Weather forecast

What makes a weather forecast more complicated than other programmes are the maps and electronic images which are required. The computer has to be programmed so that the pictures appear in the correct order during the bulletin. The time allocated for each broadcast can also alter. This is because the weather report is screened after the news, which can vary in length. The weather forecaster doesn't always know how much time is avail-able, which means that he/she has to be thoroughly prepared so that the material can be adapted to the time available. Another related complication is that the weather forecast has to be a live broadcast; it cannot be pre-recorded. Live shows are very nerve-racking for the presenter because almost anything can go wrong. Perhaps the most worrying aspect for every weather forecaster is getting the following day's predictions wrong. Unfortunately for them this is not 34 an unusual

At first it had to do with Edward wanting Bella, because he never showed any interest in Rosalie. Rosalie then goes on to say that the reason she has trouble with Bella now is because she has the choice to remain human and have all the things Rosalie was denied. She asks Bella to think about the choice and what it means to her future. After the conversation Bella feels better about her relationship with Rosalie and she manages to sleep a little. The next day, on her way to school, Bella is grumpy with Alice, who is trying to plan something for the evening. Bella approaches the school and is greeted by Mike who asks her to hang out that night. Their conversation is interrupted by a loud roaring sound. Bella looks up to see Jacob on his motorcycle. Why do we need to develop muscles anyway? Muscles help to build metabolism, and as you grow older, you'll really need an increased metabolic rate to maintain your weight. Also, muscles help to prevent diseases, and improve balance. Ladies, don't think building muscles means you have to look like a body builder. You can maintain a healthy amount of muscle mass. Reduce Stress and Improve Moods: We now know exercise helps our physical health. What about our mental health? Anyone who exercises would tell you that it definitely reduces stress. Exercise is known to cause the release of a hormone that makes you feel more relaxed, and even increases your self esteem. Because of this hormone,

Provinces, Central Canada, the Atlantic Provinces, and the North. The Pacific Region includes Canada's westernmost province, British Columbia. The region is known for its mild coastal climate, its forests, and its spectacular mountains, including the famous Rockies. The Rocky Mountains are the youngest and highest mountains in Canada. British Columbia is in the landform region called the Western Cordillera. ('Cordillera' means a system of mountain ranges). Between the mountain ranges are areas of high plateaus and deep trenches. Since the landscape is very rugged, most people live in the south and near the coast. Vancouver and Victoria are the largest cities in British Columbia. The region includes the Queen Charlotte Islands and Vancouver Island. All these islands are peaks of a mountain range that is partly covered by the Pacific Ocean. Ways of expressing the Future

I/you/he/we/they won’t write Question Will you/he/she/we/they come? 1. We often use will as a neutral way of expressing the future. We use will to say what we know or think about the future. It is known as the predictive future, and describes known facts, or what we suppose is true. I’ll be late home this evening. The company will make a profit next year. This can also take the form of an assumption: That'll be Jim at the door. (This means that I suppose it is Jim.) 2. Will is also used to express an immediate decision, when we decide on something or agree to do it more or less at the moment of speaking. I’ll take this one. Decisions expressed with going to refer to a more distant point in the future. 3. Will does not express an intention. For that we use be going to. 2 Be going to We use the present tense of the verb be in the right form + going to + verb.

The United States of America

The war began in 1861 with the bombing at Fort Sumter in South Carolina. After 4 years of war, the South finally surrendered and the Confederate States of America was destroyed. Political system The U.S.A is a federation and a democracy. It is made up of 51 States. Each State has its own government and there is a Federal Government for the whole country. It is a democracy because the government leaders are elected by the people. For Americans, democracy means more than majority rule. It also means minority rights. The powers of the Federal Government are divided. The Congress writes the laws. The President carries out the laws and policies of the Government. The Supreme Court decides whether the laws themselves are legal or illegal. In the Federation, the citizens elect most of the Federal leaders as well as the State leaders. The Federal Government carries out its decisions directly, using its own tax collectors and courts

Swifts A Modest Proposal

Especially my attention was struck by the fact that the author incorporates a settlement system, when he calculates the costs for rearing and profit from the sale of poor women' babies. According to Swift, "a child just dropped from its dam may be supported by her milk for a solar year, with the little other nourishment: at most not above the value of two shillings" and he also believes that a healthy and delicious infant may easily be sold for 10 shillings, which means that "the mother will have 8s. net profit, and be fit for work till she produces another child" (53,55). The most seemingly blessed event delivery of a child - compared to the way of doing business. Swift emphasizes this by employing several phrases such as "breeder" and compares humans to livestock, because the only purpose they have is to bear children and sell them as a "delicacy" for the food market. This is a great example of a social

We all have felt good about donating something.

