the tension is huge. Many of the scenes and camera angles are repeated since Micah places the camera in the same place each evening while the couple sleeps. Many of the shots are hard to see in the dark and often reaction shots are lost because the filmmakers were limited by one camera. However, this also lends to the realism. The film's intention is to scare you, and it succeeds largely because it looks and feels like stuff you find on YouTube, making the terror uncomfortably real. Is it the scariest movie ever made? You'll have to make that judgement for yourself ...

For and against Estonian troops on peace keeping missions

For and against Estonian troops on peace- keeping missions. I am sure that nobody likes war. Nowadays peace-keeping missions are becoming very popular. Different countries for example Estonia send troops to keep peace in some country where at this instant the war is taking place. But is it necessary? Some point of view peace-keeping missions are important. For example counrty what needs help, can be very weak and needs reinforcement. Also then Estonian forces knows, that if Estonia have foreign policy problems, then this country might helps us too. Secondly if Estonian troops are on peace-keeping missions, then powerful countries might see that our troops are quite practical and this increases our relationships with world countries.

have fun. Before the festival can start people set up tents and workshops in the Old Town. Some stalls are set up on the streets while others are located in the courtyards of historical buildings. People also make or buy costumes for the festival. Some dress up as simple peasants while others prefer to play merchants, soldiers and knights. During the festival the Old Town of Tartu is divided into three areas, each representing a different historical era. Most of the events take place in Jaani town which takes people back into the hanseatic times. The streets are filled with stalls where artisans are selling their products and there are also many different activities for children and adults. The River town is all about ancient times. There are blacksmiths demonstrating their job and healers selling different herbs. In Rae town people can get back to the modern days and relax in a restaurant, watch different dance and music performances or go shopping in the large marketplace

Meeting the wolf

Janely Plamus Meeting the wolf Many years ago on Sunday a young girl walked on a lonely road. The sun was shining and light clouds were in the sky. She was on her way home. Suddenly the sun disappeared and dark clouds appeared in the sky. She felt a little scared but didn't pay much attention on it. Before she could find any place to hide, it started raining. The weather was getting worse and worse until there were an awful thunderstorm. The girl had nowhere to go, she was frightened and started crying. She heard something moving in the bushes which scared her even more. She tried to be quiet and see what was in the bushes but she didn't see anything. As soon as she took a deep breath, the wolf jumped out of the bushes. He sniffed around and then started to move towards the girl

1. The most popular winter festival in Estonia is the same holiday, what is celebrated also in the rest of the world it´s Christmas and Christmas concerts in churches. 2. I think, Estonians do the same, what other people do in other countries. Estonians make the food on the Christmas table and eat it, go to church and listen to christmas concert and in the evening they exchange gifts to each other and spend rest of the evening with their most important people. 3. Estonians have simple and very traditional food : potatoes, sauce, black pudding, roast pork and also sober cabbage is a traditional food. 4. My favorite winter sports is skiing. I prefer it to others, because the other winter sports don´t attract me. I think this is the most classic and most spread winter sports. 5. I usually spend my winter holidays at home. I spend them with resting from school and also making sports. For example, if there is snow,...

Advantages and disadvantages living in a city

Also it is much easier to find a job in a big city, because there are many companies, which are located in a central city. Of course, public transport in a big city is much more comfortable, than in a countryside. There are also many disadvantages of living in a big city. In the morning the streets are crowded, because everybody has to go to work and they only use cars or public transport, which means that there are traffics. Sometimes it's hard to get from one place to another, because it takes hours! Also there are many crimes and violence at night, so you have to be careful. To sum up i think that i rather live in the city and when i feel, that i need to relax, then i just go to the countryside and take some time alone.

