Acid Rain

Acid rain can be absorbed by both plants (through soil and/or direct contact) and animals (from things they eat and/or direct contact). When humans eat these plants or animals, the toxins inside of the things they eat can affect them. It can cause brain damage, kidney problems and even Alzheimer's disease. The countries that are producing the majority of the pollutions that causes acid rain are not that badly affected (Germany, Britain, USA). Instead the wind direction means the acid rain falls in the other places (in Europe : Scandinavia, USA; Canada) Cultural effects Acid rain and the dry deposition of acidic particles contribute to the corrosion of metals (such as bronze) and the deterioration of paint and stone (such as marble and limestone). These effects significantly reduce the societal value of buildings, bridges, cultural objects (such as statues, monuments, and tombstones), and cars.

the perspective of some people, such as Russians), Estonians had the opportunity to tell the story from their own perspective. Words such as "pärisorjus" (lit. true slavery) have entered Estonian historiography to describe the subjected state in which Estonians existed prior to the Revolution. Germans and Russians (at least in particular time periods) on the other hand would have chosen terms such as "serfdom," "a fair economic system which benefits the strong and yet provides means of living for those are not as capable." Perhaps serfdom truly was slavery, but what is the difference between the terms "serfdom" and "pärisorjus"? How should we view those German and Russian histories that look condescendingly on Estonians now that they have learned to read and run a nation, which some thought they could not do? 2 Tiit Rosenberg, Vene balti ajaloo historiograafia XIX sajandi II poolel ja XX sajandi algul," 1-2.

public, and this change is unlikely to happen in the near future. The House of Commons The House of Commons is the main House of the British Parliament in terms of legislative power. It is a chamber composed of 650 members (Members of Parliament or MPs ) elected by universal suffrage. The life of a Parliament is five years. According to an ancient tradition, MPs are elected by universal suffrage under a system of relative majority, in one round of voting. This means that the candidate with the most votes in an election is elected, whether or not he or she has an absolute majority of votes. This system favors the major political parties, and stable governments - at the expense of smaller parties. Elected Members of Parliament do not have a deputy, so in the event of the death, resignation or removal of an MP, a "by-election" must be called in order to elect a new MP. Each MP represents a territory, or constituency: the link between an MP and his or her

the past, the court is bound to follow the reasoning and reach the same decision. Continental systems are also known as codified systems. The governments attempted to govern every legal aspect of a citizen’s life. In continental law system the sources of law are codes, for example civil code which is a collection of laws designed to deal with different areas of private law. The judges have to apply these laws when making a decision in court. One of the sources of law is precedent. It means that if a similar dispute has been resolved (solve a dispute) in the past, the court is bound to follow the reasoning and reach the same decision. Precedents are more used in common law countries. Custom can be also a source of law. Customs are non-written rules of social and moral behavior. In history, when the laws were not written yet, the life was organized by customs. The most important source of law is legislation (a law or set of laws suggested by a

Australia Australia is a country and also a continent. If someone wants to make clear, that he is speaking of the country, he may call it by its full name of Commonwealth of Australia. Australia's name means "southland."It is south of the equator. Sometimes it is also called the island continent because it is an island. There are about twenty million people in Australia. It is 1,800 miles from the mainland of Asia and almost half way round the world from Europe. More than 600 miles of ocean separate it from Americas. Since Australia is south of the equator, its seasons are just the opposite of ours. It has summer while we have winter, and the other way round. States and Territories.

The BIOS is typically placed in a ROM chip that comes with the computer (it is often called a ROM BIOS). This ensures that the BIOS will always be available and will not be damaged by disk failures. It also makes it possible for a computer to boot itself. Because RAM is faster than ROM, though, many computer manufacturers design systems so that the BIOS is copied from ROM to RAM each time the computer is booted. This is known as shadowing. Many modern PCs have a flash BIOS, which means that the BIOS has been recorded on a flash memory chip, which can be updated if necessary. The PC BIOS is fairly standardized, so all PCs are similar at this level (although there are different BIOS versions). Additional DOS functions are usually added through software modules. This means you can upgrade to a newer version of DOS without changing the BIOS. PC BIOSes that can handle Plug-and-Play (PnP) devices are known as PnP BIOSes, or PnP- aware BIOSes

