Film review Chocolat

She is a single mother with a young daughter. In village was the beginning of fasting and people weren’t eating so much. Vianne moves with her daughter into a disused bakery facing the church, where a man - Francis Reynaud - watches her arrival with disapproval and is suspicious. When he realizes that Vianne wants to open a chocolate shop in place of the old bakery, influencing the church-goers, Reynaud’s disapproval increases more. As it becomes clear that villagers are being influenced by Vianne, he quickly sees her as danger. Under Vianne’s control an old woman starts a new life, a wife finds courage to leave her mean husband, children rebel against authority and Reynaud’s community is danger of falling apart. Soon is Easter and Vianne and Reynaud start preparing: Vianne for a chocolate festival, Reynaud for winning back hearts of the villagers. At first, I thought this film is an uninteresting old film. However, I found out that it is really thrilling and fascinating

agree that television promotes violence. In the first place, in the past couple of years the number of violent children has increased by ten percent. That is due to badly influencing shows that are being shown on the television. Children are not understanding the boundary between reality and imagination. That is the real problem with the younger generation. You always have to make sure that they watch movies and shows that are suitable for their age group. Secondly, all people from all ages get influenced by the television if they watch a lot of horror and action movies. It is proved, that if you constantly watch violent movies, your personality starts to change and you may become violent yourself. To sum up, television may promote violence and you always have to be sure not to watch too many thrillers or action movies. That way your attitude against everything else will not change. Also, be sure to watch shows that are appropriate for you. Heti-Maria Vilu

The work repelled him, however. He worked briefly in a drugstore, returned for a stint as a draper's assistant, then finally found a job as a teacher's assistant in a grammar school. Education and academia suited him well. In 1884 he entered college with a scholarship to study biology. He was able to study under one of the great biology teachers of the time, Thomas Henry Huxley, and Wells graduated in 1888. The writings of Jules Verne undoubtably influenced Wells, and he wrote his first novel, The Time Machine, partly in response to this new kind of literature that Verne produced. The story appeared in various forms in magazines from 1888 to 1894 and was released in its current form in 1895. The book was successful, and Wells did not need to teach or worry about money from that time on. Wells' early novels continued in the science fiction mode of The Time Machine. Nägemis taju, Gibson VS Gregory

Gregory argues that when we experience a visual illusion what we perceive may not be physically present in the retinal image. Illusions can essentially be explained when our perceptual assumption is not confirmed by the data, so our interpretation of the stimulus is inappropriate. Gregory (1970), (cited in Gross, 2005, pp 255) demonstrates good evidence for this view with a rotating hollow mask, where the mask can be seen hollow or normal. The assumption being selected is strongly influenced by past experience of faces. According to Gibson's view of optic flow where the perception is seen as a result from interaction with the environment and also within movement it is possible to perceive that the mask is hollow. Therefore a weakness of Gregory's´ theory is that it lacks ecological validity because it does not focus on everyday perception, but rare `abnormalities of perception'. Evidence for Gregory's view comes from demonstrations and visual illusions showing

The economy is greatly influenced by developments in Finland, Sweden, Russia, and Germany, four major trading partners. The high current account deficit remains a concern. The Price of Everlasting Youth Everlasting youth is something that people value most when they are already older. But Dorian captured the ideal moment which he wanted to be eternal. His decision was influenced by Harry's ideas and the portrait of him where he saw how beautiful he was. Dorian wished that he could remain young forever and his portrait would get older. Harry was a friend of Basil's, the artist who painted Dorian's picture, and he had quite peculiar ideas of life. He told Dorian that youth is the most relevant in life and that everyone should enjoy it. Basil knew that Harry wouldn't be good influence for young boy, but he wasn't able to prevent their encounter.

Advertising has a bad influence on children

One thing is that the people who are in junk food commercials are usually thin not fat and in some age children may think than when they eat junk food they become as thin as the models in these commercials. Thirdly, parents are often worried about what their children are looking from TV, but parents can not always protect them from bad influencing ads or commercials. Parents should teach to their children the importance and value of money. Also they should talk about how to become less influenced by the messages in the ads and how to be critical of ads. Parents should also set limits for example how long kids can watch TV or play on the computer. In conclusion, I think that advertising has bad influence when parents do not look what their kids are watching from TV or from Internet. On the other hand it is our task to not let us and our children to get affected by the advertisements.

