The federal parliament is divided into two Houses the upper house (the Senate) and the lower house (the House of Representatives). The party which gains the majority of seats in the House of Representatives forms the government. The leader of this party becomes the prime minister. In the Government of Australia, the Minister for Foreign Affairs is responsible for overseeing the international diplomacy section of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Prior to 1970, the office was known as the Minister for External Affairs. The minister is usually one of the most senior members of Cabinet -- the position is equivalent to that of Secretary of State in the United States or Foreign Secretary in the United Kingdom -- as shown by the fact that eleven Prime Ministers of Australia have

Enviromental problems

Until recently, concern about the environment revolved almost exclusively around local and national problems. Over the past two decades, however, scientists have increasingly focused attention on more far-reaching environmental threats, such as global warming, ozone depletion, and deforestation that transcend national boundaries. A new concept global environmental problems has entered the public arena, especially in the area of foreign policy and economic matters. Global Environmental Problems: · Energy · Water · Global Climate Change · Land Use and Development · Ozone Depletion · Waste · Resource Depletion · Ecological Health (Biodiversity) · Human Health · Air Quality Sustainable Development

My future career

To decide, what kind of work suits me, helps communication with adults, meetings with representatives of universities and large selection of useful literature. Also I need to think about how well I can do what I would like to do. In my opinion, very interesting and noble profession is a doctor. I understand that it is necessary to study a lot to become a doctor. You must have good knowledge of biology, chemistry and mathematics. I realize that I should know the foreign languages too. Of course, much will depend from my exams result. So now I'm trying to learn as much as possible to pass them well and go into medical university. I understand that this profession requires great responsibility because it deals with the most precious thing that a man has - his health. I want to help people who have problems with their health. Speech: The challenges of the 21st century

A century ago nobody knew technical instruments such as calculator or computer. People calculated by themselves, the letters were sent by post and people had more time to spend with family than nowadays, because now the majority of us are spending time on the Internet. So is the development of technique our fortune or accident? Of course the technique makes our lives easier. New agricultural machines are able to do more work than we. Planes and ships enable us to discover foreign countries thousands of miles away and broaden the mind. Moreover we have a chance to find interesting and educating information from computer, but with what price? All these robots and facilities prevent us from thinking ourselves. We create traps, from which is difficult to get out. For example the using of the calculator generates in us the fixation. We can excellently calculate but we still use a calculator and so we are forgetting all these elementary things

Comparison. Jan Guillous’ ” Evil”.

The teachers look the other way as the older students are very brutal to younger, creating a hierarchical society based on class and age. The film was made in 2003 and directed by Mikael Håfström. Andreas Wilson plays the leading role of Erik Ponti. It has been named Best Film, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design (2004 Swedish Film Awards); Audience Award for Best Feature (2004 Miami International Film Festival). And it was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category in the 2004 Oscars. The plot of the film is basically the same as the books, but in the film, the director has tried to make Erik seem better. In my opinion it was unnecessary because although Erik was more violent in the book, he still made a positive impression. But in the movie some of the most important scenes were left out and the movie lost a lot with that. It seems that the director tried to make Erik seem like a non-violent hero or something like that.

Turismi mõju majandusele ja keskkonnale

1. Country's political and economical situation affects tourism significantly. The number of tourists can be small in the countries, where there are hurricanes, eartquakes, terrorism and diseases. 2. Jobs created by tourism are often poorly paid and seasonal. Tourism can push up local property prices and the cost of goods and services. 3. A huge amount of tourism returns are taken away from the target country. There are many reasons: quarters with a foreign heritage, travel agency, commercial expences and raw materials for the tourists. ENVIRONMENT 1. Pollution The cruise ships of the Mediterrean Sea are polluting water and coast areas and the bottom of the sea. One cruise ship creates about 50 tons of solid garbage a year. There are floating plastic garbage islands in the ocean. 2. Air transport is the most polluting transport type. Plane flings carbon dioxide and other pollution to the atmosphere. 3

