Tourism - good or bad

Tourism-good or bad ? Nowadays in many countries, tourism is one of the fastest growing industries and it can bring enormous advantages to countries, especially poor ones. It may seem that tourism bring only benefits, but further consideration shows that it also has disadvantages. To start with, tourism offers many benefits. Tourists spend money on local goods and services ,so the area can get much money to develop the other essential public services, for example education and health. Also tourism services such as roads, bars, hotels, restaurants and other leisure facilities are built. Thanks to it, local people can get more jobs

Motivation

Personal statement ,,Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage." - Ralph Waldo Emerson This quato, mentioned before, gives me confidence to do great things myself in life and pursue them into bigger ones one day ahead. In these moments i like to remember what Napoleon Hill once said: ,,If you can´t do great things, do small things in a great way." The things is, that everyone has to start somewhere, to find their own way in this life-that is the reason why i am writing this letter at this very moment, to let you know, that i am ready to make a change. To introduce myself, i would use one word-determined. I am 19 years old girl from Estonia and i live in two cities at the same time

Sheep senses and social cognition

Some vertical vision may also have been sacrificed in order to have a wider field of vision. For example, it is doubtful that a sheep would be able to see something in a tree. There was a research about sheep recognising faces and genders. Pictures of sheep and humans were shown. Sheep was supposed to choose between face images in order to gain access to the real individuaal whose face-picture had been seen. The sheep chose sheep faces over human ones and familiar sheep faces over unfamiliar ones. For the studies was used only female sheep. So when they were sexually interested they chose male faces every time. Color perception Contrary to previous thought, sheep and other livestock perceive colors, though their color vision is not as well-developed as it is in humans. Sheep will react with fear to new colors. Hearing Sheep have excellent hearing. They can direct their ears in the direction of a sound. Sound

Thatś what friends are for

That what friends are for Friend is a person who accepts you for who you are and not because what you have, a person who corrects you when you are wrong and shares with you your good moments, as well the bad ones. That's what friendship means. The purpose of my article is to describe my friendship. To begin with, friendship is not made overnight, it took years for us to become friends. We had known each other for over four years but then we did not socialize with each other. We started to interact more after fifth grade. Now we have been friends for seven years. Secondly, the best words to describe my friend are helpful, confident, cautious, patient, tolerant all the qualities that a friend should have

Churches in Tartu

Churches in Tartu There are about 29 churches in Tartu. Some of them look like modern churches, but a large part of them are old ones. Here is Tartu St. John’s or Jaani church. Tartu St. John's Church, which was built in the 14th century in Gothic style, is one of the oldest in Estonia; moreover, it is unique in Europe due to its many original terracotta sculptures. Numbering around a thousand, these 700- year old sculptures were largely hidden till the 1950's. The entrance to the church is free, but if you're looking for more than old sculptures, a view, then it costs. Access to the viewing platform costs 2 euro per adult

Should advertisements promoting alcohol be banned?

buy it. Usually people do not think that it looks good only on TV and those drinks are harmful for health. Furthermore, advertisements promoting alcohol show that drinking alcohol makes people cooler and parties better. In these advertisements all the people are smiling, nobody is angry and everybody feels at ease. But in real life these parties are not so good, some people, who are really drunk, start to fight with other ones. Also, it is not unusual for some people to end their party in hospital. On the other hand, there are lots of people who drink alcoholic drinks only when they are eating. They do not want to get drunk and they drink in small amounts. In this case, advertisements have not such a great influence on them. Maybe they want to try out other brands, for instance. In conclusion, I feel that advertisements promoting alcohol should be banned.

What do scientists think about yetis?

because scientists noticed that no one would go up Himalayas and make a lie. One more report was sent from a team of hikers who climbed Mountain Everest. Most scientists believe the Yeti does not exist because there are no final results found yet to this answer. As to the evidence found by explorers that seems to support the existence of the yeti, none has yet help up to scientific investigation. Such as the footprints that were believed to be the ones of Yeti was left by bears. A skull was found but it was not the Yeti's but a goat. A fur that must have been the Yeti's skin was supposed to be a Blue bear's skin. Since these evidences are not as firm as always, it would be hard to tell the Yeti No. So far there are not much facts or evidences to be proven true.