Philosophy today

emerging, E. Husserl was developing his "phenomenological" approach to philosophy. He too emphasized high standards of clarity and precision, but sought them more in the rigorous description of our immediate experience (the phenomena) than in the logical analysis of concepts or language. Continental Philosophy In "Being and Time" Heidegger turned phenomenology toward "existential" questions about freedom, anguish and death. Later, French thinkers influenced by Husserl and Heidegger, especially Sartre and Merleau-Ponty, developed their own versions of phenomenologically based existentialism. Continental Philosophy The term "continental philosophy" was the invention of analytic philosophers of the mid-20th century who wanted to distinguish themselves from the phenomenologists and existentialists of continental Europe. Over the last 50 years, the term has been extended to

How does the United States influence Estonia?

Article 5. Therefore, it is important for us to be in good political relations with America because it is the most influential member of the organization. To stay in good terms some of our political decisions might be affected by the United States, however, it will stay out of the public view. Although Estonia is not directly dependant on America economically but as the United States’ economy has an effect on the global economy, we are bound to be influenced indirectly. In the cultural aspect, Americanisation is taking spreading all over the world. In our everyday life, we are exposed to American culture because it is everywhere: music, films, food. With the development of Internet and technology, the access to different cultures has become easier and the impact to our culture more noticeable. Also in today’s society we are not limited by the state borders, therefore we can consume goods and media without any resistance.

Architecture Early Anglo-Saxon buildings in Britain were generally simple, constructed mainly using timber with thatch for roofing. The Anglo-Saxons built small towns near their centres of agriculture. In each town, a main hall was in the centre. The architectural character of Anglo- Saxon ecclesiastical buildings range from Coptic influenced architecture in the early period; basilica influenced Romanesque architecture; and in the later Anglo-Saxon period, an architecture characterised by pilaster-strips, blank arcading, baluster shafts and triangular headed openings. There are few remains of Anglo-Saxon architecture, with no secular work remaining above ground. All surviving churches, except one timber church, are built of stone or brick and in some cases show evidence of re-used Roman work. Women writer's influence on our society

She lived 1890-1942. Her first poem collection was ,,Mure-lapse laulud" in translation ,,Problem child's songs". Her talent was noticed, but she didn't have a change to really become famous. She was in a great penury that made her life really though and she had a gentle soul. Thanks to all that in 1919 she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. She isn't really famous poet in Estonia, but I chose her because when you read her poems you can really feel the pain she has been through. Her poems influenced lots of people with their fresh style and deep and painful content. These made people think about depths of life. Next writer I am going to talk about is Elisabeth Aspe. She lived in 1860-1927. She was an early realist, back at that time most people wrote about different things. Critics have said that her works were very interesting in many different ways. Her first well-known novel was Stepsister, it's a story about an orphan girl's fate

Estonia is not economically dependent on the United States because they are not one of our most important trading partners, but as the economics of the United States has a great influence on the world economy, they can still indirectly have an influence on Estonian economy. Estonia is mainly influenced by the Americanization that is taking over the whole world. American products are everywhere: movies, music, trademarks. We eat at McDonalds, drink Coca-Cola basically everywhere, watch American movies from the TV every night, we go to school/work and listen to the radio which, surprise surprise, plays us American music. Luckily we have not caught up with the obesity problem that they have. Although we are getting there already.

Metallica concert review

may 11,2018..Metallica performed 18 songs from the following albums: Kill ‘Em All (2), Ride the Lightning (3), Master of Puppets (2), …And Justice for All (1), Metallica (4), Reload (1), and Hardwired…To Self-Destruct (5).Metal music is powerful music, but what I mean here is that Metallica is powerful as a band. Their ability to emotionally connect with fans all over the world is indeed a powerful thing. Metallica has been a constant presence for 30+ years in pop culture.Metallica has influenced plenty of rock and metal artists these days, like Sepultura, KoRn, Slipknot, Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, and avenged septuple. In a review of their concert, it was amazing. Their melodic touch to the “trashiness” was beautifully placed and gave their songs an edge over the others. For example: Fight fire with fire, Battery, Fade to Black, and constant use of melodic sections as seen in Master of Puppets as well. But what really elevated Metallica in my eyes was the album And Justice

Tolerance and diversity

Tolerance and diversity Tolerance is a very important issue for the people all over the world. Sadly the lack of it has influenced us more than the existence. On the other hand people have always liked the diversity of this world. For example, we can't imagine life without our Chinese food, Italian pasta and especially McDonalds , can we? We have to admit that it would be very unpleasant without simple things like these so is it so hard for us to cope with different types of people? We live our lives differently and see the world in different ways, everyone use words that they feel like using , but in the end we are all trying to answer the same question. There is no such thing as the correctness of one people with his religion because each and every one of us thinks that the one he believes is the only real. You do not have to like the same food, dress the same way or listen to the same music as your frie...

