Me and languages

Most of the jobs in Estonia are demand for Russian. I started my studies in Tallinn University of Technology a few weeks ago. I had the oppurtunity to choose my subjects and one of them was French. I was really exited, beacause learning French has been my dream for years and now I can make my dream come true. I have to admit that learning French is really difficult at first, but I hope that in the future it will be easier. The teacher is very hortative and always praise and for me it is really important. It is always a pleasure to go to his lesson and it is pleasure to learn. To sum up, I have learned languages quite a long time and I hope that it will last. In the future I definitely want to learn Spanish and Chinese. I always look forward to improve myself and get new knowledges. Keit Kallas

TEST - the history of London

TEST – The history of London 1) London was definitely not an important place during the Celtic period. It was just a mosquito-infested swamp. 2) London became a trading centre during the Roman occupation. It was an important crossing point for the Romans over the river Thames. Market forces began to operate. With troops stationed and ships calling, merchants will inevitably set up shops. 3) The Celtic warrior queen Boudicca and her tribesmen fought against the Roman conquest and devastated Londinium. The city was burned down and its inhabitants massacred. 4) London was rapidly rebuilt and in AD 122 the Roman walls were built around it as a defence.

Analysis of an article

Analysis of an article: ,,"Pealtnägija": Estonians hope to save the planet with meat substitute" (,,"Pealtnägija": eestlased loodavad asenduslihaga planeeti päästa") Getter Suup 03.05.2017 Impact: 8/10 I think that our eating habits and the future of them is an important topic. Since the number of humans living on planet Earth keeps rising, it is important to raise awarness on how the way we eat will affect (and affects) the planet that we're living on. Since the news were published in one of Estonia's biggest newspapers, Postimees, and also in a video format in ,,Pealtnägija", I believe that it will make hundreds of people to change the way they think and might-be even to consume less meat. Still, this topic probably does not have such a great

Advantages and disadvantages of television

Today some people become TV addicts and feel - unhappy if they fail to find another way of passing leisure time. Free time is regulated by television. TV occupies our free time. Instead of going to the theatre or reading books people watch TV. People rush home, gulp food to be in time to watch their favourite programmes. Very often programmes are bad, as TV cannot keep pace with demand. People have stopped reading books and depend on TV pictures. Spoken words become more important that the written ones. TV cuts people from the real world. The virtual world becomes more important. TV is absolutely irrelevant to real living. No surprise that television is often called "chewing gum for men's brains." People become lazy, instead of doing sports they watch TV. Television takes free time of the people. Instead of joining a choir or playing football or reading books people watch various programmes. Dinnertime is often pressed by television if it is not in the kitchen

Health topic

If we don't sleep enough, we may fall ill beacuse a tired body cannot resist illnesses. Our health also depends on the clothes we wear. In winter, when it is cold, we should wear warm clothes. Then our clothes keep in the body's heat and in summer they should let it escape. Loose clothing is better than tight clothing beacause it allows the wearer to move about more easily and does not interfere with the circulation of the blood. Being clean is also very important. We feel and look better if we are clean. A person should have a shower a day to keep himself clean. Keeping oneself clean includes brushing our teeth. What we eat also affects our health. Our body needs vitamins and minerals, fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Our food should be varied. It is not healty to eat too much sweets. When we eat more food and get more calories than our body uses, we get fat. It is also good for our health to drink a few glasses of fresh water every day.

Canada

Central Canada which includes Ontario and Quebec is not the geographical centre of Canada. It is called that because it has historically been the political and economic centre of the country. Central Canada is the most heavily populated and industrialised area. In there lie the Great Lakes the largest body of fresh water in the world. Some of the first settlements in Canada were, naturally, built around those areas. In the Atlantic Provinces, the most important activities include fishing and farming of all sorts. Also in the Atlantic Provinces are the Appalachian Mountains old and rounded mountains. The North is also comprised of three territories. The area has a varied landscape including mountains and plains. The climate there is extremely cold with long winters and a lot of snow. Much of the area is treeless tundra. In the summer months, the sun stays up for the whole day, never setting

