However, the People's Republic of China does not recognize dual citizenship and considers the naturalization of a person as an American citizen to imply a renunciation of PRC citizenship. On the other hand, the Republic of China does not view naturalization in other countries as an Chinese nationality.According to the 2006 American Community Survey, 2,580,117, or 74%, of those who identified themselves as Chinese Americans on the survey are citizens.[15] Secretary of Energy Steven Chu is among the several Chinese Americans to have won the Nobel Prize. Sheep senses and social cognition

species as can be imagined and any serious consideration of their cognitive, social and general mental faculties deemed futile. I can give example about sheep memory. Every summer, just about time when apples are cooked, my mothers sheep flock goes to find appletrees. They could go there every season and after winter in barn it would be obvious that they wouldnt even remeber but they do. What senses do you think sheep has? Sensory discrimination abilities and their uses Sheep like other species have adapted thier senses to achieve remarkable discrimination skills. These allow them to identify importnant individuals and objects in their environment and communication of social signals. Popular belief tends to emphasise the absolute importance of smell for sheep in line with many other mammals, however as we shall see this another misconception with all three major senses playing essential roles. Vision Sheep depend heavily on their vision

Agatha Christie "Partners in crime"

The woman had told him that she had been in two places at the same time and she had unbreakables alibis to prove it. Tommy and Tuppence found it very difficult to prove that she was not in one of the places. Finally, they discovered that she had a twin sister. I chose this book because I had not heard about these two before. At first I thought that it cannot be as good as Miss Marple or Hercule Poirot stories but it is. I think I like it even more than the other stories by Agatha Christie I have read because the characters are very lively and humorous. The book consists of many mysteries. They all differ from each other a little bit and that is fun to read. There are not only murders but they also discovered a gang of counterfeiters, a gang of drug smugglers, a jewel robbery etc. They are all solved with cleverness and a bit of luck. It is called Partners in Crime because they always help each other

Story about English Humor

Story about English humor At first, I have to say that English humor is very frightening and quite shocking for us, Estonians. But if to talk about British people and their humor then for them, it's more than everyday life. It is something they are use to see and hear every day, day after another. They do not take it that serious as the other nationalities would and they are definitely the best laughers at themselves. The brightest memory I have from those two videos is that guy in the wheelchair. Unbelievable how selfish and rude they are! And no-one can do anything about that. If they say so then all the people around them have to act like they wish. They are absolutely innocently taking the advantage of other innocent people. Certainly we cannot talk about all disabled people from that point of view, but the exception

The marine life is a large resource that offers tourism, research and recreation for many countries across the globe. Marine life helps to determine the very nature of our planet. All the Deep Sea Animals along with other organisms such as algae and corals contribute to the oxygen cycle and regulate our earth's climate, this is why the marine ecosystem is considered to be very delicate and it needs to be protected. All these animals live in saltwater habitats. They live in or near rock pools, the ocean, beaches, mangroves and sand dunes. Thatś what friends are for

That what friends are for Friend is a person who accepts you for who you are and not because what you have, a person who corrects you when you are wrong and shares with you your good moments, as well the bad ones. That's what friendship means. The purpose of my article is to describe my friendship. To begin with, friendship is not made overnight, it took years for us to become friends. We had known each other for over four years but then we did not socialize with each other. We started to interact more after fifth grade. Now we have been friends for seven years. Secondly, the best words to describe my friend are helpful, confident, cautious, patient, tolerant all the qualities that a friend should have. He listen me if I have complicated situations and supports me in every way when it is necessary. Lastly, I am glad that I have a friend in my life. We are not only friends at school but we see each other when we have free time

Jazz

Jazz is a type of lively music with strong, complex rhythms. It's earlier expression is said to be ragtime. Jazz was first played at the beginning of the 20th century by black musicians in New Orleans, Louisiana. Jazz began with a basic trio of musicians: a cornet, a trumpet or a violin and a trombone. Below this there was a guitar or a banjo, sometimes a piano and drums. Jazz musicians often accent or add notes or beats in unusual or unexpected places. Also they add other elements of black music such as blues and ragtime to make a unique American music form. Musicians make up tunes as they play. Jazz music has changed, and today there are many different forms of Jazz. Ragtime, famous musicians from that time are Irving Berlin, Ben Harney, Scott Joplin. Then there are dixieland famous musicians from that period is Louis Armstrong. In the 1920-s to the 1930-s there were European jazz and Swing, famous musicians were

Emergency situatsions, in case of fire

Keep yours in your kitchen, near enough to get to it quick, but not too close to the fire to reach it. Check it regurally to insure it would work properly if needed. · In the event of a larger fire, announce "FIRE!" loudly to everyone and gather all the people immediately and ask them to go out of the house via the nearest safe door or window. Do not re-enter the home! · If you are inside and don't know if there is fire on the other side of a door, test the door before you open it. To do this, kneel down to stay under the smoke levels. Reach up around half way up the door, and touch the door with the back of your hand. If there's a fire on the other side, it will feel warm on the knob and around the cracks. Do not touch the handle or other parts of the door with your palm, as you may burn your hands. If the door is warm, try another escape route.

