independence of the United States of America from England. Mt. Rushmore National Memorial is a huge mountain sculpture of the four US presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. They were chosen to represent the founding and growth of the United States. The work was designed by the sculptor John Gutzon Borglum and after his death, his son finished the work. The work took 14 years, but work was done for about only 6 of those years. The United States Flag has thirteen red and white stripes, which represent the first thirteen colonies. It also has 50 white stars on a blue background in the top left corner. 50 stars represent the 50 states in the U.S. The first U.S. flag was designed during the War of Independence in 1777. Canada. Canada is a very large country. It is over 600,000 sq kilometers larger than the United States. Over 5,000 km of border separate Canada and the United States. Canada does not have nearly as many people as the United States, it has only a tenth as many. Its climate helps to explain why there are so few people in so big land. The northern part of Canada is called Eskimo land and there are very cold winters. Only in the southern part and the west coast is the climate as mild as in the western part of the United States. During the Ice Age almost all of Canada was covered time after time whit great sheets of ice. These sheets carried away much of Canada's soil to the United States. Parts of Canada were first settled by the French, part of it by the English. Picturesque Quebec is the most French, of Canada's big cities. Canada's largest city, Montrea...

Well before coming of the first European settlers, Canada's aboriginal peoples had discovered the food properties of maple sap, which they gathered every spring. According to many historians, the maple leaf began to serve as a canadian symbol as early as 1700. The maple leaf today appears on the Canada's flag and on the penny. Canada's flag is with colours red and white, which are also Canada's official colours. Canada is a very large country blessed with many natural resources. From trees they make pulp and paper, from mines they extract coal, gold, silver, uranium and many other minerals. To Be Human Is To Discuss

I calculated and found out that I get home from school average of 16.00. Where should I find time to train? I come home, I'm hungry so I want to eat, then I start studying and basically I finish when it's dinner time and then time for bed. I think Estonians are talented and would be good athletes and on top of the world, but with the curriculum being quite bad, we can't focus on training and because of that, the athletes can't make a name for themselves and put that little Estonian flag behind their names on TV for the fans to see. Instead, we go to school to sit, not to study and then try to train, but because of all the homework and long days, sometimes it's hard to find time for that. So in the end, we don't get the education we were hoping for and neither did we get to the top of the world in sports. We tried, because with just sports, it's hard to make a living in Estonia, so going to school and making these three years was a backup plan that basically

Canada´s history

England finally gained control over almost all of Canada. Gradually the British started to move westward and new provinces and territories appeared. During this settlement process the native Canadians were treated with more respect than the natives of the USA. Canada's real birthdate is July 1, 1867 when the British created the Dominion of Canada under British rule. In 1931 Canada peacefully broke away from direct British rule. In 1965 a new flag with a red maple leaf on a white background was adopted. The name Canada is believed to come from the Huron-Iroquois word Kanata, which means "village" or "settlement". In 1535, locals used the word to tell Jacques Cartier the way to Stadacona, site of present-day Quebec City. Cartier used Canada to refer not only to Stadacona, but also to the entire area subject to Donnacona, Chief at Stadacona; by 1547, maps began referring to this and the surrounding area as Canada.

The athletes of Greece march into the stadium first in honor of the original Olympics held in ancient Greece. The other athletes follow in alphabetical order. The athletes of the host country enter last. The head of state of the host country declares the Games opened. The Olympic flag is raised, as the Olympic anthem is played. Hundreds of doves are released into the air as a symbol of peace. The most dramatic moment of the opening ceremony is the lightning of the Olympic Flame.

Most of the tourists think that Big Ben is the tower, but Big Ben is only a clock, which was built in 1858 to 1859. It is probably named, after Sir Benjamin Hall, the first Commissioner of Works. Big Ben is very heavy. It weights over 13 tons. The clock mechanism, alone, weights about 5 tons. The figures on the clock face are about 2 feet long. Charles Barry's design incorporated a clock tower. The dials were to be thirty