The school holiday

The school holiday – time for new challenges and adventures Changes and challenges can come in many forms. An holiday is the perfect place to try something new, to push yourself to a new limit and realise your dreams. You can do something that you've never tried before, like going to new places or take part of the adventure games. You can go to the gym or run every day 5 km. I like to go hiking in the woods or just take a daytrip to a city where I have never been before. The other possibility is to go for a mental challenge, like learning new language, or reading an interesting book

„As above so below”

A book review The book I read was „As above so below”. It was written by Peter Brugel in 2002. The book covers basically all of the generes: horror, historical, science-fiction, and romance. The bookis about six people in Paris, France in the 16th century. The two main characters know eachother. Their main reason was to get to the chatocombs so they would find the phylosofers stone and to get there they need people who know the place around. So they stumbled across three more people who would help them to get there. But the chatacombs has a paranormal power and some of the characters unfortunately die. The names of the main characters are Scarlet and George. Scarlet is a phylosofist and she knows many languages where two of them even are the languages of the dead. George in the other hand is stubern, but he is smart as well and he knows a different kind of language of the dead, which Scarlet doesn’t know. There

Description of an animal

trunks. The koala is one of the few mammals that have fingerprints. Koalas do not live in big groups, they rather prefer to be alone. Koalas consume eucalyptus leaves and bark from 12 different eucalyptus tree species. Koalas rests motionless for about 16 to 18 hours a day, sleeping most of that time. They can be aggressive towards each other, throwing a foreleg around their opponent and biting. Koalas have become endangered because their habitat is being destroyed. Besides having no living place, it has lost its source of food. As the Koala is an very fussy eater and almost only eats eucalyptus leaves, it has a limited supply of food choice. The Australian Koala Foundation is the main organisation dedicated to `'saving the koala''. Their mission is to provide the long-term conservation of koalas and their "home range", and to minimise current and future threats to koalas living in the wild.

For and against Camping holiday

In town there are too many pollute things which damage and is bad for your health. Walking is good our body, because when you walk then you burn the calories. In the wild nature your eyes are relaxing, they do not have the stress as in town. This kind of vocation is more cheaper than vocation in the spa or hotel. Most of camping places are free so you do not have to pay money for it. There are huge amount of camping places, all most every where in the country. You may chose which camping place your like, just go there and have nice healthy holiday. There also negative side of camping holiday. For example you need to transport the food or other stuff you had in backpack or in bag, because there are not cafes or other kind of places where you can eat. Even camping holiday has its barriers, but it is good for your health and it cleans your mind. So go and have an amazing camping holiday alone or with your friends and family.

Mistake

I promised to myself that I will spend at least half an hour a day to revise all the things I had learned in primary school. I had always dreamed of studying there. During the first week I could almost keep my promise and spent the time I wanted to spend on revising, but after that I got very lazy and did not keep up with my revising at all. So time went by and I did not worry at all about the entrance exams until the day they were already there. The examination took place in room 204. It lasted for 3 hours and I spent every last second of it, because it proved to be very difficult. A month later I received a letter from the school. The letter stated that I hadn’t passed the exams and so I had to go into a high school which I also liked but was not particularly my dream school. From that mistake I learned that if I really want something I have to go for it and never give up. For if I will not, I will regret it for the rest of my life.

Taxes

The higher the tax rates, more people are tempted to cheat. Some employers give highly paid employees lots of perquisites such as company cars, free health insurance, and subsidized lunches. Taxation Act in Estonia was passed in 2002. Taxes are divided into direct and indirect taxes. Direct taxes are income taxes, gambling tax, land tax, social tax and heavy goods vehicle tax. The income tax rate in Estonia is 21% and social tax rate is 33%. In 2000 a corporate tax reform took place in Estonia. The goal was to accelerate economic growth and make additional funds available for investment and the idea is that the moment of taxation of corporate income tax is postponed until the distribution of profits. The profit that is reinvested in the company is not taxed separately. Indirect taxes include value added tax(VAT), alcohol excise duty, tobacco excise duty, fuel excise duty and packaging excise duty. Standard rate of VAT is 20% but some goods enjoy reduced rate of 9%.