Paper-based media will soon be replaced by online media

Paper-based media will soon be replaced by online media The technology is always improving and that is why it is believed that in the future internet will be the alternative to today’s newspapers and magazines. I agree with this statement. First of all because this development would save customer’s money and I think we shouldn’t have to pay for our daily news. People who don’t want to pay for the newspaper are already checking the most important news online which are usually free. Another reason for this progress is that online newspapers have been made so easy to access. There were times when people could only get their newspapers by mail or from store, but now they just have to find Wi-Fi and use their gadget to be able to catch up with the latest news. In addition, even the most frequently published papers are only distributed once per day. This simply means that papers can’t compete with the Internet, because there w...

around the campus. Since there have been coming in students from other countries, I'd like to point out some good places where all young people could meet and greet. The usual locations are of course concerts, sport and any other clubs but in case you have some kind of a hobby, you should dig out where you could meet people with the same interests. Our school has always had many interesting events through the year and here are some of the near future ones: A lot alikes banding together doesn't matter weather you're an athlete, a cheerleader, a musician or a writer, you are not the only one, so school is supporting different activity clubs. New cafeteria's opening we do need places to eat and drink! Autumn ball as soon as everybody has mingled together they can start dancing! The few things I really suggest are when in class, look around, remember the faces and in every chance introduce yourself

A book worth reading

handsome boy Augustus, who, full of metaphores and mystery, catches Hazel’s attention immediately. As the plot evolves, these two spectacularily appalling figures get close and share unique experiences. Together they help out a friend dealing with the loss of a girlfriend, travel to the Netherlands to meet Hazel’s favourite author and much more. Unlike any other teenage-cliche movie it has a tragic, tearful ending, that makes a reader realize and value the existance of her or his own loved ones in life. What author John Green has managed to achieve is the realistic description of heroic cancer figthers with all the ups and downs of a teenage person. The book is full of witty humor, heartbreaking happenings, making a reader laugh, cry and smile again within only 313 pages. I thoroughly recommend this book!

Most needed professions in estonia in 21st century

All adults should have jobs. That means that they need to choose a profession. Some professions are more needed in our society than others. Nowadays in Estonia we need mostly newer professions, connected with computers and things like that, bust also some older professions... The most needed profession is builders. The cities grow and new buildings are being razed. When you walk in the streets then you can see everywhere that some buildings are being repaired, or some older ones are being demolished to make space for newer and bigger buildings. Some old houses are being restored like they used to be in the past. In the Centrum new and modish glass buildings are being constructed. That gives the builders and all the people connected with construction and building jobs. And we need more of those people in our society. The second most needed profession is connected with computers. More growing

Thanksgiving

had a good harvest every year. Governor William Bradford invited the Pilgrims and the Indians to share a Thanksgiving feast to strengthen the bond between them. They accepted. The celebration lasted 3 days. The holiday was a great success. Later, Thanksgiving was celebrated in all the colonies of New England. In 1863 President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it a national thanksgiving. The modern Thanksgiving turkey is much like the ones hunted in Plymouth. Squash, corn, pumpkin pie and Indian pudding appear on the Thanksgiving table. Today Thanksgiving lasts for 4 days. It's a family day and also a day of hospitality and giving.

Should people prefer going out or staying at home that is the question.Every person is different. Many people are in love with the TV set and they cannot love without it. The other ones prefer to keep busy themselves with outside doings. I think that people should go out more, because indoor lifestyle is getting more popular than ever.Young people are getting more lazy, because they have everything what they need to communicate in their homes, and they do not have to go out to meet their friends.I think that many people use their leisure time in wrong way. They sit in their homes and they don't do nothing useful. They watch television and sit in front of their computers. Then they eat and srink some junkfood like popcorns and coca-cola they are not healthy people. Many doctors are worried of children, because they are overweight and their eyes are damaged. ...

He immediately yelled at me that he can’t see and wanted my help, there was nobody else outside at that moment. So I ran to him and helped him to the house. Where our parents took him over and called the ambulance. In my mind I saved his life because I was the only one who could have helped him to the house, that’s because we were the only ones outside. I’m really proud of what I did and without him my life would not have been the same.

What can be done to prevent petty crime?

