Advantages and disadvantages living in a city

Advantages and disadvantages living in a city. Nowadays many people have to decide, where to live. There are many advantages and disadvantages living in a city and in the countryside. Some people prefer to stay in the countryside and say that they couldn't live anywhere else. Some people think the opposite. I think that there are many advantages of living in a big city. First of all, there are many opportunities to spend your free time. There are theatres, shopping centres, galleries and entertainment places. In a big city there are also hospitals and schools nearby. Also it is much easier to find a job in a big city, because there are many companies, which are located in a central city. Of course, public transport in a big city is much more comfortable, than in a countryside. There are also many disadvantages of living in a big city. In the morning the streets are crowded, because everybody has t...

Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student

Life in Estonia through the eyes of an economics student With a population of 1 313 271 people, Estonia is one of the least populous member states of the European Union. However, according to the IMF, it is a developed country with an advanced and high-income economy. Estonia follows market economy system which ensures the little government intervention and the determination of prices of goods and services in a free price system. Therefore, economic decisions are guided solely by the aggregate interactions of a country's citizens and businesses. In addition to mentioned afore, Estonia tends to perform favourably in measurements of civil liberties, education, and press freedom. Living in Estonia has many of its good sides, for instance it is a secure place from nature disasters and it has a beautiful nature. Although, when not to look only through rose-tinted glasses, there are still some minuses in country’s organiz...

Gender equality in higher positions of companies

Many high-level positions in companies are filled by men even though the workforce in many developed countries is more than 50 percent female. Companies should be required to allocate a certain percentage of these positions to women. To what extent do you agree? In the 21st century it is all about gender equality and every individual wants to achieve high level position in their work place. In the past, women, in many societies, had less rights and privileges than men. The statement says that companies should give a certain number of higher positions to women. However, I do not agree with this requirement completely. Giving a certain percent of higher positions to women certainly is an easy solution but in my opinion it will bring even more sexism. It shows that women are somehow weaker, fragile and need help for everything. And this on the other hand, will cause a situation where females will receive less credit for their jobs, eve...

Philosophy today

Philosophy Today The Great Divide Most contemporary philosophers follow one of two approaches "Continental" philosophy "Analytic" philosophy Continental philosophy is more influential on the European continent Analytic philosophy is predominant in the major research universities in the English-speaking world Analytic Philosophy Analytic philosophy developed from attempts in the early 20th century to make our concepts precise. The model of this procedure was science. Emphasis in contemporary analytic philosophy is on language and meaning, and meaning is understood as a relation between language and objective reality. Thus, understanding the structure of language is what reveals the structure of reality. Continental Philosophy At the same time that analytic philosophy was emerging, E. Husserl was developing his "phenomenological" approach...

To: Klick Costumer Service From: Edgar Rootalu, [email protected] Subject: Laptop Fujitsu Siemens enquiry I saw your advertisement in the latest ,,Eesti Ekspress". It raised some interesting thoughts in me. I consider buying this notebook. First, it says that it is quick and powerful. Does this mean that I can play every computer game existing. Another question is about the price. It says the computer has a remarkable discount. So how much did this thing cost earlier? I have a technical question also. The operation system is new Windows Vista, but can i run some old programs too like from ninties? The ad says i can do the payment by instalments. So if i do this can i do everything with the laptop or i have some limits which comprise downloadings and such other things. How high is the interest rate? I look forward to your answer! Essee: The effects mobile phones have on our lives.

The effects mobile phones have on our lives Martin Põldvee 12a It is clearly that mobile phones have become an irreplaceable part of our lives. We use it to communicate with others, arrange our business or just for entertainment. As the mobile phones have simplyfied our lives in various ways, it also brings many disadvantages. To begin with, many researches have shown that mobile phone radiation may be harmful to human health. If mobile phones are used too frequently it may slightly damage your brain or reduce men's potential in getting siblings. It is also belieaved that mobile phones may cause some sleeping problems. Another, more usual problem what comes with cellphones is that they are expensive to use and when the battery is dead, it is completely useless. Also if parents trust their children to use mobile phones at very young age, the may get surprised when they finally see the bill. Because there are...