THE CAPITALIST NIGER

Being a Capitalist Nigger does not involve asking for a separate land area for Black people; it does not involve asking all Caucasians to get out of Africa; it does not involve asking others to stop doing business in our neighbourhoods. It is not about calling people names. It is not about taking up arms to slaughter innocent people. However, if we agree to the Biblical teaching that all men are created equal, then it behoves us to understand that being a Capitalist Nigger means matching brain power for brain power with our conquerors – I feel humiliated using that word. Everywhere you go now in Africa, the craze is for cellular phones. The saddest thing is that people don’t know or understand how they work. No country in Africa manufactures its own telecommunications products. They haven’t even attempted to ask the Western companies to license them so that they could start assembling these products

The wind sits in the shoulder of your sail, And you are stay'd for. There; my blessing with thee! And these few precepts in thy memory See thou character. Give thy thoughts no tongue, Nor any unproportioned thought his act. Be thou familiar, but by no means vulgar. Those friends thou hast, and their adoption tried, Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel; But do not dull thy palm with entertainment Of each new-hatch'd, unfledged comrade. Beware Of entrance to a quarrel, but being in, Bear't that the opposed may beware of thee. Give every man thy ear, but few thy voice; Take each man's censure, but reserve thy judgment. indicating the thickest string of the guitar. Now if you look at your guitar you will see metal bars that raise up from the neck of the guitar called frets. TAB uses numbers to show you which one of these frets to press down and play. For example, look at the tab diagram to the right and you can see that the 1st string (thinnest string) is being played. The number refers to the fret that you should press down. In this case the number zero is displayed. This means that you shouldn't press down anything. So if you were to play the above piece of TAB on your guitar, you would pick the thinnest string once with your plucking hand and do nothing with your fret hand. Advantages and disadvantages of television

But if children do not watch TV they find themselves without anything to talk about at school, where comedians and singing stars are major topics during breaks between classes. The same is true about some adults. Sometimes TV programmes become the topics of common interest of the people and without, them they have nothing to talk about. Nowadays some people in our country watch television programmes from about six in the morning to the early hours of the next day. It means that contemporary people for various reasons depend upon television. They watch everything from news and sports reports to dramas, educational and entertainment programmes. Today some people become TV addicts and feel - unhappy if they fail to find another way of passing leisure time. Free time is regulated by television. TV occupies our free time. Instead of going to the theatre or reading books people watch TV. People rush home, gulp food to be in time to watch their favourite programmes

Iirimaa

Ireland Ireland (Irish: Éire, Irish pronunciation:) is a country in north-western Europe. The modern sovereign state occupies about five-sixths of the island of Ireland, which was first partitioned on 3 May 1921. It is bordered by Northern Ireland--part of the United Kingdom--to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Irish Sea to the east and the Celtic Sea and St George's Channel to the South and South-East. The legal name of the state is simply "Ireland", but its legal description the Republic of Ireland is sometimes used to differentiate the state from the island. On 29 December 1937 Ireland became the successor-state to the Irish Free State, itself established on 6 December 1922. Ireland was one of the poorest countries in Western Europe and had high emigration. The protectionist economy was opened in the late 1950s and Ireland joined the European Communities (now the European Un...

Theater of Tallinn

Estonia has no age-old puppetry tradition, like some other countries. Regular puppet shows were first a feature of the children's program of the Estonian Drama Theatre in the 1930s. A separate puppet theatre was founded in 1952; for decades it worked under the leadership of Ferdinand Veike. At first it had no house of its own, constantly travelling around the country. In 1955 part of an historic building in the old-town quarter of Tallinn became its home. The theatre started to broaden its means, often mixing puppets and live performers. From 2000 the artistic director is Andres Dvinjaninov and the managing director is Meelis Pai. The theatre building was extensively renovated; at present it has a 177-seat main stage, a 100-seat oval hall, an 80-seat green hall, and an open-air stage in the back yard. 8 Conclusion

