and pretty much my father figure at the time. I tried to teach him Estonian and learned some Russian instead. My Russian studies in school have always been very hectic and making very little sense. Teachers kept changing all the time, teaching methods kept changing as well and learning Pushkin by heart does not work wonders with one's speaking skills, really. (Although I still can recite one of his poems...) The point is, I actually really like Russian. I've never been good at it, but I like the language and I really wish I knew it better. I can speak some, but not read much. As soon as the characters stop talking to each other, I'm stuck and can barely understand anything. Most of my Russian skills my ten years younger mates envy come from my year of living in Narva (literally starve or learn!) and talking to a variety of Estonian-Russian roleplayers I know. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemptioon

30. Rory Tremont lost his last couple of meals when he went throuh the hole that Andy had created(I have no idea what it means, but it was written in the book). Differences between movie and book: · The men's lengthy discussion about institutionalization was not in the novel. However, Red does mention a bit about this topic at one point. · The scene where the guard beats the new 'fish' so badly that he dies after being left in the infirmary over night never happened in the novel. · The 'record playing' incident never happened in the novel. · Jake was not a crow but a pigeon in the novel. What becomes of the bird after Brooks sets him free is uncertain in the movie, but in the book, he is found dead in the courtyard shortly after his release. · Red and his friends did not give a sack of rocks as a present to Andy in the novel.

Tolerance and diversity

dress the same way or listen to the same music as your friends do. But always be opened to get to know about these differences. If your behaviour do not accord to the persons expectations then it will hurt him and you will get disrespected. Many of us don't have the opportunity to live a healthy and full life , that is why we should always treat each other equally. Tolerance is all about politeness against people from other countries with other religions and cultures. People like this never discriminate others against on the basis of their sex, colour, religion, culture and so on. It is about a norm of polite society when you are interacting with another person with a different background. This means that you don't define your religion by saying "I'm not like those people over there." It means that you describe what you believe and practice it in positive ways, with as little reference to other religions as possible. Then

books. They have the power to change the world up-side down. The English textbook given to us this year is something we must carefully treasure after all, there are going to be more people next year either to praise or suffer from it. But not the emotions count at the moment, the future does we must all learn from this wonderful book that wit is not easily gained, however once it's collected, it'll be never lost again. The first chapter includes three specially chosen units. Unit one includes reading about the UK, learning how to form questions, listening, some vocabulary exercises, monologue and, of course, an `extra word exercise' about Ireland. The sweetest part will be probably the last one since I used to like the game odd-man-out in middle school. We often played it, as well as Bingo and Puzzle, but finding a word lost in a bizarre of difficultly read context was still my favourite

Learn From Mistakes, Improve Your Intelligence

The answer lies in you, yourself have to find out why did you fail and what can be learned from it. Frequent failing can cause sadness, depression and lack of motivation but it's not the way to go if you want to succeed in life and become a better you. It's better to understand your mistakes and learn from them to expand your knowledge rather to get everything right and stay on elementary level of problem solving. To fail or not to fail, that is the question. To everyone who state they've never felt failure, first of all, remember when you missed the bus or burnt a meal, tripped over something or got an F in school, they are all but backslides. Secondly if you've never failed you have yet been successful to learn anything in this life. My point is: it's better to fail than do everything right instantly, because when you miss your opportunity you can re-evaluate and do better next time. If you manage to achieve your goals without failure you'll stay in a routine, do the

Pickers, who sift through detritus looking for recyclables to redeem for cash, took part in an art project directed by Vik Munix, Brooklyn-based Brazilian-born artist, who wanted to step up and start changing world. Pickers shared their stories and thanks to project started seeing their life from a different perspective. Vik Munix changed picker’s lives for the better by giving them something to life for. The world is has never been the same. People living a century ago, can never imagine the world we are living in. Nowadays to change the world, it starts with a single person. That single person has to have the moral and emotional strength to stand up for what they believe in. One single act of bravery in the face of certain defeat can inspire a lasting change on the world. Nobody needs everyone’s cooperation or anyone’s permission to make changes. People should change yourself and the whole world changes you.