Should advertisements promoting alcohol be banned?

buy it. Usually people do not think that it looks good only on TV and those drinks are harmful for health. Furthermore, advertisements promoting alcohol show that drinking alcohol makes people cooler and parties better. In these advertisements all the people are smiling, nobody is angry and everybody feels at ease. But in real life these parties are not so good, some people, who are really drunk, start to fight with other ones. Also, it is not unusual for some people to end their party in hospital. On the other hand, there are lots of people who drink alcoholic drinks only when they are eating. They do not want to get drunk and they drink in small amounts. In this case, advertisements have not such a great influence on them. Maybe they want to try out other brands, for instance. In conclusion, I feel that advertisements promoting alcohol should be banned.

Computers should be used while studying

Nowadays there lots and lots of jobs which require atleast basic knowledge about computers. Therefore, it is important for them to have computer skills atleast at basic level. Secondly, using computers while studying can speed up the learning and also writing process, because it is known that the youth can find a missing word or a phrase on the internet in a matter of seconds. Also, they write a lot faster on computer than by hand, so it can drastically improve the speed of learning. On the other hand, students do not always use computers for learning. They use them also for playing games and communicating with their friends which can be really big factor of disturbance of the studying. Moreover, the students who use computers for other reasons than studying do not pay attention to the process of studying. In conclusion, I believe that the computers should be used while studying, but there is a catch. Computers should be used by only the students who can control themselves and not

George Orwell "Animal Farm" essay - "Human nature exposed in the novel"

decisions and acts. The pigs started altering the Seven Commandements for their own well-being. They changed them to make their life more enjoyable and comfortable. It's also in humans' nature to tell lies just to inluence other's opinions, to make them look good in someone's eyes or just because telling others something they want to hear or believe grows a certain kind of respect and belief in people. Another technique Napoleon used to increase his power over other animals was telling bizarre and libellous stories of Snowball. This motivated other animals to work harder and as a unit against Snowball. This brainwash is something people tend to do, not only in politics, but also in everyday life. They come up with a specific goal that everyone pursues so they would get people's support, respect and commitment. In addition to get people under someone's control by telling them lies, it is in human nature to use specific attributes for their own benefit

features (e.g. the Roman Empire, the Enlightenment) that affected many European languages, including the Romance languages, in similar ways. So the identity of these languages as a group is due at least in part to features of their lexicons. To discuss this we need some terminology for talking about word-formation and diachronic lexical changes. The main grammatical mechanisms that languages have for creating new words are derivation and compounding. Some languages prefer one mechanism over the other. These mechanisms are fairly systematic and predictable and hence tend to feature in discussions of language structure. Derivation generally involves the use of affixation of various types, e.g. getting the noun derivation from the verb derive. Compounding involves putting together two existing elements of the lexicon (normally "content" words rather than grammatical words and affixes) to create a new word, like matchbox. In both derivation and compounding

English Parliament and Elections

Describe the British Parliament Works in a large building called the Palace of Westminster aka The Houses of Parliament. There are offices, committee rooms, restaurants, bars, libraries and even some places of residence. Two large rooms: The House of Lords meet in one and the House of Commons in the other. The British Parliament is divided into two houses, but the House of Commons is obviously more important and only they are considered to be the MPs. In the House of Commons there are just two rows of benches facing each other. On the left sit the members of the governing party and on the right sit the opposition. The Speaker sits between them and controls the action. The arrangement of the benches encourages confrontation between the government and the opposition. There is no place for somebody

Wonders of the modern world

I am sure that today's world wonders are not the same that they were years ago. World has gone on and so the same way is with wonders. In my opinion, the most needed wonder is Internet. It has developed quite quickly. Most of young people can not live without it. Youth can communicate each other and they can also find some necessary information. There are also some elderly people who need the Internet. Usually they use it to do work, but older people also use it to communicate with other people like friends or colleague. Some elderly people may use the Internet even more than some youth. I guess that next wonder can be mobile phone. It is also very needed thing. People can call wherever they are. Mobile phone does not have any cables. There are very different phones and each people can choose mobile what likes him. Phone is used in different ways some people use it to talking, other use it for playing and some want to show others how good or expensive is their mobile.

