Our Man in Havana Book R

Book Report Graham Greene ,, Our Man in Havana" Liis Mägi, 12c I chose a book by Graham Greene titled ,,Our man in Havana". The reason why I decided to read exactly this book was that I found the plot introductory quite interesting and as I started reading I realised I was right. I found it quite humorous book, written in the third person and set in Havana, Cuba. The story is quite easy to follow. The novel was written right before the American embargo and the Cuba missile crisis of the 1960's, so the author was quite surely influenced by the political events at that time and created his own vision of the future. The main character of this book is Jim Wormlod, who is a vacuum cleaner salesman, but is offered a job in the British secret service by Hawthorne. He has to spy on Cuba for England

Thoughts on Air Pollution Essay

Air pollution Every day, the average person inhales about 20,000 liters of air. Every time we breathe, we risk inhaling dangerous chemicals that have found their way into the air. Air pollution includes all contaminants found in the atmosphere. These dangerous substances can be either in the form of gases or particles. Air pollution can be found both outdoors and indoors. Pollutants can be trapped inside buildings, causing indoor pollution that lasts for a long time. The sources of air pollution are both natural and human-based

ABOUT SERIAL KILLERS

[Your Name] [Instructor] [Class] [Date] ABOUT SERIAL KILLERS INTRODUCTION Let's play a quick game of catchphrase - guess the word. My phrase is two words, and describes a person. Charles Manson. Ted Bundy. Jack the Ripper. Serial killer - serial meaning "arranged in a straight line or succession" (1) and killer meaning "one who kills, or any agent used to neutralize the active property of anything." We tend to have a morbid interest in people who commit murder. Today, I'd like to explain what distinguishes serial killing from mass murders, how long serial killing has been around, and highlight some of the psychological traits common to serial killers. Letter of recommendation for (Nimi kellest sa teed seda) January 8, 2011 To whom it may concern: I had pleasant opportunity to study closely with Nimi for 10 years in (nt. Kool) and as a friend I have known her since as long as I can remember back at my life. I have always admired her self-consciousness and skill to work in a team. She knows what she wants and what she is capable of and works for her goals until she has accomplished them. The amount of her friends clearly shows that she is a person you can trust and always count on. During these years that I have known her she has shown that completing assignments on her own or in team is not a problem. Her ability to communicate with different people and self-discipline help her through any situation she may face. She is a very creative person and talented in arts. She has finnished (kool) of fine arts and her talent is incredible. I highly recommend (nimi kelle kohta) for whatever position she may decide to take up next.

Play sports and you get a lot more than a fit body

Sport has many positive effects on people besides having a fit body. There is a saying that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Team sports show and teach how to work in a group, how to communicate. People who play sports can release some energy in the game also and they will be calmer, their decisions will be more calculated. Training regularly will teach how to divide their time between school or a job and training. I think that sport is a good way to teach a person some responsibility and consistence, too. To make some improvement in a certain sport a person has to keep training consistently. I would say that playing sports helps everybody to keep fit but there is much more to it. If we keep doing sports, then our ideas will stay fresh and clear.

Friendship

having quality relationships increases your likelihood of being happy - so it's good for your happiness to be a great friend and to have a group of close friends surrounding you too. A good friend might be someone who's there to provide support when times are tough, or someone you can rely on to celebrate a special moment with you. Friends might come and go in our life, they might make us laugh and cry, but most importantly they love us for who we are. It doesn't matter what a person looks like or what kind of clothes they wear, but it's what's on the inside that counts. It's the actions they take, no matter how big or small, to show us how much of a good friend they are, and being there for us no matter what, even when things get rough. Friends are always there for us, to laugh with us in the happy times and to provide us with a shoulder, when we feel like crying. There is not a list of qualities you expect to see in a friend. Every friend has different

Art and aesthetics essay

10.oktoober 2011 Art versus Nonsense What is beauty ? Why do we find certain things beautiful ? Beauty is something that everyone is familiar with. It can't just be defined as something that may look good. It can be a feeling, a piece of art, music, or words. Anything can be beautiful depending on the person, beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. The music of songbirds is not generally considered art to us, but to birds it may be. The study of beauty is something not easily perfected because there is no absolute and true single beautiful thing in the world. Ideas of what is beautiful and what isn't change quickly, one day something may be thought of as "in" and the next day "out." I have learned that beauty isn't necessarily a person, place, or thing