Mõistusega ei saa armastada, isegi siis mitte kui peame armastust kõrgeks väärtuseks. Südamega armastatakse! Armastus on reetur, kes meid kriimustab isegi siis, kui püüame temaga ainult mängida. I wished you were something you were not! I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky...but why, why can't it be mine? About myself

About Myself From the very start I should say that it is not an easy thing to speak about myself as it is hard to have a look at yourself from aside, but at the same time who knows you better than you yourself do? I am a girl of sixteen. When I look at myself in the mirror I see a blond girl with short straight hair, dark eyes and slander figure. As to my appearance I'm rather tall and slim. I have never thought I'm a beauty I whish I were more beautiful. I think that I'm even tempered, rather reserved, calm and modest. But sometimes I can lose my tempo and become either angry or sad. I like staying alone and sometimes I retire into my shell. But at the same time I like my friends, I like to laugh and joke. I have got a sense of humour. It means I understand humour and appreciate it. There are many things in our life I like and some I dislike. I like when everything is OK. Being

Rowan Atkinson

Rowan grew up with his two older brothers in Newcastle, UK, where his father owned a farm. He attended Newcastle University and Oxford University where he earned degrees in electrical engineering. During that time, he met screenwriter Richard Curtis, with whom he wrote and performed comedy revues. CAREER Rowan Atkinson has written sketch comedies like Blackadder and Not the Nine o'Clock News. His acting career began in 1983 when he got a small roll in the James Bond movie 'Never Say Never Again'. Since then, he has gained further recognition with movies like Four Weddings and a Funeral; Johnny English or Mr Bean's Holiday. My personal favourite is Mr Bean's Holiday because it's filled with humour and ridiculous coincidences. During his career, he's won different awards. For instance, he has been announced the Best Actor in the European Movie Awards in 2003 FAMILY Atkinson has been married to Sunetra Sastry since 1990. He first met her in the late 1980s, when she

Then in a somewhat awkward manner the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up.... "I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would." With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself To a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need Someone who understands."

The Death of the Author

Though the Author’s empire is still very powerful (recent criticism has often merely consolidated it), it is evident that for a long time now certain writers have attempted to topple it. In France, Mallarme was doubtless the first to see and foresee in its full extent the necessity of substituting language itself for the man who hitherto was supposed to own it; for Mallarme, as for us, it is language which speaks, not the author: to write is to reach, through a preexisting impersonality — never to be confused with the castrating objectivity of the realistic novelist — that point where language alone acts, “performs,” and not “oneself”: Mallarme’s entire poetics consists in suppressing the author for the sake of the writing (which is, as we shall see, to restore the status of the reader.) Valery, encumbered with a psychology of the Self, greatly edulcorated Mallarme’s theory, but, turning in a preference for classicism to the lessons of rhetoric, he unceasingly questio-

be trying to hide something from you. We read more and more about the dangers found in chat rooms and on sites like MySpace.com, so it's not a problem that is going to go away any time soon. Your best bet as a concerned parent is to do your homework before letting your child go online, and routinely following up on what they are doing online. It's as dangerous as having a conversation in a bar with strangers. Well, more dangerous because you can't see who you're talking to. As long as you never give out personal information (your full name, your address, or any other identifiable information), then you should have little to worry about. Also, never download a file sent to you by someone you met in a chatroom. Even a picture. Have them post it on Flickr or another trusted picture site. Finally, don't follow any links they send you. These could lead to a site infected with an exploit that will allow them to break into your computer. Even if you don't "download" anything from the site.

How is school life for you? I like school because there I can communicate and talk to my friends. Studying and tests have never been a difficulty for me, but this year physics and math are getting hard. I don't like math, never have. What are the biggest pressures for teens in you city? Võru doesn't have pressure for teens because it is a small and a peaceful city, at least I can't feel any. Is there a difference in Estonia between the north and the south? No, there isn't a big difference, but when I went there and talked to some of my friends living in Tallinn, then I noticed that they don't recognize some of the

California, and was later hired there, working with Steve Wozniak as a summer employee. Following high school graduation in 1972, Jobs enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon. Although he dropped out after only one semester, he continued auditing classes at Reed, while sleeping on the floor in friends' rooms, returning Coke bottles for food money, and getting weekly free meals at the local Hare Krishna temple. Jobs later said, "If I had never dropped in on that single calligraphy course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts.,, In 1974, Jobs took a job as a technician at Atari, Inc. He traveled to India in the summer of 1974. Jobs left India after staying for seven months, with his head shaved and wearing traditional Indian clothing. Jobs returned to Atari and was assigned to create a circuit board for the game Breakout.

