Letter of application

Other than my studies, I have been earnestly seeking for opportunities to gain understanding of my potential and the world around me. One of these experiences that I treasured was a study tour to Taiwan I made last year, in which I had to compete with 120 candidates to become one of the 40 participants in the tour. We visited the Legislative Council of Taiwan and met the vice president of the Council to understand the issues of their society. We also visited government departments and met the famous economist, Woo Jia Ching. From this tour, I have gained much insight about the Taiwan society. By comparing Taiwan and Hong Kong, I have also come to know more about the place I live in. After you have the opportunity to review my resume, I hope to have a chance to meet you to discuss further how I might contribute to Thomson Consulting. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely Richard Down

A business student´s insight into life in Estonia

07.11.2012 A business student´s insight into life in Estonia Estonia is a very small country compared with other European countries. But we have lots of students and universities which are internationally appreciated. I am also new business student in university and i have my own opinion. How can i see the life in Estonia? Positive side is definetly the location. We are located near the Baltic sea, which means that around us there is one of the fastest growing market. Also we are near the biggest cities in Europe. It means that we have lots of tourists who want to visit our country. Positive side is that we have unique nature and old town. Also in Estonia there are lower prices than neighboring Scandinavian countries. Estonians are successful in creating different e-government solutions. We have e-school, e- voting and e-s...

The school year should last from 1st September to 22 June

The school year should last from 1st September to 22 June There is no doubt that the school has a big role in our lives. It teatches us how to cope with our life. But what are the pros and cons, if the school would last longer? Firstly, if the government wants to shorten our summer break, then we would not have enough time to rest or visit our relatives. And when the school starts again in the autumn, then many of us would have no motivation to learn. And because of that, our grades starts to deteriorate. Sometimes the school may be very stressful too and then the summer holiday is very good time to rest and deal with other things. Especially when you do not live at home, during the school and

If I Were a Minister of Education

What has changed and what would I do to make school a better place? Firstly, there are several things that has been changed in the last few years, such as financing vocational schools. Students of vocational schools get paid for good grades and in some schools even for attending school. Even dorms are paid for students. That is true, we have a chance of getting a little scholarship in high schools, if we graduate with a medal, but it is times and times harder to achieve. In fact government has started to close high schools because they think that there are too many of them. It looks like our country wants only graduates with vocational education, which I find really sad. If I were a minister of education I would do everything to help students to graduate gymnasium, not to popularise vocational schools. Students should have a chance to choose what path they want to follow but our country tries to mislead them. Also I would do everything to change the time of school's first lessons

prevalent in the Western society. The purpose of this dissertation is to critically explore this hotly debated tension between these two conflicting salient features that have often prevented the recognition of children as active citizens, entitled to respect and participation. With a particular interest in Wales, the following research project analyses the development of children`s active participation both in the Welsh Government and the County and Council of Swansea as they both have regarded the UNCRC on the basis of all its activity. Finally, the Cadle Primary School in Swansea has been used as a case study to investigate the potential change in attitudes in children after the school placed the UNCRC at the heart of its ethos and curriculum across all areas of the school. The primary goal is to critically analyse the commitment of the Cadle towards children`s participation within school and explore the

of Islands, on the West Coast of the South Island in the Paparoa National Park, and in the Takaka Hill area in Golden Bay. Politics of New Zealand The politics of New Zealand take place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic monarchy. The basic system is closely patterned on that of the Westminster System, although a number of significant modifications have been made. The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who is represented by the Governor-General and the head of government is the Prime Minister who chairs the Cabinet drawn from an elected Parliament. Head of State New Zealand's head of state is the Queen of New Zealand, currently Elizabeth II. The New Zealand monarchy has been distinct from the British monarchy since the Statute of Westminster Adoption Act 1947, and all Elizabeth II's official business in New Zealand is conducted in the name of the Queen of New Zealand, not the Queen of the United Kingdom.

and it is not poisonous. But still, if we have very concentrated carbon dioxide, it is hazardous and that's purpose of monitoring. Rick Russell sees no definite risk associated with the release or damage either to the surface, soils or ground water, because the type of geology they are useing, will protect the planet from this happening. For now, they have given investment sanction to two projects one in Norway in partnership with thw government there and with Statoil, and the anaother one in Australia. Prof. Martin Blunt is sure that if they cannot get Carbon capture and storage to work, then the world will be committed to dangerous climate change. But we cannot leave it on scientists' shoulders and we should help ourselves too by living greener.

