Law (see Crystal 1987). In languages with widespread literacy, other means of forming new words are based on the writing system. In English both abbreviations (e.g. BBC, MP, PC, etc.) and acronyms (e.g. radar) are common. (Radar stands for RAdio Detection And Ranging.) Other languages use other devices (for example, in languages that use the Chinese writing system, it is common for long compounds to be reduced to the first elements of the subcompounds they contain, so that Japanese too-kyo dai-gakku `Tokyo University', literally `east-capital big-school' is usually referred to as too-dai literally `east-big' but more idiomatically translated as something like `TU'). German abbreviations/acronyms are often based not on the first letter of the component words, but on the letters for the onset and nucleus of the first syllable of the component words, e.g. Gestapo from GEheimSTAatsPOlizei `secret state police'.

La segunda, que el que verdaderamente ama es necesario que `se turbe con la dulzura del soberano deleite, que por el Hacedor de las cosas fue puesto, porque el linaje de los hombres `se perpetuase, sin lo cual perescería. (Finch p 36) Literal Translation You know, Pármeno, that Calisto is lovesick°. And you shouldn't judge him for being weaker than it; undaunted° love conquers all things. And know that, if you don't know already, that two conclusions are true. The first, that a man is forced to love a woman and the woman love a man. The second, that he that truly loves must be bothered by the sweetness of natural delight, which the Maker of things put onto us, for the lineage of men to continue, without which it would perish°. Renaissance

Renaissance spirit. Renaissance belief: life in this world was not merely a preparation for the next world but that, on the contrary and active life in this world had value in itself. 5. How did the Renaissance in England differ from the Renaissance in Europe? Why? The phenomenon of the Renaissance touched England lightly and fleetingly during the time of Chaucer. As far as England was concerned, however, this first contact was negligible largely because external wars and internal strife ravaged the country for almost a century and a half (1337-1485) The Renaissance in England may be divided into 3 parts: the rise of the R. under early Tudor monarchs, the height of R. under Elizabeth I, the decline of the R. under the Stuart monarchs. 6. The first manifestations of the Renaissance in English literature.

Britain history.

Britain History Pre-Norman Britain The Iberians brought their metal-working skills and the first real civilization to Britain in the third millennium B.C and were overrun by various Celtic invasions that began in the 8th century. The Celts introduced their tribal organization and an early form of agriculture before they were forced westward by the Roman invasion. Forms of Celtic language are still spoken in Britain. Romans (with Julius Caesar in the head of them) first tried to occupy Britain in 55 B.C., but there was a rebellion in Gaul so they had to leave to fight against it

Batman

I The Birth of Batman The creation of the fictional superhero Batman is credited to artist Bob Kane, even though in reality he was cocreated with writer Bill Finger. Batman first appeared in 1939 in Detective Comics #27. Since then Batman has been an important and influential character in the comic book universe. Publisher of DC Comics, Vin Sullivan was looking for something new for Detective Comics, which would be as intriguing as Superman had been in Action Comics, but it had to be something completely new. Sullivan's ideas inspired Kane, and he credits the creation of Batman as much to Sullivan as to himself.

Merde Actually

Merde Actually By Stephen Clarke "Merde Actually" is written by Stephen Clarke, who is a British journalist and a novelist living in Paris. When he first arrived in Paris, he experienced a cultural shock and got inspired by it. He started to keep a diary of his experiences and decided to publish it as a novel when the Anglo-French relationships were at their worst during the Iraq War spring 2003. Therefore his novels (he has written three in this series) have become enormously popular all around the world, especially because they are partly true. Stephen Clarke himself still lives in Paris with his French girlfriend

For example, the fate is a `providentia' and the monster Grendel is an embodiment of evil fighting against Christian militant. This contrast corresponds to the poem itself. The poet is looking back from his own Christian times to an old society with different customs and beliefs. The poem is set, as it is announced in the very first line: `in days gone by'. For instance, the poet and his fellow Christians who can know that Grendel belongs to the race of monsters descended from Cain. For the Danish king he is the only a mysterious creature, for he doesn't know the Bibel. Again, when aged B. is killed by the dragon, the poet observes that his soul departs from the body. human qualities. He is a grotesque monster who terrorizes a small community of Danish warriors. Therefore he can be called a flat character. In the book "Grendel" the protagonist and antagonist have been swapped. Gardner greatly alters the monster's characterization. In his novel, very little separates Grendel from his human counterparts: he has a high level of intelligence, as well as a human capacity for both emotion and philosophy. As the text is written in the first person point of view through Grendel's eyes, one gets a quite good picture of him. Unfortunately he is fighting with the inevitable. He keeps attacking and eating the Danish warriors simply because his instincts tell him to do so. He cannot help it; he is still a beast and not his own master. Beowulf undergoes as radical a transformation as Grendel does. The Beowulf of "Grendel" is uncannily superhuman. He is not only supremely strong, but also a cold, mechanical being

