Many different things cause the greenhouse effect. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing because of the massive consumption of fossil fuels such as oil, coal, and natural gas. Another contributing factor is the the amount of forest logged. Every second of the day the area of a football field in trees is cleared by either being logged or burnt. The potential costs of cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions might sacrifice economic growth and our standard of living. By doing this we might need to change our habits and behavior. Furthermore we need to make investments in technology we need to adopt green building practices and buy clean cars. We all can do our part to help the planet by making small changing in our lifestyle. Simply turning off the lights every time you leave the room will dramatically decrease the amount of carbon dioxide produced. Using fluorescent light bulbs and properly inflated tires will also contribute to saving the planet.

But I´ll start off by giving you an overview of the term. The definition of a passive house is based on its extremely low energy need. Passive houses consume less than a quarter of energy required for a standrard building, as a result reducing its ecological footprint. So it´s a ultralow energy building which requires little energy for space heating or cooling. Sounds appealing right? Sustaining the earth for our future generations and also in the long run benefit from living there with paying lower taxes. However sadly, nowadays there is known to be only up to 20,000 passive houses world-wide out of 1,6 billion households. Which leaves us only 1 house out of 80,000. So why such shocking figures? The main reason, why there aren´t enough energy efficient homes, is because it costs more money to build one of those. Instead, we go to school to sit, not to study and then try to train, but because of all the homework and long days, sometimes it's hard to find time for that. So in the end, we don't get the education we were hoping for and neither did we get to the top of the world in sports. We tried, because with just sports, it's hard to make a living in Estonia, so going to school and making these three years was a backup plan that basically ruined Plan A. So this is a topic that I think the government should really think about and discuss it so that in the future, athletes will make this little country more famous. Getting on top in sports is good for tourism, the athlete and everyone else, because the country would be richer and more famous. Thank you for listening!
