exchange student there for a year. I am a 17-year-old girl from Estonia, cheerful, kind and hard-working. I love literature and arts; however, learning new ideas and cultures has always been my secret passion. There are many places I have been to and even more yet awaiting to be explored. I would like to know more about the location of your school, strengths and major subjects. Are there any accommodation possibilities such as staying with host families? It would be interesting to try it at least once in a lifetime. And one more question about the fees is there any extra pay for studies, books, uniform, etc? I look forward to your letter. Sincerely, [eesnimi perekonnanimi]

Connecting Ideas Logically and Effectively

When the ICN equipment was first introduced, it was found to provide a flexible and advanced system. Its speed of operation was greater than comparable hardware then available. In recent months major faults have developed in the equipment. The local agent appears incapable of providing a reliable repair service. The system is regularly out of order for several days at a time. The makers have agreed to replace the system free of charge. The new equipment will not be installed for at least six months. Such a delay is clearly unacceptable to us. We should insist that ICN send their own engineer to service the equipment. The equipment should be transported to the ICN plant for inspection and repair there. When the ICN equipment was first introduced, it was found to provide a flexible and advanced system. Moreover, its speed of operation was greater than comparable hardware then available. However, in recent months major faults have developed in the

My mother tongue in 21th century

The expressions that were used years ago are replaced with English phrases, which are especially popular among young people. That's because almost all films, song lyrics and popular TV shows are in English. They also use slang too much. It's quite possible, that soon the Estonian language dies out and replaces with English. The second reason, why Estonian is in big danger, is because the little importance of the language. Almost everyone can speak at least one foreign language and nowadays the travelling possibilities are also very good. So if the Estonian language has no importance, it's possible, that if several nations will mix and there will be no Estonian anymore. Estonian language is nearing extinction in the 21th century. People should think more about the importance of the language and protect it from foreign influences.

Pros and Cons of School Uniforms

uniforms can prevent gangs from forming on campus and identify intruders in the school yard. Secondly, school uniforms increase a sense of belonging and school pride. It encourages discipline, lessens economic and social barriers between students. Besides that there is no need to spend money on trendy clothes. Thirdly, school uniforms make students a target for bullies from other schools. In addition to that, uniforms give students no freedom of expression. Last but not least, school uniforms are an unfair additional expense for parents and besides that a financial burden for poor families. To sum up, it can be said that school uniforms have both good and bad sides. In my opinion, school uniforms are rather beneficial because they protect students from intruders and bullies and lessen barriers between students. Merit Vislapu 11R

some problems I want to talk about, which was not mention in brochure. Firstly, when we arrived at the airport, there were not any coach waiting for us but brochure said that transfer was included. Because of that we had to take a taxi and it was very expensive. What is more, the beach was far from hotel which was unpleasant surprise. In addition, entire resort was crowded and very noisy but travel agent described it as quiet and peaceful area. Last but not least, our hotel room was tiny and not comfortable for three people to live in, it was dirty also. Furthermore, towels were dirty during our two weeks holiday. In conclusion, I think the travel agent should offer some compensation for us, because of false information in brochure and bad service in hotel. I am looking forward receiving your reply Yours faithfully Riho Kirsipuu Number of words: 167

SWEDISH FOOD

Crawfish parties (kräftskivor) are popular in August, when warm summer evenings are spent feasting on these red bite-sized fresh-water crustaceans in gardens and on balconies all over Sweden. Eaten only by Sweden’s upper-class citizens and aristocracy in the 16th century, crawfish have become a national delicacy enjoyed by all, with mass importation having significantly brought down the price over the centuries. Surströmming — foul-smelling fish Every culture has at least one culinary specialty that makes both locals and visitors cringe. From late August to early September, a stinky tradition is upheld in Sweden, particularly in the northern part of the country. This is when cans of fermented sour Baltic herring (surströmming) are opened — a tradition dating to the 1800s. The custom always takes place outdoors owing to the overpowering, unpleasant smell, which many compare to rotten eggs and raw sewage. Crisp bread — hard to beat