If you aren`t on Facebook, then you don`t exist

Facebook? That is the question which I have asked myself many times. In my opinion the main reason is that facebook has become an important communication site , beacuse it is available for everyone who has Internet connection. Firstly, In fact More than 845 million people have Facebook account, about 483 million people use Facebook every day and I am one of them who uses Facebook every day. I can not imagine my life without facebook, because this is the first site where I go when I turn on my computer. I am really Addictioned to Facebook, beacuse it has changed the part of my life, because this is like the central place where I can talk to my friends, store pictures, watch videos which are very popular and rated. On the other hand, this might not come as a chock but children who spend too much time on Facebook have big problems about concentrating on studings and it also can affect a student`s grade .

bread within the family, raise, feed and look after the progeny. Of course there are exceptions like lions (lionesses do hunting which ensures food for their families), seahorses (males bear the eggs) and some others, but in general law of nature is such. So it is not surprising that this law applies for the human beings, but we are truly exceptional species. Our mind that led us through enormous changes in society fetched us to such state of affairs that nowadays many women place their careers first. The reasons for that are very different: suppressed sexual needs, uncertainty in helpmates, need to realise themselves, need to ensure the well-being of their children, etc. So, on one hand, we can undoubtedly say that some women are more suitable for executive jobs than males because they are more advanced and have more management flare. On the other hand we cannot disagree that in usual men have better grip and energy in business, leadership and management affairs.

environmental realities and traditional livelihoods, a heritage of comparatively widespread egalitarianism out of practical reasons (see e.g.: Everyman's right and universal suffrage), and the ideals of closeness to nature and self-sufficiency. Estonian culture developed in earnest during the nineteenth-century period of national awakening. Elements of Estonian peasant culture, such as songs and folktales, were brought together by the country's first cultural elite after 1850. Between 1857 and 1861, Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald compiled and published the Estonian national epic, Kalevipoeg (Son of Kalev), which was based on various folklore themes. Written in verse, the epic tells the story of Kalevipoeg, the mythical ancient ruler of Estonia. Another achievement of this period was the establishment of Estonia's first regularly published Estonian-language newspaper, Perno Postimees , originally published in

Argumentative presentation: Estonia does need a nuclear power station

needs a nuclear power station. My talk consists of 3 parts: the current situation, renewables and how can nuclear power save Estonia from an energy crisis. My talk will last for 2-3 minutes and questions can be asked at the end. Power consumption is increasing exponentially in all civilised countries. Estonia's coal based power generation is becoming obsolete in the near future. The question arises : "Where will the future generations get the energy that they need?". First of all, in the current year, the power consumption reached the highest of all tomes in February. Most of the energy shortage was covered by energy brought from Lithuania. Energy was produced there from gas imported from Russia. That is not a reliable source of energy that can scale. In addition, Estonia does not have an adequate electricity grid network with neighboring countries. Therefore, there are no means to cover local demand with the current resources.

strings on the fret board is called fretting. Here are some tips you will need to know: 1. Short fingernails are essential. 2. Use only the tips of your fingers to press the strings. 3. When making a chord, be sure that each fingertip is placed directly behind the fret. We will cover chords in lesson one. 4. Check each string that it rings clearly and is not muted or buzzing. As a beginner guitarist, it may hurt your fingers to play. This is normal. Every guitarist starts this way for the first couple of weeks. With practice, you will develop guitar fingers (hard skin on your fingertips). Holding the Pick Position the pick between thumb and index fingers like in the diagram below: Time to take a break. Philip Larkin poetry analysis

Philip Larkin poetry analysis For my poetry analysis paper I chose Philip Larkin's works, because he was the first British poet whose works I read. I think that his poems are interesting. They reveal much about Larkin's life and about the social issues in the 20th century. Larkin is also considered to be one of the greatest English poets in the 20th century. I think that Larkin was quite interested in politics. For example his poem ´´Talking in Bed´´ begins with the lines /Talking in bed ought to be easiest, Lying together there goes back so far/

Their language was also influenced by the languages of the Native Ameircans and the settlers from other countries like Spain,France, and Germany. Examples of Native American