The aim of an article is to inform people of Ebola and make them think that it is not just a disease it is very dangerous disease because of how easily it spreads. The article "Why Ebola is so dangerous" is very current right now because the disease is spreading all the time, and more and more people are dying due to it. There is no cure for the ones with Ebola. It is very important right now to talk to people about Ebola, what are it's symptoms, and how it spreads. People have to be aware that it is very dangerous, deadly and easily spreading disease. Let's hope that scientists will work out a vaccine that helps to treat the ones with Ebola. The author used some expressions that I think are common to journalism. I have heard those expressions in news, read in newspapers and magazines For example, in some

"Legal english vs everyday english" speech

Well, I, myself, apart from learning it in this class, have never, but many others have. Legal English dates back to thousands of years and it is an essential part of law. Lately, in some cases, legalese has been smoothly replaced with plain language and for some it is unacceptable. So, why use legal English when there is already plain language that can be used instead? Body 1: Firstly, we all like to follow traditions, right? So do most lawyers. You know Latin was and is important for English law, the practice of using Latin word versus in case names (for "against") still occurs daily. Why change something that has been used and appreciated for thousands of years? Law is known for it's conservatism and legalese might have maintained so well because many lawyers have learned it's value and feel special to be one of the few who can understand it. Secondly, legal language includes some very complex linguistic

I hope, my description of the visit of that great city will be a source of pleasure for you. It was my first visit to Kolkata. We stayed there with a friend of my father. He was a kind host. He took me round some important places of the city. Kolkata is a very big place. The streets of Kolkata are full, of the crowds of people. There is such great rush-of traffic that at first I felt quite confused. Kolkata is a city of fine streets. I liked the Chawranghee most of all. On one side it is lined by tall buildings and on the other by the maidan. The maidan is a great open park where large numbers of people assemble to spend their sweet evenings. Natural resources - our treasure

These are called renewable resources. Solar radiation, wind and hydroelectricity, are perpetual resources that are in no danger of a lack of long-term availability. Some natural renewable resources such as geothermal power, fresh water, timber, and biomass must be carefully managed to avoid exceeding the worlds capability to displace them. Solar energy is the energy derived directly from the Sun. Along with nuclear energy, it is the most important source of energy on Earth. People usually use solar energy to produce electricity and heat. Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as electricity, using wind turbines. These wind turbines are popular in counties, where the average speed of the wind is at least 6 meters per second for example in Germany, Denmark, USA and India. Hydropower is energy derived from the movement of water in rivers and oceans,it can be

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

12.d “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” (Mahatma Gandhi) Mahatma Ghandi expresses that everything starts with us, our willingness to help create the world we dream of. It is unlikely that any of us will be the next Mother Teresa but every person has hidden power to do something that benefits to the society. People´s roles are nowadays as important as the next persons, even if they think that little things are insignificant and have no effect, with enough people these small things add up and make an even bigger change that any single organization or person could ever do. To be the change we want to see in the world, people do not have to be smart, rich or well educated. They need to have a dream and commitment. The problems facing the world today are great, and it will surely take the greatness of millions if not b...

This means that in today's globalized world Coca-Cola has a lot of trailblazing work done and to do. Art and Aesthetics in Early Childhood Education

(Kindler, 2001); Pariser & van den Berg. 1997). In none of these recent studies was young children's work considered to be artistically superior of the work their older peers or nonartistic adults. This suggests that the cultural criteria of artistic merit indeed played a powerful role in defining the very concept of artistic development in research that led to the universality claims of the U-shaped developmental progression. It is important to note that the repertoire model of development does not disprove the U-shape model. In pictorial repertoires tht emphasize modernist values, this prediction quite possibly continues to hold true. However, the repertoire model provides also for alternative developmental trajectories in other areas of pictorial pursuits, where technical mastery and significance than the image's overall expressive quality. The revised understanding of development in pictorial