If a family member, relative or friend needed a transplant in order to stay alive, it would definitely be easier to donate an organ in that case. I am not sure that would I do it for a stranger. It really depends on who needs the organ. If someone I care about needs an organ to survive, I would gladly donate it. I would much rather go through a struggle with them rather than sit there, watching them suffer, and do nothing when I have the means to help. I do understand people who agree to donate their body parts in the event of their own death. You do not need your body anymore anyway, so why not? Thousands of lives are saved every day in the US by people willing to donate their organs in this way. If the day ever comes that I would need an organ transplant, then I will be very thankful to my donor, whether I knew them or not. After this I'll definitely think about organ donations in a very different way.

The Crow Tribe

The Crow, also called the Absaroka or Apsáalooke, are a Siouan-language tribe of Native Americans who historically lived in the Yellowstone River valley. They now live on a reservation south of Billings, Montana. Tribal headquarters are located at Crow Agency, Montana. The name of the tribe, Apsáalooke was translated into French by interpreters as gens du corbeaux (people of [the] crows). It means "children of the large-beaked bird," a name given by their neighboring tribe, the Hidatsa. The bird, perhaps now extinct, was defined as a fork- tailed bird resembling the blue jay or magpie. In 1743 near present-day Hardin, Montana, the Absaroka first encountered people of European descent - the two La Vérendryes brothers from French Canada. The explorers called the Apsáalooke beaux hommes (handsome men). The Crow called the French Canadians baashchíile (persons with yellow eyes).

Essay on water pollution, global warming, acid rain, deforestation, intensive farming

This is especially true because water is able to transport pollution from one location to another. For many years, chemicals were dumped into bodies of water without concern. While many countries have now banned such behavior, it continues to go on today. As the world has industrialized and its population has grown, the problem of water pollution has intensified. The simple fact that millions of people live along coastlines and near rivers means that these bodies of water are likely candidates for heavy and destructive pollution. It is hard to know now what our oceans will look like in the future. Just how damaged they will be by pollution is uncertain. Acid rain The term acid rain refers to what scientists call acid deposition. It is caused by airborne acidic pollutants and has highly destructive results. Scientists first discovered acid rain in 1852, when the English chemist Robert Agnus invented the term

It will concentrate especially on one particular visual quality: the apparent clarity or "legibility" of the cityscape. By this we mean the ease with which its parts can be recognized and can be organized into a coherent pattern. a legible city would be one whose districts or landmarks or pathways are easily identifiable and are easily grouped into an over-all pattern. This book will assert that legibility is crucial in the city setting, Although clarity or legibility is by no means the only important property of a beautiful city, it is of special importance when considering environments at the urban scale of size, time, and complexity. To understand this, we must consider not just the city as a thing in itself, but the city being perceived by its inhabitants. Structuring and identifying the environment is a vital ability among all mobile animals. Many kinds of cues are used: the

Short overview of London

Located in the southeast of England, on the River Thames, it is the capital of the United Kingdom and has been the heart of its political, cultural and business life for centuries. London has always been the centre of the world. The origin of the city may be dated around the beginning of the 1st century when a Celtic tribe settled near the Thames. The Romans founded London about 50 AD. Its name is derived from the Celtic word Londinios, which means `the place of the bold one'. The Romans brought with them forts, roads and the rule of law. Then in 61 AD Queen Boudicca led a rebellion against the Romans. Her army marched on London. No attempt was made to defend London. Boudicca burned London but after her rebellion was crushed it was rebuilt. By the end of the 2nd century, a 6metre stone wall was erected around London. The Danes invaded London in 842 and again in 851, burning most of the town

How far can we go being tolerant?

cultural differences. Now people are more tolerate but still is seen that some people do not treat them as eqaul. There are so many different religions all over the world. Usually those religions do not bother us but for example islam and also jews are not tolerated in some parts of the world. For me it is quite hard to understand because first of all, we, Estonians and me myself also are mostly not deeply religious and I am not sure if I really know what religion means to them. Secondly, I think those people who have sometihng agains those relgions, do not know about them and their nature, what those religons belive in. People should be tolerate because religion is everyone's own choice. One thing that causes issues are abortions. Some religions do not accept it because for them it is killing a human. Other parts of the world tolerate it because for them it is not killing but and I think it sometimes is justified. If you are young and you are alone in the