He worked couple of years ago at the same hospital where my mother works. He was an ambulance driver. i can't say that some jobs are unnecessary or pointless, but i can say what jobs i don't like. When Jane reaches adulthood, she decides to work for the wealthy Mr.Rochester and teach his child who he himself is not that fond of. Jane as a person is shy but doesn't let people take advantage of her and after some time manages to charm the other wise cold hearted Mr.Rochester with her out spoken mind. Despite catching Mr.Rochesters eye their love story developes slowly because besides being both from a completely different class, Mr.Rochester always seems to have something bothering him in the back of his mind. Music can be a hobby.

Music can be a hobby. A hobby is something that you enjoy doing, something that brings relief of the daily grind and allows you to unwind. It's pretty safe to say that there would be no music if there was nobody to play it.There realle are no boundaries when it comes to picking up an instrument and learning to play.Anyone can do it if you have the patience an the willingness to learn. It's a good idea to try more than one type of instrument in order to know what you really prefer and what feels the most natural to you. It's best not to make up your decision on something like how cool a certain guitar looks on your favourite rock star.Everyone needs to develope their own musical styling with the instrument that is best for them. Writing music is one of the most profound ways to dig deep into yourself and see what you have to offer in a musically creative format.Don't expect the first thing you write to be an amazing piece of work.It takes...

George Orwell "Animal Farm" essay - "Human nature exposed in the novel"

Human nature exposed in G.Orwell's ,,Animal Farm" Humans are the most deceitful animals in the World. Even if we do not want to confess it to ourselves, we have to accept the fact that humans constantly change their ways of thinking and acting to make the World a better place to live in for themselves. Our lives are fulfilled with lies we enter to our or someone else's mind. A lot of it is connected to people's constant need of power and control. "Animal Farm" is a book that reverberates that kind of human nature through politics, dictatorship and power, but in nowadays' World this kind of behaviour occurs also in our everyday life, not only politics. First of all humans are in a constant need of power. The essence of the power does not even matter as long as they have some kind of control. It could be control over some group, over a person and his mind, actions and thoughts or just over a certain situation where we wa...

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children

We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children There is a saying that „we do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.“ Nowadays people don not think about it and are ruining the planet. There are researches which say that the human life on Earth will go extinct within a century. Eventually the Earth will become uninhabitable. People cannot change the past but their actions affect the future. One of the ways how people are affecting the lives of future generations is increasing pollution. Clean air and water are the most valuable resources, but they are getting more and more polluted. For example the air in China is so polluted that people need to wear masks. The pollution of water kills hundreds of thousands of water animals and birds. Some of the big companies have accepted the problem and are taking action. For example M...

Those things help to ensure that you will do your job properly and increase efficiency. But it is not viable always. Because very often you don't have the opportunity to choose your job. As very often you take the job you get, as you need money for your family. Above all you need is a job that interests you. If you can choose, of course pick the job that interests you. But sometimes we don't have that luxury and take the job we get. Why do so many people want to learn in English? Why do so many people want to learn in English? Why is it so? What do people hope to gain from learning in English? Many of the world's leading universities are in English speaking countries. This means you would get good education and you learn English as well, because you would live in an English speaking environment. Also the qualification from these universities is acknowledged all over the world. Firstly it gives a lot of opportunities for what to do after graduating a university

Hobbies contribute to one's personal development

Hobbies contribute to one's personal development Most people have hobbies for personal entertainment and interest. There are very many hobbies, some collect stamps, others might take photographs of architectural buildings or just play cards. Everything we do, gives us more experience at something, therefore hobbies contribute to our personal development a lot. The one hobby I will discuss and which is one of my own personal hobbies, is playing Texas Hold'em which is a form of poker. Although some people might just label it as gambling, poker is largely a skill game which has very little to do with luck rather than mathematics, reading people's body language and keeping track of people's previous behaviour. In able to play poker smart, you must be quick at calculating your odds and the value of your next move, just like in chess. Another very important skill is reading other people's reactions in the table,...

That is why I chose the Great Plague as the topic of my research. The purpose of my study is to educate myself and gain more knowledge on the history and find out how people lived in England in the seventeenth century. For a start, I will give a short review what the bubonic plague is. Then I tell about Black Death in England before the Great Plague, city life before and during the plague. My favourite trip: trip through bog

My trip through bog Me, my dad and my cousins traditionally go hiking every summer. Last summer we decided to go through bogs of Lavassaare. As it was going to be a week-long tramp, we considered our equipment carefully. We made list of everything we needed and then crossed out all that wasn't absolutely nesseccery. We couldn't have better timing: it was clear and warm all week long and it was exact time for wild strawberries and blueberries. We enjoyed the nature and especially the bog lakes. We spent six days in bog and travelled 55 kilometers with this time. This may seem as a short distance, but in bog, where your every step sinks and bog lakes lie exacly on your way, it is pretty long.