Why did Russian civil war breake out in 1918

Why did Russian civil war breake out in 1918? The Russian Civil War was to tear Russia apart for three years, between 1918 and 1921. The civil war occurred because after November 1917, many groups had formed that opposed Lenin's Bolsheviks. These groups included monarchists, militarists, and, for a short time, foreign nations. Collectively, they were known as the Whites while the Bolsheviks were known as the Reds. But why did it really breake out? There were three reasons why Civil War broke out in Russia in 1918.The first reason was that there was bound to be a challenge to the Bolsheviks, who had seized power by a surprise coup. After 1918, their political opponents tried to reverse it. The Bolsheviks had many enemies. One group who wanted to destroy the Bolsheviks were the Social Revolutionaries

Staffing - Xculture

Staffing The most effective way of staffing for Daffodils Games & Publishing would probably be the combination of locals and expatriates. As the company is small and with a limited budget the chosen method must be both economical and effective. Since the entry mode chosen was exporting, the best way to maintain the low budget would be to mainly hire locals together with few expatriates. As the market of entering is a foreign country (Nigeria) there would be needed to hire locals of the new country in the sales, marketing and legal departments. The locals should be hired as sales representatives and agents as they know the culture, methods to approach the possible customers and the needs of the market of the new country. Their tasks would be the direct selling (i.e. door-to-door selling, attending fairs and trade shows) and also

Drinking is usually expected among students and smoking is common. When first arriving in a Finnish University , each foreign student should have a volunteer student assigned to them in order to help them navigate the system and acclimate into the culture. Estonian Independence Day

to the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the United States, Ernst Jaakson. On February 24, 1989, the red flag of Soviet Estonia was replaced by the blue-black-white Estonian national flag on Toompea and since that time the Independence Day has been celebrated as a public holiday again. This year Estonia will celebrate the 83rd anniversary of the declaration of the state independence. A Quest for Independence For centuries, the Estonian people dreamed of establishing a state free of foreign domination. The 1917 revolution and the generally unstable situation in Russia created the opportunity for Estonia to gain its independence. The impetus for independence was provided by the National Front, Estonia's main ideological movement, which based its ideas on US President Woodrow Wilson's principle of self-determination. On April 8, 1917, Estonian organisations and military personnel totalling 40 000 held a demonstration in Petrograd (St

European Union

Jerzy Buzek is the President of the European Parliament The Council is the EU's main decision-making body. Like the European Parliament, the Council was set up by the founding treaties in the 1950s. It represents the member states, and its meetings are attended by one minister from each of the EU's national governments. Which ministers attend which meeting depends on what subjects are on the agenda. Javier Solana gives EU diplomacy a face as High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy The Commission is independent of national governments. Its job is to represent and uphold the interests of the EU as a whole. It drafts proposals for new European laws, which it presents to the European Parliament and the Council. It is also the EU's executive arm in other words, it is responsible for implementing the decisions of Parliament and the Council. That means managing the

second grade. That was very cool and we visited many places. I have also been to Paris, with my choir. We went the Eiffel tower too. A few years ago, our friends who live in Norway, invited us to visit them. We agreed and went there in winter and spent Christmas and New Year there. That was one amazing vacation to remember too. When I was very young, my parents took me to Sweden many times, but I can't remember that at all. Lately we haven't taken a trip to a foreign country, but I am looking forward to our field trip to London in October. What is your ambition for the future? I haven't thought of that too much. Right now I'm not sure yet, but it could be related to music and technology - the two things I love the most.