The role of the free press

newspapers do not always give correct information and facts are often falsely reported. Thus, they are not always appropriate learning material for students. On the whole, I believe that the existence of the free press is valuable to the society, as long as its power is used wisely and objectively in an effort to inform the public, rather than mislead it. The modern society would be considerably poorer if censorship was imposed by the government and as a result, the media would be a means of no importance.

Spanish California

Spanish California The fifteenth century saw the completion of the reconquest of Spain and the emergence of Ferdinand and Isabella as the rulers of an expansionist empire eager to spread Christianity to distant lands and increase the wealth and power of Spain in the process.. Immediately after Christopher Columbus's discovery of the Americas in 1492, Spain began a series of expeditions into North, Central and South America. In 1519 Hernan Cortes began a campaign to conquer Tenochtitlan. It took several years but eventually he prevailed. The Aztec capital was razed to the ground and replaced by Mexico City. Mexico City quickly became the political/military center for most of Spain's possessions in North and Central America - what they were to call New Spain. The conquistadores brought great wealth to the throne but they also posed potential political risks as they grew stronger. The Spanish monarchy sought to neutr...

Irish Potato Famine

As soon as spring began, people started emigrating to Canada - ships bringing lumber to England were glad to receive paying passengers. Almost every ship had a third of their passenger's die at sea or upon their arrival. On the shores of Quebec eyewitnesses saw hundreds literally flung on the beach, left in the mud, dying. Yet, it was only the potato crop that failed wheat, oats, pork, mutton etc. were excellent, but all was shipped to Europe to ease the starvation there. The British government refused to help with money or by opening soup-kitchens they were afraid that young rebels would buy guns and that the Irish would get used with free food and never work again. The `Great Hunger' ended in 1851-52, when the amount of eatable crop increased. Approximately 1.5 million died of starvation and/or diseases, and 2 million emigrated. The population of Ireland continued to fall for 70 years, then it stopped at 4 million a half, compared to 8 million people counted in 1845.

Queen Victoria and her time

Widowhood Until the late 1860s she rarely appeared in public; although she never neglected her official Correspondence, and continued to give audiences to her ministers and official visitors, she was reluctant to resume a full public life. [7] Victoria's isolation from the public greatly diminished the popularity of the monarchy, and even encouraged the growth of the republican movement. Although she did perform her official duties, she did not actively participate in the government, remaining secluded in her royal residences, Balmoral in Scotland or her residence at Osborne in the Isle of Wight. Meanwhile, one of the most important pieces of legislation of the nineteenth century -- the Reform Act 1867 -- was passed by Parliament. Lord Palmerston was vigorously opposed to electoral reform, but his ministry ended upon his death in 1865. He was followed by Lord Russell (the former Lord John Russell), and afterwards by Lord Derby, during whose ministry

Tier One or Tier Two, no matter where you live.Business operations reception, customer service, sales, websites, advertising that entail use of one or more languages provide access to major additional segments of the global economy. Likewise, the executive or office worker or retail clerk with multi-fluency has the edge over co-workers and competitors who do not. The isolationism of single-language operations in business and in government amounts to arrogance, and eliminates the single-language entity from effective competition. There are any number of ways for the individual to learn a second or even third language. Immigrants, who refuse to become fluent in the language of their host country prevent their own success. It is mind-boggling that there are Russian-speaking families in Tallinn, for example, who have lived here in the Estonia for forty years and still have learned nary a word of Estonish!

Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development in Estonia

This event first took place in 2008 and is now one of the biggest worldwide environmental events. Estonian Commission on Sustainable Development is one of the organisations that is working on improving the conditions of our country´s environment. This organisation focuses on the growth of welfare, economical balance and viability of the Estonian cultural space. Its main goal is to raise the welfare of our society without damaging the environment. This organisation works with the government to be successful in global competition with a sustainable development model and preservation of the traditional values of Estonia. Estonia is well-known by its waste quotas. In order to keep the air pollution to a minimum Estonia has developed high quotas. There are limits for large industries and factories to how much carbon dioxide they are allowed to let into the atmosphere. If they transgress the quotas then they must pay large sums of money

