Emergency situatsions, in case of fire

Emergency situatsions in case of fire · In the case of a small fire, a fire extinguisher can be used. However, you must already know how to use one, to be effective and timely enough for it to count. Keep yours in your kitchen, near enough to get to it quick, but not too close to the fire to reach it. Check it regurally to insure it would work properly if needed. · In the event of a larger fire, announce "FIRE!" loudly to everyone and gather all the people immediately and ask them to go out of the house via the nearest safe door or window. Do not re-enter the home! · If you are inside and don't know if there is fire on the other side of a door, test the door before you open it. To do this, kneel down to stay under the smoke levels. Reach up around half way up the door, and touch the door with the back of your hand. If there's a

The Great Fire kokkuvõte

The great Fire The Great Fire of London of September 1666 was one of the moost famous incidents in Stuart England. It was the second tragedy to hit the city in the space of 12 months. The fire started in Pudding Lane. The fire started in a baker's shop owned by Thomas Farriner who was the king's baker. His maid failed to put out the ovens at the end of the night. Once it started, the fire spread quickly. The city was basically made out of wood and with September following on from the summer, the city was very dry. Strong winds fanned the flames. In 1665, during the plague, the king, Charles II, had fled in London. His plan, in 1666 (he stayed in London and took charge of the operation to save the city) was to create fire-breaks. The heat created by the fire was so great that the lead roof on the old St Paul's Cathedral melted

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE III

Fred and George Weasley gave to Harry the Marauder's map which led him through a secret passageway into Hogsmeade, where he rejoins Ron and Hermione. In fact. Harry hadn`t got permission to visit the Hogsmeade, because no one had signed his permission form, so that was the only way how he can visit it. Inside the Hogsmeade tavern, Harry overheard Cornelius Fudge discussing Sirius Black's responsibility for Harry's parents' deaths. They also discussed the death of the another Hogwarts student, Peter Pettigrew, who was blown to scraps. At Hogwarts, Harry received a notice from Hagrid where he said Buckbeak, the hippogriff who attacked Malfoy, is going to be put on trial. Hagrid was very funereal and inconsolable about it that maybe he doesn`t see his charming and faithful never again if they sentence him to death . Harry received for Christmas, a Firebolt, the most impressive racing broomstick in the world. Professor McGonagall took it away...

My favourite trip: trip through bog

My trip through bog Me, my dad and my cousins traditionally go hiking every summer. Last summer we decided to go through bogs of Lavassaare. As it was going to be a week-long tramp, we considered our equipment carefully. We made list of everything we needed and then crossed out all that wasn't absolutely nesseccery. We couldn't have better timing: it was clear and warm all week long and it was exact time for wild strawberries and blueberries. We enjoyed the nature and especially the bog lakes. We spent six days in bog and travelled 55 kilometers with this time. This may seem as a short distance, but in bog, where your every step sinks and bog lakes lie exacly on your way, it is pretty long.

Then she thought that she had enough time to have a cup of coffee before Michael pick her up but then she spilled her coffee on her dress. She had been all thumbs all day. She thought it will be better to call the date off but on the other hand it will add fuel to the fire. Sally changed her dress and wait Michael to come over. They were walking at park arm in arm and were wining and dining. Without a doubt, Michael was head over heels about her but Sally didn't like him. She wanted to give him the slip. She said that she will go to the toilet but then went home and left Michael behind to the restaurant. After that evening Michael had a chip on his shoulder and didn't talk with Sally anymore.

then more commonly used. Types of forges Coal/charcoal forge Gas forge Gas forge A gas forge typically uses propane or natural gas as the fuel. Gas forges vary in size and construction, from large forges using a big burner with a blower or several atmospheric burners The primary advantage of a gas forge is ease of use, particularly for a novice. A gas forge is simple to operate compared to coal forges, and the fire produced is clean and consistent Coal/charcoal forge A forge typically uses bituminous coal or charcoal as the fuel to heat metal. A forge of this type is essentially a hearth or fireplace designed to allow a fire to be controlled such that metal introduced to the fire may be brought to a malleable state or to bring about other metallurgical effects. Forge fire in this type of forge is controlled in three ways: amount of air, volume of fuel, and shape of the fuel/fire. THE END

Funk muusika esitlus

Tuntumad nendest on: Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of power, The commodores. ● Funk muusika rajajaks peetakse James browni, kes küll alustas soul'i esitajana. Esimeseks James browni funk hitiks kujunes: papa's got a brand new bag 1965 aastal.