Canada

Canada has copper, lead, silver, gold and other metals. The discovery of rich oil fields in Alberta in 1947 has made oil production one of Canada's leading industries. South of Newfoundland is one of the greatest fishing regions in the world. Much of Canada is covered with forests. A great deal of the wood from the forests in Quebec is used for making paper. Western forests produce much timber. The farms of eastern Canada are rather small. Potatoes are an important crop. Near the Great Lakes there are many orchards. Stretching west from the Great Lakes and Hudson Bay, there are great prairies. Spring wheat is the chief crop but other crops are important, too. West of the prairies there is a mountain wonderland. The Canadian Rockies are higher than the Rockies in the United States. British Columbia has a climate much like the climate of southern England. The capital is the charming city of Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Film Studies - The Black Dahlia

publised in France (bethween 1940s and 1950s). These books were translations of American novels by authors like Dashiel Hammet, Raimond Chandler and James M. Cain. The novels usually talked about a strong, violent hero (anti-hero?) who moves through a corrupt dangerous world. ``The Black Dahlia`` is based on a novel by James Ellroy and not on a true Black Dahlia (murder) case. The theme of murder/crime/violence is one of the most important themes in Film Noir. In Film Noir morality is less clear (than in Western, for example, where there are simply to sides: good vs evil). There exists a feeling of paranoia about society, as we can clearly see in this film. At first, there is not explanation, why the horrible murder has taken place, at the end, the reasons, why come out, but they are mad and frightening. Sex is the other big theme in Noir. As the years have gone by, the more the audience sees it

this: a lot of dialogues, hidden morals and messanges in stories and interesting titles. I am going to write about short-stories written by Ernest Hemingway. It is based on the book ,,The cat in the rain" which includes stories ,,A canary for one", ,,Indian camp", ,,Cat in the rain" and ,,Hills like white elephants". I am going to analyse three stories of this book - ,,A canary for one, ,,Cat in the rain" and ,,Hills like white elephants" The title is one of the most important part of the story. It is something that attracts you to read the story or the book. If the title is boring you do not want to read the book, but when it is mystical and ambiguous you just want to know what is the story about. All the titles of these three stories were methaphores and connected with animals. It is hard to guess what is the story about just looking at the title it does not sum the main events. Even if the titles were connected with animals the main characters were still humans

Dancing

It is a field of sport that keeps people beautiful. Dancing also develops one's movement. Dance is the world's most famous metaphor. It is the hidden language of the soul. Dancing is dreaming with your feet. All it takes is to convince your mind to move your feet. To touch, to move, to inspire. This is the true gift of dance. The only way to dance, is to believe in yourself and do it. It is not possible to say when dance became part of human culture. Dance has certainly been an important part of ceremony, rituals, celebrations and entertainment since before the birth of the earliest human civilizations. Archeology delivers traces of dance from prehistoric times. One of the earliest structured uses of dances may have been in the performance and in the telling of myths. It was also sometimes used to show feelings for one of the opposite gender. It is also linked to the origin of "love making." Before the production of written

Lessons for the future

Lessons for the future Education seems to be in government's, media's and people's spotlight all the time. Times change and education, as one of the most important areas of our society, needs constant reforming. Nowadays, the main focus seems to be on subjects like maths, physics, chemistry etc. because of current IT-era demands more knowledge in those regions than in humanities. I agree that Estonia's government's steps towards making maths and physics our school- system's top priority is quite right, but I think that there can be a lot more done to improve our educational structure.

London - inglise keeles kokkuvõte

LONDON The history of the town is very closely linked with the history of the country itself. The name probably comes from the celtic words Llyn, which means a lake, and Dun, which means a fort or a strong place. Although the site was not important during the Celtic period (400 BC 43 AD) During the Roman occupation Londinium, as it was called then, was not influential politically, but was, however an important crossing point for the romans over the river Thames. Londinium was at a very good place, so it soon became a trading centre. In AD 61 the city was devastated by Boudicca, who led a revolt againt the Roman conquest of Britain. The city was burned down and its inhabitants massacred. London was rapidly rebuilt, becoming the capital of the province Britannia. Filmi analüüs "Invictus"

would unite and inspire the nation. Mandela also gives Francois a British poem "Invictus", which had helped him to manage his life by the the time he was in prison. The film teaches people to accept and respect other people. Some people have an opinion that black people don't worth anything but actually every person is human being and deserves a polite and respective attitude. This film was a sheer example that the appearance isn't the most important thing, more important is that people would accept others even when they come from different cultures and nationalities. In the film Nelson Mandela tried to do all possible to connect blacks and whites and to change their prejudices. My favourite place about this film was when the Springboks team visited young and poor children, who were deeply interested about learning rugby. This moment was really heart- warming and positive, the emotions of the team members were pure and sincere.