What can be done to prevent petty crime? Nowadays more and more young people have started comit petty crime and people believe that thouse can be prevented. I support this view for a variety of reasons. To start with petty crime can be prevented with teenagers, the problematical ones in particular should participate to educational courses organised by the state where they can learn everything about these petty crimes an also how to avoid getting in the middle of them. It is very important to organise this meetings in the poor districts where teenagers are prone to ilicit activities such as pickpocketing or even burglery. Another method of reducing petty crime is that the people should learn how to protect their houses and their valuable goods

The euro in Estonia

Luckily there haven't been any complaints yet. The reason I chose this political concern is its contradictoriness. I myself dislike the fact that the kroon is "leaving us" but I hope that in the long run it will seriously benefit us. According to Conjuncture Institute's research 39% of respondents don't care about this issue. 34% of responses were negative and only 25% positive. Most of the negative responses came from elders and the positive ones from people aged 30-49 years. They say the positive side of euro is for example that comparing prices is easier in euro area countries and the transaction costs will decrease. They also affirm that euro improves the standard of living - I hope they are right because at the moment Estonia is one of the poorest countries in the European Union being ahead of only Poland, Latvia and Lithuania (based on statistics of 2004).

Stephen wiltshire

The local press became increasingly suspicious as to how a young child could produce such masterful drawings. The media interest soon turned nationwide and the 7 year old Stephen Wiltshire made his first steps to launch his lifelong career. The same year he sold his first work and by the time he turned 8, he received his first commission from the British Prime Minister to create a drawing of Salisbury Cathedral. In February 1987 Stephen appeared in The Foolish Wise Ones. (The show also featured savants with musical and mathematical talents.) During his segment Hugh Casson, a former president of London's Royal Academy of Arts, referred to him as "possibly the best child artist in Britain." Casson introduced Stephen to Margaret Hewson, a literary agent who helped Stephen field incoming book deals and soon became a trusted mentor. She helped Stephen publish his first book,Drawings(1987), a volume of his early sketches that featured a preface by Casson

Children aren't the only ones who need all this, teachers need it too. Children need long holidays. In summer they can go on vacation with their families and visit all the interesting places. Some kids like water parks and amusement parks, some are interested in museums. They can also visit relatives. Friends and Friendship

Dear listeners, From young age, people are taught that friendship is very important and you have to look after your mates. But people understand it differently. Some make good friends with everyone, but others find one true friend to be nice with. Is this one friend then better than thousands? My best friends were left in kindergarten. The four of us were invincible. We did everything together and we were enough for each other we didn't let other children to our games. In games as well as in learning, I had 3 great supporters and everything was easy and fun with them. Everyone grows up, so did I and my buddies. Unfortunately we grew apart, because it is hard to meet between all the schoolwork and hobbies. Few appointments at primary school are completely gone now and all of us have found new friends. I didn't find really great friends from my class until about third grade. I went dancing with two classmates and I was conn...

It is better to be sensible than sensitive

IT IS BETTER TO BE SENSIBLE THAN SENSITIVE In my opinion it is better to be sensible than sensitive. I think so because I am more sensible than sensitive sensible person than sensitive. I think it is better to be sensible because to me, sensitive people seem to be very moody. They offend quickly and have hard feelings. I have a friend who is very sensitive and he gets mad at me for nothing. If you are a sensible person, then it is easier for you to communicate with other people, because you don´t scare them away with your emotions. Nobody likes to hang out with capricious friend. If you are very sensitive, you show all your feelings to others. It is not a good thing because when others always see your feelings, they see your weaknesses. And then it is easier for them to hurt your feelings and make you unhappy. Sensible people are clever and smart and they find their way out of difficult situations. Even i...

The invention of telephone

The invention of telephone The telephone is one of the greatest inventions in history. Early telephones were nothing like the ones we have today. Telephone is the Greek word for "far sound." Before the invention of telephone, people used fax, postal letters and birds to communicate. Alexander Graham Bell was an eminent scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who intented the first telephone. His mother and his wife were both deaf and that was the main reason which caused his interest to hearing devices. Bell invented the telephone by accident when he was trying to invent a device that could send more than one telegram at the same time. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated with the telephone in 1876. The first telephone didn't have a bell, so the caller had to tap the phone with a hammer to let the receiver know a call ...

Estonia vs England

Kingdom is a monachry with a queen and Estonia has a president. From an economical standpoint, United Kingdom surpasses Estonia is most sectors, we can take the GDP as an example, when UK stands at 2.629 trillion then Estonia only stands at a low of 38.94 billion. That’s a huge difference, but we should concider another factor. When Estonia stands at the bottom ten of public debt, having one of the lowest ones in Europe then United Kingdom is at the top thirty, with its public debt being 89.30 percent of the GDP. Natural resources can benefit a country greatly, if the country was lucky to enough to have anything valuable as in oil. United Kingdom is way more lucky at this point as they way surpass Estonia in natural resources. As United Kingdom has gold, iron, natural gas and so on. Estonia’s only natural treasure really is oil shale that they used to make electricity and peat.

