My home town of Valga

Valga town is a pearl waiting to be discovered. In the south, Estonia shares a border with Latvia and here Valga town is split in half, the northern side, "Valga", belongs to Estonia and "Valka", on the southern side, belongs to Latvia. For years, this created a complicated situation where members of one family, even living on the same street, may have had different citizenships and had to go through customs and border guards in order to visit each other. Fortunately, after both countries joined the Schengen zone, border points were removed and Valga-Valka is fast overcoming the separation issues. Two different currencies languages and cultures still remain, making the town an interesting holiday destination. Where else could you stand, one foot in one country, holding "jäätis" in your left hand and other foot in another country, holding "saldejums" in your right hand?

Such as four-chambered heart, hair, they are warm- blooded. They are the only mammals, other than seacows , that live their entire life in the water, and the only mammals that have adapted to life in the open oceans. It should be easy and good to live in a town full on different cultures, but it may cause some trouble to. Countries with rich diversity usually do not have a race problem.Small countries with only one or two nationalities can be the centre of such problem. The people in these countries do not have any experiences with other origins people, because they aren't used to it. When they see, for example, a black-skinned person ,they start whispering. However, people who grew up in countries with wide diversity, are much more tolerant. They meet different origins and skin colours every day. People who does not have their own life

People who does not have their own life I think everyone in their life has things that annoy them. So have I and I have lots of stuff that annoy me, maybe too much. In this essay it would be impossible to describe all of them, so I will try to explain the most irritating thing. I really can't stand people who stuff their noses into other people's things. For example when two people are talking privately and then the one interrupts them and asks: "What?", "When?", "Who?","Why?". If its done once, nobody cares but when someone all the time and everywhere needs to know what others are talking about well it's kind of annoying. And then there are these kind of people who smoothly move from one group of people to another group of people and collect any kind of information like bees collect pollen so afterwards they

Pros and Cons of the European Union

On the one hand, the European Union gives benefits to Member States. Firstly, it is easy to travel from one Member State to another, live, study or even work there. Secondly, there is no need to change money because most Member States use Euro as the common currency. Thirdly, thanks to the European Union food products became safer and phone calls to European countries cheaper. Furthermore, if somebody has own company, it is easy for him to offer his products and services in other Union countries. Finally, all of the countries work together to protect the environment and to fight against the global problems, such as terrorism. On the other hand, the joining into the European Union brings some cons for country. Firstly, despite the poor state of the country, it has to help other Member State, if it has some kind of problem. Secondly, prices on food for example can grow up, because of despite the European Union has a single market. Moreover, it

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist?

Do you consider yourself more functionalist or more conflict theorist? Please explain why? Functionalism and conflict theory are very different views of society, but they are not exactly opposites. Both have arguments, that make people think about the society they live in and both have theorists who critize each other. In my opinion, none of the theories are completely wrong but I do tend to agree with people on the conflict theory side. Firstly, functionalism ignores inequality and focuses too much on the positive functions in society. For example racism, functionalists will say that it must be imporant in order to exist as long as it has but in my opinion that sounds quite doubtful. The most problematic part about racism is above all the tension and conflict which comes with it

There are about 24 million Negroes in the country and over 800,000 Indians. Many of the inhabitants come from Mexico and other South American countries. The United States is a federal union of fifty states. The original thirteen states were the successors of the thirteen colonies that rebelled against British rule. Most of the states were carved out of unorganized territories, with the exceptions being Vermont, Texas, and Hawaii; each was an independent republic before joining the union. The invention of the car changed the world

how tough fellows they are. Often boasting like this can cause big devastations, meaning accidents and all kinds of fines, not mentioning times, when a driver might be under influence of the alcohol, which is definitely the worst possibility of all. But that´s the world we live in and when we meet such an unusual situation, we´d have a fair opportunity to say that cars have a badbad influence on our welfare society. In the other hand for example in the winter mornings, looking out of the window is cold enough to send shivers down to our spines,we´d thank the lord that there is a warm car in the garage, ready to take us to school or work, without beeing frozened. Everything has it ´s own good and bad sides, which often compensate eachother. It´s hard to discuss how important something is about one thing and how ,,nothing" is the other thing. In that situation we have to make compromises and stay tolerant.

To Protect or not Protect Minor Languages

To Protect or not Protect Minor Languages Minor language is a language that is spoken in a minor area in a territory. For example Estonian is a minor language, because it has so little amount of speakers, just over a million comparing to German that has at least 100 million native speakers. Many minor languages have been mixed together or been developed from other languages. I think that the minor languages should be protected, because with languages come with a part of culture and if we terminate the variety of cultures that have developed throughout the evolution of mankind then the world would be boring. There would be no languages to learn, no foreign songs to sing and no joy of knowing that you can speak to a foreigner in his mother tongue. Also people are more friendly and open to you if they can speak freely in their mother language.