You should write about 200 words. Books Today and Tomorrow People read books for knowledge and to pass free time. In the past people read more, because nowadays tehnology has developed so much. Powerpoint: Krumping

start looking around your region for a crew to join. There are numerous teams in all the major cities that have a base culture involving street dances of all kinds. Krumping usually involves contact between dancers. It can often look like a fight to outsiders Young people generally prefer the Krumping dance style, as it is a form through which they can express emotions and thoughts without being judged. The most important part for them is that this is a way through which they can rebel and act on various events and activities that upset them. All the emotions of the human nature can be expressed through the moves of this dance. The key to start a suitable performance is to render the particular emotion into your head and to let your body move freely to the music in a representation of what you feel. The result will be fast, tragic, emotional, furious and amusing at the same time. From this

Fashion

But with the beginning of a new century, the concept of beauty has changed in the other direction. Celebrities and their visual fashion statements affect the fashion industry and also the clothes of teenagers. “Researchers say that many teenagers are emulating celebrity idols like Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, and Chris Martin (the singer of Coldplay), some scarcely out of their teens themselves, to cultivate an impression of maturity” Young people and fashion occupy an important place in modern society. Both of these concepts are quite complex and interesting to explore, and they both are components of the culture as a whole. Fashion today permeates all spheres of life. Youth is the group to which it is directed mainly. This is understandable - the young people - the most active, creative part of the population. Fashion is dynamic - it is constantly changing. This also reflects the needs and interests of young people. 3

Urban environment that makes us move · The attractiveness, size and closeness of the public space in neighborhood is related to the adults' recreativ walking the distance to the pleasant park prognoses, if people go for a walk at all or not · Let's go deeper: do individuals achieve the so-called ,,healthy level of walking (at least 150 min per week) (do you? If not, why?) It was found that the distance to the park was less important than the existence of a park that is large, attractive and of high quality is in a walking distance (1,6 km radius) · The probable reason for the relationship bigger parks offer more diverse possibilities for physical activity (the need for active engagement AND stimuation) and more attractive environment, that smaller green spaces may not have (Sugiyama et al., 2010; Thompson, 2013). action for individuals should they chose to exercise it. Socially, the population of New Spain was stratified into four main groupings. At the top of the social pyramid were the peninsulares: European born Spaniards. Next were the criollos: Spaniards who had been born in New Spain. Next were the mestizos: people who had mixed Spanish and native parentage. At the bottom were the indigenous peoples. From Madrid's point of view, New Spain was important as a source of valuable resources, primarily silver, from which the crown took its "royal fifth." The individual soldiers that conquered New Spain sought personal gain initially in the form of plunder and later in the form of encomiendas. An encomiendero was a person who was granted authority over a tract of land and all of the people living on it. The encomiendero was responsible for the welfare of the people under his charge and, in return, the people in

Essey: How does the United States influence Estonia

be anybody" (also known as "turning slumdogs into millionairs" – "ajalehepoisist miljonäriks"). Since I myself belong to an older age group not so much influenced by this philosophy, I can mostly take note of what I've heard from my ten years younger friends. They do complain, that many of them were brought up with some quite impossible expectations, with believing the "American dream", which in Estonian translated solely into "you can be anybody if you want to". Of course, it is terribly important to have dreams and strive, but when we lack the resources and the knowledge how to achieve them, there is that. And also, these kids were taught that they must finish university, must strive to become company leaders, professors etc etc. What they lack is confidence to know that it is OK to be a shop keeper, a cleaner, a teacher. It's OK to be anyone you want to be, and you don't have to beat everybody, win everything, prove yourself to the world over and over again while