 West Germanic languages → English, German, Dutch, Frisian, Afrikaans and Flemish. 2. How to classify words into different word classes? 1) One of the most common classification ways goes by the definition of words. Most of the linguists believe though, that this is not an absolute classification. Examples of definitions:  Noun is the name of a person, place or a thing. (I love this place).  A verb expresses an action, process or a state. (I love this place).  An adjective describes a noun. (This place is lovely). 2) Distribution test → Takes the context in which the word occurs in, into consideration. Also the whereabouts of the word in a sentence For example:  Kim is an engine driver. → Engine could mean either happy or a

what consequences they might have. I will also talk about some of the examples and point out actions everyone can take to minimize the chance of becoming a victim of an identity theft. What is Identity theft Identity theft is defined as the deliberate use of someone else's identity, usually as a method to gain a financial advantage or obtain credit and other benefits in the other person's name, and perhaps to the other person's disadvantage or loss. The person whose identity has been assumed may suffer adverse consequences if they are held responsible for the perpetrator's actions. Identity theft occurs when someone uses another's personally identifying information, like their name, identifying number, or credit card number, without their permission, to commit fraud or other crimes.[1] Criminals can even use seemingly harmless pieces of information, such as your date of birth, to commit identity theft. [2] The different types of identity theft

Tolerance and Diversity Nowadays people are cautious and like to be independent to choose who they want to be acquainted with. The origin of a person is usually top priority. However, some people do not care where their friends are from and what the colour of their skin is. "Tolerance" is a noun with profound meaning. It has been built on an individual opinion, on the influence of friends and how the society affects people. Human nature is one-sided, because they believe in exact stereotypes of people and try to follow them. Many characteristics are also immediately being added to the person's characteristics according to its origin

Banning smoking

Smoking is harmful to humans. The smoke contains many toxic agents. Smoking causes all sorts of horrible diseases - which can be fatal. Usually young people begin to smoke mostly out of boredom or large nervous tension. Many young people also want desperately to quit, but they will not be able to the more so because the body is accustomed to smoke too much, and if they can not reach your collection they become nervous. Smoking damages the nerve cells. If a person does not smoke anymore, he starts to heal the whole feeling in a few days. Physical form and stamina will increase slowly. Economically, the person holds a total of smoke at the expense of thousands of euros a year. When people stop smoking, lose many of their jobs. Capital Punishment should (not) be abolished

With this sort of punishment county sets itself at the same level as the criminal and this may increase aggressiveness and lover the value of human life. People who support capital punishment have as good arguments as those who are against it. Capital punishment helps to preserve people's belief in justice and the power of law. It also may help preventing wild justice. For this kind of punishment is the fact that public opinion has always supported it. It would be cynical to decide whether a person dies or lives based on financial consideration. If a person makes a crime, which is very well thought of and premeditated (as for homicide) capital punishment, in financial point of view, would certainly be cheaper, than his lifelong deportment on taxpayer collect. It is hard to take one position, for there are pros and cons to be considered. But as far as I am concerned, capital punishment should not be abolished. Especially for premeditated and harsh crimes.

Essee - Smoking Should Be Banned in All Public Places

It is certainly tue that treating people with smoking-related illnesses costs millions of dollars a year. Many people who have gone down the road of smoking don't have enough money to pay for their treatment. Another point in favour of banning smoking in all public places is the fact that passive smoking is very harmful. A lot of people and not only adults but children too who don't smoke may not even have an idea that being close to a smoking person can be very dangerous. One argument against is that the police has better things to do than to enforce a smoking ban. Smoking is something that all people won't just quit and the trouble for the police for punishing all of them is just too big in quantity. Also you can't force people to stop smoking if they don't want to. Smoking is a habit but it isn't very easy to quit and all of the smokers don't necessarily want to do it either.

not. It seems unfair to me. On the other hand, I find that getting paid for chores could be rather good motivator for younger kids. In the world full of computers and TVs we are getting lazier day by day. Children nowadays may need this motivating. If there were more difficult jobs, they would understand how hard it is to earn money and how precious it is when you have earned it. In conclusion, my opinion is that it is very individual, whether a person should earn his/her pocket money or not. Obviously, it can be very instructive. Children's parents should decide whether he/she should get paid. I think that if a person is old enough to understand he does all those domestic jobs for himself he should not be paid.