opportunity to citizens to have their opinions heard and be considered. Moreover, some people suggest that being free mean material independence. If a man provide himself (materially), he is able to act as he wants to do it. In spite of having many advantages, being free may also be harmful for certain people. The most important disadvantage is that too much freedom in children`s upbringings could cause a big variety of problems of person`s character in the future life. For instance, that young ones, who acquit themselves ill in childhood and are not punished by parents, can connect their life with crime in after years. Another negative effect of being free is loneliness since nowadays youth wants to stay free of marriage as long as possible. Not all of them understand that such attitude towards others results being not only free, but also lonely. To sum up, I would like to say that every person is a small part of our society, therefore we should be useful for it

Capital punishment (essay)

Sandra Demitseva Capital punishment The opinions on capital punishment are usually based on justice and moral. There are people who believe that an ideal community should be merciful even to the ones who have not shown mercy, but there are also people who think that violating the rights of fellow members of the community, particularly if it happens consistently, should be punished as severely as the death sentence. Most Christians are firmly against capital punishment, because they believe that there is some good in every person, even if he does not show any regret for what he has done. Not all people are as mature as to have such forgiveness in them. On the other hand this type of

and fast and ofcourse, when something important happens on another side of the world, people can read information about it after 5-10 minutes, not like with newspapers, where information is available on the next day morning. I can say that, not like others, I prefer old-fashioned newspapers, because of the feeling what reading them offers. For example: fresh newspaper, which smells good on the table, morning coffee, turning pages and reading pleasure. Newspaper is exclusive. Only chosen ones can in the newspapers, space is limited and stupid comments below the articles are missing. Instead of these are readers letters, jokes and some famous person´s opinion. There are no advertisements and you don´t have to click anywhere. People are talking a lot about diying newspapers. In 2009 Vockees Media Research made a research, where 293 USA newspapers died because of financial crisis. 230 of them were weekly newspapers. Advertisement, which feed newspapers, is moving in internet.

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ?

Computerised world – a better or a worse place to live in ? Although computers are said to be one of the most successful inventions there are many people who do not totally agree with that saying. Computers are able to do everything that make our life easier, but why are there still so many different opinions about ones' usefulness? The positive side of having computers in our life is how much it actually changes our life and makes it easier. There are no problems, I mean literally no problems that computers could not do. Computers are used to find information, read news, study, and some even play computer games. But to be exact, computer is not only that small box that stays under our desks or the lap-tops that are well known today. Computers are everything automatic that surround us, for example nowadays there are no cars made without computerised parts. Even shopping would not be even close to like it is now if we would not have al...

sorrowness and pain that has been inflicted . In the other hand, many people cannot live with knowing that someone just died for the things one did, just becuse of a slight malformation, which had nothing to do with his free will. Now he is dead. Does it make the feeling any better, or did it delete all the ill memories or anger? The only answer is : no, it did not. In conclusion a capital punishment is not the best way to punish a man. All the ones, who have been sentenced to death, have claimed just minutes before dying, that death is just the thing they want and they are very satisfied with it, and this knowing has even encouraged them to commit a crime. In their minds, a life-time prisonment is more severe than capital punishment. If convicts say that death penalty is more a relief than a punishment, so why on earth is this act allowed?

Report - Occupational diseases

diseases. The most alarming occupation is proven to be driving with a tractor. The percent of the diseases among the tractor drivers is shockingly 69%. Next come the car drivers and farmers. The percent of the occupational diseases among their area of work is 33%. Less alarming, but still worth mentioning, are the sewerage workers (8%), the excavator drivers (7%) and the welders (5%). Conclusion: In conclusion, the most concerning occupations are the ones that are dangerous, because of the chemicals or the machinery. Also the occupations, where the worker has to do one thing repetitively or for a long time; like sitting or lifting and/or holding something for a long time. The solution in my opinion is to offer more health care to the alarming occupations and also informing workers, how to avoid different occupational diseases.

Chihuahua (inglise keeles)

They need a lot of movement and therefore are more suitable for more active people. They're sure that all the attention and care should be narrowed to them. And get easily offended when people don't pay any attention to them, they'll show it off by ignoring your callings. Health disorders This breed requires expert veterinary attention in areas such as birthing and dental care. Chihuahuas are also prone to some genetic anomalies, often neurological ones, such as epilepsy and seizure disorders; and luxating patella. Due to their small size, even tiny high fat or sugary treats can result in an overweight Chihuahua. Ideal marriage

downs. I think it would be useful for all couples to rather wait a while before getting married, and not to make any haste decisions when it comes to something as serious as wedlock. All points considered, the main tip for having an ideal marriage is finding the right partner and being honest and straighforward with them. Respect and communication are vital parts to any wedlock, especially successful ones. Furthermore, the more mature the relationship is with your partner, the more likely it is you will have a happy and strong marriage.