All Marketers are liars

The marketer tells a story about what the consumer noticed. The story changes the way the consumer experiences the product or service and he tells himself a lie. Consumer rationalize anything that doesn´t match that prediction. Step 5: Marketers with authenticity thrive. The authenticity of the story determines whether it will survive scrutiny long enough for the consumer to tell the story to other people. The biggest myth marketer believe: ,,I have money, which means that I am in charge. I have control over the conversation, over the airwaves, over your attention and over retailers." There are only two things that separate success from failure in most organizations today: 1. Invent stuff worth talking about. 2. Tell stories about what you´re invented. Make up great stories. That´s the new motto. This is urgent. The transformation of our organization has been under way for a while, but now, thanks to outsourcing and computers

One can benefit from wisely chosen activities, yet foolish choices can decrease one’s possibilities for strengthening the joints as well as reduce the ability to bend. Stronger muscles can protect the joints they surround.15 As Livestrong.com states: „Strengthening exercises are those that involve working with resistance, such as weight lifting, medicine balls and tension bands.“ 16 This means that all variations of resistance training are the most benefitial for enchancing one’s muscle mass and joint firmness. As there are various negative consequences as well as positive opportunities for patients with Joint Hypermobility Syndrome, the condition is not harmful for most of the patients. The syndrome is even benefitial for some. JMS is the most advantageous for athletes and dancers, as the condition can contribute to their flexibility and ability

The currency of the USA is the United States Dollar. The government of the USA is composed of three coordinate branches: the executive, legislative and the judicial. All the three branches are equal. The executive power is vested in the president, who holds office for a term of four year. At the moment George W

centre and one of the main ports in the Baltic States. Tallinn is one of the oldest cities on the Baltic Sea. It is unique for its well-preserved architecture from the 13-15 centuries. In contrast to the ancient town-walls and towers, Tallinn of today offers modern hotels, restaurants, sport and cultural centres. Every five years national song and folk dance festivals take place in Tallinn. The yachting regatta of the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games was held at Pirita. History Tallinn means in English "Danish town". The place is believed to have been settled by Finno-Ugric people about 2500 BC. It was first marked on a map of the world by the Arab geographer al-Idrisi in 1154. The Estonians were the first to build a stronghold on the spot of the Toompea Hill, but the real Tallinn was built by the Danes who conquered the north of Estonia in 1219. Legend has it that one day, when the Danes were about to

called the martinez which was created in Martinez, California by professor Jerry Thomas, when a gold miner visited his San Francisco bar and asked for a unique drink. In another version of the story, it was local bartender Julio Richelieu in Martinez in 1870 who was asked to make a new drink by a gold miner. Regardless of the orgin, the drink refers to a cocktail made with gin and vermouth, and garnished with an olive or a lemon twist. Maven – In the modern American English, maven means someone who knows a lot about a particular subject. The term comes from Yiddish meyvn and from Hebrew mebhin, literally translating into "one who understands." The term (spelled as mayvin) was first recorded in English in 1950, and became popular in the United States in the 1960s thanks to the series of commercials created by Martin Solow for Vita Herring, featuring "The Beloved Herring Maven." maverick – The modern definition of maverick (“an unusual person who has different ideas and

that other authors does not mention at all, therefore this definition is more usable in many concepts, it is wide, however focused. Although, these definitions are different from their point of view, there are some similarities and common areas to discuss. Most widely used themes of defining ST are environmental and benefit to local communities. Benefit to local communities is appearing on four and a half times out of five, this means that all above mentioned authors weigh up interests of local people and community, who are in fact one of the most important parts of sustaining destination, through its people. Second best theme is environmental issues, four authors out of five are mentioning that preserving and monitoring of environment is very important part of sustainable tourism management. In third place all will come equally - economic, cultural and benefits to stakeholders. These themes are mentioned

It is also applied in detectors, which find the signals in the noisy operation conditions. The third application is in switching circuits because an ideal rectifier acts like a perfect conductor when forward biased and lik a perfect insulator when reverse biased. 7) A power diode is more complicated in structure and operational characteristics than the small signal diode. The forward bias characteristic of the power diode is approximately linear, which means that the voltage drop is proportional to the omic resistance and to the current. The rated currents of power diodes are thousands of amperes and the area of the pn junction may be tens of square centimeters. In the case of power diode, the additional n- layer exists between these two layers, which is termed as a drift region. This layer can be quitewide for the diode. The wide lightly doped region adds significant ohmic resistance to the forward-biased diode and causes larger power