Advantages and disadvantages of being your own boss

Liis Laumets 12d Advantages and disadvantages of being your own boss Definitely everyone has thought about being their own boss at least once in a life time. Most people would think that being your own boss means upsides than downsides. No matter how attractive it might see at first, self-employment has its difficulties. The most important advantage of being self- employed is that it allows you to make your own schedule. For instance, it enables you to work when you want rather than when you have to. Moreover, some people are convinced that being your own boss means that entire results of your work, overtime, sweat, pain,

Essay about museums

Nowadays there are many museums in every country and almost in every city. Despite that people still do not visit museums as much as doing other activities. What might be the reasons of this? There are certain arguments in favour of visiting museums. The first important advantage of museums is that it educates and broadens your mind. For example, when you go to visit the exhibition, you learn more about the painter and the story behind the picture. Another advantage of museums is that it represents the country. As a result tourists become more aware of our country. On the other hand, there are people who are against of visiting museums. The main drawback of this is that museums cost a lot of money. As a result, many people can not afford to go to the museum. Another disadvantage of visiting museums is that they might be boring. Therefore it is a waste of money and time. All things considered, it seems to me that museums are not a was...

How can we reduce air pollution level in cities?

How can we reduce air pollution level in cities? The air pollution levels are extremely high in cities, but how can people change this situation? Cars and big factories emit lots of deleterious gases into the air, for example carbonic acid gas, cities are not healthy places to live anymore. Firstly, we should using the public transport. Everybody can walk and bicycle instead of driving cars. Vehicles emit a lot of harmful gases into the air. Every family member does not need his or her own car. One car for the whole family would minimise the number of cars in cities and air pollution levels will come down. Secondly, people have to recycle. It would help reduce factories work. It will emit less harmful gases into the air. Finally, we should plant more trees in cities and also create more national parks. They produce oxygen. Mangrove forest

MIS ON MANGROVE FOREST ÜLDSE? Mangrove swamps are found in tropical and subtropical tidal areas. Many mangrove forests can be recognized by their dense tangle of prop roots that make the trees appear to be standing on stilts above the water. This tangle of roots allows the trees to handle the daily rise and fall of tides, which means that most mangroves get flooded at least twice per day. The roots also slow the movement of tidal waters, causing sediments to settle out of the water and build up the muddy bottom. KAARDIGA SLAID Mangroves can be found in over 118 countries and territories in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The largest percentage of mangroves is found between 5° (degrees hääldad seda kraadi märki) North and 5° South latitudes.[20] Approximately 75% of world's mangroves are found in just 15 countries

Why learn English? Nowadays English plays a major international role. Personally I believe, that in order to survive in present society we have to, at least, know the basic English, because almost everything is based on English. Firstly English is the international language and knowing English shows the eruditeness of people, because every person who considers him or herself to be educated has learnt it. Its subject is the set of consensus on at least three elements: social conventions of a particular class in a particular time and place The novel of manners is dominated by women--as authors, as subjects, and often as intended audience For example, in Jane Austen's novels there is always "husband-hunting" by female characters. polluted place. Finally mass tourism can increase population of country. In fact, sometimes tourist can go back and start his life there. On the otherhand, unfortunately there are some negative aspects aswell. Firstly, with mass tourism comes pollution. For example, tourist throws carbage on the ground because there are no garbage cans around. Another bad aspect is that tourists disturb wildlife. Hordes of tourists can go to forest and scare wild animals. Last but not least, is that places are spoiled by over-development. In fact, they chop down forest to build hotels and restaurants. In conclusion, there are number of strong points both for and against mass tourism. However, i think that being against mass tourism is more rightful than being in favour of accepting it. The factors Estonian students consider important when choosing a job

changes. Grow of importance To start with, the importance had grown 14% for the pay, 15% for the work atmosphere and 20% for work/life balance. The pay has stayed the same in the ranking of importance but the ranking of work/life balance has dropped from fourth to second place. Fall of importance In contrast, the importance of job security has fallen by 22% and job content by 16%. They used to be equally ranked the second, but now they have become the least important factors when choosing a job. Conclusion To sum up, the importance of the job itself has fallen, but the factors that employees get out of the job have risen. The reason behind it may be the change in economy or the fact that because of 9/11, people were more scared about their job security in 2003.

