but is ineffective or far from optimal in practice.[1][2] The term was coined in 1995 by Andrew Koenig,[3] inspired by Gang of Four's book Design Patterns, which developed the concept of design patterns in the software field. The term was widely popularized three years later by the book AntiPatterns, which extended the use of the term beyond the field of software design and into general social interaction. According to the authors of the latter, there must be at least two key elements present to formally distinguish an actual anti- pattern from a simple bad habit, bad practice, or bad idea: · Some repeated pattern of action, process or structure that initially appears to be beneficial, but ultimately produces more bad consequences than beneficial results, and · A refactored solution that is clearly documented, proven in actual practice and repeatable.

Sunflower

Cultivar differences in maturity are usually associated with changes in vegetative period before the head is visible. IV. Environment requirements: A. Climate: Sunflower is grown in many semi-arid regions of the world from Argentina to Canada and from central Africa into the Soviet Union. It is tolerant of both low and high temperatures but more tolerant to low temperatures. Sunflower seeds will germinate at 39°F, but temperatures of at least 46 to 50°F are required for satisfactory germination. Seeds are not affected by vernalization (cold) in the early germination stages. Seedlings in the cotyledon stage have survived temperatures down to 23°F. At later stages freezing temperatures may injure the crop. Temperatures less than 28°F are required to kill maturing sunflower plants. Optimum temperatures for growth are 70 to 78°F, but a wider range of temperatures (64 to 91°F) show little effect on productivity

tomatoes, onions and many spices. Settler cookery South Africa was settled from the seventeenth century by colonists from the Netherlands, Germany and France, and later by arrivals from the British Isles. These colonists brought European cookery styles with them. Cape Dutch Traditional cookery of South Africa is often refered to as "Cape Dutch". This cuisine is characterized by the use of spices such as nutmeg, allspice and hot peppers. The Cape Dutch cookery style owes at least as much to the cookery of the slaves brought by the Dutch East India Company to the Cape from Bengal, Java and Malaysia as it does to the European styles of cookery imported by settlers, and this is reflected in the use of eastern spices and the names given to many of these dishes. Indian cookery Curry dishes are popular in South Africa among people of all ethnic origins; many dishes came to the country with the thousands of Indian labourers brought to South Africa in the nineteenth century.

Juhul kui kaugus jääb 10 meetri piiridesse, saab kasutada odavamat (ca 15 krooni meeter) veerandtollist kaablit. Kui vahemaa on suurem ja koht kust signaali saadakse kaugemal (810 kilomeetrit), on mõistlik kasutada pooletollist kaablit, mille hind juba umbes 50 krooni meeter. The Cataclysmic Death of Stars

supercomputers can't fully reproduce an exploding star in three dimensions. But over the years the models have improved, and the shock wave scenario has fallen apart. Researchers found that less than a thousandth of a second after the shock wave is generated, a flood of tiny, nearly massless particles called neutrinos escapes from the center of the star. The neutrinos, born in the collapsing core, drain energy from the shock wave. The shock stalls, and-- at least in the computer--the supernova is a dud. Now Burrows and his colleagues are working with a computer model powerful enough to simulate how the core shakes and churns during the collapse, and they've finally seen how a collapsing star could turn around and explode. The turbulent infalling gas starts shaking the core, causing it to pulsate. Raining down from the star's outer layers, the gas wraps around the core, dancing over its surface and penetrating its depths.

The Great Plague In London

There may have been a belief that if they dressed in a bird mask, they will have the ability to draw the plague away from the victim and onto the habiliment the plague doctor wore. The gas helmet also included eyepieces which were made out of red glass. People thought those who wore that mask would be safe from evil. The beak of the helmet was filled with aromatic herbs and spices to overpower the miasmas or "bad air" which was also thought to carry the plague. At the very least, it may have dulled the smell of unburied corpses, sputum, and ruptured in plague victims. (Grand Gallimaufry homepage: http://sylvaansuz.wordpress.com/2009/12/09/the-plague-doctors-garb/) The overcoat worn by the plague doctor was tucked in behind the beak mask at the neckline to minimize skin exposure. It extended to the feet, and was often coated head to toe in suet or wax. A coating of suet may have been used with the thought that the plague could be drawn