You are what you read

On the other hand I think that the topic should be You read what you are, beacause you choose what you want to read. Let's take the same UFO example. If you are a realist, then you'd choose a book that says that they aren't real, but if you're someone who likes fiction then you'll probably choose a book that says they are real. And so it seems that you decide what you want to believe and be, based on what kind of a person are you. I believe, that I am someone, who likes to read both sides of a story and then decide whitch one seems more plausible. All in all I have to say, that all about reading depends on what kind of a person you are. So noone can tell you what you have to read or believe. Thank you for listening.

School Uniform is a bad thing To start with, school uniforms have many good sides for students. However, uniforms also have bad sides which are particulary involved with financial problems. Each and every person in the world is different, and by making people dress the same, they can't express themselves fairly the way that they would like to. Having school uniforms is not necessary, and there are many reasons to prove it. Some people say that wearing a school uniform stop the bullying, because all children wear the same clothes. But it's not true - the bullys and other evil student will always find another reason to make somebody feel bad - like glasses, pimples or overweight.

I have buddies who don't care about big presents if they can see me in person. I couldn't say that one friend is better that thousands of them, but if all my friends were somehow magically in one person, I would have to change my answer. THANK YOU

The sale of human organs

The sale of human organs A lot of people sell their organ or even organs. That wonders me, do i want to sell my organ to somebody? In my opinion, selling organ to somebody is a good thing. I love to help people out, and if i have healthy organs, then why not to give one organ to somebody who really needs it? I think that it doesn't matter who the person is, i would give it to him/her, if he/she needs it. However, there are some people who are against to it. They think that this is too abominable and they will never give their organ to somebody. However they still say that they will think about it, when I offer them money. A lot of money. Isn't this weird? A lot of people will do everything to get money, they even agree selling their organ to somebody.

Inglise keele eksamiks- Role Play

Once you have finished, you will be moved on to the next task. The interviewer will hand you a card with a task on it. You will read it to yourself. You will have 1 minute to think about it. You will be told when the time is up. Note-taking is not allowed at this stage. Role play is interaction! Interact naturally with appropriate openings, responses, fillers, amplifications: 1. Make an introduction use the task; identify yourself, say what you want to know and whether the person is willing to talk to you. For example: - I'd like some information about the hotel, please. Could you please give me more details about it? - Can you do me a favour and ......... ? - Do you mind if I ask you some questions about the admission requirements? - Is it all right if I ask you some questions about ... ? Mind the register! 2. Ask different types of questions. 3. Do not forget to ask a reported question. 4

Inglise keele essee teemal: ,,Senior high school students – old enough to live on their own?\'\'

and washing the tableware, also all the phone-, water- and electricity bills to be paid or the simple fact that you have to buy everything from the food to the toilet paper - all by yourself. This may be too difficult to high school students. So you might end up using large amounts of alcohol or some illegal substances to relax more in the weekends. On the other hand there are also advantages. It's a great chance when the person realizes all the responsibility that he or she has to deal with. But you are not alone, there always be some support from home by helping you with cash for the food and rent. I do not think the main advantage of living all by yourself is partying, friends and girls I think the main advantage is that you can get some warm-up for mature life. Finally, senior high school students, are they old enough to live on their own or not? It depends on person, could he live on his own or not

The topic Im going to speak about is marriage

The topic Im going to speak about is marriage. There is an opinion that some peoples say that an arranged marriage is the best option. I dont agree with that argument, because in a couple who wants to get married they should love each other, without love in my opion there is no sense to marry. A wedding is something that happend with every person in our world. People need to understand this and take it as seriously as possible. I understand that there are many religions and cultures, but the points should be the same. In conclusion want to say, that everyone makes his choice. Anyway i welcome the choice of each person and with this impossible to argue. Some people say that everyone should use public transport instead of cars. Do you agree? The topic im going to speak about public transport. There