Environmental issues in Estonia

Furthermore, it will change our climate. In addition our air is polluted by hydrogen sulfide from plants and factors (Especially in Kohtla- Järve and Maardu). Other big environment problem is garbage. Huge amount of waste is produced every day and it is all because of overconsumption. Although, in recent years peoples knowledge about recycling and using eco-friendly products have improved, there are more landfills in Estonia than ever before. The government should take some actions and instead of talking about recession, they should improve recycling programs or take into use some new ways. Environment problem in Estonia is also water pollution. Big factories let their waste run into the rivers without cleaning it and farmers use man-made fertilizers. Their action is spoiling groundwater. Garbage wrong recycling also affects groundwater quality, because when it rains then bacteria from landfills will be washed to the groundwater

The history of movies

Studios there were separated into 3 different groups. The biggest one was the Big Five. It included studios like ee WB. 20th Century Fox and Paramount. Movies were fun. Everyone had something to talk about. People would go to see the movies in big groups and have fun. They started to assume that it was normal to be entertained. Most americans went to see the movies at least once a week. The movie industry became a big business. In return, via contract, that individual is rewarded with a pension for life. That is a form of investment popular in the Industrial Age but obsolete in the Information Age. Other people invest in having large families and, in turn, have their children care for them in their old age. That form of investing was the norm in the past, yet due to economic constraints in the present, it is becoming more difficult for families to handle the living and medical expenses of parents.

Näiteks tema raamatus ,,My life and work" räägib ta sellest, kuidas saame ise Valitsust aidata, sest Valitsus meid ei aita. Tema moto oli järgmine: ,,Less government in business and more business in government". 2.1.3 HENRY GANTT Töötas välja omanimelise diagrammi süsteemi, mis on mõeldud suurtele infrastruktuuri projektidele.

Topic – Australia

The city is also the fourth most populous urban area in Australia. The metropolitan area is located in the south west of the continent between the Indian Ocean and a low coastal escarpment known as the Darling Range. The central business district and suburbs of Perth are situated on the Swan River. Founded in 1829 by Captain James Stirling as the political centre of the free settler Swan River Colony, Perth has continued to serve as the seat of Government for Western Australia to the present day. Traditionally, Perth and the Swan River have usually been viewed and photographed from Kings Park, situated on a hill to the southwest of the city or from the South Perth foreshore. The historical record of the view shows clear river banks close to the city and a low skyline through to the 1960s. The temperature usually never goes under the freezing level.

The Middle Ages

Years 1154-1485 Henry I was the first unquestioned ruler. One of the most important kings in the Middle Ages. He had lands in Britain & France. Then the government was the monarch, a person, not a place. He had more land than any pervious king. After his marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine, he also ruled the lands south of Anjou. His empire stretched from the Scottish border to the Pyrenees. England provided most of its wealth, but the heart was Anjou. Henry II began to regain royal control. During the war some barons had become very powerful. He pulled down some of their castles. He tried to restore law & order. He wanted

BARRIERS TO DISTRICT HEATING DEVELOPMENT IN SOME EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

municipalities must, for judicial reasons, limit their business abroad to sales of services, and to a very limited extent goods. For municipal district heating companies, domestic judicial restrictions are the first barriers to overcome before operations in other countries can commence. Only certain components for production and distribution of district heating are manufactured in a single country, which calls for international cooperation. The Swedish Government provides certain but limited support to promotion of district heating business abroad. For example, Swedish district heating consultants work abroad but it is seldom followed by goods export. financing the DH value chain Financing is a large barrier to district heating development. DH systems require large investments and may have long payback times. The cash flow is negative for a long time during the establishment of a new DH system. Time horizons are distant, which stresses financers in our

The Life of Indigenous Australian Children.

Mothers of some Aboriginal children would cover their fair-skinned children with black clay; hide them in trees, behind sand dunes, or in hollow logs. Families were moving constantly, to keep one step ahead of "welfare." Some families said that they were Italian, Maori, or Greek, leaving their true identity to themselves to escape the strict control of the white "protector." The removal of these children from their families affected more than just a few people. In New South Wales, the government estimated that, in New South Wales alone, there were at least 8,000 Aboriginal children who had been taken away from their families between 1885 and 1996. Aboriginal children were often taken for being "neglected." The missions and reserves were often the places where the Aborigines would eventually die off. The children in the institutions were the most neglected children in Australia. Many had to sleep in dormitories with about nineteen to twenty-five other girls in each of dormitory. If any

7. Selgita mõisteid: SKP Sisemajanduse koguprodukt on kindla perioodi jooksul riigis toodetud toodete ja teenuste koguväärtus. Eksport export, riigis toodetud kaupade müük välismaale.