Contribution: the red fox

animal calves in April. OBSERVING FOXES Catching a sight of an fox in the wild is quite a challenge, because they have a lifestyle where they mainly move and hunt in dusk or at night. People think that foxes are cleaver because of their good hunting skills by escaping fast and mixing traces. During the hunt, they are very cautious. The red fox is very curious. When they see some interesting and unusual objeckt, such as a human, the fox can easely come to investigate. The best place to see a fox is in the coppices. In the winter, set out during the daytime, when it is still white outside and find a likely spot. Then sit quietly and try not to move much. If you are fortunate, these fascinating creatures may come quite close.

Panga Pank (Inglise keeles)

This is especially noticeable during storms, when the waves break against the underwater rocks, while the inside of the half-circle is calm. During bird migrations in the spring and fall, this half-circular lagoon is a favorite stopover point for storks on their long trip to and from Egypt, where most of them spend the winter. Sometimes there are well over a hundred storks, as well as other waterbirds, resting in the calm waters of the lagoon. Folk tradition ties Panga cliff as a place of worship and sacrifice for the ancient Saarlanders. It is known that until well into the 19th century, local fishermen poured libations of beer and whisky over the edge of the cliff, especially at midsummer eve, to ensure lots of fish during the coming year. There is a fishing spell that was chanted in Mustjala parish, and it says: "Come, come closer codfish to me. Bite my hook my dearest gray one. My hooks are silver, dipped in gold and slipped in lead."

Jumalaema kirik Pariisis - V.Hugo

Rahvas armastas neid uusi trikke ja jätsid mõistatsuliku võõra kõrvale. Just sellel hetkel tuleb narridekuninga ongkäik väljakule, Quasimodo eesotsas. Quasimodo kuulab sõna ja nõustub võõrale järgnema (out of the Place de Grève). Gringoire tunneb kohe ära Dom Claude Frollo Notre Dame'i piiskopi.

Oliver Twist

Review Oliver Twist Recently, when an English troupe came to Estonia to play Oliver Twist, we were lucky enough to go see it at the Salme Centre. The play was based on the book Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. They performed it in English, ofcourse, but what makes the play more interesting, is that it was in Old English. Thanks to the language, it took us back in time where the story takes place. It was hard to focus on the play, because of a girl who was sitting in the last row. She was laughing at all times, although the play had only a few humorous lines worth laughing. If you go to a theatre and you find the play boring, sit quietly and have some respect for other people. I really don't like plays where they cut down on the number of actors. Every actor should have only one role, so that they don't get their lines mixed and to really live into their character

Easter traditions in Estonia

make them fresh and goodlooking for rest of the year. After they dance and sing and dance traditional round dances. It used to be the only day when men stayed at home and took care of the house and children. Women colored their cheeks with a herb "naistepuna" ("women's red") and went to tavern to have some red liqueur. Celebrating spring contains more or less fertilizing rituals. As we have to do a lot of work to making something grow, these rituals have an important place in our traditions. It is not only necessary for getting a good harvest from your field but also having a lot of children who will work in your farm.

William Turner

of British watercolour landscape painting. He is commonly known as "the painter of light". Painting: The subject of the painting is the practice of 18th century slave traders who would throw the dead and dying human 'cargo' overboard during the middle passage in the Atlantic Ocean. Turner was inspired by two sources: by the Zong Massacre of slaves and by lines from James Thomson's The Seasons (The Zong Massacre was the name given to the mass-killing of African slaves that took place in 1781 on the Zong). The violent power of the sea and the strange sea creatures represent the forces of nature punishing the guilty. The painting was widely admired for its use of colour and the way in which sea and sky merge around the distant ship. In the lower portion of the painting, hands of enslaved Africans can be seen still shackled(aheldatud). Turner makes a particularly effective contrast between distant and near views in The Slave Ship

Exchange student

Our average school day is quite long, it starts at 8 o´ clock and ends usually at 3 or 4 o´ clock. We have a break after every 45 minutes for 10 minutes and we have two breaks that are 20 minutes long. During the break we study for the next lesson or just chat with other classmates. I feel very safe in our school, I think everybody is responsible because all of us can contribute in discipline and make our school a better and safer place to learn at. My favorite subject is math because our teacher teaches us very good and I almost understand almost. Usually I do my homework for 2 or 3 hours and I think it's quite a long time for me to prepare for lessons. And if I have problems with my studies I tell about it to my friends, they always help me when I have problems. I look forward to hearing from you With love your Uku.