Economic Country Review

Tallinn's priority has been to sustain high growth rates on average 8% per year from 2003 to 2007. Estonia's economy fell sharply into recession in mid2008, primarily as a result of an investment and consumption slump following the bursting of the real estate market bubble. Estonia has rebounded well from the economic crisis. GDP contracted 14.3% in 2009, but the Estonian economy now has the highest GDP growth rate in Europe, largely thanks to a boom in exports and increased foreign investment following Estonia's adoption of the euro on 1 January 2011. Although Estonian GDP returned to positive growth in 2010, unemployment continued to rise, reaching an alltime high of 19.8% in early 2010 (Central Intelligence Agency, 2012, ISSN 15538133). 2.3 Hungary 2.3.1 Background Hungary became a Christian kingdom in A.D. 1000 and for many centuries served as a bulwark against Ottoman Turkish expansion in Europe. The kingdom eventually became part of the

People Demographically, Ibiza display a very peculiar configuration, as census agencies diverge on exact figures. According to the 2001 national census, Ibiza had 93,000 inhabitants (against 76,000 in 1991, 64,000 in 1981, 45,000 in 1971, and 38,000 in 1961). However, two years later, this figure jumped to 108,000 (Govern de les Illes Balears - IBAE 2004). This discrepancy stems from the amnesty which incorporated a number of unregistered foreign migrants. In terms of origin, about 55 per cent of island residents were born in Ibiza, 35 per cent are immigrants from mainland Spain (mostly working-class families from Andalusia, and the remainder from Catalonia, Valencia and Castilla), and the about remaining 10 to 15 per cent are foreign, dual and multi-national citizens of the EU and abroad (Govern de les Illes Balears - IBAE 1996). In decreasing order, foreigners are Germans, British,

modern medicines. Medieval medicinal ingredients like bat powder and snakeskin are no longer available, but you can still try the fine spiced claret, renowned already in the Middle Ages. The House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads is nearly the only preserved Renaissance building in Tallinn. The Brotherhood of Blackheads emerged in 1399. The Brotherhood united the young, single merchants before they could be accepted into the Great Guild, as well as foreign merchants who were residing in Tallinn for longer periods but not permanently. The name of the Brotherhood is associated with their patron, the black St. Mauritius, an early Christian martyr who died in Switzerland around 280300 A.D. His head is the mascot on the Brotherhood's coat of arms. The Brotherhood was active only in Estonia and Latvia, unknown in the rest of Europe. Members of the Brotherhood left Tallinn in the 1940s.

Boston Tea Party

British Government in which they destroyed many crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. The incident, which took place on December 16, 1773, was a key event in the growth of the American Revolution and remains an iconic event of American history. Background Europeans developed a taste for tea in the 17th century. When tea became popular in the British colonies in North America, Parliament sought to eliminate foreign competition by passing an act in 1721 that required colonists to import their tea only from Great Britain and the East India Company. Because Parliament heavily taxed this tea and charged the East India company tarrifs, both Britons and British Americans found that it was much cheaper to buy smuggled tea, which usually came from Dutch sources. The biggest market for smuggled tea was England, but tea was also smuggled into the colonies to a lesser extent. Tea Act 1773

Social problems in England - tekst

1) 1.Racism 2. Crime 3. Unemployment 4. Alcohol/Drug abuse 5. Economic recession 6. Poverty 7. Riots 2) Racism is a common problem in many countries and in Englad it is present because there are many immigrants from all over the world. As it is a widespread social problem it's also one of the worst ones, because the hatred directed to different races or even nationalities makes the foreign people feel bad and also to hate the locals. This brings up many conflicts like the bombings in 2005 (when 4 islamic suicide bombers killed thmeselves and 52 civilians), but usually the conflicts are smaller, like brawls between different ethnic groups or mockery and insults. 3)In 1999 was the biggest racism related crime in the last 3 decades, when a Neo-Nazi David Copeland placed homemade nailbombs at public places

The picture of Dorian Gray

Two educational things combined. But it's also bad- it is a bad book choice for a first-time English reader. It is full with descriptions in such details, so many complexed word and expressions. Those made reading very complicated. Most of the time it wasn't reading, it was translating the words or googelling for the meanings of the fictional expressions. Adjectives are good, but when there are so many of them combined and in a foreign language..it made it painful. Also, the book was in older English, which made it even more difficult. I would recommend this book for a more experienced reader.