Street Art

Tallinn University Briti ja Ameerika kunst ja kultuur 20.-21. sajandil GRA6221 Course project: Street Art Viktoria Gumennaja 2018 INTRODUCTION "The city's the best gallery I could imagine." — JR I choose the topic for writing an essay - street art. Why did I choose this genre? Because for me it is something magical and special, not at all similar to those works that are in museums, at exhibitions and so on. Think for yourself, because street art began with the graffiti, and now we can see on the streets of our city just a work of art. I think graffiti, by the way, is also a great and invaluable work. Trends are changing. Now, young artists are moving from an endless unthinking tagging to a more conceptual and rich sense, abstract and volumetric work. Street art has become popular among the general public, becau...

If this threatening notice exposed at least one witch, her treial could be used to unearth several more. Kramer and Sprenger gave detailed instructions. Commonly, the accused was stripped naked and shaved of all her body hair, then subjected to thumb-screws and the rack, spikes and bone- crushing ,,boots," starvation and beatings. The point is obvious: The witch-craze did not arise spontaneously in the peasantry. It was a calculated ruling class campaign of terrorization.

Their cholesterol intake was naturally very low compared to other diet groups and they also consumed the most fiber [Table 3]. Dietary fiber is also said to help lower cholesterol levels by moving cholesterol particles out of the body and is therefore associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease.24

Anthropology and Tourism

For instance, in Saudi Arabia women 3 Anthropology of Tourism Madli Tuvike need permission for travel, education or even healthcare (Reuters, 2013). This makes women more constrained in their travel than men (Jackson & Henderson, 1995). On the contrary, in the USA it is estimated that 32 million single American women have travelled at least once in 2012 (The Gutsy Traveler, 2013). Moreover, America sees a growing trend in adventure travel: the average adventure traveller is not a 28-year old male anymore, but a 47-year-old female (The Gutsy Traveler, 2013). When relying on these examples, then female adventure tourism is clearly influenced by cultural trends. As a result, the western society is afraid to travel to Middle East, and female in Middle East cannot travel abroad, creating a cultural wall between the two worlds.

In fact, nowadays, every bigger company, who has to deal with massive amounts of users, has its own big data database or at least access to one. List of some used based ones: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Amazon, Google, Netflix. The ones mentioned above all share common features, such as: - Having enormous databases. - Collecting user data and classifying them in groups, where they share similar traits like age, what they like and how they see the world. - Selling and exchanging user information to reap personal benefit.

Even though he used some clichés of the time in portraying the "uncivilized" traits of his Native American characters, Cooper became the first American novelist who featured Native Americans and their culture prominently but credibly in his work. At least, Cooper tried to declare that the acculturation that took place in the WhiteNative American encounters was a twoway appropriation, even in a limited sense. He wanted to show that while acculturation mostly occurred in the form of Native Americans gradually conforming to white cultural standards, the white colonists could and did appropriate certain elements of native culture, particularly those practical elements which proved useful under colonial conditions

One of Contessa’s male offspring turned from silver to golden as an adult. An adult Silver Persian from England (Lynchard Silver Shadow) was exported to Australia and also turned golden. Shadow had a few golden hairs on his paw, but did not turn golden until he was a year old when his coat turned to pale beige. By 3 years old he was entirely pale golden. Shadow was bred to a genetically golden female, but the pairing only produced silver offspring. However, at least one of his silver offspring later turned pale golden. Other descendents of Contessa also went through the late colour change. During the 1980s, several other breeders of Shaded Silver and Chinchilla Persians came forward to report that their cats had developed reddish, brownish or golden-coloured fur along their spines as they aged. Many of the cats had no golden in their ancestry. At first it was dismissed as an unavoidable