Wildlife under threat Giant panda The giant panda lives in a few mountain ranges in central China. As a result of farming, deforestation and other development, the panda has been driven out of the lowland areas where it once lived. The Chinese language has given the bear 20 different names, such as ,,large bear cat'' or ,,bamboo bear'. Unlike other bear species, pandas have round pupils. Pandas are known for their large black patches around their eyes, ears and across their round bodies. Male pandas can weigh up to 160 kg and females can weigh as little as 75 kg. The giant panda's thick, wooly coat keeps it warm in the cool forests. It has strong jaw muscles and teeth for eating tough bamboo. Giant pandas are generally solitary. Each adult has a defined territory and female pandas do not tolerate each other

They became farmers and businessmen who coped with the Indians and in 1621 had a big dinner to thank the Indians as they had helped them to survive the hard winter. That day is now known as Thanksgiving and is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November in America. More and more people arrived. Tarantula

Tarantula are a group of hairy and often very large spiders belonging to the family Theraphosidae, of which approximately 900 species have been identified. Some genera of the tarantulas hunt prey primarily in trees and other genera hunt on or near the ground. All tarantulas can produce silk; while arboreal species will typically reside in a silken "tube tent", terrestrial species will line their burrows with silk to stabilize the burrow wall and facilitate climbing up and down. Tarantulas mainly eat insects and other arthropods, using ambush as their primary method of prey capture. The biggest tarantulas can kill animals as large as lizards, mice, and birds

For and against modern technology for communication

For and against modern technology for communication From time to time the technology for communication has developed forward. The developing has its good and bad sides. The positive side is that it is faster and more comfortable because we have the Internet. The Internet is used similarly around the world.because of its low cost it is a good way to communicate with friends and family, especially contact with those who are far away for example in other countrys. On the other hand many people work with the Internet because it is the fastest and easiest way to contact others and send files. The other way of modern communication is to call somebody by mobilephone also you can send SMS's to others. Mobilephone is good when you are not at home because everyone can catch you by calling. But the Internet also has its negative sides. The main problem of it is the spreading of viruses. A virus on your computer can cause that the computer to collapse. And then

Reasons why human beings are unique

"I am become death, the destroyer of worlds." So said the physicist Robert Oppenheimer, who helped to invent the atomic bomb. The two bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 killed around 200,000 Japanese people. No other species has ever wielded such power, and no species could. The technology behind the atomic bomb only exists because of a cooperative hive mind: hundreds of scientists and engineers working together. The same unique intelligence and cooperation also underlies more positive advances, such as modern medicine. But is that all that defines us? In recent years, many traits once believed to be uniquely human, from morality to culture, have been found in the animal

What is needed for good society Good society needs three things. These things are: rudimentary democratic consent, universal access to human essentials and accessibility to other desirable items. If these aspects are not fulfilled; it is not a good society. In my opinion, good society is not the thing what suits for everybody, because if you will not agree with good society standards, you really are not the person who would be advantageous for this kind of society. Pros and cons of social networking

It makes people feel like they are not alone. However the con to this is that social media causes people to spend less time interacting face to face. I think it’s not good because if they are always in social media talking with friends then people can’t interact with people outside the internet. If the people are not used to speaking in real life then it could be difficult to impress yourself with words to other people and because of this it could be difficult finding a job. Social networking sites help students do better at school. It helps students browse quickly the information they need and not waste time on searching from millions of books. It helps students do homework faster and then they can have free time to do hobbies. It could also provide distance learning due to sickness or travelling. But in the other hand it’s bad because

"FRIENDSHIP"

Friendship Everyone has many acquaintances, but not all of them are friends. What is that something that makes people call someone a friend? People value different characteristics of others, but it is certain, that a true friend has to be reliable, honest and understanding. Aristotle has said that without friends no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods. I agree with him. I think everyone needs a friend. What is the benefit of money and all other goods if you have no one to share it with? A friend can be your family member, your neighbour, classmate or even your dog. It may be weird to consider an animal as a friend, but people who have a dog or a cat should understand what I mean. Whoever tells that animals do not replace human, may be right, because they can not advise you.