How does virtual communication influence our behaviour and relationships

How does virtual communication influence our behaviour and relationships? Virtual world is growing closer to ours every day. It has its pros, as well as cons and the industry involved in it has grown most rapidly in the last 15 year. Therefore, does virtual communication influence us positively or negatively? Becoming virtual in the means of communication has changed our lives forever. Recent studies tell that about 75% of the people in North-America use the internet and from that 95% use email and other virtual communication software. This percentage has grown over 130% from the year 2000. I bring my examples on North-America because there is the highest percentage of Internet users in population. Talking of it, what is internet? Statistics say that it is porn, but I believe that people mostly use it for communication

Aadvantages and disadvantages of being on tv?

almost certainly want to run your piece a number of times. Because of this, most television stations structure their pricing to make it more attractive for you to purchase advertising in chunks. Another disadvantage is how difficult it can be to make changes. Whereas with newspaper advertising, updating sale pricing or a special offer is often as simple as swapping out a coupon, with television advertising it means updating your script and reshooting the entire ad, which costs additional money. It can also be difficult to effectively target your core audience with television advertising, although there are a few best practices that can help. For starters, consider who your audience is before structuring your ad and purchasing airtime. Is a large portion of your clientele Spanish speaking? If so, you'd do well to purchase airtime on a Spanish-language station such as Telemundo

„Agroecological Economics“ by Paul Wojtkow

This book presents a wide range of new and diverse techniques for sustainable agriculture for the purpose of enhancing economic interest. Since agriculture is growing really convivially, the emphasis is on changing from conventional agriculture to more efficient systems and practise. This book is very educational because it explains how is the best way to analyze the experimental results from intercropping and multiple cropping trials. Also offers a means for risk assessments. I chose this book because my family also is engaged to farm business and agriculture. This book has 293 pages which includes 16 chapters, it was first published in 2008, so it is quite new book. It was very interesting to read about because there were lots of themes and tips about how to cultivate our soil. I think that a lots of farmers could get help from this book. I want to emphasize this book topic about non-polluting agricultural alternatives to

Lianas A liana is any of various long-stemmed, woody vines that are rooted in the soil at ground level and use trees, as well as other means of vertical support, to climb up to the canopy to get access to well-lit areas of the forest. Lianas are especially characteristic of tropical moist deciduous forests and rainforests. Fig trees Ficus is a genus of about 850 species of woody trees, shrubs, vines, epiphytes, and hemiepiphyte in the family Moraceae. Collectively known as fig trees or figs, they are native throughout the tropics with a few species extending into the semi-warm temperate zone. http://www.bbc.co

About Tallinn

Tallinn is a small port town in which the population is 371 000 people, and the area is only 159,2 km².( square kilometers). Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is named after taani linnus, which means Danish castle. The Castle in question was built by King Waldemar of Denmark in the 13th century. The settlement quickly developed itself into a busy port. -The Old Town In medieval age Tallinn was called Reval and it was as big as the Tallinns Old Town is now. Uniqueness of Tallinn is that it is one of very few European cities, where the historical lay-out is kept in it's original form , and has a lot of monuments of that time. Thanks to that in 1997 Old

Alcohol, tobacco and drug abuse related deaths from overdoses or associated diseases vary from 120,000 to 160,000 deaths a year. In addition to the increased quantities ,which means more drug crimes, the availabilty of drugs and the ease of getting alcohol has caused another big problem - the increasing use of unhealthy substances among young people as the use of alcohol and lighter drugs has increased twofold scince the year 2006. 6) The economic recession has caused many problems which are mainly the loss of job, or housing and the downfall of healthcare. How to avoi road accidents

1. Slow down. Obey the speed limit even if every other car is surpassing it. Remember that police officers often stay hidden from view while looking for speeders. If you're caught driving too fast, they won't hesitate to give you a ticket. 2. 2 Let others pass you. Defensive driving means letting others go ahead-not defending your position in traffic. Avoid the urge to be a vigilante ("Oh yeah? Let me show you what it's like to be cut off like that!") Accept the fact that someone is always going to think they're in more of a hurry than you. These are the drivers you want to move far away from, not to 'teach them a lesson.' 3 3 Try to avoid driving in bad weather. Always keep your windshield wipers going in the rain or snow

By supplying the motor with more or less power. In this laboratry work: When manually controlling the motor with the testbox- by turning the potentiometer in the desired direction. When controlling the motor with the program Wmemoc by setting the speed slider to the desired value in the program settings. 3.4 What factors affect the resolution of a position the slide is moving to? Running speed and acceleration/deceleration ramps affect the accuracy of the positioning. Sharper movement means less accuracy. Also differences when the positioning run is set in absolute or relative mode. 3.5 How long can a ramp be? Ramp lenght is determined by the program setting, where the user determines how much time the acceleration/deceleration will take and the capabilities of the controller. In the case of this lab it is limited by the parameters of the motor and the lenght of the slide.