Many newspapers and magazines feature stories about the private lives of famous people

about people? Nowadays a lot of newspapers and magazines contain stories, different facts and pictures with famous people. Some people think that only magazines should feature private life of famous people, but others think on the contary. This essay will show both sides. On the one hand, it is appropriate for a newspapers to write some information about famous people. People , who are intrested in famous people’s lifes want to know about their achievements, goals or other important things, than read about how they spend their holidays in the resort or with whom they go to the football match. Newspapers should offer more serious information, that readers may fill their minds with some necessary and interesting facts. Futhermore, newspaper`s journalists should focus on facts and checked information, not on gossips, that people are available to rely on newspaper`s articles. On the other hand, magazines are more focused on social news of famous people`s lifes

Friends have more influence than family

Mikk Ludvi 10.a Parents always want best for their children. However when people are teenager they don't want their parent's advises or opinions .In this period the most important thing in young adults life is being popular, having more friend, more parties or more fun. For them parents are only bar to achieve that. Parents don't influence their children and they don't understand each other. Therefore I think teenagers are influenced by their friends more than their parents. Teenagers can get along well with their peers easily because they have same expectations about life. In school, in their social life they always with their friends. They can understand each other because they have same viewpoýnt and same experiences. For example, when you have a boyfriend you can't share it with your father easily because he tries to protect you. Probably he said that you are too young

How does the United States influence Estonia?

How does the United States influence Estonia? As one of the world leading countries the United States influences Estonia in many ways. The United States has a lot of influence on Estonia in politics, culture, technology and of course it still continues its influence. The United States of America is one of the biggest countries in the world that can actually influence the world in many ways. For instance when the United States goes to war, every other country that has singed a treaty has to join him. Even when the States are in dept they can have major influences on the rest of the world by bringing everyone else down to. A lot of business goes through the United States and when some deals go bad, a lot of other countries have to suffer because of that. The United States is often referenced to “The land of opportunities” because people can earn a living out of everything. Cultural impact is also remarkable

If you had to use two words to describe Canada, they might be large and diverse. Canada is the second largest country in the world with a territory of about 10 million square kilometers and it is bordered by three oceans: the Arctic, the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans. The population of Canada is about 31 million people. About 77% of the people live in cities which lie in a band about 100 miles wide above the border of the United States. The capital of Canada is Ottawa. Other large cities are Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Quebec. Canada has two official languages English and French. It's interesting to know that about 61% of Canadians name English and 24% French their mother tongue. Power Destroys Ideals

After the rebellion was held, the animals invented the seven commandments for the future life of the farm. At first they managed to follow the rules but suddenly one of the pigs, Napoleon, decided that he wanted more power. He made Snowball, who was the leader before him, leave the farm and usurped the power. All of the animals were brainwashed. Napoleon was a good manipulator and made animals do everything he wanted them to. He and some other pigs moved to the farmhouse although it was agreed from the beginning that no animal should go in there. Pigs also slept in the beds and did other things that they were not actually supposed to. Pigs were smarter than other animals, so they secretly changed the seven commandments and tricked the others so that they did not understand what was going on. Napoleon acted like a cruel dictator and changed the life on the farm into chaos. In the real world it is all the same

Summary

Pakistan. Most of the information about drone attacks is coming from dubious Pakistan media, which we cannot seriously rely on. Hence, we cannot be sure if the persons killed by drones were innocent civilians or extremists. (Fair, 2013) One the one hand, using drones can be more discriminate, because they hover over the enemy for hours and wait for the perfect moment to attack, when there are no innocent people who might get injured. (Beautmont, 2012) On the other hand, it means that after watching and killing their targets, they continue hovering over villages, which affects people’s psychology. (Owen, 2013) New York Times journalist David Rohde, who was kidnapped by the Taliban, said that: “The buzz of a distant propeller is a constant reminder of imminent death.” (Owen, 2013) Because of the drone-induced anxieties, most kids in Waziristan no longer attend school. People avoid daily activities such as grocery shopping, farming, and driving

Position Paper The Kingdom of Belgium

The Kingdom of Belgium Sten Nurmsalu, Tallinn German Gymnasium Position Paper for the First Committee of the General Assembly I. Addressing and Preventing the Growing Threat of Lethal Autonomous Weapons. The Kingdom of Belgium recognizes the serious threat of Lethal Autonomous Weapons. Permitting machines to take human life in warfare or in law enforcement and other circumstances raises a host of serious ethical, legal, moral, societal and other concerns. Autonomous weapon systems, as defined, are not specifically regulated by International Humanitarian Law treaties either. However, it is undisputed that any autonomous weapon system must be capable of being used, and must be used, in accordance with IHL. These weapons don't yet exist but are under development in several countries. Once they are created, it may be too late to stop their use.