The Ancient Egyptians would often write on papyrus, a plant grown along the Nile River. At first the words were not separated from each other (scriptura continua) and there was no punctuation. Texts were written from right to left, left to right, and even so that alternate lines read in opposite directions. The technical term for this type of writing is 'boustrophedon,' which means literally 'ox-turning' for the way a farmer drives an ox to plough his fields. 1/15 Scroll Egyptian papyrus showing the god Osiris and the weighing of the heart. Homereading - body language

Body language Body language means communication with the movement or position of the human body. It can be conscious or unconscious. It is something that is noticed by everybody but is not always given enough attention. We sometimes ignore it and try to hide behind words, but we should never forget that we cannot fool everyone! Children react to body language because they experience the world through intuition. The same can be true for adults when feelings are involved.

Prepositions

at first sight at present Phrasal verbs: A phrasal verb is a phrase made up of two or three words: a verb combined with an adverb or a preposition, or a verb combined with an adverb and a preposition. Phrasal verbs are very common in English, and their meaning may be quite different from the meaning of the ordinary verb, eg you may know the individual meanings of the words make and off, but you may not be able to guess that to make off means "to leave or escape" . Some phrasal verbs have the adverb or preposition following immediately after the verb, as in ,,He owned up" and ,,He looks after the children"; others have the object of the verb placed between the verb and the other parts of the phrasal verb, as in ,,He laid the book down". Be afraid of She is afraid of you. Ta kardab sind. Be fond of I am fond of music. Ma armastan muusikat.

and good acquaintances. All depends completely on how a person distributes the roles him or herself or how much originates from their sensation. It is clear that even in the near future most of the peole would not go saying ´hey you´ to complete stranger and the respectation towards older people predicates the usage of ´you´ form. But more and more the usage of ´you ´ refers to cultural changes which are taking place around us. It means that the formal style diminishes. There is much more downrightness. Statuses of people now are not important as they were in the older days, that is why the emphasizing is not so important too. I believe that the need to be polite to each other is not disappearing because of that.

Austraalia

Australia Topic Koostas: Aineõpetaja: Tallinn 2011 Location Only one country in the world fills a whole continent. That country is Australia. The continent it fills is Australia, too. Australia, then, is both a country and a continent. If someone wants to make clear that he is speaking of the country, he may call it by its full name of Commonwealth of Australia. Sixty million years ago Australia and its nearby islands were separated from the rest of the world by a great upheaval. They were cut off from Asia by the ocean. Very few people and almost no animals visited Australia before English colonists began to settle there in 1788. During all those 60 million years the native Australian mammals developed by themselves, undisturbed by the animals developing elsewhere. Australia is the only continent except Antarctica that is all sout...

EU COOPERATION WITH RUSSIA AND EASTERN

stipulates that no visas will be needed for short-term trips between Russia and the EU countries. In my opinion at one point of view, the EU is more interested because we have made more trade- offs. On the other hand as the EU is by far the biggest investor in Russia and the most important market for Russian exports, it is very clear, that the benefits, that Russia gets by preserving good relations with the EU, are their main interest. This means that both are equal partners. 2. What is the amount of yearly trade between EU and Russia? Which are the main groups of goods that are imported and exported? Which EU countries are the biggest trade partners for Russia regarding trade? EU services exports to Russia 2010: 22.6 billion EU services imports from Russia 2010: 14.2 billion The EU is Russia's largest trading partner by far with the EU accounting for 52.3% of all foreign

Report Of Canada

To understand the scale of U.S.-Canadian trade, it is important to point out that the United States sends more products to Canada than it does to all of Latin America. Canada, Kärt Kalvet 8a Like Americans, Canadians tend to have high levels of disposable income . This disposable income drives the Canadian economy as consumers spend their excess wages on a variety of products and services. This creates demand for increased production and the development of new products, which also means more and better-paying jobs. Also like the United States, advertising has a major impact on Canadian consumer spending. Television is the number-one form of advertising in Canada. The nation's infrastructure is excellent and most of its factories and manufacturing plants are modern. In fact, Canada's transportation network is ranked as the best in the world by the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report. Canada has a variety of natural resources,