soup in Thursday Island. He mentioned that he spoke French and Captain Bartlett asked me to go and see French Joe. French Joe was 93 years old and lived in a hospital for last two years, not because he was ill, but because he was old and poor. He was in really big flannel pyjamas, but he was a little shrivelled man with bright eyes. He was a Corsican, but he had dwelt so many years among english-speaking people that he couldn't speak his native language accurately. He used English words with French terminations. Joe talked very quickly and with wide gestures and his voice was mostly clear and strong, but sometimes it faded away like a sound from the grave. His real name was Joseph de Paoli, he was a nobleman and a gentleman. He was in the same family with Boswell's Johnson, but he had never read Boswell or any books. Napoleon Boaparte was his relative. Joseph had entered the French army in 1851, which was 71 years ago. As a lieutenant of artillery

Proposal

Dear Sir/Madam, I read with great regret that you want to reduce the funding for English college Film Club. I would like propose the ideas to enhance the Film Club to not to lose the funding. I will try to change your mind by bringing out folowing reasons. Firstly, Film Club evenings take plave on Fridays 6-10 pm. Usually films are in English and quiz evenings about films are always very popular. Students like to relax and communicate with each other, it is also popular because watching films is not too physically demanding.

London - inglise keeles kokkuvõte

LONDON The history of the town is very closely linked with the history of the country itself. The name probably comes from the celtic words Llyn, which means a lake, and Dun, which means a fort or a strong place. Although the site was not important during the Celtic period (400 BC 43 AD) During the Roman occupation Londinium, as it was called then, was not influential politically, but was, however an important crossing point for the romans over the river Thames. Londinium was at a very good place, so it soon became a trading centre. In AD 61 the city was devastated by Boudicca, who led a revolt againt the Roman conquest of Britain. The city was burned down and its inhabitants massacred. London was rapidly rebuilt, becoming the capital of the province Britannia. AD 122 Roman walls were built around it as a Around AD 400 the Anglo-Saxons invaded Britain. They destroyed the roman towns and formed many kingdoms that were hostile to one a...

Schools should provide computers for every student

Schools should provide computers for every student In recent times, captious opinion has appeared referring the use of computers by adolescents and children in education at the primary and high school levels. Internet has become an essential tool for many students. A lot of students like doing researches on their own computers at home, while doing homework or discovering something new for themselves. High school students are often asked to write different essays, letters of reviews on topics they have been studying at school. In addition not all of them have time to deal with homework at home. So if school gave them computers, they could use their free time during breaks to do essential things for their education. Or if school allowed to take computers with them, some people could study even while travelling home. Although computers are a great technological invention for people all around the world, they might have few disa...

Argumentative essay - time changes things

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself” Some people say that time changes and heals things. There are also people who disagree with that and say that you actually have to change things yourself. It is my opinion that time is irrevelant and you have to change things yourself. At first, you may conclude that time does indeed change things, but is that an accurate conclusion? It’s true that time constantly moves on and we live in a constantly changing environment. But that doesn’t make time responsible for change. For example, if you are depressed and you cry constantly and you don’t make a change, the same problem will be in your face very day. Time and Change are both constant, but their relationship is random. Over the passage of time, changes will take place, but what that change will be is not controlled by time. In conclusion, If you want things to change for t...

Theatre Theatre in Australia can be divided into four categories: 1788-1849 The early years 1850-1899 The golden years 1900-1949 The shifting concern 1950-today The new foundations We can say that A. Phillip founded theatre in Australia. In the golden years, it was strongly affected by the English and Italian opera. The first ballet was introduced in 1855. Because cinema and radio became very popular in the beginning of the 20th century, theatre lost its fans and was not as popular as in the golden years. Literature The oldest type of literature in Australia is the aboriginal poetry, which is quite popular even today, as it is found everywhere. The most famous poets are C.Harpur, H.Kendall, G.G. McCrae. Today, crime fiction is the most popular genre. Australians love the writings of K

The two surveys were carried out in 2005 and 2013. At the end of the report there are some possible reasons for the changes. Grow of importance To start with, the importance had grown 14% for the pay, 15% for the work atmosphere and 20% for work/life balance.