And in particular, to great universities. In theory there could be other ways to attract them, but so far universities seem to be indispensable. Within the US, there are no technology hubs without first-rate universities-- or at least, first-rate computer science departments. So if you want to make a silicon valley, you not only need a university, but one of the top handful in the world. It has to be good enough to act as a magnet, drawing the best people from thousands of miles away. And that means it has to stand up to existing magnets like MIT and Stanford. This sounds hard. – have built mock-ups of their projects before beginning construction in order to resolve unforeseen design issues and check for constructability. During the last decade, this model-building has moved into the virtual world in the form of Building Information Modeling (BIM). The idea of an intelligent information rich building model is not new. The identity of BIM dates back nearly 30 years, while the terminology of the “Building Information Model” has been in circulation for at least 15 years. Mass production and standardization that dominated the 20th century steel industry, is now, as a result of the proliferation of 3D computer aided design and manufacturing tools, turning into mass customization. The first notable steel structure to utilize 3D modeling was a copper-clad fish sculpture designed by Frank Gehry for Barcelona’s 1992 Olympic village. A key reason for Gehry’s adaptation of digital tools was the increasingly

The convent was divided into three parts. The central part was the church with its 34-metre-high gable. The left wing was for the nuns and the priests lived in the right wing. The church building was completed and consecrated in 1436. Other buildings took longer to build they were completed at the beginning of the 16th century. The number of nuns was not to exceed sixty according to the regulations of the Order. A girl who wished to become a nun had to be at least 18 years old. The priests could not be younger than 25. The decline of the cloister began during the Livonian War (1558-1583). The fire of 1564 caused considerable damage to the buildings. The convent suffered its final destruction in 1577 at the hands of Ivan the Terrible. 5. Museums Kiek in de Kök is a tower in the Town Wall that stands on Harjumägi (Harju Hill), a former bastion

10 II Aperture  Hole where light can pass through.  The size of the aperture is described as an "f-stop." This is a number that describes the size of the hole in relation to the focal length of the lens. The aperture affects the image’s exposure by changing the diameter of the lens opening, which controls the amount of light reaching the image sensor. Some digital compacts will have a fixed aperture lens, but most of today’s compact cameras have at least a small aperture range. This range will be expressed in f/stops. Topic of Australia

"Bee Gees" got worldwide attention with songs like "Saturday Night Fever" and "Staying Alive" In the 80's pub rock and dance music took over and pushed Kylie Minogue on the same level with the greatest stars ever. She is loved all over the world even today. In the 90's alternative music reached its peak and gave a band called "Savage Garden" reputation that was higher than the Eiffel tower :) After the millennium, pop was still popular, but hip-hop and garage rock were at least as popular as pop music. TV, Radio Television is an important part of the culture in Australia just like in every other country. The first TV channels were ABC and SBS. In 1975 Australia went over to color TV. In 2001 broadcasting became digital and Digital TV was the only way to see TV. An important part of an Australian's day is of course serials. "Home and Alone", "McLeod's Daughters" and "Neighbors" are known worldwide and are loved by millions.

The Most Important Buildings in Lai Street in Tallinn

Concerned about their sailors and guests of the city, they wished to erect a lighthouse that could be seen even from the shores of Finland. On the other hand, the magistrate and the citizens wanted to use the excesses of their funds to create such an architectural masterpiece for their hometown, the likes of which could not hav been found in any other European city. Tallinn's architects of the old days probably aimed to reach the Heavenly Father or to defy the skies at least. 14 Summary The aim of the report was to find additional material about the houses on Lai Street that would be helpful for the students of Tallinna Mustamäe College while doing their guide practice exam in form eleven. In conclusion, we can say that although there is literature available on this subject, it is mostly found in the Estonian language, or written many years ago, and no longer entirely accurate. There is certainly a need for up-to-date literature on the subject. The

Eripedagoogide kutse-eetika konspekt

Eripedagoogide kutse-eetika 1.Praktilise eetika kujunemine ja areng. Mõisted/teooriad: Eetika kui distsipliin, mis tegeleb väärtusi puudutavate küsimustega. Eetika keskne küsimus on, kuidas peaks elama.