Westminster became the seat of the royal court and government, while its neighbour, the City of London (a part of London), was a centre of trade and flourished under its own unique administration the Corporation of London. 1100 its population was around 18 000, by 1300 it had grown to nearly 100 000. The Great Fire of London The Great Fire of London started at the bakery of Thomas Farynor on Sunday, 2 September 1666. It spread rapidly towards the City of London. The Lord Mayor of London created firebreaks to stop it, but he was too late. By the time they started to stop the fire, it was already a firestorm. On that night, the wind was very strong. The houses were made out of wood and were very close together and the streets were narrow. More than half of London burned down. St

Jaanipäev

linked with the ideals of independence and freedom. Jaanipäev marks a change in the farming year, specifically the break between the completion of spring sowing and the hard work of summer hay-making. Understandably, some of the rituals of Jaanipäev have very strong folkloric roots. The best-known Jaani, or midsummer, ritual is the lighting of the bonfire and the jumping over it. This is seen as a way of guaranteeing prosperity and avoiding bad luck. Likewise, to not light the fire is to invite the destruction of your house by fire. The fire also frightened away mischievous spirits who avoided it at all costs, thus ensuring a good harvest. So, the bigger the fire, the further the mischievous spirits stayed away. Midsummer's eve is important for lovers. Among Estonian fairy tales and literature there is the tale of two lovers, Koit and Hämarik .These two lovers see each other only once a year and exchange the briefest of kisses on the shortest night of the year

with several types of biomes. Savannas are frequently seen as a transitional zone, occurring between forest and desert or prairie. Although the term savanna is believed to have originally come from a Native American word describing "land which is without trees but with much grass either tall or short", by the late 1800s it was used to mean "land with both grass and trees". It now refers to land with grass and either scattered trees or an open canopy of trees. Changes in fire management Savannas are subject to regular fires and the ecosystem appears to be the result of human use of fire. For example Native Americans created subtropical savannas by periodic burning in some areas of the US southeastern coast where

History of London 2

Liis Toomsalu QUESTIONS part 2 1: How many people died in the Great Fire of 1666? The death toll from the fire is unknown and is traditionally thought to have been small, as only a few verified deaths were recorded. This reasoning has recently been challenged on the grounds that the deaths of poor and middle-class people were not recorded anywhere, and that the heat of the fire may have cremated many victims, leaving no recognizable remains. 2: How was the fire finally mastered? The battle to quench the fire is considered to have been won by two factors: the strong east winds

and cool, dry winters with an average temperature of 10° C. Most of the rain falls as convection rain in the summer and sometimes frost and snow may occur in the winter. 6. What is the role of wildfires in the temperate grassland plants’ lifecycle? Wildfires play a very important role. They allow the grasslands to be open and free of trees and shrubs. Any seedling of a tree that appears is killed off by the intense heat. If the fire does not clear out the seedlings, the grasslands would become a shrubland changing forever. Remarkably, the plants in the grasslands have adapted to the wildfires that come through, and actually need them to keep healthy and grow new vegetation in the spring 7. How are plants adapted to life in temperate grassland? (vt. ka õpik lk 61) During a fire, while above-ground portions of grasses may perish, the root portions survive to sprout again. Some prairie trees have thick bark to resist fire

Meg's Biography Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse-at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flunked freshman Algebra twice, then decided to cut her own bangs. After six years as an undergrad at Indiana University (a college to which she was only accepted because her father taught there), Meg moved to New York City (in the middle of a sanitation worker strike) to pursue a career as an illustrator, at which she failed miserably, forcing her to turn to her favorite hobbywriting novelsfor emotional succor.

Metallica concert review

Their ability to emotionally connect with fans all over the world is indeed a powerful thing. Metallica has been a constant presence for 30+ years in pop culture.Metallica has influenced plenty of rock and metal artists these days, like Sepultura, KoRn, Slipknot, Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, and avenged septuple. In a review of their concert, it was amazing. Their melodic touch to the “trashiness” was beautifully placed and gave their songs an edge over the others. For example: Fight fire with fire, Battery, Fade to Black, and constant use of melodic sections as seen in Master of Puppets as well. But what really elevated Metallica in my eyes was the album And Justice for All (AJFA), it showed more of their technical side with well thought out phrasing and intricate guitar work, one Song in particular “To live is to Die” is what I consider their best instrumental and Metallica at its peak. One other thing that people don't seem to credit Metallica with is their lyrics.

Roman Catholic Church was sold or given away and the houses stood empty. The Elizabethan period is often considered to be the golden age. Elizabeth was succeeded by her closest relative James VI of Scotland. The unhappy Stuart Dynasty witnessed the Civil war and the execution of Charles I. In 1660 the throne was taken by Charles II. Unfortunately in 1665 the great Plague was responsible for the deaths of 100,000 Londoners and in 1666 The Great Fire destroyed amost 400 acres. The fire raged for three days and burned down many churches, St. Paul's Cathedral and so on. The tower of London had a lucky escape. The architect Sir christopher Wern lost no time in drawing up plans and giving the entire city a monumental baroque aspect. Many of his plans were never realized, becaus people started rebuilding themselves, but the 50 churches and St, Paul's Cathedral were quite remarkable. During the Georgian era, London was considered the premier city of the western world. The

