He is an ideal of beauty and this makes him arrogant. He thinks that if he is beautiful, everything is allowed to him. He kills one of his friends Basil, a conventially minded and talented painter and does not even feel guilty after that. The third quite important charachter there is Lord Henry, a friend of both Dorian and Basil. He is a charming talker and a brilliant intellect. The climax occurs when Dorian kills Basil. Sybill's brother sweared that he would kill Dorian if he did something to her. 18 years after the death of her sister he accidentaly bumps into Dorian in a shady bar. He threatenes to kill him because of what he'd done, but Dorian uses his young face to escape. He tells him that he's only 20 years old, when actually he's 38. After the incident someone tells Sybill's brother that it really was Dorian. Later when Dorian is going hunting with his friends someone accidentally shoots a sailor. When Dorian takes a look at the body he identifies the man who had tried to kill him. When Dorian gets home after the hunting trip he decides to start his life from a fresh page. He decides that he'll move to another country and destroy the portrait. When he stabs the picture with a knife, he and the man in the picture change places. The picture becomes young and beatiful again, while Dorian's face becomes deformed. In the progress Dorian also dies.