Traveling

other languages and communicating with people. Some people only travel to learn history of other regions. For some people, this is the main point for travelling, yet others try to experience the culture and visit as many sightseeings as possible. Also it brings in good money, especially when the country or an area is attractive and good weather is guaranteed. That money could be used wisely, like building new sightseeings or renovate the old ones. However, it brings us not only benefits, but also dangers. Some tourists don't respect the places they visit and they dump trash or vandalise. There is also a danger of overcrowding and epidemics. The most popular places to which people travel are mountains, seasides or warm countries. The advantage of tourism is the mutual cooperation of the tourists and people who are working in this business. I have traveld into two countries :Finland and Latvia. Both trips was class trips

Methods students should adopt to select the right university

Methods students should adopt to select the right university Ones choice of university will affect their life both socially and professionally so it is important to make a wise decision. Finding the perfect university or college can seem challenging at first because of the endless opportunities offered. The course range given to students is extensive and the decision can be difficult due to a broad spectrum of higher educational institutions. When choosing the ideal university, it is essential to do research as early as possible and take it rather seriously. First, one should try to narrow down the possibilities by a simple process of elimination. By figuring out the area of study and other relevant elements like the size or location, the decision will most likely become simpler. It is important to remember that no university is good at everything and has particular areas they specialize in. The more time and effort ...

Why did I choose university education over vocational training?

carried out and many of them recommend choosing vocational training over universities or going to the university only if you have plans for your future career. Relying on the last point before mentioned I have to say that I chose university education over vocational education because I have had a dream of becoming a real estate developer and broker since my early childhood and there was no specialty available that would support my dream job. Also, in Estonia the ones who are not the sharpest pencils in the drawer and just want to learn some specialty often choose vocational schools as, then they have less struggles when finding a job in the future. To sum up, I have to say that I agree with the research that advise to go for higher education in case you have special careers in mind and not all of us should use the possibility of free higher education as we are lacking of jobs that require tertiary school education.

Rules are to be followed-disagree or agree?

Then in my opinion, there are certain rules, which kind of topics are allowed or not allowed. For the small talks you can`t talk about politics or money. Also bragging isn`t polite.Safe topics are for example asking about pets or about the life of some celebrates. For British, this kind of small talks are very important. One wrong word can ruine the whole impression of you. Bad manners are the biggest problems facing Britain.Spitting and swearing are the most popular ones, along with not saying please or thank you .In britain it is absolutely unacceptable to visit someone unannounced or to blow your nose in front of the other people. But in Estonia these things aren`t really big deal. But i understand that,if there are kind of rules, for example not to visit someone unannounced, then people should agree with it,and should announce peole before visiting them.Because rules ARE to be followed.

What Pleases Me about Life in Estonia

What Pleases Me about Life in Estonia Many peole have said, that they do not like living in Estonia. I am one of them, although many people have tried to persuade me to think otherwise. I have loved on both sides of Europe both on the eastern and on the northern part. But there are, of course, some advantages in living in Estonia, too. The first one is definately my family and friends. It is good to live in a country when you know, that you have your loved ones by your side. They can help you in every situation or even when you have nothing to do and you need some entertainment. Also, when your problems seem to grow over your head and you feel that you need to share them with someone. The second good thing about living in Estonia is the nature. We have many beautiful places in our amazing country the best example are the forests. In many European countries, the

Kliima kohta USAs

confusing ... why, a "glorious mess" (Dingell's words, cited by Bush). In reality, automakers would simply have to meet the highest standard applied to them. That's not confusing; they just don't want to do it. What would also be unacceptable, according to Bush, is for "unelected regulators and judges" to force a "one size fits all" set of carbon regulations on the country. The unelected judges in question are the ones on what Bush refers to dismissively as "some courts" - that is, the US supreme court. The unelected regulators are the ones in Bush's own EPA, which was told by the court in no uncertain terms that it is obligated by the Clean Air Act to regulate CO2. "One size fits all" means that CO2 would thus be subject to national regulations, and the Bush administration couldn't cut deals with every industry individually. Oh, the affront to democracy.