Silicon Valley Could you reproduce Silicon Valley elsewhere, or is there something unique about it? It wouldn't be surprising if it were hard to reproduce in other countries, because you couldn't reproduce it in most of the US either. What does it take to make a silicon valley even here? What it takes is the right people. If you could get the right ten thousand people to move from Silicon Valley to Buffalo, Buffalo would become Silicon Valley. That's a striking departure from the past. Up till a couple decades ago, geography was destiny for cities

For me, marriage is a very important event it makes people care about each other more and understand each other better. I have thought about it to marry in distant future. But before is needed to finish the school. It is not enough, because be some time before that to live together. Must also find a good and rewarding job, because weddings arevery expensive at this time. But if two peoples want to get married then money is not an obstacle. True love can not compare with money and it does not have possible to buy with money.

"chemical element Neon"

It changes from a gas to a liquid at -245.92°C and from a liquid to a solid(tahke) at -248.6°C. Chemical properties NEON Neon is chemically inactive. So far, it has been impossible to make neon react with any other element or compound. Uses Neon has relatively few uses. The best known use of neon gas is in neon lights. Today, neon signs of every color, shape, and size exist. A neon light consists of a glass tube filled with neon or some other inert gas. The gas contained in the sign tube determines the color of light given off. The color given off by neon itself is reddish-orange. Neon lighting was invented by French chemist Georges Claude (1870-1960). Claude displayed his first neon sign at the Paris Exposition of 1910. He sold the first neon advertising sign to a Paris barber two years later. Neon lighting is now used for many other purposes. For example, neon tubes are used in instruments used to detect electric currents

The Art Week was originally initiated by Tiina Meeri, who is still working in our school and still organizes the week. At the beginning there were no countries, just certain time periods of history. The Art Week has some traditional events, such as the play "Moving Pictures" which tells the story of the theme country. At the opening ceremony, people from embassy come to congratulate and thank the students for their efforts of making such a big event happen

Why does Marx elevate proletariat? Do you see Wright doing the same? What do you think why?

Why does Marx elevate proletariat? Do you see Wright doing the same? What do you think why? In Karl Marx’s eyes, the society was divided into two classes – the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. He considered bourgeoisie to be the upper class and proletariat the lower class, also known as the working class, which he elevated and believed more in. On the other hand, a man named Erik Olin Wright had a different set of mind. Firstly, Karl Marx thought that proletariat was more powerful than bourgeoisie, because he believed, that if there would be a revolution one day, then it would be carried out by the proletariat. In work, Marx saw a form of human self-expression, which the capitalist mode of production did not allow to develop. He claimed, that the pressure would arise interest in economics and politcs

Turkey and the European Union

wealthier, more developed and more stable. Turkey is not alone in that sense. All members came into this Union with the same motives. Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Czech Republic, Malta... Regardless of how big and powerful, prosperity and stability are the most important reasons. There is nothing strange in Turkey's aspiration for membership. However, Turkey offers a remarkable difference than other members. Turkey has certain qualities that no other member has. It does have material expectations from the EU, on the other hand, it has so much to offer to European civilization that other members cannot offer. Turkey is not only a ,,demanding" party vis-à-vis the EU. It also wants to contribute. It has the features that can ease Europe, on the verge of yet another edge, to leap to the next stage. In this respect, Turkey has a request from the EU not just for itself but also for the future of Europe and the whole world

Today, the Maori have adopted western lifestyles but have actively been encouraged to keep alive their culture, language and art. Other ethnic groups have arrived from Polynesia (Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands) with Auckland now being the Polynesia capital of the South Pacific. quite good reasons for that. The experience on the island changed all of them and when they were finally rescued everyone went home as sort of different persons. In the beginning when boys had just discovered that they are alone in this paradise island they were all innocent and longed for rescue but towards the end they gradually turned into savages who painted their faces, hunted and were willing to kill each other. For example in the third chapter all boys are still civilised and enjoy the beauty of the island when Simon finds this magical open place in the jungle that represents the innocence that still exists on the island. Then in chapter eight when Simon visits this jungle glade again he finds a sow's head on the stake there. The fact how this setting changed during five chapters is described in a quote from chapter eight ,,The other time the air had seemed to vibrate with heat; but now it threatened

Interview with Chinese lecturer

Since then she has taught in various universities in Tallinn. In her opinion the main differences that affect the teaching of Chinese in China and Estonia are the purpose of teaching, the authority that the teacher has, and the language environment of the country. In Estonia one of the main purposes of teaching Chinese is to increase the knowledge of China and Chinese culture in addition to the teaching the language. In China on the other hand the purpose is often to increase the ability of students to survive in the society, find work, and do business. The lecturer believes that the amount of authority and respect the Chinese language teachers receive from overseas students in China is related to the purpose of teaching. In China, the Chinese language studies often hold more importance for the students, since most of them have come to China from poorer countries in Asia hoping to earn more money and have a better life in