In my opinion begins all still eating because food is our body`s fuel. If the fuel is of good quality, remains in the body mostly "working" or healthy. Drink enough water, walking in the fresh air every day. Get enough sleep, a good night`s sleep gives your brain a brilliant boost, it improves your memory and ability to focus. At least 7-8 hours of sleep is very important for me and I always trying to go to sleep before midnight. Of course it easy for me, because I go to school and I don`t have kids, but I believe, however, that most people really could more sleep, when they plan their day better organized. Have a laugh, think positively and set goals. Listen to classical music and try something new. Don`t drink alcohol or smoke. Choices after secondary school

Researches have shown that students, who have worked for few years after secondary school, can't concentrate on their lessons as much as those whose first choice was university. Thirdly, novadays students more often are facing financial problems. Lots of them are thinking that it is useful to work abroad in order to pay fees at university. Also, working in foreign countries is an advantage to improve your language skills. Last but not least, I think eightteen-year-old students aren't ready to start their career. Futhermore, they are usually working at low-paid occupations. It's because they don't have any profession after graduating and their working experience level is mainly zero. To sum up, I feel it would be better to go to university after graduation because after working student won't be able to focus on studies.

But there are areas outside the centre of the town where people live. Big cities also have good roads and big parking lots. In conclusion, social networks have made social life more convenient and faster. In fact, people save more time and money talking through internet. But on the otherhand, it is addiciton and makes people lose their quality time. 218 words

My dream destination

wide variety of backgrounds including French, Tahitian, but also Chinese, Vietnamese and Italian. B Poisson cru (ia ota) Chevrettes Places to stay There are many places where you can stay in French Polynesia. Resorts&hotels (really expensive) Budget hotels Bed&breakfast places Little houses for rent How to get there? It's not easy to get from Estonia to French Polynesia. You have to take at least three flights. The easiest route would be: Tallinn - London - Los Angeles - Papeete (Capital of Tahiti). Of course, the plane tickets cost a lot. You'll get them for 2000 euros, if you're lucky. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!

Reisimise head küljed

The second reason, why so many young people travel to other countries is that they want to become an exchange student. This also includes very much travelling and seeing the land. Unfortunately, it might be a sad travel because of missing their family. From a religious and historical point of view, it can be said that travelling can be really helpful if it comes to gaining knowledge about the history of the country where a person is staying at. But a person must know at least something about the country because there might be totally different traditions and you might get into a disgraceful situation. In my opinion, young people should grab every opportunity to travel because it gives you a paggage of knowledge that you can learn only practically.

Having a job while studying

,,free time" to earn money, they enter to the grown-up world too soon, not to mention the fact that these working students usually do not have enough time for their personal life, relationships with opposite gender will suffer. They lose piece of their childhood. However, these students who are working while their studyies, are more prepared to real life, life where they have to deal with all kind of hard situations like feeding and supporting your family and kids. Last but not least argument for having a job while studying is that these students simplify their parents life by earning some of their tuitions fee or just pocket-money. Taking everything into account, having a job while studying, should be students own decision, parents should only slightly direct their kids, not determine strictly, what should and what shouldn´t.

ELSA CLAY

Hi, my name is Elsa Clay and I studied at an all-girls Catholic high school .And here are some answers to the questions about my school. First, yes, we wear uniforms what consist of button-down blue or white blouses or polo shirts and a pleated blue and green plaid skirt. At our school we do not wear a miniskirt teamed with thigh-high socks, pink lipstick and a bare midriff. But we do have casual days when we can dress down at least once a month. Sometimes some of us are barley recognizable without uniform. Second, no boys in our school, and it's a relief not having to deal with the distractions during class time. There are two all-boys school in neighborhood and they hold open dances that are great for checking out prospective prom dates. Third, girls sports are extremely popular in our school. When our school plays another at basketball, our tiny gym is packed with crazy fans cheering on their classmates

To be or not to be a vegeterian

kidneys run around in our body, and it is painful. It is clear, that for life we need many more nutritions, what we can get from green food. On the other hand it is healthy to be a vegeretian. People, who does not eat meat are fit and this is healthy. Our heart can work well and vegeterians dont need to worry about stroke because their body dont consist cholesterol. Maybe they can live longer, but it is not proved. And last, but not least , a vegeterians temper need to be strong. Because they can not eat everything tasty food, what other people eat all the time, like beacon, cheese, ham or even eggs. I believe that it is difficult to keep away from all this kind of food. finally, being vegeterian has both good and bad points but i think that being a vegeterian is hard to humans body and mind but it is easier to keep fit.