CHANGE YOUR THINKING CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Many people have contributed to my thinking and have been invisible guides as these chapters came to- gether. I would like to first thank my friend Mark Victor Hansen, who introduced me many years ago to Emmet Fox, perhaps the finest spiritual thinker of the twentieth century. Ernest Holmes, founder of Science of Mind, opened my eyes and heart to the incredible universe of potential contained within each person when they changed their thinking and changed their lives. Great spiritual teachers such as Charles Fillmore, Neville, Eric Butterworth, Wayne Dyer, and Roberto Assagioli have had a profound influence on my thinking. I would also like to thank those great practical thinkers on suc- cess who have had such a wonderful influence on me—and on the world—such as Napoleon Hill, Maxwell Maltz, Claude Bristol,

Losses of our life

Losses of our life Losing is an everyday phenomenon, whether you lose a sock, a pen or your keys, but aswell things, people tend to get lost too. Some are found and alive, but some are not, and it´s a tragedy. I can´t imagine losing a beloved one, it would be awful, but so many of us have to face this terrible situation, where you don´t know if the person is safe and alright. As always, there are situations where the person doesn´t want to be found, or where she/he disappears without a trace. The reasons of disappearing are very variable, from criminal cases, trafficking in human beings, getting recruited as prostitutes to very hidden and deeply personal matters. The average amout of missing people in Estonia is 199 persons per year, although 70% of the missing persons in 2001-2005 were found alive, luckily. In 2007, night before 24th of June, a 19 year old girl Maris Järve was lost in Pärnu, she

Advantages and disadvantages of taking a cap year - essay

But, is it the best choice? What good or bad could that do? For sure one year makes a difference, it can make people lazier, but it can also give time to think about his/her future plans. There can be many reasons for a gap year: money, people go to work or some people go to the army for not taking a year for the army during studies in the university or just being tired of school. I think that a gap year is almost the only option for a young person to have a little rest, to enjoy young life, because life never becomes easier and the next chance to stretch out could be when we reach our pension time. To go on a bit longer holiday abroard with best friends is for sure expensive, but I think that it would be the time to remember. A gap year can change the option made earlier which subject a student wanted to study in university, and maybe it is the only time when a student is able to think what he/she really wants.

Liis Naptal 11A Describing a person Liivia is my aunt. She is also a good friend of mine. I have known her all my life and we know a lot of each other. That is her kindness that has attracted me. Most people would say that she is very pretty. I think they are right. She is not very tall, I would rather say she is of medium height. She has a good figure. That means she is slender and athletic. She is in her twenties but looks exactly like an eighteen year old. Grace is a very attractive, thin-faced and rosy-cheeked girl

Different nations

cultural conflicts. It should be easy and good to live in a town full on different cultures, but it may cause some trouble to. Countries with rich diversity usually do not have a race problem.Small countries with only one or two nationalities can be the centre of such problem. The people in these countries do not have any experiences with other origins people, because they aren't used to it. When they see, for example, a black-skinned person ,they start whispering. However, people who grew up in countries with wide diversity, are much more tolerant. They meet different origins and skin colours every day. Different cultures make the country interesting place to live. They can introduce their customs and culture to others and in time the cultures blend and become one. Different people have dissimilar religion. They believe according to their beliefs. Usually people follow their religion and do not tolerate other beliefs

How the right of privacy was viewed in the 1890s and 2010s.

Essay How the right of privacy was viewed in the 1890s and 2010s. Comparison between two articles by Warren & Brandeis and Julie Cohen The two articles have questioned - What is privacy ? The simplest answer would be that the privacy is a human right and like in the first article by Warren & Brandeis, they quote Judge Cooly who sayd that, the privacy is the right to be let alone. This means, that a person is free to go and do what ever the person wants, no one has a right to harm him/her physically or mentally and vice versa. What ever the person decides to do, nobody else has the right to know about it without persons premission. Julie Cohen starts her essay with a point that privacy has the image problem. In the world where there is no mobile platforms, data mining social meedia, in simple words the internet, its easyer to leave the