Tourism a threat to the environment?

Tourism a threat to the environment? Tourism defently has affects to our environment. Size of effect depends on the population of the area visits, but it is not only thing that affects the nature. Tourism affects our environment positively and negatively. For example of positive effect would be that, people who organize hikes take care of pathways and camping places. If they had not built the camp sites for tourists there would be overgrown forest. So may say that thanks to the good and decents businesses are our surroundings clean and pleasant to everyone who like to spend some time and relax in wild. Tourism has a negative impact to environment if a large number of events are organized in a inappropriate sites. Usually people throw garbage and empty packages down when they stay overnight or just party. In addition too many people on one land may damage the plants under their feet. Besides nature decorative effect...

Harsher punishments will reduce the amount of crime.

amount of crime? Are harsher punishments the solution? Firstly I think that if the punishments are as weak as they are now, it won't make the criminals think. They get punished and still commit crimes. Probably the biggest punishment for a petty theft is community service which isn't much of a punishment. It gives the feeling that a person can do what he wants, live like he wants and nothing happens. Furthermore I think that the life in prison is actually quite good. A place to sleep, food and people. Many prisoners who get out of prison are not afraid to go back. They have a stable life there and they are satisfied On the other hand I strongly believe that everything starts at home. People who live in a criminal neighbourhood or in a family with criminal reputation, are not afraid of the punishments. They even find it kind of exciting and it is like a game to them. In conclusion, a big amount of the criminals would definitely think about

Pandemic - Studying during Covid-19

have the motivation and or the goal in mind then I don’t think there is a more self-disciplined person than me. Most people probably enjoy studying from home because they can wake up when they want to, wear what they want to, eat what they want to and so on. But for me it just ruins my routines and boundaries therefore I get lazy and I start to slack off. Also I don’t like bringing “work” home because for me coming home is for unwinding and resting, but if I have to study at the same place where I rest then it’ll ruin the balance . Comparing studying at home and at school, then for me I definitely prefer studying at school because a big con for me is that I can’t focus and study, I get too comfortable, there isn’t anything more that I don’t like, but it’s obviously a dealbreaker. I hope things get better and we don’t have to deal with this again.

Rules - in notebook, See alsoTB p 202. Write ab. 200 words. To: Ministry of Education From: Mari Mets, student of Mets Gymnasium Subject: The sporting facilities in our school Date: 2 February 2016 Introduction The purpose of this report is to give an overview of sporting facilities in our school and give some recommendations to improve it. My findings are presented below. Places and rooms Teachers would like us to be outside as much as possible, so majority of lessons take place outdoors. Students can have their lessons free at Tehvandi Sports Centre. In case of a bad weather we usually do our lessons in big and modern sports hall. Equipment Students can use different balls and other gymnastic equipment for free. If a student does not have skis in winter season, he or she can rent skis and ski boots without paying money. PE lessons Usually there are 2-3 PE lessons per week and 45 minutes long. Boys and girls are seperated and therefore students have different teachers

An event in my childhood

to bees. And because of that I may have saved his life. It all began on a sunny summer day at my grandfather’s country home. We had a dog back then and he had his own fenced garden with a doghouse in it. Me and my brother were just fooling around outside doing funny stuff. At some point he decided to go let the dog out. The poles that were holding the fence up were holo inside and the bees thought that it was a great place to make a hive in. I can’t remeber why, but my brother for some reason leaned over the fence pole and looked into it. That’s when my brother got stung near to his eyes. He immediately yelled at me that he can’t see and wanted my help, there was nobody else outside at that moment. So I ran to him and helped him to the house. Where our parents took him over and called the ambulance. In my mind I saved his life because I was the only one who could have helped him