Estonians: What we’re really like

Estonians: What we're really like In my opinion Estonians are quite serious, we work hard and we're well-educated. We love to travel and a lot of people have a job or go to school somewhere outside Estonia. Ernest Hemingway once said that at least one Estonian can be found in every part of the world. Many of us have emigrated to the US, Canada or Australia. Some of them came back after the restauration of the independence in 1991. Estonia is a quite young country with painful history but I think we've been strong and kept our heads up. We may have a little country but it doesn't mean that the people are small too. The Estonians are more self-confident than you can ever imagine. We have many talented people, especially

Letter to Kate

How are you? What you've done during the three weeks after Christmas holidays? Well, I've been to school for all those weeks. Last week we watched a really interesting film. The film was about secrets in our Universe. It made me feel more self- confident and I realized that the World is about me and what I want, not about what I will never archive or never get, because if I really want something and work for it, I know I will get what I want. Well, at least some of it. My view of life has changed completely. You definitely should watch it. It's educational and interesting at the same time! Besides it is even as a book. So you can read about that instead of watching the film. I've seen the book at the store, it wasn't very expensive, so I really recommend you to get the film or buy the book. I hope you will reply soon. I miss you terribly and I want to hear what's going on with you. Best wishes, Helen.

Windpower

Wind power is very old power source, sailing ships have been using wind power for at least 5,500 years. The first practical windmills were built in Afghanistan, from the 7th century to grind corn and draw up water. The first windmill for electricity production was built in Scotland in 1887 to power the lighting in the cottage, thus making it the first house in the world to have its electricity supplied by wind power. During the Second World War, small wind generators were to recharge submarine batteries. In the 1990s, wind power became more important, because fossil fuels pollute the atmosphere and humanity needed alternative fuels. That's because wind power is so necessary. Wind power is also renewable energy and it doesn't cause greenhouse gases. Building windmills is actually quite expensive and they need repairing or replacing about every 12-15 years. And strong winds can also break the wind turbines. Considering these thin...

Kiri sõbrale (teema tervislik toitumine)

Dear Alice, Date: I received your nice letter and I understood that you're interested in healthy lifstyle. If you want to start, I suggest to start checking what you eat. You should eat a lot of fruits, fresh vegetables and "green stuff", because fresh food contains most of the necessary vitamins. I don't forbid you from anything, but I think you should avoid fries, hamburgers, potato chips and sweets. Did you know, that it is important to eat everything you like, but in the right amount - not too much and not too little? It is not good for you to think too much about your weight, it is too stressful. Just have whatever you like, but control yourself - veggies instead of fries, etc. A good workout is the second most important thing in leading a healthy lifstyle. I suggest you to go jogging, it is pleasant and at the same time, cheap. You should exercise at lea...

The Mayor Environmental Problems in Estonia

It affects nature and peoples health causing them breathing problems. Secondly, huge amounts of waste are being produced every day and it is all because of overconsumption. Although, in recent years peoples knowledge about recycling and using eco-friendly products have improved, there are more landfills in Estonia than ever before. The government should take some actions and instead of talking about recession, improve recycling programs. Last but not least, abuse of the natural resources is also a big problem in Estonia. Big fatories let their waste run into the rivers without cleaning it and farmers use man-made fertilizers. Their actions spoil groundwater. We must not take water for granted but we should conserve it. To sum up, we all should help the environment. We need to change our attitude, behaviour and habits and inform the public with the help of the media and the problems will eventually improve. Merit Vislapu 11R

A review of bowel and bladder control development

Almost all children have wetting and/or soiling accidents at one time or another. An estimated 15% to 20% of children will become partially toilet trained but continue to have wetting accidents after age 5. ENCOPRESIS Children with encopresis (chronic fecal soiling at age 4 and older) typically soil during the day and are unaware of and unable to control their soiling accidents. ENURESIS Enuresis, repeated (at least twice monthly) involuntary voiding during the day or night in otherwise normal children 5 to 6 years of age (or once monthly for older children), is by far the most common type of voiding problem presenting to the officebased pediatrician.