This year the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation published a joint research Doing Business 2011, under which Georgia ranks 12th among 183 countries in terms of Ease of Doing Business. Moreover, Georgia surpasses 174 counties in terms of reformation of business regulations since 2005. Last but not least, Georgia ranks first in the Post-soviet space, excluding the Baltic countries, in terms of counter-corruption policy. It is worth noting that de- spite the current difficulties related to the global financial crisis, Georgia managed to overcome economic challenges due to economic liberalization reforms. In this direction, Georgian Govern- ment made several important steps: Tax -The administration of tax and customs systems has been simplified. The number and rates

or video device when this happens? If your system isn’t constructed to permit your data stream to have a high priority, some data may be lost. If you are using a PC-like architecture, be sure the hardware and operating system soft- ware will support the things you need to do. Hardware Requirements Do you need a floating-point processor to do calculations on the data you will be processing? If so, you won’t be able to use a simple 8-bit processor, you will need at least a 486-class machine. Does the data rate require a processor with a DMA controller in order to keep up? This limits your potential CPU selec- tions to just a few. In some cases, you can make system adaptations that will lower hardware costs, as the following example will illustrate. Imagine that you have a motor-driven wheel that produces an interrupt to your processor every 20° of rotation (see Figure 1.2). The motor runs at varying

It means we have within the African immigrant group individuals with more professional degrees – medical doctors, engineers, economists, scientists and others in various fields. But the question is what has our being the most educated immigrant group done for us or for our people. Well, to say the least and to be really magnanimous, the answer is absolute nothing. “Well, with all that education, you would have thought that we would be in the same position economically that the so called groups which are “below” us in education have attained. Rather, we behave like economic illiterates than educated ones. We are ashamed of who we are and what we are. 18

Australia topic

All that has changed now. Australia has grown up. Sydney is one of the artistic capitals of the world. World famous Australian actors and artists don't have to travel to Europe or America anymore- people come to Australia to see them. Cinemas now also show Australian films. History Australia may well be the home of the worlds first people. Stone tools were discovered in New South Wales, in 1971. It shows that humans lived in Australia at least twelve thousand years before they appeared in Europe. The first Europeans to arrive in Australia were the Dutch who tried to reach the East Indies, but landed on the western coast in 1611. They thought Australia was an arid land inhabited by fierce savages. In 1770 captain James Cook discovered the eastern coast and had a better outlook. He explored the coast and named it the Botany Bay because he found many unknown plants there.

Aforismid

112. It hurts when you have someone in your heart, but you can't have them in your arms. 113. You said, you couldn't stand to see my heart broken. So, when you broke it, did you close your eyes? 114. On hetki, mil me mõistus ütleb ei, kuid soov on suur, taas leida see, mis kord sai lastud käest... 115. Armastust on parem võita ühe suudlusega, kui kümne kirjaga. 116. When the person you like walks by you in the hallway and smiles. Your day is better knowing that at least 10 seconds of his day he thought about you... 117. Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone truly special to catch your heart. 118. Armastus on nagu pind, tungib sügavale südamesse.. Ja teda on valus välja tõmmata. 119. Tunded on tugevad, kuid mina olen tugevam. Ma ütlesin et mine, ja sa läksid. Ma ütlesin et ära tule iial tagasi, ja sa ei tulnud. Miks uskusid mu sõnu ja ei vaadanud mu silmadesse. BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

tHE BRITISH ISLES In the United Kingdom (UK), and even more in Ireland, district heating is not really an established phenomenon. Error: Reference source not found shows that residences mostly are heated with gas in the UK, often through a gas boiler for the individual household. Oil is the most common fuel in Irish homes but gas is expanding. The largest problem is district heating distribution (Table I). It is expensive and complicated to build DH networks in already built areas and, at least in the UK, it is not straightforward to obtain a licence for putting district heating pipes into streets. The financing difficulties in the British Isles are primarily due to a fragmented value chain with many contract issues that need to be solved before a larger district heating scheme can be deployed. British thinking is based on competition and individual choices. A collective large scale solution, such as district heating, may conflict with principles and tradition