Aborigeenid (Inglise keeles)

There is evidence suggesting Aborigines in northern Australia maintained trade with some of the Indonesian islands closest to the coast. Chinese and Arab's may have had contact with the Aborigines in the 15th century. When British people came to live in Australia, they decided that the land was empty, that there were no people living there. This was called "Terra nullius", Latin words for "empty land".Under British law, all land belongs to the king, who is then able to sell it to other people. The sacred sites and other land which had belonged to aboriginal people for thousands of years were simply taken from them. If they did not leave peacefully then the new settlers used force to get them to leave. Many aboriginal people were killed during the settlement of Australia. The aborigines that were left were made to live on in special areas, reservations, that the government set aside for them. One of these was at Lake Tyers, Victoria

Comparative law

Zealand, and Hong Kong, to name a few, operate under common law. Aside from Great Britain, the majority of the countries in Europe operate under a version of civil law modeled after the Roman legal system created centuries ago In a common law system, the law is created by precedents set after judges decide actual cases. When a judge hears a case that has a new issue in it, the judge makes a decision regarding the issue in the case. That decision then becomes a precedent that must be followed by other courts with equal standing within the legal system. The precedent remains law unless and until a higher court overturns the decision. The practice of following decisions made by other courts for similar issues is known as stare decisis. In stark contrast to the concept of stare decisis and precedent found in a common law system, decisions in a civil law system are to be made based on a corresponding statute, in theory.

Merde Actually

novel when the Anglo-French relationships were at their worst during the Iraq War spring 2003. Therefore his novels (he has written three in this series) have become enormously popular all around the world, especially because they are partly true. Stephen Clarke himself still lives in Paris with his French girlfriend. This novel is considered to be seriously funny and a comedy with a message. "Merde Actually" has one main character whose name is Paul West, but there are also many other significant characters, that come from the previous book "A Year in the Merde". I can say that it would be better to read the first book of this series first, other wise some jokes and thoughts might stay incomprehensible. This novel starts with a description of how and where Paul West is going with his girlfriend Florence. As known, in France, the summer holidays are quite long for working class; therefore a lot can be done. Anyway, Paul and Florence start their holiday by going to

Social network

In September 2012 Facebook had over billion active users and more than half of them were also using Facebook on a mobile device. Facebook's latest research shows that the most popular mobile device used for visiting m.facebook.com is iOS and by the popularity the second most used device is Android. Using Facebook on your mobile device raises the potential of your account getting stealed. It is so because most of the users don't use safe connection so all your data is available to other users on the same network. So the very first thing you should do is to use safe connection by adding to the end of this word ,,http://" (which you can find in the beginning of every webpage) an ,,s" so the address should be like ,,https://". The second thing you can do is that if you own the Wi-Fi access point then you should definately put a password to it because then others that don't have a password can not connect to your network

Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus, Letter to Ferdinand and Isabella Regarding the Fourth Voyage (1503) [Jamaica, July 7, 1503] Of Española, Paria, and the other lands, I never think without weeping. I believed that their example would have been to the profit of others; on the contrary, they are in an exhausted state; although they are not dead, the infirmity is incurable or very extensive; let him who brought them to this state come now with the remedy if he can or if he knows it; in destruction, everyone is an adept. It was always the custom to give thanks and promotion to him who imperiled his person. It is not just that he who

Spain Culture presentation

The Spanish culture is rich, colorful and mysterious. Its culture and lifestyle differs tremendously from that of the other European countries. Bull Running: Every year in July thousands go to Pamplona to start Spain's most famous bull-running fiesta to honor the saint San Fermin. Runners, mainly young men, gather at the bottom of Santo Domingo. Then, a number of fighting bulls are let out onto the streets. The bulls run along the narrow street to a bull ring. The runners dash along in front of the bulls, trying to avoid getting gored by their sharp horns

Complaint

Complaint This February I planned a roundtrip flight for 4 travellers from Anchorage to Toronto from 4th of July till 13th of July 2014. After buying the tickets from the Internet (tickets.ua), I decided to pick seating for all of them. In February, I found a link through the airline webpage where I could easily pick seating for each of them. I sent my 14 year-old son on the trip with his grandfather and I wanted them sit next to each other because it was his first long flight. Furthermore, my son specially asked if he could have seat by the window. Under these conditions, we finally chose their seats and booked tickets. I received a conformation on my email after booking the tickets and everything seemed to be okay until May. My son noticed they no longer had their seats available for them anymore. He thereupon sent an e-mail to a LOT' Estonia representative to clarify the facts. In response

Crime in Estonia

in Helsinki in 1985. In December 2006, it was estimated that Estonian criminals were responsible for 140 robberies of jewellery and watch stores in Finland, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Sweden during the last three years. The value of the lost property is estimated to be 25 million Euros.[1] Today transnational Estonian organised crime is predominantly about smuggling drugs, alcohol, and other illegal or high-tax goods from Russia to Finland, Sweden, and elsewhere in the Baltic Sea. Estonia is a relatively safe country, although there are some situations, where people should be more careful crime has been increased lately. We could count different type of crimes, but most common are smuggling and robberies. Many people like something, what do not belong to them. On the one hand, news are talking about shoplifting, bank robbery and vandalism. The biggest robbery was some