Together they are known as Anglo-Saxons. They were farming people who preferred living outside towns. For a while London probably lay in ruins, but it eventually developed again, partly because its position on the river was good for trading. In 1666 most of the City of London was destroyed in the Great Fire of London. London Bridge The home of the London Bridge is the Thames River, and a bridge has existed on the spot for at least the last 2000 years. The first bridge on record was constructed by the Romans, and since then many bridges have risen at the hands of various empires. London Bridge today remains one of the most popular tourist attractions in Britain as well as an icon for the City of London. Romans came to England in 43 AD. But we don't know much about them. The Romans built houses, a port and a bridge over the river and named the place Londinium. The bridge which was built by the Romans was later known as London Bridge and it was built in stone in 1176. London soon became the largest city in England and by the time of the Norman Conquest in 1066 it had become the most important city in Britain. It grew area and population until September 1666, when the Great fire destroyed four fifths of the wooden buildings in the City. The fire began in the kitchen of the King's baker in Pudding Lane and lasted for five days. By now London is a city of seven million people covering over 1,5 square miles. Geenivaigistus

Geenivaigistus on geeni avaldumise takistamine epigeneetiliste mehhanismidega transkriptsiooni või translatsiooni tasemel geeni struktuuri rikkumata. Meetod seisneb kindlate mRNA-molekulide blokeerimises või kiires lammutamises niinimetatud mikro- RNA-de kaudu, mille tulemusena geen ei avaldu ehk valgusünteesi ei saa toimuda. 2006. aastal said Andrew Fire ja Craig Mello Nobeli preemia füsioloogias ja meditsiinis esmaselt 1998.aastal avaldatud töö eest Nature ajakirjas . Fire ja Mello avastasid RNA interferentsi. RNA interferentsis on kahte tüüpi RNA molekule – mikroRNA ja siRNA . Need eelnimetatud väiksed RNA-d võivad seonduda teistele RNA-dele , tõstes või alandades nende aktiivsust, näiteks seondudes mRNA-le, takistavad nad sellelt toimuva translatsiooni ehk valgusünteesi.

London - the capital of Great Britain

The first bridge was the tower bridge, built in the 12th century. The second bridge was built in the year 1750. .The river Thames divides London into the northern and the southern part. The port of London is one of the greatest trade centres in the world. The river Thames is certainly the most famous water body in London. London is also the seat of the government of Great Britain. It is one of the largest cities in the world with its population of about seven million. Before the great fire in 1666 there were many wooden houses and narrow crooked streets in the town but after the fire it became a well-planned city with wide streets, beautiful squares and parks. It started on the second of September, from a bakery shop in Pudding lane and lasted for about 5 days. It destroyed 89 percent of the city . The fire spread very quickly, because the houses were side by side. After the fire of 1666, the face of London changed forever. London is famous for its large parks

London’s early history.

Tudor London London grew in importance under Tudor rule. King Henry VIII created palaces such as St James's. He is also famous for closing the country's monasteries in 1536, after the Catholic Church refused to grant him a divorce. During the reign of Elizabeth I, London was a wealthy and successful city. Theatre became popular, helped by the arrival of playwright William Shakespeare some time between 1584 and 1593. Plague and fire London suffered two disasters in later Stuart years. In 1665 the Great Plague killed about 70,000 people. In the 1666 the Great Fire destroyed almost all of the City and a large area to the west. Thousands of new houses were built, and Christopher Wren constructed St Paul's Cathedral as well as many churches. Stuart London The first Stuart king, James I, came to the throne in 1603. northern side to the 15th century. While the Lutheran reformation movement had prevailed in the churches of downtown Tallinn by 1524, the Toompea cathedral held Catholic services until 1561, when the Kingdom of Sweden gained control over Tallinn. A library was established at the church in 1641. The copper roof was built thanks to the donation of Queen Christina in 1651. While nearly the entire Toompea burnt down in a fire in 1433, the fire of 1684 was even more devastating. Only the walls of the church survived the whole wooden interior and the library burned down and even the arches and carved stone details suffered some damage. King Charles XI held a nationwide collection of donations in Sweden, the nobility of Estonia added their share and this enabled to restore the church in only two years. T ä h e p õ l d, Kadri. 2005. Concrete is used more than any other man-made material in the world.(slide) Moving on, the durability of concrete can be defined as the ability to remain serviceable for at least the required lifetime of the structure of which it forms apart. However there are many factors which shorten the lifetime of concrete (slide) such as: physical attacks, including frost damage, fire, wind and water waves and chemical attacks including sulfates, sea water, acids, alkali-silica reactions and of course corrosion of embedded steel. That's why the durability of concrete needs to be tested. (slide) Firstly, the concrete contains pores and capillaries which fulfill with water. In laboratories several test have been worked out to measure the permeability but in real life we have a similar situations in marine areas. Westminster Hall was built in 1099 by the son of William the Conqueror and is one of the largest medieval halls. It was part of the Westminster Palace, which was destroyed by a fire in 1834.