The Cement Garden Character Sketch

But when his mother got ill Julie prohibited being around her that much. He did not like the evenings without her. Tom hated and was afraid of going to school because of the bullying. It was hard to force him to go to school, he screamed and pounded. He was clever in a petty and argumentative way — the perfect victim on the playground. “Tom was just this sort of whom to nag at” (translated). He believed that being a girl would had been easier because girls were never hit. Tom had a couple of friends who he sometimes played with outside, but they were never allowed to come to the house. Tom was still a little child who did not understand that much in this world. When their mother died Julie took the responsibility, she believed that she needed to be the new mother in all the possible ways and Tom, pretending to be a little baby, helped her to play her role. Tom was a living doll for

Movie review

who has escaped from a mental institute for the criminally insane. He is assigned a new partner Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo). Teddy though has another reason for accepting the case, to find a man he believes killed his wife. He is haunted by images of his past atrocities committed in World War II and by visions of his dead wife. As he investigates he becomes more and more sure that there is something sinister being kept secret on the island and more afraid that he may never escape. That probably doesn't really do the plot justice but I'm afraid if I say to much I'll give away the ending. The way that Scorsese has crafted this film is really remarkable. The scenes are layered in a way where you never really know the true motivations behind many of the characters. A mystery in the truest sense of the word. The acting is top notch as well which just lends more to the mystery. DiCaprio is great as Teddy Daniels a man desperate to find the truth about the island

Filosoofid, kes räägivad teadusest

- it is not true that things which look similar will produce the same effects. - This is because the course of nature may always change and therefore, also the effects of things may change. - "It is impossible that any arguments from experience can prove the resemblance of the past to the future, since all these arguments are founded on the supposition of that resemblance." Hume Cause and Effect - we can never by any of our senses, see the power or connection between a cause and effect - we can only see that when one billiard ball moves and hits the other, the other moves. The mind does not however conceive any connection between the two things happening. - we only know that one thing follows from another because of experience - if there were any power that caused one thing to follow another

Kujutlus linnast 1. peatükk

Although life is far from impossible in the visual chaos of the modern city, the same daily action could take on new meaning if carried out in a more vivid setting. Strain and anxiety accompanied even the best-prepared expeditions. It must be granted that there is some value in mystification, labyrinth,or surprise in the environment. This is so, however, only under two conditions. First, there must be no danger of losing basic form or orientation, of never coming out. The surprise must occur in an overall framework; the confusions must be small regions in a visible whole. Furthermore, the labyrinth or mystery must in itself have some form that can be explored and in time be apprehended. Complete chaos without hint of connection is never pleasurable. But these second thoughts point to an important qualification. The observer himself should play an active role in perceiving the world and have a creative part in developing his image

Queen Victoria and her time

She respected and worked well with Lord Melbourne (Prime Minister in the early years of her reign) and England grew both socially and economically. [5] Marriage The Queen married Prince Albert on 10 February 1840 at the Chapel Royal in St. James's Palace; four days before, Victoria granted her husband the style His Royal Highness. Prince Albert was commonly known as the "Prince Consort", though he did not formally obtain the title until 1857. Prince Albert was never granted a peerage dignity. [4] Prince Albert replaced Melbourne as the dominant male influence in Victoria's life. She was thoroughly devoted to him, and completely submitted to his will. [5] Victoria did nothing without her husband's approval. His interests in art, science and industry spurred him to organize the Crystal Palace Exhibition in 1851, a highly profitable industrial convention. [6] Her marriage to Prince Albert brought nine children between 1840 and 1857. Most of her

Tsehhov daam koeraga Chekov Lady and the Lapdog

Chekov Lady and the Lapdog Reid about Chekov: The characters in Chekhov's plays are never fully "known" as a writer, he seems to delight in maintaining a sense of indeterminacy, and unknowability, about them. The bare facts are always laughably inadequate to the complexity of "real" people. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov was born on 29 January (New Style), 1860, in Taganrog, a small port on the Sea of Azov, in southern Russia. As the son of a grocer and grandson of a serf, Chekhov was a first-generation intellectual. His

Apperances are deceitful!

As for those, who suffer from being "one out of the crowd", one can advice to show that you are special in a different kind of way. There must be a special talent that makes you a credit to your parents. Anyhow, we are to celebrate beauty, if it deserves it and to try to get it on the right track if its direction is messed up. Power Destroys Ideals

others so that they did not understand what was going on. Napoleon acted like a cruel dictator and changed the life on the farm into chaos. In the real world it is all the same. At first people who want power promise different things that they would do to make the life better and easier. They tell the others about how much effort they will put in their future work and tasks. Unfortunately many or even the most of those promises are never kept. As soon as a person or a political party gets the power they tend to forget their words. The life of the rulers automatically changes for the better when they get their high position and because of that they very often forget the previous ideals, promises and beliefs. On the Animal Farm Napoleon and the other pigs promised the animals that their life will be way better than it was before, that all the animals are equal and should be treated much