Egypt

Around 90% are identified as Muslim.Religion plays a central role in most Egyptians' lives.Cairo is famous for its numerous mosque minarets and is justifiably dubbed "the city of 1,000 minarets", [96] with a significant number of church towers. (Culture)Egyptian culture has six thousand years of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was among the earliest civilizations and for millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Middle East and other African countries. After the Pharaonic era, Egypt itself came under the influence of Hellenism, Christianity, and Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of Egypt's ancient culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including the influence of modern Western culture, itself with roots in ancient Egypt. (Art and architecture)The Egyptians were one of the first major civilizations to codify design elements in art and architecture

It belongs to the Finno-Ugric language family, which also includes Finnish and Hungarian. Estonian dialects are divided into two groups, Northern and Southern, usually associated with biggest cities of those regions Tallinn, the capital, in the north and Tartu, second largest city, in the south. In some of the southern regions, people speak Seto and Võro dialects, which are sometimes considered to be separate languages altogether. Dialects spoken in northern Estonia are more influenced by Swedish and Finnish, especially along the coast and on the islands. One of the oldest traditions in Estonia is The Song Festival. The Estonian Song Festival is one of the largest amateur choral events in the world. It is held every five years in July on the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds. The tradition of the song festival was born along with Estonian national awakening. Reflective Statement Antigone

At the same time Antigone actively believes in the Gods and bases justifications to her actions on the will of the Gods. Through the characters of Antigone and Creon, Sophocles is able to express his ideas about the balance between the artificial man- made world in comparison to the natural laws and traditions. The conflict between man and nature presented in Antigone has deepened my understanding of the customs and traditions of the ancient Greek era and influenced my perception of our current world. The conflict is still relevant today, when we argue about the issues of abortion and gay rights, which are both religiously frowned upon, and try to find the balance between beliefs and traditions from the past, while accustoming them to our world today. Why should tourists visit Estonia?

Why should tourists visit Estonia? I have always though of my country as a huge ,,multicultural city". We have so many different cultures from different places put into a little place all together that you could almost say we are a huge city not a country. And that has influenced us in a very remarcable way. Since the time we can remember we have been under Danes, Swedes, Germans, Russians, Polans and other. We have taken their traditions into our daily lives and forgotten ours. But still despite the fact that we bearly know our own language structure or our old traditions,we try to awake them once again. Estonia is one of the worlds wealthiest countries when it comes to forests. Almost half of the country is covered with the divercity of trees

Our Man in Havana Book R

Liis Mägi, 12c I chose a book by Graham Greene titled ,,Our man in Havana". The reason why I decided to read exactly this book was that I found the plot introductory quite interesting and as I started reading I realised I was right. I found it quite humorous book, written in the third person and set in Havana, Cuba. The story is quite easy to follow. The novel was written right before the American embargo and the Cuba missile crisis of the 1960's, so the author was quite surely influenced by the political events at that time and created his own vision of the future. The main character of this book is Jim Wormlod, who is a vacuum cleaner salesman, but is offered a job in the British secret service by Hawthorne. He has to spy on Cuba for England. Jim lives with his daughter Milly, because his wife had left them for another man. Milly is quite demanding, having many wishes and because ebeing in lack of money,Jim decides to take the job offer. As Jim does not have any real

Otherkin subculture (beliefs, behaviour, influences)

garlic, silver, some kinds of wood, whilst other otherkin (usually half-dragons) claim that having no allergies at all is a sign of being an otherkin. Some otherkin also claim to be especially empathic and attuned to nature. Influences- Tales about werewolfs, vampires, dragons, arcangels have been told hundreds years before the first otherkin community was founded. It is obvious that these stories and strange events connected to these stories influenced the appearance of real vampires and half-unicorns but there comes the question- where were the otherkins two hundred years ago? Or why did they firstly appear only 20 years ago? Well, it is believed that non-human humans always lived on the planet, thruout the history but only in 1990-s they had a chance to talk about themselves, after the World experienced so much- two world wars, genocide etc. Only then could the otherkins talk about themselves without a fear of being bullied.
